Chapter 15

1 THEN Pharisees and scribes from Jerusalem came up to Jesus, saying,

2 Why do your disciples disregard the tradition of the elders, and they do not wash their hands when they eat food?

3 Jesus answered and said to them, Why do you also disregard the commandment of God on account of your tradition.

4 For God said, Honor your father and your mother, and whoever curses his father and his mother, let him be put to death.

5 But you say, Whoever says to a father or to a mother, Whatever you may be benefited from me is Corban (my offering), he need not honor his father or his mother.

6 So you have rendered useless the word of God for the sake of your tradition.

7 O you hypocrites, the prophet Isaiah well prophesied concerning you and said,

8 This people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far away from me.

9 And they worship me in vain, when they teach the doctrines of the commandments of men.

10 Then he called the people and said to them, Listen and understand.

11 It is not what enters into the mouth which defiles man; but what goes out of the mouth, that is what defiles man.

12 Then his disciples came up and said to him, Do you know that the Pharisees who heard this saying were offended?

13 But he answered and said to them, Every plant that my heavenly Father did not plant, shall be uprooted.

14 Leave them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if the blind lead around the blind, both will fall into a pit.

15 And Simon Peter answered and said to him, My Lord, explain this parable to us.

16 And he said to them, Even yet do you not understand?

17 Do you not know that what enters into the mouth goes into the stomach, and thence, through the intestines, is cast out?

18 But what comes out of the mouth comes out from the heart; and that is what defiles man.

19 For from the heart come out evil thoughts, such as fornication, murder, adultery, theft, false witness, blasphemy.

20 It is these that defile man; but if a man should eat when his hands are unwashed, he will not be defiled.

21 And Jesus went out from thence, and he came to the border of Tyre and Sidon.

22 And behold, a Canaanite woman from these borders, came out crying aloud, and saying, Have mercy on me, O my Lord, son of David; my daughter is seriously afflicted with insanity.

23 But he did not answer her. And his disciples came up to him and urged him, saying, Dismiss her, for she keeps crying aloud after us.

24 And he answered and said to them, I am not sent, except to the sheep which went astray from the house of Israel.

25 But she came and worshipped him, and said, My Lord, help me.

26 Jesus said to her, It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.

27 But she said Yes, my Lord, even the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from the master's tray, and they live.

28 Then Jesus said to her, O woman, your faith is great; let it be to you as you wish; and her daughter was healed from that very hour.

29 And Jesus departed from thence, and he came toward the sea of Galilee; and he went up to a mountain and sat down there.

30 And a great many people came to him, who had with them the lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at the feet of Jesus, and he healed them.

31 So that the people wondered, to see the dumb speaking, and the maimed healed, and the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they praised the God of Israel.

32 Jesus then called his disciples and said to them, I have compassion for this people, for they have remained with me three days, and they have nothing to eat; and if I dismiss them fasting, they might faint on the way; but this I do not wish to do.

33 His disciples said to him, Where can we get bread in this desolate place to feed all this people?

34 Jesus said to them, How many loaves of bread have you? They said to him, Seven, and a few small fish.

35 So he ordered the people to sit on the ground.

36 Then he took the seven loaves of bread and the fish, and gave thanks, and he broke them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

37 And all of them did eat and were satisfied; and they took up of the fragments that were left over, seven full baskets.

38 And those who did eat were four thousand men, besides women and children.

39 And when he had dismissed the people, he went up to the boat and came to the border of Magadan.

Розділ 15

1 Тоді до Ісуса прийшли фарисеї та книжники з Єрусалиму й сказали:

2 „Чого Твої учні ламають переда́ння старших? Бо не миють вони своїх рук, коли хліб споживають“.

3 А Він відповів і промовив до них: „А чого й ви порушуєте Божу заповідь ради переда́ння вашого?

4 Бо Бог заповів: „Шануй ба́тька та матір“, та: „Хто злорі́чить на ба́тька чи матір, — хай смертю помре“.

5 А ви кажете: Коли скаже хто ба́тьку чи матері: „Те, чим би ви скористатись від мене хотіли, то дар Богові“,

6 то може вже й не шанувати той ба́тька свого або матір свою. Так ви ради переда́ння вашого зні́вечили Боже Слово.

7 Лицеміри! Про вас добре Ісая пророкував, говорячи:

8 „Оці люди уста́ми шанують Мене, серце ж їхнє дале́ко від Мене!

9 Та однак надаре́мне шанують Мене, бо навчають наук — лю́дських за́повідей“.

10 І Він покликав наро́д, і промовив до нього: „Послухайте та зрозумійте!

11 Не те, що вхо́дить до уст, люди́ну скверни́ть, але те, що виходить із уст, те люди́ну скверни́ть“.

12 Тоді учні Його приступили й сказали Йому: „Чи Ти знаєш, що фарисеї, почуши це слово, спокуси́лися?“

13 А Він відповів і сказав: „Усяка росли́на, яку насадив не Отець Мій Небесний, буде вирвана з коренем.

14 Залишіть ви їх: це сліпі повода́тарі для сліпих. А коли сліпий водить сліпого, — обо́є до ями впаду́ть“.

15 А Петро відповів і до Нього сказав: „Поясни нам цю при́тчу“.

16 А Він відказав: „Чи ж і ви розумі́ння не маєте?

17 Чи ж ви не розумієте, що все те, що́ входить до уст, вступає в живіт, та й назовні виходить?

18 Що ж виходить із уст, те походить із серця, — і воно опога́нює люди́ну.

19 Бо з серця виходять лихі думки́, душогубства, пере́люби, розпуста, крадіж, неправдиві засвідчення, богознева́ги.

20 Оце те, що люди́ну опога́нює. А їсти руками невмитими, — не опога́нює це люди́ни!“

21 І, вийшовши звідти, Ісус відійшов у землі ти́рські й сидо́нські.

22 І ось жінка одна ханане́янка, із тих околиць прийшовши, заголосила до Нього й сказала: „Змилуйся надо мною, Господи, Сину Давидів, — де́мон тяжко дочку́ мою мучить!“

23 А Він їй не казав ані слова. Тоді учні Його, підійшовши, благали Його та казали: „Відпусти її, бо кричить услід за нами!“

24 А Він відповів і сказав: „Я по́сланий тільки до овечок загинулих дому Ізраїлевого“.

25 А вона, підійшовши, уклонилась Йому та й сказала: „Господи, допоможи мені!“

26 А Він відповів і сказав: „Не годи́ться взяти хліб у дітей, і кинути щеня́там“.

27 Вона ж відказала: „Так, Господи! Але ж і щеня́та їдять ті кришки́, що спадають зо сто́лу їхніх панів“.

28 Тоді відповів і сказав їй Ісус: „О жінко, твоя віра велика, — нехай буде тобі, я́к ти хочеш“! І тієї години дочка́ її ви́дужала.

29 І, відійшовши звідти, Ісус прибув до Галіле́йського моря, і, зійшовши на го́ру, сів там.

30 І приступило до Нього багато наро́ду, що мали з собою кривих, калік, сліпих, німих і інших багато, і клали їх до Ісусових ніг. І Він уздоро́влював їх.

31 А наро́д не вихо́див із дива, бо бачив, що говорять німі, каліки стаю́ть здорові, криві ходять, і бачать сліпі, — і сла́вив він Бога Ізраїлевого!

32 А Ісус Своїх у́чнів покликав і сказав: „Жаль Мені цих людей, що вже три́ дні зо Мною знахо́дяться, але їсти не мають чого́; відпустити їх без їжі не хо́чу, щоб вони не ослабли в дорозі“.

33 А учні Йому відказали: „Де́ нам узяти стільки хліба в пустині, щоб нагодувати стільки наро́ду?“

34 А Ісус запитав їх: „Скільки маєте хліба?“ Вони ж відказали: „Семеро, та трохи рибок“.

35 І Він ізвелів на землі посідати наро́дові.

36 І, взявши сім хлібів і риби, віддавши Богу подяку, поламав і дав у́чням Своїм, а учні наро́дові.

37 І всі їли й наси́тилися, а з позосталих кусків назбирали сім ко́шиків по́вних...

38 Їдців же було чотири тисячі мужа, окрім жінок та дітей.

39 І, відпустивши наро́д, усів Він до чо́вна, і прибув до землі Магдали́нської.

1 THEN Pharisees and scribes from Jerusalem came up to Jesus, saying,	1 Тоді до Ісуса прийшли фарисеї та книжники з Єрусалиму й сказали:
2 Why do your disciples disregard the tradition of the elders, and they do not wash their hands when they eat food?	2 „Чого Твої учні ламають переда́ння старших? Бо не миють вони своїх рук, коли хліб споживають“.
3 Jesus answered and said to them, Why do you also disregard the commandment of God on account of your tradition.	3 А Він відповів і промовив до них: „А чого й ви порушуєте Божу заповідь ради переда́ння вашого?
4 For God said, Honor your father and your mother, and whoever curses his father and his mother, let him be put to death.	4 Бо Бог заповів: „Шануй ба́тька та матір“, та: „Хто злорі́чить на ба́тька чи матір, — хай смертю помре“.
5 But you say, Whoever says to a father or to a mother, Whatever you may be benefited from me is Corban (my offering), he need not honor his father or his mother.	5 А ви кажете: Коли скаже хто ба́тьку чи матері: „Те, чим би ви скористатись від мене хотіли, то дар Богові“,
6 So you have rendered useless the word of God for the sake of your tradition.	6 то може вже й не шанувати той ба́тька свого або матір свою. Так ви ради переда́ння вашого зні́вечили Боже Слово.
7 O you hypocrites, the prophet Isaiah well prophesied concerning you and said,	7 Лицеміри! Про вас добре Ісая пророкував, говорячи:
8 This people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far away from me.	8 „Оці люди уста́ми шанують Мене, серце ж їхнє дале́ко від Мене!
9 And they worship me in vain, when they teach the doctrines of the commandments of men.	9 Та однак надаре́мне шанують Мене, бо навчають наук — лю́дських за́повідей“.
10 Then he called the people and said to them, Listen and understand.	10 І Він покликав наро́д, і промовив до нього: „Послухайте та зрозумійте!
11 It is not what enters into the mouth which defiles man; but what goes out of the mouth, that is what defiles man.	11 Не те, що вхо́дить до уст, люди́ну скверни́ть, але те, що виходить із уст, те люди́ну скверни́ть“.
12 Then his disciples came up and said to him, Do you know that the Pharisees who heard this saying were offended?	12 Тоді учні Його приступили й сказали Йому: „Чи Ти знаєш, що фарисеї, почуши це слово, спокуси́лися?“
13 But he answered and said to them, Every plant that my heavenly Father did not plant, shall be uprooted.	13 А Він відповів і сказав: „Усяка росли́на, яку насадив не Отець Мій Небесний, буде вирвана з коренем.
14 Leave them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if the blind lead around the blind, both will fall into a pit.	14 Залишіть ви їх: це сліпі повода́тарі для сліпих. А коли сліпий водить сліпого, — обо́є до ями впаду́ть“.

16 And he said to them, Even yet do you not understand?	16 А Він відказав: „Чи ж і ви розумі́ння не маєте?
17 Do you not know that what enters into the mouth goes into the stomach, and thence, through the intestines, is cast out?	17 Чи ж ви не розумієте, що все те, що́ входить до уст, вступає в живіт, та й назовні виходить?
18 But what comes out of the mouth comes out from the heart; and that is what defiles man.	18 Що ж виходить із уст, те походить із серця, — і воно опога́нює люди́ну.
19 For from the heart come out evil thoughts, such as fornication, murder, adultery, theft, false witness, blasphemy.	19 Бо з серця виходять лихі думки́, душогубства, пере́люби, розпуста, крадіж, неправдиві засвідчення, богознева́ги.
20 It is these that defile man; but if a man should eat when his hands are unwashed, he will not be defiled.	20 Оце те, що люди́ну опога́нює. А їсти руками невмитими, — не опога́нює це люди́ни!“
21 And Jesus went out from thence, and he came to the border of Tyre and Sidon.	21 І, вийшовши звідти, Ісус відійшов у землі ти́рські й сидо́нські.

23 But he did not answer her. And his disciples came up to him and urged him, saying, Dismiss her, for she keeps crying aloud after us.	23 А Він їй не казав ані слова. Тоді учні Його, підійшовши, благали Його та казали: „Відпусти її, бо кричить услід за нами!“
24 And he answered and said to them, I am not sent, except to the sheep which went astray from the house of Israel.	24 А Він відповів і сказав: „Я по́сланий тільки до овечок загинулих дому Ізраїлевого“.
25 But she came and worshipped him, and said, My Lord, help me.	25 А вона, підійшовши, уклонилась Йому та й сказала: „Господи, допоможи мені!“
26 Jesus said to her, It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.	26 А Він відповів і сказав: „Не годи́ться взяти хліб у дітей, і кинути щеня́там“.
27 But she said Yes, my Lord, even the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from the master's tray, and they live.	27 Вона ж відказала: „Так, Господи! Але ж і щеня́та їдять ті кришки́, що спадають зо сто́лу їхніх панів“.
28 Then Jesus said to her, O woman, your faith is great; let it be to you as you wish; and her daughter was healed from that very hour.	28 Тоді відповів і сказав їй Ісус: „О жінко, твоя віра велика, — нехай буде тобі, я́к ти хочеш“! І тієї години дочка́ її ви́дужала.
29 And Jesus departed from thence, and he came toward the sea of Galilee; and he went up to a mountain and sat down there.	29 І, відійшовши звідти, Ісус прибув до Галіле́йського моря, і, зійшовши на го́ру, сів там.
30 And a great many people came to him, who had with them the lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at the feet of Jesus, and he healed them.	30 І приступило до Нього багато наро́ду, що мали з собою кривих, калік, сліпих, німих і інших багато, і клали їх до Ісусових ніг. І Він уздоро́влював їх.
31 So that the people wondered, to see the dumb speaking, and the maimed healed, and the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they praised the God of Israel.	31 А наро́д не вихо́див із дива, бо бачив, що говорять німі, каліки стаю́ть здорові, криві ходять, і бачать сліпі, — і сла́вив він Бога Ізраїлевого!
32 Jesus then called his disciples and said to them, I have compassion for this people, for they have remained with me three days, and they have nothing to eat; and if I dismiss them fasting, they might faint on the way; but this I do not wish to do.	32 А Ісус Своїх у́чнів покликав і сказав: „Жаль Мені цих людей, що вже три́ дні зо Мною знахо́дяться, але їсти не мають чого́; відпустити їх без їжі не хо́чу, щоб вони не ослабли в дорозі“.
33 His disciples said to him, Where can we get bread in this desolate place to feed all this people?	33 А учні Йому відказали: „Де́ нам узяти стільки хліба в пустині, щоб нагодувати стільки наро́ду?“
34 Jesus said to them, How many loaves of bread have you? They said to him, Seven, and a few small fish.	34 А Ісус запитав їх: „Скільки маєте хліба?“ Вони ж відказали: „Семеро, та трохи рибок“.
35 So he ordered the people to sit on the ground.	35 І Він ізвелів на землі посідати наро́дові.
36 Then he took the seven loaves of bread and the fish, and gave thanks, and he broke them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.	36 І, взявши сім хлібів і риби, віддавши Богу подяку, поламав і дав у́чням Своїм, а учні наро́дові.
37 And all of them did eat and were satisfied; and they took up of the fragments that were left over, seven full baskets.	37 І всі їли й наси́тилися, а з позосталих кусків назбирали сім ко́шиків по́вних...
38 And those who did eat were four thousand men, besides women and children.	38 Їдців же було чотири тисячі мужа, окрім жінок та дітей.
39 And when he had dismissed the people, he went up to the boat and came to the border of Magadan.	39 І, відпустивши наро́д, усів Він до чо́вна, і прибув до землі Магдали́нської.
