Chapter 7

1 AND it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jothan, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Aram, and Pekah the son of Romaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

2 And it was told the house of David, saying, Aram is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart and the heart of his people were moved, as the trees of the forest are moved with the wind.

3 Then the LORD said to Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, you and Shear-Jashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool which is in the highway of the palace's field;

4 And say to him, Take heed and be quiet; fear not, neither be frightened by these two weakening trouble-makers, by the fierce anger of Rezin, and by the son of Romaliah

5 Because Aram, Ephraim, and the son of Romaliah have taken evil counsel against you, saying,

6 Let us go up against Judah and destroy it, and let us make a breach in it and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal;

7 Thus says the LORD God: It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

8 For the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and after sixty-five years Ephraim shall be broken, so that it will no longer be a people.

9 And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Romaliah's son. If you do not believe, surely you shall not understand.

10 Moreover the LORD spoke again to Ahaz, saying,

11 Ask for yourself a sign of the LORD your God; ask something in the depth, or in the height above.

12 But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD my God.

13 And he said, Hear now, O house of David; it is a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also?

14 Therefore the LORD himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

15 Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know how to refuse the evil and choose the good.

16 For before the child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land before whose two kings you are harassed shall be forsaken.

17 The LORD shall bring upon you and upon your people and upon your father's house days that have not come from the day when the king of Assyria parted Ephraim from Judah.

18 And it shall come to pass on that day that the LORD shall whistle for the flies that are in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt and for the bees that are in the land of Assyria.

19 And they shall come and shall rest all of them in the valley of Jathoth and in the holes of the rocks and in all the dens.

20 On that day shall the LORD shave with a sharp razor the region that is beyond the river, by the king of Assyria, the head and the hair of the feet; and he shall also shave off the beard.

21 And it shall come to pass in that day that a man shall rear a young cow and two sheep;

22 And it shall come to pass because of the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter; for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.

23 And it shall come to pass in that day that every place where there were a thousand vines, worth a thousand silver pieces, shall become briers and thorns.

24 With arrows and with bows shall men come there, because all the land shall be filled with briers and thorns.

25 And on all the hills that once were ploughed with a plough, you shall not go for fear of briers and thorns; but it shall become pasture for cattle and for the treading of sheep.

1 Es begab sich zur Zeit3117 Ahas271, des Sohns Jothams3147, des Sohns Usias5818, des Königs4428 Judas, zog5927 herauf: Rezin7526, der König4428 zu Syrien758, und1121 Pekah6492, der Sohn1121 Remaljas7425, der König4428 Israels3478, gen Jerusalem3389, wider3898 sie1121 zu streiten4421, konnten3201 sie aber nicht gewinnen.

2 Da ward dem Hause1004 David1732 angesagt5046: Die Syrer758 verlassen sich auf5117 Ephraim669. Da bebete ihm5128 das Herz3824 und559 das Herz3824 seines Volks5971, wie6440 die Bäume6086 im Walde3293 beben vom Winde7307.

3 Aber der HErr3068 sprach559 zu Jesaja3470: Gehe hinaus3318, Ahas271 entgegen7125; du und dein Sohn1121 Sear-Jasub7610, an das Ende7097 der Wasserröhren am obern5945 Teiche1295, am Wege4546 beim Acker7704 des Färbers,

4 und1121 sprich559 zu ihm: Hüte dich8104 und sei stille8252! Fürchte3372 dich nicht, und dein Herz3824 sei unverzagt7401 vor2750 diesen8147 zween rauchenden6226 Löschbränden181, nämlich vor dem Zorn639 Rezins7526 samt den Syrern758 und des Sohns Remaljas7425,

5 daß die Syrer758 wider dich einen bösen7451 Ratschlag3289 gemacht haben samt Ephraim669 und dem Sohn1121 Remaljas7425 und sagen559:

6 Wir wollen hinauf5927 zu Juda3063 und sie aufwecken und unter8432 uns teilen und zum Könige4428 drinnen machen4427 den Sohn1121 Tabeals.

7 Denn also3541 spricht559 der HErr136 HErr3069: Es soll nicht6965 bestehen noch also gehen,

8 sondern wie Damaskus1834 das Haupt7218 ist in Syrien758, so soll Rezin7526 das Haupt7218 zu Damaskus1834 sein. Und über fünfundsechzig2568 Jahre8141 soll es mit Ephraim669 aus sein, daß sie nicht2865 mehr ein Volk5971 seien.

9 Und wie Samaria8111 das Haupt7218 ist539 in Ephraim669, so soll der Sohn1121 Remaljas7425 das Haupt7218 zu Samaria8111 sein539. Glaubt ihr nicht, so bleibt ihr nicht.

10 Und der HErr3068 redete1696 abermal zu3254 Ahas271 und sprach559:

11 Fordere7592 dir ein Zeichen226 vom HErrn3068, deinem GOtt430, es sei unten in der Hölle6009 oder droben4605 in der Höhe1361.

12 Aber Ahas271 sprach559: Ich will‘s nicht fordern7592, daß ich den853 HErrn3068 nicht versuche5254.

13 Da sprach559 er: Wohlan, so höret, ihr vom Hause1004 David1732: Ist‘s euch zu8085 wenig4592, daß ihr die Leute582 beleidiget; ihr müsset auch meinen GOtt430 beleidigen?

14 Darum so wird euch der HErr136 selbst ein Zeichen226 geben5414: Siehe, eine Jungfrau5959 ist schwanger2030 und wird einen Sohn1121 gebären3205, den8034 wird sie heißen7121 Immanuel.

15 Butter2529 und Honig1706 wird2896 er essen398, daß er wisse3045 Böses7451 zu verwerfen3988 und Gutes zu erwählen977.

16 Denn ehe der Knabe5288 lernet Böses7451 verwerfen3988 und Gutes2896 erwählen977, wird3045 das Land127, davor dir grauet, verlassen5800 sein von6440 seinen zween Königen4428.

17 Aber der HErr3068 wird über dich, über dein Volk5971 und über deines Vaters1 Haus1004 Tage3117 kommen lassen, die nicht5493 kommen sind, seit der Zeit3117, da Ephraim669 von Juda3063 geschieden ist935, durch935 den König4428 zu Assyrien804;

18 denn zu der Zeit3117 wird der HErr3068 zischen8319 der Fliege2070 am Ende7097 der Wasser2975 in Ägypten4714 und der Biene1682 im Lande776 Assur804,

19 daß sie kommen935 und alle sich legen5117 an die trockenen1327 Bäche5158 und in die Steinklüfte5357 und in alle Hecken5285 und in alle Büsche5097.

20 Zur selbigen Zeit3117 wird der HErr136 das Haupt7218 und5104 die Haare8181 an Füßen7272 abscheren1548 und den Bart2206 abnehmen5595 durch ein gemietet Schermesser8593, nämlich durch die, so jenseit5676 des Wassers sind, als durch den König4428 von Assyrien804.

21 Zur selbigen Zeit3117 wird ein Mann376 einen Haufen Kühe und zwo Herden6629 ziehen2421

22 und wird so viel7230 zu6213 melken2461 haben, daß er Butter2529 essen398 wird; denn Butter2529 und Honig1706 wird essen398, wer übrig3498 im7130 Lande776 bleiben wird.

23 Denn es wird zu der1612 Zeit3117 geschehen, daß, wo4725 jetzt tausend505 Weinstöcke stehen, tausend505 Silberlinge3701 wert, da werden Dornen8068 und Hecken7898 sein,

24 daß man mit Pfeilen2671 und Bogen7198 dahin gehen935 muß. Denn im ganzen Lande776 werden Dornen8068 und Hecken7898 sein,

25 daß man auch zu all den Bergen2022, so man mit Hauen4576 pflegt umzuhacken5737, nicht kann kommen vor Scheu3374 der Dornen8068 und Hecken7898, sondern man wird4916 Ochsen7794 daselbst gehen935 und Schafe7716 drauf treten lassen4823.
