1 Дирижёру хора. Маскиль Давида,

2 написанный в то время, когда Доик из Идумеи пришёл к Саулу и рассказал ему о том, что Давид находится в доме Ахимелеха.

3 Ты, сильный воин, зачем весь день хвалишься тем злом, которое своими руками сотворил, и Господа тем самым опозорил.

4 Ты всего лишь убийца, который то и дело строит планы, как уничтожить и оклеветать людей.

5 Ложь любишь ты больше правды, зло — сильнее, чем добро. Селах

6 Лживым языком своим ты стремишься вред людям причинить.

7 Бог избавится от тебя навеки! Подобно растению, которое вырывают с корнем, Он вышвырнет тебя из твоего жилища. Селах

8 Когда праведные увидят это, они в страхе скажут, смеясь над тобой:

9 «Вот что случилось с воином, который не хотел на Бога полагаться. Он думал, что его богатство от беды его спасёт».

10 Но я, подобно оливе, цветущей в храме Бога, буду верить в Его бесконечную любовь во веки веков.

11 За Твою доброту вместе со всеми верующими я буду Тебя восхвалять, имя Твоё прославляя!
