2 The children1121 of Gad1410 and the children1121 of Reuben7205 came935 and spoke559 to Moses,4872 and to Eleazar499 the priest,3548 and to the princes5387 of the congregation,5712 saying,559

3 Ataroth,5852 and Dibon,1769 and Jazer,3270 and Nimrah,5247 and Heshbon,2809 and Elealeh,500 and Shebam,7643 and Nebo,5015 and Beon,1194

4 Even the country776 which834 the LORD3068 smote5221 before6440 the congregation5712 of Israel,3478 is a land776 for cattle,4735 and your servants5650 have cattle:4735

5 Why, said559 they, if518 we have found4672 grace2580 in your sight,5869 let this2063 land776 be given5414 to your servants5650 for a possession,272 and bring5674 us not over5674 Jordan.3383

6 And Moses4872 said559 to the children1121 of Gad1410 and to the children1121 of Reuben,7205 Shall your brothers251 go935 to war,4421 and shall you sit3427 here?6311

7 And why4100 discourage5106 you the heart3820 of the children1121 of Israel3478 from going5674 over5674 into413 the land776 which834 the LORD3068 has given5414 them?

8 Thus3541 did6213 your fathers,1 when I sent7971 them from Kadeshbarnea6947 to see7200 the land.776

9 For when they went5927 up to the valley5158 of Eshcol,812 and saw7200 the land,776 they discouraged5106 the heart3820 of the children1121 of Israel,3478 that they should not go935 into413 the land776 which834 the LORD3068 had given5414 them.

10 And the LORD's3068 anger639 was kindled2734 the same1931 time,3117 and he swore,7650 saying,559

11 Surely518 none of the men582 that came5927 up out of Egypt,4714 from twenty6242 years8141 old1121 and upward,4605 shall see7200 the land127 which834 I swore7650 to Abraham,85 to Isaac,3327 and to Jacob;3290 because3588 they have not wholly4390 followed310 me:

12 Save3588 518 Caleb3612 the son1121 of Jephunneh3312 the Kenezite,7074 and Joshua3091 the son1121 of Nun:5126 for they have wholly4390 followed310 the LORD.3068

13 And the LORD's3068 anger639 was kindled against Israel,3478 and he made them wander5128 in the wilderness4057 forty705 years,8141 until5704 all3605 the generation,1755 that had done6213 evil7451 in the sight5869 of the LORD,3068 was consumed.8552

14 And, behold,2009 you are risen6965 up in your fathers'1 stead,8478 an increase8635 of sinful2400 men,582 to augment5595 yet5750 the fierce2740 anger639 of the LORD3068 toward413 Israel.3478

15 For if you turn7725 away from after310 him, he will yet5750 again3254 leave5117 them in the wilderness;4057 and you shall destroy7843 all3605 this2088 people.5971

16 And they came5066 near5066 to him, and said,559 We will build1129 sheepfolds1488 6629 here6311 for our cattle,4735 and cities5892 for our little2945 ones:

17 But we ourselves587 will go ready2363 armed2502 before6440 the children1121 of Israel,3478 until5704 we have brought935 them to their place:4725 and our little2945 ones shall dwell3427 in the fenced4013 cities5892 because6440 of the inhabitants3427 of the land.776

18 We will not return7725 to our houses,1004 until5704 the children1121 of Israel3478 have inherited5157 every man376 his inheritance.5159

19 For we will not inherit5157 with them on5921 yonder5676 side5676 Jordan,3383 or forward;1973 because3588 our inheritance5159 is fallen935 to us on5921 this side5676 Jordan3383 eastward.4217

20 And Moses4872 said559 to them, If518 you will do6213 this2088 thing,1697 if518 you will go armed2502 before6440 the LORD3068 to war,4421

21 And will go5674 all3605 of you armed2502 over5674 Jordan3383 before6440 the LORD,3068 until5704 he has driven3423 out his enemies341 from before6440 him,

22 And the land776 be subdued3533 before6440 the LORD:3068 then afterward310 you shall return,7725 and be guiltless5355 before the LORD,3068 and before Israel;3478 and this2063 land776 shall be your possession272 before6440 the LORD.3068

23 But if518 you will not do6213 so,3651 behold,2009 you have sinned2398 against the LORD:3068 and be sure3045 your sin2403 will find4672 you out.

24 Build1129 you cities5892 for your little2945 ones, and folds1448 for your sheep;6792 and do6213 that which has proceeded3318 out of your mouth.6310

25 And the children1121 of Gad1410 and the children1121 of Reuben7205 spoke559 to Moses,4872 saying,559 Your servants5650 will do6213 as my lord113 commands.6680

26 Our little2945 ones, our wives,802 our flocks,4735 and all3605 our cattle,929 shall be there8033 in the cities5892 of Gilead:1568

27 But your servants5650 will pass5674 over,5674 every3605 man armed2502 for war,6635 before6440 the LORD3068 to battle,4421 as my lord113 said.1696

28 So concerning them Moses4872 commanded6680 Eleazar499 the priest,3548 and Joshua3091 the son1121 of Nun,5126 and the chief7218 fathers1 of the tribes4294 of the children1121 of Israel:3478

29 And Moses4872 said559 to them, If518 the children1121 of Gad1410 and the children1121 of Reuben7205 will pass5674 with you over5674 Jordan,3383 every3605 man armed2502 to battle,4421 before6440 the LORD,3068 and the land776 shall be subdued3533 before6440 you; then you shall give5414 them the land776 of Gilead1568 for a possession:272

30 But if518 they will not pass5674 over5674 with you armed,2502 they shall have270 possessions270 among8432 you in the land776 of Canaan.3667

31 And the children1121 of Gad1410 and the children1121 of Reuben7205 answered,6030 saying,559 As the LORD3068 has said1696 to your servants,5650 so3651 will we do.6213

32 We will pass5674 over5674 armed2502 before6440 the LORD3068 into the land776 of Canaan,3667 that the possession272 of our inheritance5159 on5921 this side5676 Jordan3383 may be ours.

33 And Moses4872 gave5414 to them, even to the children1121 of Gad,1410 and to the children1121 of Reuben,7205 and to half2677 the tribe7626 of Manasseh4519 the son1121 of Joseph,3130 the kingdom4467 of Sihon5511 king4428 of the Amorites,567 and the kingdom4467 of Og5747 king4428 of Bashan,1316 the land,776 with the cities5892 thereof in the coasts,1367 even the cities5892 of the country776 round5439 about.

34 And the children1121 of Gad1410 built1129 Dibon,1769 and Ataroth,5852 and Aroer,6177

35 And Atroth,5855 Shophan,5855 and Jaazer,3270 and Jogbehah,3011

36 And Bethnimrah,1039 and Bethharan,1028 fenced4013 cities:5892 and folds1448 for sheep.6629

37 And the children1121 of Reuben7205 built1129 Heshbon,2809 and Elealeh,500 and Kirjathaim,7156

38 And Nebo,5015 and Baalmeon,1186 (their names8034 being changed,5437) and Shibmah:7643 and gave7121 other names8034 to the cities5892 which834 they built.1129

39 And the children1121 of Machir4353 the son1121 of Manasseh4519 went3212 to Gilead,1568 and took3920 it, and dispossessed3423 the Amorite567 which834 was in it.

40 And Moses4872 gave5414 Gilead1568 to Machir4353 the son1121 of Manasseh;4519 and he dwelled3427 therein.

41 And Jair2971 the son1121 of Manasseh4519 went1980 and took3920 the small towns2333 thereof, and called7121 them Havothjair.2334

42 And Nobah5025 went1980 and took3920 Kenath,7079 and the villages1323 thereof, and called7121 it Nobah,5025 after his own name.8034

3 «Атарот, Дивон, Язер, Нимра, Хешбон, Элале, Севам, Нево, Веон —

4 города той местности, которую ГОСПОДЬ подчинил общине Израилевой, — край хороших пастбищ, а у нас, рабов ваших, есть скот».

5 И продолжили: «Если мы снискали ваше расположение, отдайте эти земли нам, рабам вашим, пусть будут они нашей собственностью. Не ведите нас за Иордан».

6 «Так вы хотите отсидеться здесь в то время, когда братья ваши отправятся на войну?! — спросил Моисей потомков Гада и Рувима. —

7 Зачем вам ослаблять решимость других израильтян перейти в ту землю, которую определил им ГОСПОДЬ?

8 Точно так поступили и отцы ваши, когда отправил я их из Кадеш-Барнеа осмотреть землю ханаанскую.

9 Они прошли до долины Эшкол, осмотрели и, вернувшись, отбили желание у сынов Израилевых идти в ту землю, которую ГОСПОДЬ решил им отдать.

10 В тот день разгневался ГОСПОДЬ и поклялся:

11 „Никто старше двадцати лет из тех, кто вышел из Египта, не увидит земли, которую Я клятвенно обещал Аврааму, Исааку и Иакову! Не захотели следовать за Мной — не по сердцу им это было.

12 Никто, кроме Халева, сына Ефуннэ, кениззея, и Иисуса Навина, — они за Мной последовали, им это было по сердцу“.

13 И в Своем гневе на израильтян заставил ГОСПОДЬ их скитаться в пустыне целых сорок лет, пока не умерло всё поколение тех, кто творил зло на виду у ГОСПОДА.

14 И вот вы, отродье грешников, становитесь на место своих отцов, чтобы вызвать страшный гнев ГОСПОДЕНЬ на Израиль.

15 Если не захотите следовать за Ним, Он вновь обречет этот народ на пребывание в пустыне, и вы станете причиной его гибели».

16 Тогда они подошли ближе к нему и сказали: «Всё, что мы хотим, так это построить здесь загоны для скота и города для семейств наших,

17 но потом возьмем в руки оружие и будем готовы идти как передовые отряды сынов Израилевых, пока не пройдем с ними туда, где они поселятся. В это время семьи наши смогут жить в укрепленных городах, которые защитят их от жителей земли этой.

18 Мы не вернемся в дома свои, пока каждый из сынов Израилевых не получит своего наследства.

19 И мы не потребуем для себя никакого владения по ту сторону Иордана и далее, потому как земли в наследство нам уже отведены здесь, на востоке от Иордана».

20 И тогда сказал Моисей: «Если это исполните, если возьмете оружие в руки, чтобы перед ГОСПОДОМ — перед ковчегом Его — идти на войну,

21 и каждый из ваших воинов перейдет через Иордан, дабы быть там на глазах у ГОСПОДА, пока Он не прогонит врагов Своих,

22 и возвратитесь домой только после того, как та земля будет покорена на глазах у ГОСПОДА, вот тогда вы исполните свое обязательство перед Ним и Израилем, и ГОСПОДЬ признает эти земли вашими.

23 Но если не сделаете так, против ГОСПОДА согрешите. И можете быть уверены — грех ваш найдет вас, чтобы вас покарать.

24 А теперь стройте города свои для детей ваших и загоны для скота, но то, что обещали, исполните!»

25 Потомки Гада и Рувима заверили Моисея: «Рабы твои, мы всё так и сделаем, как ты велишь нам, господин наш:

26 дети наши, жены и все стада, весь скот наш, останутся здесь, в городах Гилада.

27 А мы, рабы твои, перейдем за реку, все способные носить оружие пойдем в сражение пред ГОСПОДОМ, как ты, господин наш, велишь».

28 Моисей же дал повеление о них Элеазару-священнику, Иисусу Навину и всем вождям колен сынов Израиля,

29 сказав: «Если потомки Гада и Рувима, каждый, кто способен носить оружие, на самом деле перейдут Иордан вместе с вами для участия в войне перед ГОСПОДОМ, то, как только земля по ту сторону будет покорена вами, отдайте им Гилад в собственность.

30 Но если они вооруженными не пойдут с вами, то получат надел свой среди вас в землях Ханаана».

31 И согласились с этим сыны Гада и Рувима: «Сделаем всё так, как повелел нам, рабам твоим, ГОСПОДЬ:

32 пред Господом перейдем через реку и войдем с оружием в руках в землю Ханаана, сохранив за собой наследство по эту сторону Иордана».

33 Так отдал Моисей потомкам Гада и Рувима и половине колена Манассии, сына Иосифа, царство Сихона, царя амореев, и царство Ога, царя Башана; все земли этих царств отдал он им вместе с городами и окрестными поселениями.

34 И отстроили тогда потомки Гада города Дивон, Атарот, Ароэр,

35 Атрот-Шофан, Язер, Йогбоха,

36 Бет-Нимру и Бет-Харан — города-крепости и загоны для мелкого рогатого скота.

37 Потомки Рувима отстроили Хешбон, Элале, Кирьятаим,

38 Нево, Баал-Меон и Сивму, при этом дали отстроенным городам свои названия.

39 Сыновья Махира, потомка Манассии, напали на город Гилад и, завладев им, изгнали живших в нем амореев.

40 Моисей отдал этот самый Гилад Махиру, потомку Манассии, где тот и стал жить.

41 Другой же сын Манассии, Яир, завоевал окрестные селения вокруг Гилада и назвал их Селения Яира.

42 А Новах пошел и завоевал Кенат с окрестными селениями и назвал этот край своим именем — Новах.

17 но потом возьмем в руки оружие и будем готовы идти как передовые отряды сынов Израилевых, пока не пройдем с ними туда, где они поселятся. В это время семьи наши смогут жить в укрепленных городах, которые защитят их от жителей земли этой.

18 We will not return7725 to our houses,1004 until5704 the children1121 of Israel3478 have inherited5157 every man376 his inheritance.5159

33 Так отдал Моисей потомкам Гада и Рувима и половине колена Манассии, сына Иосифа, царство Сихона, царя амореев, и царство Ога, царя Башана; все земли этих царств отдал он им вместе с городами и окрестными поселениями.

34 И отстроили тогда потомки Гада города Дивон, Атарот, Ароэр,

35 Атрот-Шофан, Язер, Йогбоха,

36 And Bethnimrah,1039 and Bethharan,1028 fenced4013 cities:5892 and folds1448 for sheep.6629

37 Потомки Рувима отстроили Хешбон, Элале, Кирьятаим,

38 And Nebo,5015 and Baalmeon,1186 (their names8034 being changed,5437) and Shibmah:7643 and gave7121 other names8034 to the cities5892 which834 they built.1129

38 Нево, Баал-Меон и Сивму, при этом дали отстроенным городам свои названия.

39 Сыновья Махира, потомка Манассии, напали на город Гилад и, завладев им, изгнали живших в нем амореев.

40 Моисей отдал этот самый Гилад Махиру, потомку Манассии, где тот и стал жить.

41 Другой же сын Манассии, Яир, завоевал окрестные селения вокруг Гилада и назвал их Селения Яира.

42 And Nobah5025 went1980 and took3920 Kenath,7079 and the villages1323 thereof, and called7121 it Nobah,5025 after his own name.8034

42 А Новах пошел и завоевал Кенат с окрестными селениями и назвал этот край своим именем — Новах.
