Chapter 14

1 YOU are the children of the LORD your God; you shall not make tattooed patterns in the skin, nor any baldness between your eyes for the dead.

2 For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a beloved people to himself, above all the peoples that are on the face of the earth.

3 You shall not eat any abominable thing.

4 These are the beasts which you shall eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,

5 The hart, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the buffalo, the rock-goat, the mountain goat.

6 Every animal that parts the hoof and has the hoof divided into two parts and chews the cud among the animals, that you shall eat.

7 Nevertheless you shall not eat of these that chew the cud, or of these that have the hoof divided, such as the camel, the hare, and the coney; for they chew the cud, but their hoofs are not divided; therefore they are unclean for you.

8 And the swine, because it divides the hoof, but does not chew the cud, is unclean for you; you shall not eat of their meat, nor touch their dead carcasses.

9 These you shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales you shall eat:

10 And whatever does not have fins and scales, you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.

11 Of all clean birds you shall eat.

12 But these are the ones of which you shall not eat: the eagle, the vulture, and the raven after its kind,

13 The ostrich, and the hawk after its kind,

14 The owl, the pelican, the crow,

15 The little owl, the night hawk, and the bee eater,

16 The stork, the hoopoe after its kind,

17 The desert cock, and the peacock,

18 And all the brood of these birds is unclean for you, you shall not eat them.

19 But of all dean birds you shall eat.

20 You shall not eat of anything that is unclean, but you shall give it to the stranger who is in your towns, that he may eat it.

21 Or you may sell it to an alien; for you are a holy people to the LORD your God. You shall not cook a kid in its mother's milk.

22 You shall truly tithe all the increase of your seed that the field brings forth year by year.

23 And you shall eat before the LORD your God, in the place where he shall choose to set his name, the tithes of your grain, of your wine and of your oil and of the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks; that you may learn to revere the LORD your God always.

24 And if the way is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry it; because the place where the LORD your God chooses to set his name is too far from you, when the LORD your God has blessed you;

25 Then you shall turn them into money, and bind up the money in a cloth and keep it in your possession, and go to the place which the LORD your God chooses;

26 And you shall buy with that money whatever you desire, oxen or sheep or wine or strong drink or whatever you may desire; and you shall eat there before the LORD your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household,

27 And the Levite who is within your towns; you shall not forsake him; for he has no portion nor inheritance with you.

28 At the end of three years you shall bring forth all the tithes of your crops the same year, and you shall lay it up within your towns;

29 And the Levite, who has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the proselyte and the orphan and the widow who are within your towns shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you shall do.

2 Denn du bist ein heilig6918 Volk5971 dem HErrn3068, deinem GOtt430, und der HErr3068 hat977 dich erwählet, daß du sein Eigentum5459 seiest aus allen Völkern5971, die auf6440 Erden127 sind.

3 Du sollst keinen Greuel8441 essen398.

4 Dies ist aber das Tier929, das ihr essen398 sollt: Ochsen7794, Schafe, Ziegen5795,

5 Hirsch354, Rehe6643, Büffel3180, Steinbock689, Tendeln, Urochs und Elen2169

6 und8156 alles Tier929, das seine8147 Klauen6541 spaltet6536 und wiederkäuet, sollt ihr essen398.

7 Das sollt ihr aber nicht5927 essen398, das wiederkäuet und8156 die Klauen6541 nicht spaltet6536. Das Kamel1581, der Hase768 und Kaninchen8227, die da wiederkäuen und doch die Klauen6541 nicht spalten6536, sollen5927 euch unrein2931 sein.

8 Das Schwein2386, ob es wohl die Klauen6541 spaltet6536, so wiederkäuet es doch nicht, soll euch unrein2931 sein. Ihres Fleisches1320 sollt ihr nicht essen398 und ihr Aas5038 sollt ihr nicht anrühren5060.

9 Das ist, das ihr essen398 sollt von allem, das in Wassern4325 ist: alles5579, was Floßfedern und Schuppen7193 hat, sollt ihr essen398.

10 Was aber keine Floßfedern5579 noch Schuppen7193 hat, sollt ihr nicht essen398; denn es ist euch unrein2931.

11 Alle reinen2889 Vögel6833 esset398.

12 Das sind sie aber, die ihr nicht essen398 sollt: der Adler5404, der Habicht6538, der Fischaar5822;

13 der Taucher7201, der Weihe, der Geier1772 mit seiner Art4327

22 Du sollst6237 alle8141 Jahr8141 den Zehnten absondern alles Einkommens8393 deiner Saat2233, das aus3318 deinem Acker7704 kommt;

23 und sollst es essen398 vor dem HErrn3068, deinem GOtt430, an dem Ort4725, den8034 er erwählet, daß sein3372 Name daselbst wohne7931, nämlich vom Zehnten4643 deines Getreides1715, deines Mosts8492, deines Öls3323 und der Erstgeburt1062 deiner Rinder1241 und deiner Schafe6629, auf6440 daß du lernest fürchten den HErrn3068, deinen GOtt430, dein Leben lang3117.

24 Wenn aber des Weges1870 dir zu viel7235 ist5375, daß3588 du solches nicht7368 hintragen kannst3201, darum daß der Ort4725 dir zu ferne ist, den der HErr3068, dein GOtt430, erwählet hat977, daß er seinen Namen8034 daselbst wohnen lasse (denn der HErr3068, dein, GOtt430, hat7760 dich gesegnet1288),

25 so gib‘s5414 um Geld3701 und fasse6696 das Geld3701 in deine Hand3027 und gehe1980 an den Ort4725, den der HErr3068, dein GOtt430, erwählet hat977,

26 und gib5414 das Geld3701 um alles, was deine See LE5315 gelüstet183, es sei um Rinder1241, Schafe6629, Wein3196, starken Trank7941 oder um alles, das deine See LE5315 wünschet. Und iß398 daselbst vor6440 dem HErrn3068, deinem GOtt430, und sei fröhlich8055, du7592 und dein Haus1004

27 und der Levit3881, der in deinem Tor8179 ist; du sollst ihn nicht verlassen5800, denn er hat kein Teil2506 noch Erbe5159 mit dir.

28 Über drei7969 Jahre8141 sollst du aussondern3318 alle7097 Zehnten4643 deines Einkommens8393 desselben Jahrs und sollst es lassen3240 in8141 deinem Tor8179.

29 So soll kommen der Levit3881, der kein Teil2506 noch Erbe5159 mit dir hat, und der Fremdling1616 und der Waise3490 und die Witwe490, die in deinem Tor8179 sind935, und essen398 und sich sättigen7646, auf daß dich1288 der HErr3068, dein GOtt430, segne in allen Werken4639 deiner Hand3027, die du tust6213.
