1 На коленях стоит Бел, повержен Нево — навьючили этих идолов на животных; и вот тех, кого вы приносили на праздники свои, теперь тащат прочь усталые животные;
2 повержены ваши боги, и сами вы на коленях, идолов своих не смогли вы спасти и сами в изгнанье оказались.
3 «Послушай Меня, род Иакова, остаток рода Израиля — те, кого Я принял при родах, кого от рождения нянчил, —
4 до старости Я вас не оставлю, до седых волос буду нянчить; Я создал — Я и носить буду, поддерживать и охранять.
5 Кому уподобите Меня, кто Мне равен? С кем сравните, чтобы и вправду были мы схожи?
6 Высыплют люди из кошелька золото, выложат на весы серебро, наймут золотых дел мастера, чтобы сделал им бога, и падут перед идолом ниц;
7 возьмут его на плечи и понесут, поставят на особое место — так и стоит он, с места не сойдет, ни на какие мольбы не ответит, ни от какой беды не избавит.
8 Пусть это будет вам уроком! Напомните себе об этом, отступники!
9 Вспомните, что было в прежние времена, и поймете: Я — Бог, и нет иного бога, нет подобного Мне.
10 Я от начала грядущее возвещаю, издревле — то, что еще не сбылось, говорю: „Замысел Мой исполняется, что Мне угодно — свершается“.
11 Призвал Я хищную птицу с востока, издали призвал мужа исполнить замысел Мой. Что сказал, то исполню Я, что задумал Я, сделаю.
12 Послушайте Меня, упрямые сердцем, от правды вы так далеки!
13 Но Я приблизил к вам правду — она грядет, не замедлю Я со спасением. Сиону Я дам избавление, одарю Израиль славой Моей».
