1 Не зави́дуй злим лю́дям, не бажай бути з ними,

2 бо їхнє серце говорить про зди́рство, а у́ста їхні мовлять про зло.

3 Дім будується мудрістю, і розумом ста́виться міцно.

4 А через пізна́ння кімна́ти напо́внюються усіля́ким має́тком цінни́м та приє́мним.

5 Мудрий сильніший від сильного, а люди́на розумна — від повносилого.

6 Тому́ то провадь війну мудрими ра́дами, бо спасі́ння — в числе́нності ра́дників.

7 Для безумного мудрість за надто висока, — своїх уст не розкриє при брамі.

8 Хто чини́ти лихе заміря́є, того́ звуть лукавим.

9 Замір глупо́ти — то гріх, а насмі́шник — оги́да люди́ні.

10 Якщо ти в день недолі знеси́лився, то мала́ твоя сила.

11 Рятуй узятих на смерть, також тих, хто на стра́чення хи́литься, — хіба не підтри́маєш їх?

12 Якщо скажеш: „Цього́ ми не знали!“ — чи ж Той, хто серця́ випробо́вує, знати не буде? Він Сторож твоєї душі, і Він знає про це, і пове́рне люди́ні за чином її.

13 Їж, си́ну мій, мед, бо він добрий, а мед щільнико́вий — солодкий він на піднебі́нні твоїм, —

14 отак мудрість пізнай для своєї душі: якщо зна́йдеш її, то ти маєш майбу́тність, і надія твоя не пони́щиться!

15 Не чату́й на поме́шкання праведного, ти безбожнику, не огра́блюй мешка́ння його,

16 бо праведний сім раз впаде́ — та зведе́ться, а безбожний в погибіль впаде́!

17 Не тішся, як ворог твій па́дає, а коли він спіткне́ться, — хай серце твоє не радіє,

18 щоб Господь не побачив, і це не було в Його о́чах лихим, і щоб Він не звернув Свого гніву від нього на тебе!

19 Не пались на злочинців, не заздри безбожним,

20 бо злому не буде майбу́тности, світильник безбожних погасне.

21 Бійся, сину мій, Господа та царя́, не водися з непе́вними,

22 бо погибіль їхня на́гло постане, а біду від обох тих хто знає?

23 І оце ось походить від мудрих: Звертати увагу в суді́ на обличчя — не добре.

24 Хто буде казати безбожному: „Праведний ти!“ того проклина́тимуть люди, і гніватись будуть на того наро́ди.

25 А тим, хто картає його, буде миле оце́, і при́йде на них благослове́ння добра!

26 Мов у губи цілує, хто відповідає правдиве.

27 Приготуй свою працю надво́рі, й оброби собі поле, а по́тім збудуєш свій дім.

28 Не будь ложним сві́дком на свого ближнього, і не підгово́рюй уста́ми своїми.

29 Не кажи: „Як зробив він мені, так зроблю́ я йому, — верну́ люди́ні за чином її!“

30 Я прохо́див край поля люди́ни лінивої, та край виноградника недоу́мкуватого, —

31 і о́сь все воно позаро́стало те́рням, будяка́ми покрита поверхня його, камі́нний же мур його був поруйно́ваний.

32 І бачив я те, і увагу звернув, і взяв я поу́ку собі:

33 „Ще тро́хи поспа́ти, подріма́ти ще тро́хи, руки трохи зложи́ти, щоб поле́жати, —

34 і прихо́дить, немов мандрівни́к, незамо́жність твоя, і ну́жда твоя, як озбро́єний муж!“

Chapter 24

1 Be not you envious7065 against evil7451 men,582 neither408 desire183 to be with them.

2 For their heart3820 studies1897 destruction,7701 and their lips8193 talk1696 of mischief.5999

3 Through wisdom2451 is an house1004 built;1129 and by understanding8394 it is established:3559

4 And by knowledge1847 shall the chambers2315 be filled4390 with all3605 precious3368 and pleasant5273 riches.1952

5 A wise2450 man1397 is strong;5797 yes, a man376 of knowledge1847 increases553 strength.3581

6 For by wise counsel8458 you shall make your war:4421 and in multitude7230 of counsellors3289 there is safety.8668

7 Wisdom2454 is too high7311 for a fool:191 he opens6605 not his mouth6310 in the gate.8179

8 He that devises2803 to do evil7489 shall be called7121 a mischievous4209 person.1167

9 The thought2154 of foolishness200 is sin:2403 and the scorner3887 is an abomination8441 to men.120

10 If you faint7503 in the day3117 of adversity,6869 your strength3581 is small.6862

11 If you forbear2820 to deliver5337 them that are drawn3947 to death,4194 and those that are ready4131 to be slain;2027

15 Lay not wait,693 O wicked7563 man, against the dwelling5116 of the righteous;6662 spoil7703 not his resting7258 place:

16 For a just6662 man falls5307 seven7651 times, and rises6965 up again: but the wicked7563 shall fall3782 into mischief.7451

15 Не чату́й на поме́шкання праведного, ти безбожнику, не огра́блюй мешка́ння його,
