Исход

Глава 18

1 Иофор, мадиамский священник, тесть Моисея, услышал о том, что Бог во многом помогал Моисею и народу Израиля, и о том, что Господь вывел израильский народ из Египта.

2 Иофор, взяв с собой жену Моисея Сепфору, пришёл к Моисею в его стан у горы Божьей. Сепфора не была с Моисеем, потому что он отослал её домой.

3 Он привёл с собой также обоих сыновей Моисея: первенца, которого звали Гирсон, потому что, когда он родился, Моисей сказал: «Я — пришелец в чужой стране»,

4 и второго сына, которого звали Елиезер, потому что, когда он родился, Моисей сказал: «Бог моего отца помог мне и спас от египетского царя».

5 Иофор пришёл к Моисею, когда тот поставил стан в пустыне у горы Божьей, с женой Моисея и его двумя сыновьями.

6 «Я твой тесть, Иофор, — сказал он, — я веду к тебе твою жену и её двоих сыновей».

7 Моисей вышел навстречу своему тестю, поклонился ему и поцеловал его. Мужчины спросили друг друга о здоровье, а потом вошли в шатёр Моисея, чтобы продолжить разговор.

8 Моисей рассказал Иофору обо всём, что Господь сделал для израильского народа, а также рассказал обо всём, что Господь сделал с фараоном и с египетским народом. Моисей рассказал о трудностях, которые были у них в пути, и ещё рассказал Иофору о том, как Господь спасал народ Израиля каждый раз, когда он попадал в беду.

9 Иофор обрадовался, услышав обо всём хорошем, что Господь сделал для Израиля, и радовался, что Господь освободил израильский народ от египтян.

10 Иофор сказал: «Хвала Господу! Он освободил вас из-под власти Египта, спас от фараона.

11 И теперь я знаю, что Господь превосходит всех богов. Они считали, что всё подвластно им, но смотрите, что сотворил Бог!»

12 Иофор принёс жертвы и приношения в честь Бога, а потом пришёл Аарон со всеми израильскими старейшинами, и они стали вместе с тестем Моисея есть перед Богом.

13 На следующий день у Моисея было чрезвычайно важное занятие — судить народ, и народу пришлось стоять перед Моисеем весь день.

14 Увидев, что Моисей судит народ, Иофор спросил: «Что это ты делаешь? Почему ты один судишь, и почему к тебе весь день идут люди?»

15 Моисей ответил тестю: «Люди приходят ко мне просить, чтобы Бог разрешил их споры.

16 Когда между ними случаются споры, они приходят ко мне, и я решаю, кто прав, и так учу людей законам Божьим и Его уставам».

17 Но тесть Моисея сказал ему: «Так делать не следует,

18 это слишком тяжёлое дело для тебя одного. В одиночку ты с ним не справишься, оно и тебя изнуряет и народ!

19 Послушай меня, позволь дать тебе совет: я молю Бога, чтобы Он был с тобой, ты же должен продолжать выслушивать людей о том, какие у них трудности, и говорить обо всём этом с Богом,

20 но ты должен научить этих людей законам Божьим и Его уставам. Предупреди их, чтобы они не нарушали законы, объясни, как нужно правильно жить, скажи им, что они должны делать.

21 И выбери некоторых из этих людей судьями и начальниками. Выбери хороших людей, неподкупных и почитающих Бога, и дай им власть над народом, пусть они будут главными над тысячей, над сотней, над пятьюдесятью и даже над десятью,

22 и пусть они судят людей. Если дело очень важное, то пусть придут к тебе, и ты рассудишь, как поступить, остальные же дела они могут решать сами. Тогда эти люди разделят с тобой твой труд, и тебе будет легче вести за собой народ.

23 Если ты так поступишь и если Господу будет угодно, ты справишься со своими обязанностями не испытав усталости, а люди же будут уходить домой, решив все свои разногласия».

24 Моисей последовал совету Иофора:

25 выбрав хороших людей из числа израильского народа, он поставил их главными над тысячей человек, над сотней, над пятьюдесятью и над десятью.

26 Эти люди были судьями народа, и народ мог всегда прийти к ним со своими разногласиями, Моисей же решал только самые важные дела.

27 Спустя некоторое время Моисей простился со своим тестем Иофором, и тот возвратился к себе домой.

Exodus

Chapter 18

1 AND Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father-in-law, heard of all that God had done for Moses and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought the children of Israel out of Egypt;

2 Then Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took his daughter Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he had sent her back,

3 And her two sons; of whom the name of the one was Gershon; for he said, I have been an alien in a foreign land;

4 And the name of the other was Eliezer; For the God of my fathers, said he, was my help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh;

5 And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, came with his sons and his wife to Moses in the wilderness, where he encamped at the mountain of God;

6 And Moses was told, Behold, your father-in-law Jethro has come to you with your wife and your two sons accompanying him,

7 And Moses went out to meet his father-in-law, and did obeisance and kissed him, and they asked each other of their welfare; and they went into the tent.

8 And Moses told his father-in-law all that the LORD had done to Pharaoh and the Egyptians for Israel's sake, and all the travail that they had suffered on the journey, and how the LORD had delivered them.

9 And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which the LORD had done to Israel, because he had delivered them out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of Pharaoh.

10 And Jethro said, Blessed be the LORD, who has delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of Pharaoh, for he has delivered his people from under the rule of the Egyptians.

11 Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods; for despite the counsel which the Egyptians had devised against them, he triumphed over them.

12 And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, offered burnt offerings and sacrifices to the LORD; and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father-in-law before God.

13 And it came to pass the next day that Moses sat to judge the people; and the people stood by Moses from morning to evening.

14 And when Moses' father-in-law saw all that he did for the people, he said to him, What is this thing that you are doing for the people? Why do you sit in judgment all alone, and all the people stand by you from morning to evening?

15 And Moses said to his father-in-law, Because the people come to me to inquire of God;

16 And when they have a controversy, they come to me; and I judge between one and another, and I make them know the statutes of God and his laws.

17 And Moses' father-in-law said to him, The thing that you are doing is not good.

18 You will surely wear yourself out, both you, and all this people that is with you; for this thing is too heavy for you; you are not able to do it alone.

19 Listen now to my voice, I will give you counsel, and God shall be with you; you must become a teacher from God to the people, to bring their disputes before God;

20 And you shall warn them to keep the ordinances and laws that you may show them how to conduct themselves and the works that they must do.

21 Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men who fear God, truthful men who hate bribes and deceit; and appoint such over them to be officers of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens.

22 Let them judge the people at all times; and when they have an important matter, let them come to you; but every small matter they shall judge for themselves; so it shall be easier for you, and they shall bear the burden with you.

23 If you shall do this thing, and God commands you so, then you shall be able to endure, and all this people shall also go each one to his own house in peace.

24 So Moses listened to the voice of his father-in-law, and did all that he had told him.

25 And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and appointed them officers over the people, officers of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens.

26 And they judged the people at all times; the hard cases they brought to Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.

27 Then Moses let his father-in-law depart, and he went to his own land.

7 Моисей вышел навстречу своему тестю, поклонился ему и поцеловал его. Мужчины спросили друг друга о здоровье, а потом вошли в шатёр Моисея, чтобы продолжить разговор.	7 And Moses went out to meet his father-in-law, and did obeisance and kissed him, and they asked each other of their welfare; and they went into the tent.
8 Моисей рассказал Иофору обо всём, что Господь сделал для израильского народа, а также рассказал обо всём, что Господь сделал с фараоном и с египетским народом. Моисей рассказал о трудностях, которые были у них в пути, и ещё рассказал Иофору о том, как Господь спасал народ Израиля каждый раз, когда он попадал в беду.	8 And Moses told his father-in-law all that the LORD had done to Pharaoh and the Egyptians for Israel's sake, and all the travail that they had suffered on the journey, and how the LORD had delivered them.
9 Иофор обрадовался, услышав обо всём хорошем, что Господь сделал для Израиля, и радовался, что Господь освободил израильский народ от египтян.	9 And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which the LORD had done to Israel, because he had delivered them out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of Pharaoh.
10 Иофор сказал: «Хвала Господу! Он освободил вас из-под власти Египта, спас от фараона.	10 And Jethro said, Blessed be the LORD, who has delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of Pharaoh, for he has delivered his people from under the rule of the Egyptians.
11 И теперь я знаю, что Господь превосходит всех богов. Они считали, что всё подвластно им, но смотрите, что сотворил Бог!»	11 Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods; for despite the counsel which the Egyptians had devised against them, he triumphed over them.
12 Иофор принёс жертвы и приношения в честь Бога, а потом пришёл Аарон со всеми израильскими старейшинами, и они стали вместе с тестем Моисея есть перед Богом.	12 And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, offered burnt offerings and sacrifices to the LORD; and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father-in-law before God.
13 На следующий день у Моисея было чрезвычайно важное занятие — судить народ, и народу пришлось стоять перед Моисеем весь день.	13 And it came to pass the next day that Moses sat to judge the people; and the people stood by Moses from morning to evening.
14 Увидев, что Моисей судит народ, Иофор спросил: «Что это ты делаешь? Почему ты один судишь, и почему к тебе весь день идут люди?»	14 And when Moses' father-in-law saw all that he did for the people, he said to him, What is this thing that you are doing for the people? Why do you sit in judgment all alone, and all the people stand by you from morning to evening?
15 Моисей ответил тестю: «Люди приходят ко мне просить, чтобы Бог разрешил их споры.	15 And Moses said to his father-in-law, Because the people come to me to inquire of God;
16 Когда между ними случаются споры, они приходят ко мне, и я решаю, кто прав, и так учу людей законам Божьим и Его уставам».	16 And when they have a controversy, they come to me; and I judge between one and another, and I make them know the statutes of God and his laws.
17 Но тесть Моисея сказал ему: «Так делать не следует,	17 And Moses' father-in-law said to him, The thing that you are doing is not good.
18 это слишком тяжёлое дело для тебя одного. В одиночку ты с ним не справишься, оно и тебя изнуряет и народ!	18 You will surely wear yourself out, both you, and all this people that is with you; for this thing is too heavy for you; you are not able to do it alone.
19 Послушай меня, позволь дать тебе совет: я молю Бога, чтобы Он был с тобой, ты же должен продолжать выслушивать людей о том, какие у них трудности, и говорить обо всём этом с Богом,	19 Listen now to my voice, I will give you counsel, and God shall be with you; you must become a teacher from God to the people, to bring their disputes before God;
20 но ты должен научить этих людей законам Божьим и Его уставам. Предупреди их, чтобы они не нарушали законы, объясни, как нужно правильно жить, скажи им, что они должны делать.	20 And you shall warn them to keep the ordinances and laws that you may show them how to conduct themselves and the works that they must do.
21 И выбери некоторых из этих людей судьями и начальниками. Выбери хороших людей, неподкупных и почитающих Бога, и дай им власть над народом, пусть они будут главными над тысячей, над сотней, над пятьюдесятью и даже над десятью,	21 Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men who fear God, truthful men who hate bribes and deceit; and appoint such over them to be officers of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens.
22 и пусть они судят людей. Если дело очень важное, то пусть придут к тебе, и ты рассудишь, как поступить, остальные же дела они могут решать сами. Тогда эти люди разделят с тобой твой труд, и тебе будет легче вести за собой народ.	22 Let them judge the people at all times; and when they have an important matter, let them come to you; but every small matter they shall judge for themselves; so it shall be easier for you, and they shall bear the burden with you.
23 Если ты так поступишь и если Господу будет угодно, ты справишься со своими обязанностями не испытав усталости, а люди же будут уходить домой, решив все свои разногласия».	23 If you shall do this thing, and God commands you so, then you shall be able to endure, and all this people shall also go each one to his own house in peace.
24 Моисей последовал совету Иофора:	24 So Moses listened to the voice of his father-in-law, and did all that he had told him.
