Chapter 29

1 THESE are the words of the covenant which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

2 And Moses called to all Israel, and said to them, You have seen all that the LORD did to Pharaoh before your eyes in the land of Egypt and to all his servants and to all his army and to all his land;

3 The great trials which your eyes have seen, the signs, and those great marvels which you saw;

4 Yet to this day the LORD has not given you a heart to understand and eyes to see and ears to hear.

5 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness; your clothes are not worn out upon you and your shoes are not worn out upon your feet.

6 You have not eaten bread, neither have you drunk wine or strong drink, that you might know that I am the LORD your God.

7 And when you came to this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon and Og the king of Mathnin came out against us to battle, and we slew them;

8 And we took their land and gave it for an inheritance to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the half tribe of Manasseh.

9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.

10 You stand this day before the LORD your God, all the heads of your tribes, your elders and your scribes, all the men of Israel,

11 Your little ones, your wives, and the stranger who is in your camp, from the gatherer of your wood to the drawer of your water;

12 That you may not transgress the covenant of the LORD your God, and the oath of the LORD your God, which he made with you this day;

13 Because he will establish you this day a people to himself, and he will be to you the God, as he has promised you, and as he has sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

14 Neither is it with you only that I do make this covenant and this oath;

15 But with all who stand here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him who is not here with us this day

16 (For you know how we have sojourned in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which you passed by;

17 And you have seen their abominations and their idols of wood and stone, overlaid with silver and gold).

18 Perhaps there is among you a man or woman or family or tribe whose heart turns away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; or perhaps there is among you a root that springs up and bears poison and wormwood;

19 And when he hears the words of this oath, he shall reason in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart, to add drunkenness to thirst;

20 The LORD would not forgive him, but then the anger of the LORD and his zealousness would be grievous against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under the heaven.

21 And the LORD shall single him out to misfortune from all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law.

22 So that the generation to come, your children that shall rise up after you and the strangers that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land and the sicknesses which the LORD has brought upon it;

23 Laying it waste with brimstone and with scorched salt, that the whole land is not sown, nor any grass grows in it, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger and in his wrath;

24 And all the nations shall say, Why has the LORD done thus to this land? And why has his anger kindled so much?

25 Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:

26 And they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they had not known, nor had they divided spoils among them;

27 Therefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book;

28 And the LORD uprooted them from their land in anger and in wrath and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.

29 The secret things belong to the LORD our God; but those things that are revealed belong to us and to our children for ever, that we may keep and do all the words of this law.

3 те великие1419 казни,4531 которые видели7200 глаза5869 твои, и те великие1419 знамения226 и чудеса;4159

4 но до сего дня3117 не дал5414 вам Господь3068 сердца,3820 чтобы разуметь,3045 очей,5869 чтобы видеть,7200 и ушей,241 чтобы слышать.8085

5 Сорок705 лет8141 водил3212 вас по пустыне,4057 и одежды8008 ваши на вас не обветшали,1086 и обувь5275 твоя не обветшала1086 на ноге7272 твоей;

6 хлеба3899 вы не ели398 и вина3196 и сикера7941 не пили,8354 дабы вы знали,3045 что Я Господь3068 Бог430 ваш.

7 И когда пришли935 вы на место4725 сие, выступил3318 против7125 нас Сигон,5511 царь4428 Есевонский,2809 и Ог,5747 царь4428 Васанский,1316 чтобы сразиться4421 с нами, и мы поразили5221 их;

8 и взяли3947 землю776 их и отдали5414 ее в удел5159 колену Рувимову7206 и Гадову1425 и половине2677 колена7626 Манассиина.4520

19 такого человека, который, услышав8085 слова1697 проклятия423 сего, похвалялся1288 бы в сердце3824 своем, говоря:559 «я буду счастлив,7965 несмотря3588 на то, что буду3212 ходить3212 по произволу8307 сердца3820 моего»; и пропадет5595 таким образом сытый7302 с голодным;6771

20 не простит145545 Господь3068 такому, но тотчас возгорится6225 гнев639 Господа3068 и ярость7068 Его на такого человека,376 и падет7257 на него все проклятие423 завета сего, написанное3789 в сей книге,5612 и изгладит4229 Господь3068 имя8034 его из поднебесной;8064

21 и отделит914 его Господь3068 на погибель7451 от всех колен7626 Израилевых,3478 сообразно со всеми проклятиями423 завета,1285 написанными3789 в сей книге5612 закона.8451

22 И скажет559 последующий314 род,1755 дети1121 ваши, которые будут6965 после310 вас, и чужеземец,5237 который придет935 из земли776 дальней,7350 увидев7200 поражение4347 земли776 сей и болезни,8463 которыми изнурит2470 ее Господь:3068

23 сера1614 и соль,4417 пожарище8316 — вся земля;776 не засевается2232 и не произращает6779 она, и не выходит5927 на ней никакой травы,6212 как по истреблении4114 Содома,5467 Гоморры,6017 Адмы126 и Севоима,6636 которые ниспроверг2015 Господь3068 во гневе639 Своем и в ярости2534 Своей.

24 И скажут559 все народы:1471 за что Господь3068 так поступил6213 с сею землею?776 какая великая1419 ярость2750 гнева639 Его!

25 И скажут:559 за то, что они оставили5800 завет1285 Господа3068 Бога430 отцов1 своих, который Он поставил3772 с ними, когда вывел3318 их из земли776 Египетской,4714

26 и пошли3212 и стали5647 служить5647 иным312 богам430 и поклоняться7812 им, богам,430 которых они не знали3045 и которых Он не назначал2505 им:

27 за то возгорелся2734 гнев639 Господа3068 на землю776 сию, и навел935 Он на нее все проклятия7045 завета, написанные3789 в сей книге;5612

28 и извергнул5428 их Господь3068 из земли127 их в гневе,639 ярости2534 и великом1419 негодовании,7110 и поверг7993 их на другую312 землю,776 как ныне3117 видим.

29 Сокрытое5641 принадлежит Господу3068 Богу430 нашему, а открытое1540 — нам и сынам1121 нашим до5704 века,5769 чтобы мы исполняли6213 все слова1697 закона8451 сего.

1 THESE are the words of the covenant which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

2 And Moses called to all Israel, and said to them, You have seen all that the LORD did to Pharaoh before your eyes in the land of Egypt and to all his servants and to all his army and to all his land;

2 И созвал7121 Моисей4872 всех сынов Израилевых3478 и сказал559 им: вы видели7200 все, что сделал6213 Господь3068 пред глазами5869 вашими в земле776 Египетской4714 с фараоном6547 и всеми рабами5650 его и всею землею776 его;

3 The great trials which your eyes have seen, the signs, and those great marvels which you saw;

3 те великие1419 казни,4531 которые видели7200 глаза5869 твои, и те великие1419 знамения226 и чудеса;4159

4 Yet to this day the LORD has not given you a heart to understand and eyes to see and ears to hear.

4 но до сего дня3117 не дал5414 вам Господь3068 сердца,3820 чтобы разуметь,3045 очей,5869 чтобы видеть,7200 и ушей,241 чтобы слышать.8085

5 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness; your clothes are not worn out upon you and your shoes are not worn out upon your feet.

6 You have not eaten bread, neither have you drunk wine or strong drink, that you might know that I am the LORD your God.

24 And all the nations shall say, Why has the LORD done thus to this land? And why has his anger kindled so much?

24 И скажут559 все народы:1471 за что Господь3068 так поступил6213 с сею землею?776 какая великая1419 ярость2750 гнева639 Его!

25 Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:

25 И скажут:559 за то, что они оставили5800 завет1285 Господа3068 Бога430 отцов1 своих, который Он поставил3772 с ними, когда вывел3318 их из земли776 Египетской,4714

26 And they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they had not known, nor had they divided spoils among them;

27 Therefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book;

27 за то возгорелся2734 гнев639 Господа3068 на землю776 сию, и навел935 Он на нее все проклятия7045 завета, написанные3789 в сей книге;5612

28 And the LORD uprooted them from their land in anger and in wrath and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.

28 и извергнул5428 их Господь3068 из земли127 их в гневе,639 ярости2534 и великом1419 негодовании,7110 и поверг7993 их на другую312 землю,776 как ныне3117 видим.

29 The secret things belong to the LORD our God; but those things that are revealed belong to us and to our children for ever, that we may keep and do all the words of this law.
