Chapter 14

1 THEN came certain of the elders of Israel to me to inquire of the LORD, and sat before me.

2 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

3 Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumbling block of their iniquity before their faces; I will seek vengeance from them.

4 Therefore speak to them and say to them, Thus says the LORD God: Every man of the house of Israel who sets up his idols in his heart and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face and comes to the prophet, I the LORD will be a witness against him because of the multitude of his idols,

5 That I may take the house of Israel in the imagination of their own hearts, because they have departed from me through all their idols.

6 Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the LORD God: Repent, and turn away from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

7 For every one of the house of Israel, or of the proselytes who dwell in Israel, who departs from me and sets up idols in his heart and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face and comes to a prophet to inquire of him, I the LORD will be a witness against him;

8 And I will pour out my anger against that man, and I will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will destroy him from the midst of my people; and you shall know that I am the LORD.

9 And when a prophet shall err and speak a word, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him, and I will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

10 And they shall both bear the punishment of their iniquity; the punishment of him who seeks to inquire shall be like the punishment of the prophet,

11 That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people and I may be their God, says the LORD God.

12 The word of the LORD came to me, saying,

13 Son of man, if a land should sin against me and commit iniquity before me, then I will stretch out my hand against it, and will break the staff of its wheat; and I will send famine upon it, and will destroy man and beast from it;

14 Though these three men, Noah, Daniel and Job were in the land, they would deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, says the LORD God.

15 And if I should send vicious beasts against the land, and they destroy it so that it become desolate, so that no man could pass through because of the wild beasts;

16 Though these three men were in it, as I live, says the LORD God, they would deliver neither sons nor daughters; but they alone would be delivered and the land would be made desolate.

17 Or if I should bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through that land, and I destroy man and beast from it;

18 Though these three men were in it, as I live, says the LORD God, they would deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they alone would be delivered.

19 Or if I should send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, and destroy from it man and beast;

20 Though Noah, Daniel and Job were in it, as I live, says the LORD God, they would deliver neither son nor daughter; but they would only deliver themselves by their righteousness.

21 For thus says the LORD God: How much more when I send four sore judgments upon Jerusalem: the sword and famine and vicious beasts and pestilence, to destroy from it man and beast.

22 Yet there shall be left in it those who will be delivered, who will bring forth sons and daughters; and even they shall come forth to you, and you shall see their ways and their doings; and you shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.

23 And they shall comfort you when you see their ways and their doings; and you shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, says the LORD God.

1 И пришло ко мне несколько человек из старейшин Израилевых, и сели пред лицем моим.

2 И было ко мне слово Иеговы, и сказано:

3 Сын человеческий! Сии люди идолам своим дали доступ к сердцу своему, и поставили соблазн беззакония своего пред лицем своим: а Я, Я позволю им обрести Меня?

4 Посему говори с ними, и скажи им: так говорит Господь Иегова: если кто из дома Израилева идолам своим дает доступ к сердцу своему, и поставляет соблазн беззакония своего пред лицем своим, и придет к пророку: то Я, Иегова, соразмерно сему, то есть по множеству идолов его, дам ему ответ такой,

5 Чтобы дом Израилев понял в сердце своем, что они чрез своих идолов сделались для Меня чуждыми, все они!

6 Посему скажи дому Израилеву: так говорит Господь Иегова: обратитесь, и отвратитесь от идолов своих, и от всех мерзостей своих отвратите лице свое.

7 Ибо если кто из дома Израилева и из пришельцев, которые живут у Израиля, отложится от Меня, и идолам своим даст доступ к сердцу своему, и поставит соблазн беззакония своего пред лицем своим, и придет к пророку искать Меня, посредством его: то Я, Иегова, дам ему ответ, приличный Мне;

8 И обращу лице Мое против того человека, и сделаю его памятником и притчею, и истреблю его из народа Моего, и узнаете, что Я Иегова.

9 А если пророк позволит обольстить себя, и скажет слово: то Я, Иегова, допущу того пророка до обольщения, но простру на него руку Мою, и истреблю его из народа Моего, Израиля.

10 И понесут вину свою; какова вина вопрошающего, такова будет вина и пророка.

11 Чтобы впредь не блуждал дом Израилев, уклонившись от Меня, и уже не оскверняли бы себя всякими пороками своими; но чтоб они были для Меня народом, и Я был бы для них Богом, говорит Господь Иегова.

12 И было ко мне слово Иеговы, и сказано:

13 Сын человеческий! если бы какая земля сделалась предо Мною виновна беззакониями своими, и Я простер бы на нее руку Мою, и истребил в ней хлеб, подкрепляющий человека, и послал бы на нее голод, и стал бы губить на ней людей и скот;

14 И нашлись бы в ней сии три мужа: Ной, Даниил, и Иов: то они праведностью своею свои души и сохранили бы, говорит Господь Иегова.

15 Или, если бы Я лютых зверей напустил на землю, которые бы осиротили ее, и она, по причине зверей, сделалась бы пуста, непроходима для прохожего;

16 То сии три мужа среди ее, - жив Я, говорит Господь Иегова, - не спасли бы ни сыновей, ни дочерей, сами только остались бы целы, а земля сделалась бы пустынею.

17 Или, если бы Я навел меч на ту землю, и сказал бы: `меч, пройди по земле!` и стал бы истреблять с нее людей и скот:

18 То сии три мужа среди ее, - жив Я, говорит Господь Иегова, - не спасли бы сыновей и дочерей, а только сами спаслись бы.

19 Или, если бы Я моровую язву послал на ту землю, и излил бы на нее ярость Мою посредством кровопролития, чтобы истребить с ней людей и скот:

20 То Ной, Даниил и Иов среди ее, - жив Я, говорит Господь Иегова, - не спасли бы ни сыновей, ни дочерей; они праведностью своею свои души и сохранили бы.

21 Ибо так говорит Господь Иегова: если и четыре тяжкие казни Мои: меч, и голод, и лютых зверей, и моровую язву на Иерусалим пошлю, чтобы истребить из него людей и скот;

22 И се, останется в нем уцелевшее, сыновья и дочери, которые будут выведены оттуда; вот они выйдут к вам, и вы увидите поведение их и поступки их; и утешитесь о том бедствии, которое Я навел на Иерусалим, о всем, что Я навел на него.

23 Так, они утешат вас, когда вы увидите поведение их и поступки их; и узнаете, что Я не напрасно сделал все то, что сделал с ним, говорит Господь Иегова.

1 THEN came certain of the elders of Israel to me to inquire of the LORD, and sat before me.

1 И пришло ко мне несколько человек из старейшин Израилевых, и сели пред лицем моим.

2 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

2 И было ко мне слово Иеговы, и сказано:

3 Сын человеческий! Сии люди идолам своим дали доступ к сердцу своему, и поставили соблазн беззакония своего пред лицем своим: а Я, Я позволю им обрести Меня?

4 Therefore speak to them and say to them, Thus says the LORD God: Every man of the house of Israel who sets up his idols in his heart and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face and comes to the prophet, I the LORD will be a witness against him because of the multitude of his idols,

4 Посему говори с ними, и скажи им: так говорит Господь Иегова: если кто из дома Израилева идолам своим дает доступ к сердцу своему, и поставляет соблазн беззакония своего пред лицем своим, и придет к пророку: то Я, Иегова, соразмерно сему, то есть по множеству идолов его, дам ему ответ такой,

5 That I may take the house of Israel in the imagination of their own hearts, because they have departed from me through all their idols.

5 Чтобы дом Израилев понял в сердце своем, что они чрез своих идолов сделались для Меня чуждыми, все они!

6 Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the LORD God: Repent, and turn away from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

6 Посему скажи дому Израилеву: так говорит Господь Иегова: обратитесь, и отвратитесь от идолов своих, и от всех мерзостей своих отвратите лице свое.

7 Ибо если кто из дома Израилева и из пришельцев, которые живут у Израиля, отложится от Меня, и идолам своим даст доступ к сердцу своему, и поставит соблазн беззакония своего пред лицем своим, и придет к пророку искать Меня, посредством его: то Я, Иегова, дам ему ответ, приличный Мне;

8 And I will pour out my anger against that man, and I will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will destroy him from the midst of my people; and you shall know that I am the LORD.

8 И обращу лице Мое против того человека, и сделаю его памятником и притчею, и истреблю его из народа Моего, и узнаете, что Я Иегова.

9 And when a prophet shall err and speak a word, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him, and I will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

9 А если пророк позволит обольстить себя, и скажет слово: то Я, Иегова, допущу того пророка до обольщения, но простру на него руку Мою, и истреблю его из народа Моего, Израиля.

10 And they shall both bear the punishment of their iniquity; the punishment of him who seeks to inquire shall be like the punishment of the prophet,

10 И понесут вину свою; какова вина вопрошающего, такова будет вина и пророка.

11 That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people and I may be their God, says the LORD God.

11 Чтобы впредь не блуждал дом Израилев, уклонившись от Меня, и уже не оскверняли бы себя всякими пороками своими; но чтоб они были для Меня народом, и Я был бы для них Богом, говорит Господь Иегова.

12 The word of the LORD came to me, saying,

12 И было ко мне слово Иеговы, и сказано:

13 Son of man, if a land should sin against me and commit iniquity before me, then I will stretch out my hand against it, and will break the staff of its wheat; and I will send famine upon it, and will destroy man and beast from it;

13 Сын человеческий! если бы какая земля сделалась предо Мною виновна беззакониями своими, и Я простер бы на нее руку Мою, и истребил в ней хлеб, подкрепляющий человека, и послал бы на нее голод, и стал бы губить на ней людей и скот;

14 Though these three men, Noah, Daniel and Job were in the land, they would deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, says the LORD God.

14 И нашлись бы в ней сии три мужа: Ной, Даниил, и Иов: то они праведностью своею свои души и сохранили бы, говорит Господь Иегова.

15 And if I should send vicious beasts against the land, and they destroy it so that it become desolate, so that no man could pass through because of the wild beasts;

15 Или, если бы Я лютых зверей напустил на землю, которые бы осиротили ее, и она, по причине зверей, сделалась бы пуста, непроходима для прохожего;

16 Though these three men were in it, as I live, says the LORD God, they would deliver neither sons nor daughters; but they alone would be delivered and the land would be made desolate.

16 То сии три мужа среди ее, - жив Я, говорит Господь Иегова, - не спасли бы ни сыновей, ни дочерей, сами только остались бы целы, а земля сделалась бы пустынею.

17 Или, если бы Я навел меч на ту землю, и сказал бы: `меч, пройди по земле!` и стал бы истреблять с нее людей и скот:

18 То сии три мужа среди ее, - жив Я, говорит Господь Иегова, - не спасли бы сыновей и дочерей, а только сами спаслись бы.

19 Or if I should send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, and destroy from it man and beast;

19 Или, если бы Я моровую язву послал на ту землю, и излил бы на нее ярость Мою посредством кровопролития, чтобы истребить с ней людей и скот:

20 Though Noah, Daniel and Job were in it, as I live, says the LORD God, they would deliver neither son nor daughter; but they would only deliver themselves by their righteousness.

20 То Ной, Даниил и Иов среди ее, - жив Я, говорит Господь Иегова, - не спасли бы ни сыновей, ни дочерей; они праведностью своею свои души и сохранили бы.

21 For thus says the LORD God: How much more when I send four sore judgments upon Jerusalem: the sword and famine and vicious beasts and pestilence, to destroy from it man and beast.

21 Ибо так говорит Господь Иегова: если и четыре тяжкие казни Мои: меч, и голод, и лютых зверей, и моровую язву на Иерусалим пошлю, чтобы истребить из него людей и скот;

22 Yet there shall be left in it those who will be delivered, who will bring forth sons and daughters; and even they shall come forth to you, and you shall see their ways and their doings; and you shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.

22 И се, останется в нем уцелевшее, сыновья и дочери, которые будут выведены оттуда; вот они выйдут к вам, и вы увидите поведение их и поступки их; и утешитесь о том бедствии, которое Я навел на Иерусалим, о всем, что Я навел на него.

23 And they shall comfort you when you see their ways and their doings; and you shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, says the LORD God.

23 Так, они утешат вас, когда вы увидите поведение их и поступки их; и узнаете, что Я не напрасно сделал все то, что сделал с ним, говорит Господь Иегова.
