Psalm 40

1 I WAITED patiently for the LORD; and he turned towards me and heard my supplication.

2 He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the mire of destruction, and set my feet upon a rock and established my goings.

3 And he has put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God, that many shall see it and rejoice and trust in the LORD.

4 Blessed is the man whose trust is in the name of the LORD, and who returns not to vanity; neither to lying conversation.

5 Many are thy works which thou hast done for us, O LORD our God, and thy wonderful care for us; I have declared that they are too many to be numbered; there is no one like unto thee.

6 Sacrifices and offerings thou didst not desire; but as for me, I now have understanding; burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

7 Then said I, Lo, I come; in the beginning of the en_lbp_books, it is written of me,

8 I delight to do thy will, O my God; yea, thy law is within my heart.

9 I have preached thy righteousness in the great congregation; lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.

10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation; I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD; let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

12 For innumerable evils have surrounded me; mine iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of my head; and my heart fails me.

13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me; O LORD, continue to help me.

14 Let them be ashamed and confounded who seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame who wish me evil.

15 Let them be overthrown for their disgraceful conduct who say to me, Aha, aha!

16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee; let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

17 But I am poor and needy; O my LORD, they have conspired against me; help me and deliver me; do not tarry, O my God.

Псалом 40

1 Начальнику хора. Псалом Давидов.

2 Блажен, кто вникает в состояние нищего! Господь избавит его в день бедствия.

3 Господь сохранит его и даст ему жизнь; блажен будет он на земле. Ты не отдашь его на волю врагов его.

4 Господь укрепит его на одре болезни. Ты совсем изменяешь постель его во время немощи его.

5 Я взываю: Господи! помилуй меня, исцели душу мою, согрешил я пред Тобою.

6 Враги мои говорят обо мне злобно: `когда он умрет, и погибнет имя его?`

7 И если приходит кто посетить меня, говорит суетное; сердце его слагает в себе неправду, и вышедши вон, говорит.

8 Шепчут обо мне между собою враги мои, мыслят обо мне зло:

9 `Слово Велиала пришло на него, он лег; более не встать ему`.

10 Даже человек мира моего, на которого я полагался, который ел хлеб мой, поднял на меня пяту.

11 Итак Ты, Господи, помилуй меня, и восставь меня; и я воздам им.

12 Чрез то узнаю, что ты благоволишь ко мне, если враг мой не восторжествует надо мною.

13 А меня в целости сохрани, и дай мне предстоять пред лицем Твоим вечно.

14 Благословен Господь Бог Израилев из века в век. Аминь, аминь.
