Chapter 22

1 AND Jesus answered again by parables, and said,

2 The kingdom of heaven is like a king who gave a marriage-feast for his son.

3 And he sent his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage-feast, but they would not come.

4 Again he sent other servants and said, Tell those who are invited, Behold my supper is ready, and my oxen and fatlings are killed, and everything is prepared; come to the marriage- feast.

5 But they sneered at it, and went away, one to his field, another to his business;

6 And the rest seized his servants and insulted them, and killed them.

7 When the king heard it he was angry; and he sent out his armies and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.

8 Then he said to his servants, Now the marriage-feast is ready, and those who were invited were unworthy.

9 Go, therefore, to the main roads, and whomever you may find, invite them to the marriage- feast.

10 So the servants went out to the roads and gathered together every one they could find, bad and good; and the wedding-house was filled with guests.

11 When the king entered to see the guests, he saw there a man who was not wearing wedding garments.

12 And he said to him, My friend, how did you enter here, when you do not have wedding garments? And he was speechless.

13 Then the king said to the servants, Bind his hands and his feet and take him out into darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

14 For many are invited, and few are chosen.

15 Then the Pharisees went away and took counsel how to trap him by a word.

16 So they sent to him their disciples together with the Herodians, and they said to him, Teacher, we know that you are true, and you teach the way of God justly; and you do not favor any man, for you do not discriminate between men.

17 Tell us, therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay head-tax to Caesar, or not?

18 But Jesus knew their evil, and said, Why do you tempt me, O hypocrites?

19 Show me the head-tax penny. And they brought to him a penny.

20 And Jesus said to them, Whose is this image and inscription?

21 They said, Caesar's. He said to them, Give therefore to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's.

22 And when they heard it, they were amazed; and they left him and went away.

23 That same day the Sadducees came and said to him, There is no resurrection of the dead; and they asked him,

24 And said to him, Teacher, Moses has told us, If a man die without sons, let his brother take his wife, and raise up offspring for his brother.

25 Now there were with us seven brothers; the first married and died, and because he had no sons, he left his wife to his brother.

26 Likewise the second, also the third, up to the seventh.

27 And after them all the woman also died.

28 Therefore at the resurrection, to which of these seven will she be a wife? for they all married her.

29 Jesus answered, and said to them, You err, because you do not understand the scriptures nor the power of God.

30 For at the resurrection of the dead, they neither marry women, nor are women given to men in marriage, but they are like the angels of God in heaven.

31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God, saying,

32 I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob? And yet God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

33 And when the people heard it, they were amazed at his teaching.

34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.

35 And one of them who knew the law, asked him, testing him,

36 Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said to him, Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your power, and with all your mind.

38 This is the greatest and the first commandment.

39 And the second is like to it, Love your neighbor as yourself.

40 On these two commandments hang the law and the prophets.

41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

42 And he said, What do you say concerning the Christ? whose son is he? They said to him, son of David.

43 He said to them, How is it then that David through the Spirit calls him Lord? For he said,

44 The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet.

45 If David then calls him Lord, how can he be his son?

46 And no man was able to answer him, and from that day no man dared to question him.

1 Иисус продолжал учить народ в притчах, говоря:

2 — Царство Небесное можно сравнить со свадебным пиром, который один царь приготовил для своего сына.

3 Он разослал к приглашенным своих слуг, чтобы позвать их на свадьбу, но приглашенные не хотели прийти.

4 Тогда царь послал других слуг, наказав им: «Пойдите и скажите им, что мой пир уже готов, зарезаны быки и другой откормленный скот, все угощение готово, пусть приходят на свадебный пир».

5 Приглашенные, однако, не обратили на это никакого внимания и разошлись. Один пошел на свое поле, другой торговать,

6 а некоторые даже схватили посланных слуг, унизили и убили их.

7 Царь был разгневан. Он послал свое войско, уничтожил тех убийц и сжег их город.

8 Потом он сказал своим слугам: «Свадебный пир готов, но те, кого я пригласил, не заслужили чести быть на нем.

9 Пойдите теперь на перекрестки дорог и приглашайте на пир всех, кого вы встретите».

10 Слуги пошли по улицам и стали созывать всех, кого встречали, злых и добрых, и пиршественный зал наполнился гостями, которые возлежали за столами.

11 Когда же царь пришел посмотреть на возлежащих, он заметил человека, на котором не было свадебной одежды.

12 «Друг, — спросил царь, — как это ты вошел сюда без свадебной одежды?» Человеку нечего было сказать.

13 Тогда царь приказал слугам: «Свяжите его по рукам и ногам и выбросьте вон, во тьму, где будет плач и скрежет зубов».

14 Ведь приглашенных много, но избранных мало.

15 После этого фарисеи стали советоваться, как бы им поймать Иисуса на слове.

16 Они подослали к Нему своих учеников и иродиан. — Учитель, — спросили они, — мы знаем, что Ты Человек честный и истинно учишь пути Божьему. Ты беспристрастен и не стремишься никому угодить.

17 Скажи нам, как Ты считаешь, следует ли платить налог кесарю или нет?

18 Иисус, зная их коварные намерения, сказал: — Лицемеры, вы хотите поймать Меня на слове?

19 Покажите Мне монету, которой платится дань. Они принесли Ему динарий.

20 Иисус спросил их: — Кто на ней изображен, и чье на ней имя?

21 — Кесаря, — ответили они. Тогда Иисус сказал им: — Так и отдавайте кесарево кесарю, а Божье — Богу.

22 Услышав это, они удивились, и, оставив Иисуса, они ушли.

23 В тот же день саддукеи, которые утверждают, что нет воскресения мертвых, подошли к Иисусу. Они спросили Его:

24 — Учитель, Моисей сказал, что если кто-либо умрет, не оставив детей, то его брат должен жениться на вдове и восстановить род своему брату.

25 Так вот, у нас тут было семь братьев. Первый женился и умер бездетным, и вдова стала женой его брата.

26 То же самое произошло и со вторым, и с третьим, и со всеми семью братьями.

27 После всех умерла и женщина.

28 Итак, после воскресения, которому из семи братьев она будет женой? Ведь все были ее мужьями.

29 Иисус ответил: — Вы заблуждаетесь, потому что не знаете ни Писаний, ни силы Божьей.

30 Воскреснув, люди не будут ни жениться, ни выходить замуж, а будут как ангелы на небесах.

31 Что же касается воскресения мертвых, то разве вы не читали, что сказал вам Бог:

32 «Я — Бог Авраама, Бог Исаака и Бог Иакова»? Он Бог не мертвых, а живых.

33 Люди слушали и удивлялись Его учению.

34 Фарисеи же, услышав, как Иисус заставил замолчать саддукеев, собрались вокруг Него.

35 Один из них, учитель Закона, чтобы поймать Иисуса на слове, спросил:

36 — Учитель, какая заповедь в Законе самая важная?

37 Иисус ответил: — «Люби Господа, Бога твоего, всем сердцем твоим и всей душой твоей и всем разумом твоим».

38 Это первая и самая важная заповедь.

39 Вторая же подобна ей: «Люби ближнего твоего, как самого себя».

40 Весь Закон и учение пророков основаны на этих двух заповедях.

41 Когда фарисеи собрались вместе, Иисус спросил их:

42 — Что вы думаете о Христе? Чей Он Сын? — Сын Давида, — ответили Ему.

43 Иисус говорит им: — Почему же тогда Давид, вдохновляемый Духом, называет Его Господом? Ведь он говорит:

44 «Сказал Господь Господу моему: Сядь по правую руку от Меня, пока Я не повергну врагов Твоих к ногам Твоим».

45 Итак, если Давид называет Его Господом, то как же в таком случае Он может быть ему Сыном?

46 В ответ никто не мог сказать ни слова, и с этого дня они больше не решались задавать Ему вопросы.

4 Again he sent other servants and said, Tell those who are invited, Behold my supper is ready, and my oxen and fatlings are killed, and everything is prepared; come to the marriage- feast.	4 Тогда царь послал других слуг, наказав им: «Пойдите и скажите им, что мой пир уже готов, зарезаны быки и другой откормленный скот, все угощение готово, пусть приходят на свадебный пир».

9 Go, therefore, to the main roads, and whomever you may find, invite them to the marriage- feast.	9 Пойдите теперь на перекрестки дорог и приглашайте на пир всех, кого вы встретите».
10 So the servants went out to the roads and gathered together every one they could find, bad and good; and the wedding-house was filled with guests.	10 Слуги пошли по улицам и стали созывать всех, кого встречали, злых и добрых, и пиршественный зал наполнился гостями, которые возлежали за столами.
11 When the king entered to see the guests, he saw there a man who was not wearing wedding garments.	11 Когда же царь пришел посмотреть на возлежащих, он заметил человека, на котором не было свадебной одежды.
12 And he said to him, My friend, how did you enter here, when you do not have wedding garments? And he was speechless.	12 «Друг, — спросил царь, — как это ты вошел сюда без свадебной одежды?» Человеку нечего было сказать.
13 Then the king said to the servants, Bind his hands and his feet and take him out into darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.	13 Тогда царь приказал слугам: «Свяжите его по рукам и ногам и выбросьте вон, во тьму, где будет плач и скрежет зубов».

22 And when they heard it, they were amazed; and they left him and went away.	22 Услышав это, они удивились, и, оставив Иисуса, они ушли.
23 That same day the Sadducees came and said to him, There is no resurrection of the dead; and they asked him,	23 В тот же день саддукеи, которые утверждают, что нет воскресения мертвых, подошли к Иисусу. Они спросили Его:

36 Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?	36 — Учитель, какая заповедь в Законе самая важная?
37 Jesus said to him, Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your power, and with all your mind.	37 Иисус ответил: — «Люби Господа, Бога твоего, всем сердцем твоим и всей душой твоей и всем разумом твоим».
38 This is the greatest and the first commandment.	38 Это первая и самая важная заповедь.
