Chapter 29

1 IN the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

2 Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt;

3 Speak, and say, Thus says the LORD God: Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lies in the midst of the rivers, who says, The river is my own; I have made it for myself.

4 I will put hooks into your jaws, and I will cause the fish of your river to stick to your scales, and I will draw you up out of the midst of your river, and all the fish of your river shall stick to your scales.

5 And I will throw you into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your river; you shall fall upon the open fields; you shall not be gathered nor buried; I have given you for food to the wild beasts and to the fowls of the air.

6 And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the LORD, because you have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel.

7 When they held you with their hands, you pierced them; and when they leaned on you, you broke, and made all their loins to tremble.

8 Therefore thus says the LORD God: Behold. I will bring a sword upon you and destroy from you man and beast.

9 And the land of Egypt shall be desolate and waste; and they shall know that I am the LORD, because you have said, The river is mine; I have made it.

10 Therefore I am against you and against your river, and I will make the land of Egypt utterly waste and desolate from the tower of Sona even to the border of Ethiopia.

11 No foot of man shall pass through it, neither foot of beast, nor shall it be inhabited forty years.

12 And I will make the land of Egypt desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be desolate forty years; and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and I will disperse them through the countries.

13 Yet thus says the LORD God: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples among whom they were scattered:

14 And I will bring back the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to dwell in the land of Pathros, into the land from which they were sold; and they shall be there a humble kingdom.

15 It shall be the humblest of the kingdoms; neither shall it exalt itself any more above the nations; for I will diminish them, that they shall no more rule over the nations.

16 And the Egyptians shall be no more the hope of the house of Israel, bringing their iniquity to remembrance, because they went after them; and Israel shall know that I am the LORD God.

17 And it came to pass in the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

18 Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon subjected all his army to many hardships against Tyre till every head was made bald and every shoulder weary; yet neither he nor his army received wages from Tyre for the service that he had performed against her;

19 Therefore, thus says the LORD God: Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and he shall take her wealth, carry away captives, and plunder her; and it shall be the wages for his army.

20 I have given him the land of Egypt for the labor with which he served against Tyre, says the LORD God.

21 On that day I will cause the horn of the house of Israel to bud forth, and I will open your mouth among them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

1 В десятом году, в двенадцатый день десятого месяца было ко мне слово Господа:

2 — Сын человеческий, обрати лицо к фараону, царю Египта, и пророчествуй против него и против всего Египта.

3 Говори с ним и скажи: Так говорит Владыка Господь: Я твой враг, фараон, царь Египта, чудовищный крокодил, что в реках своих разлегся. «Нил мой, — говоришь ты, — я для себя его создал».

4 Я продену крюк в твои челюсти, и рыбу из рек твоих приклею к твоей чешуе. Я тебя вытащу из твоих рек с рыбой, прилипшей к твоей чешуе.

5 Я брошу тебя в пустыню — тебя и рыбу из твоих рек. Ты упадешь в открытом поле — не подберут тебя, не поднимут. Я отдам тебя в пищу земному зверью и небесным птицам.

6 Тогда все жители Египта узнают, что Я — Господь. Ты был посохом из тростника для дома Израиля.

7 Когда они брались за тебя, ты расщеплялся и ранил им плечи; когда они опирались на тебя, ты ломался, и их ноги теряли устойчивость.

8 Поэтому так говорит Владыка Господь: — Я наведу на тебя меч и истреблю твоих жителей и их скот.

9 Египет станет безлюдной пустыней. Тогда они узнают, что Я — Господь. За то, что ты сказал: «Нил — мой; это я его создал»,

10 Я — твой враг и враг твоих рек. Я сделаю землю Египта мертвой пустыней от Мигдола до Сиены, до самой границы с Кушем.

11 Не будет ступать по ней ни нога человека, ни нога животного; она будет необитаемой сорок лет.

12 Я сделаю землю Египта пустыней среди опустошенных земель, и ее города будут безлюдными среди опустевших городов сорок лет. Я рассею египтян между другими народами и развею их по чужим землям.

13 Ведь так говорит Владыка Господь: — По прошествии сорока лет Я соберу египтян из народов, среди которых они были рассеяны.

14 Я восстановлю и возвращу их в Верхний Египет, землю их предков. Они будут там слабым царством,

15 самым слабым из царств, и никогда впредь не возвысятся над другими народами. Я так ослаблю их, что они не смогут впредь править народами.

16 Египет больше не будет опорой для дома Израиля; он будет напоминанием людям о грехе, который они совершили, обращаясь к нему за помощью. Тогда они узнают, что Я — Владыка Господь.

17 В двадцать седьмом году, в первый день первого месяца было ко мне слово Господне:

18 — Сын человеческий, Навуходоносор, царь Вавилона, заставил свое войско немало потрудиться под Тиром: все головы оплешивели, все плечи натерты от непосильного труда. Но ни он, ни его войско ничего не получили от Тира в уплату за труды.

19 Поэтому так говорит Владыка Господь: Я отдам Навуходоносору, царю Вавилона, землю Египта, и он захватит ее богатства. Он оберет и разграбит ее, чтобы заплатить войску.

20 Я отдаю ему Египет в награду за труды, потому что он и его войско трудились для Меня, — возвещает Владыка Господь.

21 В тот день Я выращу рог дому Израиля и открою среди них твои уста. Тогда они узнают, что Я — Господь.

2 Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt;

2 — Сын человеческий, обрати лицо к фараону, царю Египта, и пророчествуй против него и против всего Египта.

3 Speak, and say, Thus says the LORD God: Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lies in the midst of the rivers, who says, The river is my own; I have made it for myself.

3 Говори с ним и скажи: Так говорит Владыка Господь: Я твой враг, фараон, царь Египта, чудовищный крокодил, что в реках своих разлегся. «Нил мой, — говоришь ты, — я для себя его создал».

4 I will put hooks into your jaws, and I will cause the fish of your river to stick to your scales, and I will draw you up out of the midst of your river, and all the fish of your river shall stick to your scales.

4 Я продену крюк в твои челюсти, и рыбу из рек твоих приклею к твоей чешуе. Я тебя вытащу из твоих рек с рыбой, прилипшей к твоей чешуе.

5 And I will throw you into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your river; you shall fall upon the open fields; you shall not be gathered nor buried; I have given you for food to the wild beasts and to the fowls of the air.

5 Я брошу тебя в пустыню — тебя и рыбу из твоих рек. Ты упадешь в открытом поле — не подберут тебя, не поднимут. Я отдам тебя в пищу земному зверью и небесным птицам.

6 And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the LORD, because you have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel.

6 Тогда все жители Египта узнают, что Я — Господь. Ты был посохом из тростника для дома Израиля.

7 When they held you with their hands, you pierced them; and when they leaned on you, you broke, and made all their loins to tremble.

7 Когда они брались за тебя, ты расщеплялся и ранил им плечи; когда они опирались на тебя, ты ломался, и их ноги теряли устойчивость.

8 Therefore thus says the LORD God: Behold. I will bring a sword upon you and destroy from you man and beast.

8 Поэтому так говорит Владыка Господь: — Я наведу на тебя меч и истреблю твоих жителей и их скот.

9 And the land of Egypt shall be desolate and waste; and they shall know that I am the LORD, because you have said, The river is mine; I have made it.

9 Египет станет безлюдной пустыней. Тогда они узнают, что Я — Господь. За то, что ты сказал: «Нил — мой; это я его создал»,

10 Therefore I am against you and against your river, and I will make the land of Egypt utterly waste and desolate from the tower of Sona even to the border of Ethiopia.

10 Я — твой враг и враг твоих рек. Я сделаю землю Египта мертвой пустыней от Мигдола до Сиены, до самой границы с Кушем.

13 Ведь так говорит Владыка Господь: — По прошествии сорока лет Я соберу египтян из народов, среди которых они были рассеяны.

14 And I will bring back the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to dwell in the land of Pathros, into the land from which they were sold; and they shall be there a humble kingdom.

14 Я восстановлю и возвращу их в Верхний Египет, землю их предков. Они будут там слабым царством,

15 It shall be the humblest of the kingdoms; neither shall it exalt itself any more above the nations; for I will diminish them, that they shall no more rule over the nations.

15 самым слабым из царств, и никогда впредь не возвысятся над другими народами. Я так ослаблю их, что они не смогут впредь править народами.

16 Египет больше не будет опорой для дома Израиля; он будет напоминанием людям о грехе, который они совершили, обращаясь к нему за помощью. Тогда они узнают, что Я — Владыка Господь.

19 Поэтому так говорит Владыка Господь: Я отдам Навуходоносору, царю Вавилона, землю Египта, и он захватит ее богатства. Он оберет и разграбит ее, чтобы заплатить войску.

20 I have given him the land of Egypt for the labor with which he served against Tyre, says the LORD God.

20 Я отдаю ему Египет в награду за труды, потому что он и его войско трудились для Меня, — возвещает Владыка Господь.
