Chapter 22

1 AND Jesus answered again by parables, and said,

2 The kingdom of heaven is like a king who gave a marriage-feast for his son.

3 And he sent his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage-feast, but they would not come.

4 Again he sent other servants and said, Tell those who are invited, Behold my supper is ready, and my oxen and fatlings are killed, and everything is prepared; come to the marriage- feast.

5 But they sneered at it, and went away, one to his field, another to his business;

6 And the rest seized his servants and insulted them, and killed them.

7 When the king heard it he was angry; and he sent out his armies and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.

8 Then he said to his servants, Now the marriage-feast is ready, and those who were invited were unworthy.

9 Go, therefore, to the main roads, and whomever you may find, invite them to the marriage- feast.

10 So the servants went out to the roads and gathered together every one they could find, bad and good; and the wedding-house was filled with guests.

11 When the king entered to see the guests, he saw there a man who was not wearing wedding garments.

12 And he said to him, My friend, how did you enter here, when you do not have wedding garments? And he was speechless.

13 Then the king said to the servants, Bind his hands and his feet and take him out into darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

14 For many are invited, and few are chosen.

15 Then the Pharisees went away and took counsel how to trap him by a word.

16 So they sent to him their disciples together with the Herodians, and they said to him, Teacher, we know that you are true, and you teach the way of God justly; and you do not favor any man, for you do not discriminate between men.

17 Tell us, therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay head-tax to Caesar, or not?

18 But Jesus knew their evil, and said, Why do you tempt me, O hypocrites?

19 Show me the head-tax penny. And they brought to him a penny.

20 And Jesus said to them, Whose is this image and inscription?

21 They said, Caesar's. He said to them, Give therefore to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's.

22 And when they heard it, they were amazed; and they left him and went away.

23 That same day the Sadducees came and said to him, There is no resurrection of the dead; and they asked him,

24 And said to him, Teacher, Moses has told us, If a man die without sons, let his brother take his wife, and raise up offspring for his brother.

25 Now there were with us seven brothers; the first married and died, and because he had no sons, he left his wife to his brother.

26 Likewise the second, also the third, up to the seventh.

27 And after them all the woman also died.

28 Therefore at the resurrection, to which of these seven will she be a wife? for they all married her.

29 Jesus answered, and said to them, You err, because you do not understand the scriptures nor the power of God.

30 For at the resurrection of the dead, they neither marry women, nor are women given to men in marriage, but they are like the angels of God in heaven.

31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God, saying,

32 I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob? And yet God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

33 And when the people heard it, they were amazed at his teaching.

34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.

35 And one of them who knew the law, asked him, testing him,

36 Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said to him, Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your power, and with all your mind.

38 This is the greatest and the first commandment.

39 And the second is like to it, Love your neighbor as yourself.

40 On these two commandments hang the law and the prophets.

41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

42 And he said, What do you say concerning the Christ? whose son is he? They said to him, son of David.

43 He said to them, How is it then that David through the Spirit calls him Lord? For he said,

44 The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet.

45 If David then calls him Lord, how can he be his son?

46 And no man was able to answer him, and from that day no man dared to question him.

1 И снова Иисус обратился к ним в притчах:

2 подобно Царство Небесное человеку царю, который устроил брачный пир для сына своего

3 и послал слуг своих позвать званых на брачный пир; и они не хотели придти.

4 Снова послал других слуг, говоря: скажите званым: «вот, обед мой я приготовил, быки мои и откормленный скот заколоты, и всё готово; приходите на брачный пир».

5 Они же, оставив его слова без внимания, ушли, кто — на свое поле, кто — на торговлю свою.

6 Прочие же схватили слуг его, оскорбили и убили их.

7 Разгневался царь и, послав войска свои, истребил убийц тех и город их сжег.

8 Тогда говорит он слугам своим: «брачный пир готов, но званые не были достойны;

9 идите же на концы улиц и, кого только найдете, зовите на брачный пир».

10 И вышли слуги те на дороги и собрали всех, кого нашли: и злых и добрых; и наполнилась брачная палата возлежащими.

11 Вошел царь посмотреть на возлежащих и увидел там человека, одетого не в брачную одежду,

12 и говорит ему: «друг, как ты вошел сюда не в брачной одежде?» Он же промолчал.

13 Тогда царь сказал служителям: «свяжите ему ноги и руки и выбросьте его во тьму внешнюю: там будет плач и скрежет зубов».

14 Ибо много званых, но мало избранных.

15 Тогда фарисеи пошли и приняли решение уловить Его в слове.

16 И посылают учеников своих с иродианами спросить Его: Учитель, мы знаем, что Ты истинен и пути Божию истинно учишь, и не считаешься ни с кем; ибо не смотришь на лицо людей.

17 Итак, скажи нам: как Тебе кажется? Можно платить подать кесарю, или нет?

18 Но Иисус, поняв их лукавство, сказал: что Меня искушаете, лицемеры?

19 Покажите Мне монету, которою платится подать. Они же принесли Ему динарий.

20 И говорит им: чье это изображение и надпись?

21 Говорят: кесаря. Тогда говорит им: отдавайте же кесарево кесарю, а Божие — Богу.

22 И услышав, они удивились и, оставив Его, ушли.

23 В тот день подошли к Нему саддукеи, утверждающие, что нет воскресения, и спросили Его:

24 Учитель, Моисей сказал: «если кто умрет, не имея детей, то брат его пусть женится на жене его и восстановит семя брату своему».

25 Было же у нас семь братьев: и первый, женившись, скончался и, так как от него не было семени, то жену свою он оставил брату своему;

26 подобно и второй и третий, до семи;

27 после же всех умерла жена.

28 Итак, в воскресение, кого из семи будет она женой? Все, ведь, имели ее.

29 Иисус же ответил им: вы заблуждаетесь, не зная Писаний, ни силы Божией.

30 В воскресение не женятся, и замуж не выходят, но пребывают как ангелы на небе.

31 А о воскресении мертвых неужели вы не читали сказанного вам Богом:

32 «Я Бог Авраама, и Бог Исаака, и Бог Иакова»? Бог — не мертвых, но живых.

33 И услышав, народ изумлялся учению Его.

34 Фарисеи же, услышав, что Он заградил уста саддукеям, собрались вокруг Него.

35 И спросил один из них, законник, искушая Его:

36 Учитель, какая заповедь большая в Законе?

37 Он же сказал ему: «Возлюби Господа Бога твоего всем сердцем твоим и всею душою твоею и всем разумом твоим»:

38 это — большая и первая заповедь.

39 Вторая подобна ей: «Возлюби ближнего твоего, как самого себя».

40 На этих двух заповедях держится весь Закон и Пророки.

41 Когда же собрались фарисеи, спросил их Иисус:

42 Что вы думаете о Христе? Чей Он сын? Говорят Ему: Давидов.

43 Говорит им: как же Давид в Духе называет Его Господом, говоря:

44 «Сказал Господь Господу моему: сядь по правую сторону Мою, доколе Я не положу врагов Твоих под ноги Твои»?

45 Итак, если Давид называет Его Господом, как же Он сын его?

46 И никто не мог ответить Ему. И с того дня никто уже не посмел задать Ему вопроса.

3 And he sent his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage-feast, but they would not come.	3 и послал слуг своих позвать званых на брачный пир; и они не хотели придти.
4 Again he sent other servants and said, Tell those who are invited, Behold my supper is ready, and my oxen and fatlings are killed, and everything is prepared; come to the marriage- feast.	4 Снова послал других слуг, говоря: скажите званым: «вот, обед мой я приготовил, быки мои и откормленный скот заколоты, и всё готово; приходите на брачный пир».
5 But they sneered at it, and went away, one to his field, another to his business;	5 Они же, оставив его слова без внимания, ушли, кто — на свое поле, кто — на торговлю свою.
6 And the rest seized his servants and insulted them, and killed them.	6 Прочие же схватили слуг его, оскорбили и убили их.
7 When the king heard it he was angry; and he sent out his armies and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.	7 Разгневался царь и, послав войска свои, истребил убийц тех и город их сжег.
8 Then he said to his servants, Now the marriage-feast is ready, and those who were invited were unworthy.	8 Тогда говорит он слугам своим: «брачный пир готов, но званые не были достойны;
9 Go, therefore, to the main roads, and whomever you may find, invite them to the marriage- feast.	9 идите же на концы улиц и, кого только найдете, зовите на брачный пир».
10 So the servants went out to the roads and gathered together every one they could find, bad and good; and the wedding-house was filled with guests.	10 И вышли слуги те на дороги и собрали всех, кого нашли: и злых и добрых; и наполнилась брачная палата возлежащими.
11 When the king entered to see the guests, he saw there a man who was not wearing wedding garments.	11 Вошел царь посмотреть на возлежащих и увидел там человека, одетого не в брачную одежду,
12 And he said to him, My friend, how did you enter here, when you do not have wedding garments? And he was speechless.	12 и говорит ему: «друг, как ты вошел сюда не в брачной одежде?» Он же промолчал.
13 Then the king said to the servants, Bind his hands and his feet and take him out into darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.	13 Тогда царь сказал служителям: «свяжите ему ноги и руки и выбросьте его во тьму внешнюю: там будет плач и скрежет зубов».
14 For many are invited, and few are chosen.	14 Ибо много званых, но мало избранных.
15 Then the Pharisees went away and took counsel how to trap him by a word.	15 Тогда фарисеи пошли и приняли решение уловить Его в слове.
16 So they sent to him their disciples together with the Herodians, and they said to him, Teacher, we know that you are true, and you teach the way of God justly; and you do not favor any man, for you do not discriminate between men.	16 И посылают учеников своих с иродианами спросить Его: Учитель, мы знаем, что Ты истинен и пути Божию истинно учишь, и не считаешься ни с кем; ибо не смотришь на лицо людей.
17 Tell us, therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay head-tax to Caesar, or not?	17 Итак, скажи нам: как Тебе кажется? Можно платить подать кесарю, или нет?
18 But Jesus knew their evil, and said, Why do you tempt me, O hypocrites?	18 Но Иисус, поняв их лукавство, сказал: что Меня искушаете, лицемеры?
19 Show me the head-tax penny. And they brought to him a penny.	19 Покажите Мне монету, которою платится подать. Они же принесли Ему динарий.
20 And Jesus said to them, Whose is this image and inscription?	20 И говорит им: чье это изображение и надпись?
21 They said, Caesar's. He said to them, Give therefore to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's.	21 Говорят: кесаря. Тогда говорит им: отдавайте же кесарево кесарю, а Божие — Богу.
22 And when they heard it, they were amazed; and they left him and went away.	22 И услышав, они удивились и, оставив Его, ушли.
23 That same day the Sadducees came and said to him, There is no resurrection of the dead; and they asked him,	23 В тот день подошли к Нему саддукеи, утверждающие, что нет воскресения, и спросили Его:
24 And said to him, Teacher, Moses has told us, If a man die without sons, let his brother take his wife, and raise up offspring for his brother.	24 Учитель, Моисей сказал: «если кто умрет, не имея детей, то брат его пусть женится на жене его и восстановит семя брату своему».
25 Now there were with us seven brothers; the first married and died, and because he had no sons, he left his wife to his brother.	25 Было же у нас семь братьев: и первый, женившись, скончался и, так как от него не было семени, то жену свою он оставил брату своему;
26 Likewise the second, also the third, up to the seventh.	26 подобно и второй и третий, до семи;
27 And after them all the woman also died.	27 после же всех умерла жена.
28 Therefore at the resurrection, to which of these seven will she be a wife? for they all married her.	28 Итак, в воскресение, кого из семи будет она женой? Все, ведь, имели ее.
29 Jesus answered, and said to them, You err, because you do not understand the scriptures nor the power of God.	29 Иисус же ответил им: вы заблуждаетесь, не зная Писаний, ни силы Божией.
30 For at the resurrection of the dead, they neither marry women, nor are women given to men in marriage, but they are like the angels of God in heaven.	30 В воскресение не женятся, и замуж не выходят, но пребывают как ангелы на небе.
31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God, saying,	31 А о воскресении мертвых неужели вы не читали сказанного вам Богом:
32 I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob? And yet God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.	32 «Я Бог Авраама, и Бог Исаака, и Бог Иакова»? Бог — не мертвых, но живых.
33 And when the people heard it, they were amazed at his teaching.	33 И услышав, народ изумлялся учению Его.
34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.	34 Фарисеи же, услышав, что Он заградил уста саддукеям, собрались вокруг Него.
35 And one of them who knew the law, asked him, testing him,	35 И спросил один из них, законник, искушая Его:
36 Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?	36 Учитель, какая заповедь большая в Законе?
37 Jesus said to him, Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your power, and with all your mind.	37 Он же сказал ему: «Возлюби Господа Бога твоего всем сердцем твоим и всею душою твоею и всем разумом твоим»:
