Chapter 22

1 AND Jesus answered again by parables, and said,

2 The kingdom of heaven is like a king who gave a marriage-feast for his son.

3 And he sent his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage-feast, but they would not come.

4 Again he sent other servants and said, Tell those who are invited, Behold my supper is ready, and my oxen and fatlings are killed, and everything is prepared; come to the marriage- feast.

5 But they sneered at it, and went away, one to his field, another to his business;

6 And the rest seized his servants and insulted them, and killed them.

7 When the king heard it he was angry; and he sent out his armies and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.

8 Then he said to his servants, Now the marriage-feast is ready, and those who were invited were unworthy.

9 Go, therefore, to the main roads, and whomever you may find, invite them to the marriage- feast.

10 So the servants went out to the roads and gathered together every one they could find, bad and good; and the wedding-house was filled with guests.

11 When the king entered to see the guests, he saw there a man who was not wearing wedding garments.

12 And he said to him, My friend, how did you enter here, when you do not have wedding garments? And he was speechless.

13 Then the king said to the servants, Bind his hands and his feet and take him out into darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

14 For many are invited, and few are chosen.

15 Then the Pharisees went away and took counsel how to trap him by a word.

16 So they sent to him their disciples together with the Herodians, and they said to him, Teacher, we know that you are true, and you teach the way of God justly; and you do not favor any man, for you do not discriminate between men.

17 Tell us, therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay head-tax to Caesar, or not?

18 But Jesus knew their evil, and said, Why do you tempt me, O hypocrites?

19 Show me the head-tax penny. And they brought to him a penny.

20 And Jesus said to them, Whose is this image and inscription?

21 They said, Caesar's. He said to them, Give therefore to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's.

22 And when they heard it, they were amazed; and they left him and went away.

23 That same day the Sadducees came and said to him, There is no resurrection of the dead; and they asked him,

24 And said to him, Teacher, Moses has told us, If a man die without sons, let his brother take his wife, and raise up offspring for his brother.

25 Now there were with us seven brothers; the first married and died, and because he had no sons, he left his wife to his brother.

26 Likewise the second, also the third, up to the seventh.

27 And after them all the woman also died.

28 Therefore at the resurrection, to which of these seven will she be a wife? for they all married her.

29 Jesus answered, and said to them, You err, because you do not understand the scriptures nor the power of God.

30 For at the resurrection of the dead, they neither marry women, nor are women given to men in marriage, but they are like the angels of God in heaven.

31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God, saying,

32 I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob? And yet God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

33 And when the people heard it, they were amazed at his teaching.

34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.

35 And one of them who knew the law, asked him, testing him,

36 Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said to him, Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your power, and with all your mind.

38 This is the greatest and the first commandment.

39 And the second is like to it, Love your neighbor as yourself.

40 On these two commandments hang the law and the prophets.

41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

42 And he said, What do you say concerning the Christ? whose son is he? They said to him, son of David.

43 He said to them, How is it then that David through the Spirit calls him Lord? For he said,

44 The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet.

45 If David then calls him Lord, how can he be his son?

46 And no man was able to answer him, and from that day no man dared to question him.

1 И опять Иисус стал говорить им притчами. Он сказал:

2 «Царство Небесное подобно царю, устроившему свадебный пир для своего сына.

3 Он послал слуг созвать гостей на пир, но те не захотели прийти.

4 И снова он послал слуг с таким наказом к тем, кого он пригласил: „Послушайте, всё приготовлено для пира: заколоты откормленные телята и быки — всё готово. Приходите на свадебный пир”.

5 Но те, кого они приглашали, не послушали их и разошлись по своим делам. Один пошёл работать в поле, другой пошёл в свою лавку,

6 прочие же схватили царских слуг и избили их до смерти.

7 Царь рассердился. Он послал своих солдат, и те умертвили убийц, и сожгли их город.

8 Тогда царь сказал своим слугам: „Все готово для свадебного пира, но те, кого пригласили, оказались недостойны.

9 Так пойдите же на все перекрёстки и зазывайте всех прохожих ко мне на пир”.

10 Тогда слуги вышли на улицу и созвали всех людей, которых смогли найти: хороших и плохих — и пиршественный зал наполнился гостями.

11 Царь вышел посмотреть на своих гостей и увидел среди них человека в одежде, не подходящей для праздника.

12 Царь сказал ему: „Друг, как же ты попал сюда не в свадебной одежде?” Тот молчал.

13 Тогда царь приказал своим слугам: „Свяжите его по рукам и ногам и бросьте во тьму бесконечную, где рыдают и скрежещут зубами от нестерпимой боли”.

14 Так как много званых, но мало избранных».

15 Тогда фарисеи вышли и стали совещаться о том, как бы поймать Иисуса на слове.

16 Они послали к Нему своих учеников вместе с иродианами. Ученики сказали: «Учитель, мы знаем, что Ты правдив, что истинно учишь пути Божьему и Тебя не заботит то, что скажут о Тебе другие, потому что Ты беспристрастен.

17 Скажи нам, как Тебе кажется, правильно ли платить налоги цезарю или нет?»

18 Иисус знал об их лукавых намерениях и потому сказал: «Лицемеры! Почему вы стараетесь поймать Меня на слове?

19 Покажите Мне монету, которой платите налоги». Ему принесли динарий.

20 Тогда Он спросил их: «Чьё на нём изображение и чьё имя?»

21 Они ответили: «Цезаря». И тогда Иисус сказал им: «Так отдайте цезарю цезарево, а Богу — Божье».

22 Услышав это, они удивились. Затем они оставили Его и ушли прочь.

23 В тот же день к Иисусу пришли саддукеи, которые утверждают, что нет воскресения из мёртвых. Они задали Ему такой вопрос:

24 «Учитель, Моисей учил, что если человек умрёт бездетным, то его брат, как самый близкий родственник, должен жениться на его вдове и иметь с ней детей для продолжения рода своего умершего брата.

25 Среди нас жило семеро братьев. Первый из них женился, а потом умер, и так как у него не было детей, его вдову взял себе в жёны другой брат.

26 То же самое случилось и со вторым, и с третьим братом, и так умерли все семеро братьев,

27 а последней умерла и женщина.

28 И вот мы хотим спросить: в будущей жизни, после воскресения, кому из семерых она будет женой? Ведь все они жили с ней».

29 В ответ Иисус сказал им: «Заблуждаетесь, потому что не знаете ни Писаний, ни силы Божьей.

30 В будущей жизни люди не будут ни жениться, ни выходить замуж. Вместо того они будут подобны Ангелам на небе.

31 Что же касается воскресения из мёртвых, то разве не читали вы, что сказал Бог на благо вам? Он сказал:

32 „Я — Бог Авраама, Бог Исаака и Бог Иакова”. Он — Бог не мёртвых, а живых».

33 И народ, услышав это, дивился Его учению.

34 Когда фарисеи услышали, как Иисус поставил саддукеев в тупик Своим ответом, то они собрались все вместе.

35 Один из них, знаток Закона Моисея, испытывая Иисуса, спросил Его:

36 «Учитель, какая самая важная заповедь в законе?»

37 Иисус ответил ему: « „Люби Господа Бога твоего всем сердцем твоим, всей душой твоей и всем разумом твоим”.

38 Это — первая и самая важная заповедь.

39 Есть вторая заповедь, похожая на эту: „Люби ближнего своего, как самого себя”.

40 Весь закон и все учения пророков основываются на этих двух заповедях».

41 Тогда Иисус спросил собравшихся вместе фарисеев:

42 «Что вы думаете о Христе? Чей Он Сын?» Они ответили: «Сын Давида».

43 Иисус сказал им: «Как же это Давид, вдохновлённый Духом, называл Его Господом, говоря:

44 „Господь Бог сказал Господу Моему: Сядь по правую руку от Меня, пока Я не повергну врагов Твоих к ногам Твоим” ?

45 Так если Давид называл Христа Господом, как же Он может быть Сыном Давида?»

46 Но никто не смог ответить Иисусу, и с того дня никто уже ни о чём не осмеливался Его больше спрашивать.

4 Again he sent other servants and said, Tell those who are invited, Behold my supper is ready, and my oxen and fatlings are killed, and everything is prepared; come to the marriage- feast.	4 И снова он послал слуг с таким наказом к тем, кого он пригласил: „Послушайте, всё приготовлено для пира: заколоты откормленные телята и быки — всё готово. Приходите на свадебный пир”.
5 But they sneered at it, and went away, one to his field, another to his business;	5 Но те, кого они приглашали, не послушали их и разошлись по своим делам. Один пошёл работать в поле, другой пошёл в свою лавку,
6 And the rest seized his servants and insulted them, and killed them.	6 прочие же схватили царских слуг и избили их до смерти.
7 When the king heard it he was angry; and he sent out his armies and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.	7 Царь рассердился. Он послал своих солдат, и те умертвили убийц, и сожгли их город.
8 Then he said to his servants, Now the marriage-feast is ready, and those who were invited were unworthy.	8 Тогда царь сказал своим слугам: „Все готово для свадебного пира, но те, кого пригласили, оказались недостойны.
9 Go, therefore, to the main roads, and whomever you may find, invite them to the marriage- feast.	9 Так пойдите же на все перекрёстки и зазывайте всех прохожих ко мне на пир”.
10 So the servants went out to the roads and gathered together every one they could find, bad and good; and the wedding-house was filled with guests.	10 Тогда слуги вышли на улицу и созвали всех людей, которых смогли найти: хороших и плохих — и пиршественный зал наполнился гостями.
11 When the king entered to see the guests, he saw there a man who was not wearing wedding garments.	11 Царь вышел посмотреть на своих гостей и увидел среди них человека в одежде, не подходящей для праздника.
12 And he said to him, My friend, how did you enter here, when you do not have wedding garments? And he was speechless.	12 Царь сказал ему: „Друг, как же ты попал сюда не в свадебной одежде?” Тот молчал.
13 Then the king said to the servants, Bind his hands and his feet and take him out into darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.	13 Тогда царь приказал своим слугам: „Свяжите его по рукам и ногам и бросьте во тьму бесконечную, где рыдают и скрежещут зубами от нестерпимой боли”.

15 Then the Pharisees went away and took counsel how to trap him by a word.	15 Тогда фарисеи вышли и стали совещаться о том, как бы поймать Иисуса на слове.
16 So they sent to him their disciples together with the Herodians, and they said to him, Teacher, we know that you are true, and you teach the way of God justly; and you do not favor any man, for you do not discriminate between men.	16 Они послали к Нему своих учеников вместе с иродианами. Ученики сказали: «Учитель, мы знаем, что Ты правдив, что истинно учишь пути Божьему и Тебя не заботит то, что скажут о Тебе другие, потому что Ты беспристрастен.
17 Tell us, therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay head-tax to Caesar, or not?	17 Скажи нам, как Тебе кажется, правильно ли платить налоги цезарю или нет?»
18 But Jesus knew their evil, and said, Why do you tempt me, O hypocrites?	18 Иисус знал об их лукавых намерениях и потому сказал: «Лицемеры! Почему вы стараетесь поймать Меня на слове?
19 Show me the head-tax penny. And they brought to him a penny.	19 Покажите Мне монету, которой платите налоги». Ему принесли динарий.
20 And Jesus said to them, Whose is this image and inscription?	20 Тогда Он спросил их: «Чьё на нём изображение и чьё имя?»

23 That same day the Sadducees came and said to him, There is no resurrection of the dead; and they asked him,	23 В тот же день к Иисусу пришли саддукеи, которые утверждают, что нет воскресения из мёртвых. Они задали Ему такой вопрос:
24 And said to him, Teacher, Moses has told us, If a man die without sons, let his brother take his wife, and raise up offspring for his brother.	24 «Учитель, Моисей учил, что если человек умрёт бездетным, то его брат, как самый близкий родственник, должен жениться на его вдове и иметь с ней детей для продолжения рода своего умершего брата.
25 Now there were with us seven brothers; the first married and died, and because he had no sons, he left his wife to his brother.	25 Среди нас жило семеро братьев. Первый из них женился, а потом умер, и так как у него не было детей, его вдову взял себе в жёны другой брат.
26 Likewise the second, also the third, up to the seventh.	26 То же самое случилось и со вторым, и с третьим братом, и так умерли все семеро братьев,
27 And after them all the woman also died.	27 а последней умерла и женщина.
28 Therefore at the resurrection, to which of these seven will she be a wife? for they all married her.	28 И вот мы хотим спросить: в будущей жизни, после воскресения, кому из семерых она будет женой? Ведь все они жили с ней».
29 Jesus answered, and said to them, You err, because you do not understand the scriptures nor the power of God.	29 В ответ Иисус сказал им: «Заблуждаетесь, потому что не знаете ни Писаний, ни силы Божьей.

36 Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?	36 «Учитель, какая самая важная заповедь в законе?»
37 Jesus said to him, Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your power, and with all your mind.	37 Иисус ответил ему: « „Люби Господа Бога твоего всем сердцем твоим, всей душой твоей и всем разумом твоим”.
38 This is the greatest and the first commandment.	38 Это — первая и самая важная заповедь.

46 And no man was able to answer him, and from that day no man dared to question him.	46 Но никто не смог ответить Иисусу, и с того дня никто уже ни о чём не осмеливался Его больше спрашивать.
