Chapter 6

1 O CHILDREN of Benjamin, flee out of the midst of Jerusalem! Blow the trumpet and set up a standard in Beth-keram; for I am bringing a calamity out of the north, and great destruction.

2 I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.

3 The shepherds with their flocks shall come to her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.

4 Prepare war against her; and say, Arise, let us go up at noon. Woe to us! for the day is spent, and the shadows of the evening are lengthened.

5 Arise, and let us go up against her by night, and let us destroy her palaces.

6 For thus says the LORD of hosts, Hew down her trees and cast a mound against Jerusalem; this is the city to be visited with destruction; all of her calumnies are in the midst of her.

7 As a cistern that gathers its water, so has she gathered her wickedness; violence and plunder are heard in her; before me continually are grief and wounds.

8 Be chastised, O Jerusalem, lest my soul abhor you; lest I make you desolate like an uninhabited land.

9 Thus says the LORD of hosts, They shall thoroughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine; turn back your hand as a grape gatherer when he gleans the grapes.

10 To whom shall I speak and give warning, that they may hear? Behold, their ears are dull and they cannot hear; behold, the word of the LORD is to them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

11 Therefore you are full of the fury of the LORD, and you are weary; I will measure and then I will pour it out upon the children in the streets and upon the assembly of young men together; for even the husbands and wives shall be taken, the old men with the infants.

12 Their houses shall be given to others, with their fields and wives together; for I will stretch out my hand against the inhabitants of the land, says the LORD.

13 For from the least of them even to the greatest of them every one commits treachery; and from the false prophets even to the priests every one of them deals falsely.

14 And yet they try to heal the wound of the daughter of my people mockingly, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.

15 Now they are ashamed because they had committed abomination, but the impudent are not ashamed at all, neither do they know what chastisement is; therefore they shall fall among them that fall; at the time that I visit them with punishment they shall be overthrown, says the LORD.

16 Thus says the LORD, Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths and see where is the good way, and walk in it and find rest for your souls. But you said, We will not walk therein.

17 Also I set watchmen over you, so that you might hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But you said, We will not hearken.

18 Therefore hear, O nations, and know, O congregation, the deceit that is among them.

19 Hear, O earth! Behold, I will bring evil upon this people according to the fruits of their imaginations, because they have not hearkened to my words, and my law they have rejected.

20 To what purpose do you bring to me incense from Sheba and the cane of sweet incense from a far country? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable to me, nor do your sacrifices please me.

21 Therefore thus says the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; and the neighbor and his friend shall perish.

22 Thus said the LORD, Behold, a people is coming from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the ends of the earth.

23 They shall be armed with bows and spears; they are cruel and have no mercy; their voices roar like the sea; and they ride upon horses set in array as men for war against you, O daughter of Zion.

24 We have heard the report of them; our hands wax feeble; anguish has taken hold of us, and pain as of a woman in travail.

25 Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemies is on every side.

26 O daughter of my people, gird yourself with sackcloth and wallow in ashes; make for yourself mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation; for the plunderers shall suddenly come upon you.

27 I have set you as a seer among my great people, that you may know and understand their ways.

28 Their rulers are all rebellious, walking treacherously; like brass and iron, they are corruptible.

29 The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed by their fire; the refiner purges in vain; for their evil does not come out.

30 Rejected silver, they are called, because the LORD has rejected them.

1 Бегите, чтобы жизнь спасти, потомки Вениамина, из города Иерусалима! В Фекое протрубите в трубы, возвещающие о войне, в Беф-Кареме поднимите флаги, предостерегающие вас о том, что с севера к вам движется беда, несущая великую погибель.

2 Ты, Иерусалим, словно прекрасный луг, но я уничтожу тебя.

3 Пастухи недругов твоих обступят тебя и приведут свои отары. Они раскинут свои шатры вокруг тебя, и каждый из них будет пасти своих овец.

4 Готовьтесь к сражению против Иерусалима, вставайте, мы в полдень нападём. Но уже поздно, уже выросли вечерние тени.

5 Тогда вставайте! Давайте ночью нападём и разрушим крепкие стены вокруг Иерусалима.

6 Вот что говорит Всемогущий Господь: «Срубите деревья вокруг Иерусалима и сделайте осадный вал; достоин наказания этот город, потому что в нём нет ничего, кроме угнетения.

7 Как вода сохраняет свою свежесть в колодце, так и Иерусалим сохраняет свою злость. Я слышу в том городе о насилии и грабежах, Я вижу лишь страдания и зло.

8 Иерусалим, предупреждаю, слушай, но, если не послушаешься, Я спиною повернусь к тебе и землю твою сделаю пустыней, в которой жить уже никто не сможет».

9 Вот что говорит Всемогущий Господь: «Как виноград последний собери оставшихся в Израиле людей, проверь, как сборщик проверяет виноградные лозы во время сбора урожая.

10 Кому мне говорить, кого предупреждать, кто будет слушать? Люди Израиля закрыли уши и не слышат, им неприятно поучение Господа, весть Его слышать они не хотят.

11 Но полон Я Господнего гнева, Я сдерживать его устал. Пролью его на юношей и на детей, играющих на улице, пролью на мужа, на жену и на стариков.

12 Тогда дома, поля и жёны их — всё достанется другим. Я руку подниму Мою и накажу народы Иудеи». Так говорит Господь.

13 «Всё это случится потому, что корыстны стали люди, жаждою денег они поглощены. Все, от ничтожных до значительных, корыстны, все, от пророков до священников, во лжи.

14 Сильную боль народ Мой претерпел, пророки и священники должны на раны наложить повязки, но как царапины они врачуют раны. И хотя говорят они, что раны не опасны, но на самом деле раны те смертельны.

15 Пророкам и священникам должно быть стыдно за свои поступки, но нет у них стыда за грехи свои, поэтому их ждёт наказание, как и всех. Я брошу наземь их, когда приду наказывать людей». Так говорит Господь.

16 Сказал Господь: «На перекрёстке встаньте и посмотрите, где была старая дорога; спросите, где хорошая дорога, и если вы по ней пойдёте, то отыщете всё остальное сами. Но вы ответили: „Нет, не пойдём!”

17 Я стражу выбрал, чтоб следить за вами, сказав, чтоб слушали они трубы, оповещающие войну. Но Мне ответили они: „Не будем слушать!”

18 Итак, послушайте, народы! Смотрите, что сделаю Я с ними.

19 Услышьте, люди всей земли: Я наведу беду на жителей Иудеи, за всё задуманное зло, за то, что слов Моих не слушали они и отказались соблюдать закон.

20 Зачем вы благовонное курение принесли из Севы и сладостный тростник из дальних стран? Мне ваши жертвы всесожжения не приносят и малой радости. Мне ваши жертвы не нужны».

21 Так говорит Господь: «Я пошлю невыносимые трудности народам Иудеи. Они будут словно камни, которые заставят людей спотыкаться: отцы и дети упадут, а соседи и друзья погибнут».

22 Так говорит Господь: «С севера идёт большая армия, и народ великий шествует с далёкой земли.

23 Несут солдаты луки и стрелы, они могущественны, жестоки и немилосердны. Они сильны, и когда скачут, то похожи на ревущий океан. Они идут, готовые к сражению, чтобы напасть на Иерусалим».

24 Мы весть о них услышали, и страх нас охватил. Мы пойманы в капканы наших бед, страдаем от боли словно роженица.

25 Не ходите в открытое поле, не выходите на дорогу, потому что вражеский меч и опасность кругом.

26 В одежды печали, люди Мои, оденьтесь, в пепле катайтесь и плачьте по мёртвым своим, будто утратили вы единственного сына, потому что близок уже разрушитель.

27 «Иеремия, велю тебе Я стать подобно мастеру, который испытывает металлы. Испытывать Моих людей ты будешь и наблюдать, что делают они.

28 Против Меня повернулись люди Мои, они упрямы, клевещут друг на друга, они как бронза и железо, которые от ржавчины тускнеют.

29 Они похожи на плавильщика, который пытался очистить серебро от примесей. Он пламя сильное раздул в мехах, но не было серебра в плавильной печи, а лишь свинец, и время зря потерял плавильщик. Вот так же не очистился и Мой народ от зла.

30 Людей Моих все назовут „отверженным серебром”, поскольку их отверг Господь».

2 I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.	2 Ты, Иерусалим, словно прекрасный луг, но я уничтожу тебя.
3 The shepherds with their flocks shall come to her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.	3 Пастухи недругов твоих обступят тебя и приведут свои отары. Они раскинут свои шатры вокруг тебя, и каждый из них будет пасти своих овец.
4 Prepare war against her; and say, Arise, let us go up at noon. Woe to us! for the day is spent, and the shadows of the evening are lengthened.	4 Готовьтесь к сражению против Иерусалима, вставайте, мы в полдень нападём. Но уже поздно, уже выросли вечерние тени.
5 Arise, and let us go up against her by night, and let us destroy her palaces.	5 Тогда вставайте! Давайте ночью нападём и разрушим крепкие стены вокруг Иерусалима.
6 For thus says the LORD of hosts, Hew down her trees and cast a mound against Jerusalem; this is the city to be visited with destruction; all of her calumnies are in the midst of her.	6 Вот что говорит Всемогущий Господь: «Срубите деревья вокруг Иерусалима и сделайте осадный вал; достоин наказания этот город, потому что в нём нет ничего, кроме угнетения.
7 As a cistern that gathers its water, so has she gathered her wickedness; violence and plunder are heard in her; before me continually are grief and wounds.	7 Как вода сохраняет свою свежесть в колодце, так и Иерусалим сохраняет свою злость. Я слышу в том городе о насилии и грабежах, Я вижу лишь страдания и зло.
8 Be chastised, O Jerusalem, lest my soul abhor you; lest I make you desolate like an uninhabited land.	8 Иерусалим, предупреждаю, слушай, но, если не послушаешься, Я спиною повернусь к тебе и землю твою сделаю пустыней, в которой жить уже никто не сможет».
9 Thus says the LORD of hosts, They shall thoroughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine; turn back your hand as a grape gatherer when he gleans the grapes.	9 Вот что говорит Всемогущий Господь: «Как виноград последний собери оставшихся в Израиле людей, проверь, как сборщик проверяет виноградные лозы во время сбора урожая.
10 To whom shall I speak and give warning, that they may hear? Behold, their ears are dull and they cannot hear; behold, the word of the LORD is to them a reproach; they have no delight in it.	10 Кому мне говорить, кого предупреждать, кто будет слушать? Люди Израиля закрыли уши и не слышат, им неприятно поучение Господа, весть Его слышать они не хотят.
11 Therefore you are full of the fury of the LORD, and you are weary; I will measure and then I will pour it out upon the children in the streets and upon the assembly of young men together; for even the husbands and wives shall be taken, the old men with the infants.	11 Но полон Я Господнего гнева, Я сдерживать его устал. Пролью его на юношей и на детей, играющих на улице, пролью на мужа, на жену и на стариков.
12 Their houses shall be given to others, with their fields and wives together; for I will stretch out my hand against the inhabitants of the land, says the LORD.	12 Тогда дома, поля и жёны их — всё достанется другим. Я руку подниму Мою и накажу народы Иудеи». Так говорит Господь.

Все, от ничтожных до значительных, корыстны, все, от пророков до священников, во лжи.
14 And yet they try to heal the wound of the daughter of my people mockingly, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.	14 Сильную боль народ Мой претерпел, пророки и священники должны на раны наложить повязки, но как царапины они врачуют раны. И хотя говорят они, что раны не опасны, но на самом деле раны те смертельны.
15 Now they are ashamed because they had committed abomination, but the impudent are not ashamed at all, neither do they know what chastisement is; therefore they shall fall among them that fall; at the time that I visit them with punishment they shall be overthrown, says the LORD.	15 Пророкам и священникам должно быть стыдно за свои поступки, но нет у них стыда за грехи свои, поэтому их ждёт наказание, как и всех. Я брошу наземь их, когда приду наказывать людей». Так говорит Господь.

But you said, We will not walk therein.	16 Сказал Господь: «На перекрёстке встаньте и посмотрите, где была старая дорога; спросите, где хорошая дорога, и если вы по ней пойдёте, то отыщете всё остальное сами. Но вы ответили: „Нет, не пойдём!”
17 Also I set watchmen over you, so that you might hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But you said, We will not hearken.	17 Я стражу выбрал, чтоб следить за вами, сказав, чтоб слушали они трубы, оповещающие войну. Но Мне ответили они: „Не будем слушать!”
18 Therefore hear, O nations, and know, O congregation, the deceit that is among them.	18 Итак, послушайте, народы! Смотрите, что сделаю Я с ними.
19 Hear, O earth! Они будут словно камни, которые заставят людей спотыкаться: отцы и дети упадут, а соседи и друзья погибнут».

26 O daughter of my people, gird yourself with sackcloth and wallow in ashes; make for yourself mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation; for the plunderers shall suddenly come upon you.	26 В одежды печали, люди Мои, оденьтесь, в пепле катайтесь и плачьте по мёртвым своим, будто утратили вы единственного сына, потому что близок уже разрушитель.
27 I have set you as a seer among my great people, that you may know and understand their ways.	27 «Иеремия, велю тебе Я стать подобно мастеру, который испытывает металлы. Испытывать Моих людей ты будешь и наблюдать, что делают они.
28 Their rulers are all rebellious, walking treacherously; like brass and iron, they are corruptible.	28 Против Меня повернулись люди Мои, они упрямы, клевещут друг на друга, они как бронза и железо, которые от ржавчины тускнеют.
29 The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed by their fire; the refiner purges in vain; for their evil does not come out.	29 Они похожи на плавильщика, который пытался очистить серебро от примесей. Он пламя сильное раздул в мехах, но не было серебра в плавильной печи, а лишь свинец, и время зря потерял плавильщик. Вот так же не очистился и Мой народ от зла.
30 Rejected silver, they are called, because the LORD has rejected them.	30 Людей Моих все назовут „отверженным серебром”, поскольку их отверг Господь».
