Chapter 17

1 AND there was a man from mount Ephraim, whose name was Micah.

2 And he said to his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver which were taken from you, which you swore about, and spoke of also in my ears, behold, it was I who took the silver. And his mother said, Blessed of the LORD is my son.

3 And when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said, I have wholly consecrated the silver to the LORD from the hands of my son, to make a graven image and a molten image; now therefore restore it to me.

4 So he restored the money to his mother; and his mother took two hundred shekels of silver and gave it to the silversmith, who made it into a graven image and a molten image; and they were kept in the house of Micah.

5 And the man Micah had a house of gods, and he made an ephod and a teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

6 In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

7 Now there was a young man from Bethlehem of Judah, whose name was Levi, and he sojourned there.

8 And the man had left the city of Beth-lehem of Judah to dwell wherever he could find a place; and he came to mount Ephraim, to the house of Micah, to obtain provisions for his journey.

9 And Micah said to him, Whence do you come? And he replied, I am a Levite of Beth-lehem of Judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place.

10 And Micah said to him, Dwell with me, and be to me as a father and a priest, and I will give you ten shekels of silver yearly, and your clothes and your food. So the Levite went in.

11 And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was to him as one of his sons.

12 And Micah consecrated the Levite; and he became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.

13 Then said Micah, Now I know that the LORD will do me good, seeing that the Levite has become my priest.

3 И возвратил7725 он матери517 своей тысячу505 сто3967 сиклей серебра.3701 И сказала559 мать517 его: это серебро3701 я от себя3027 посвятила6942 Господу3068 для сына1121 моего, чтобы сделать6213 из него истукан6459 и литый кумир;4541 итак отдаю7725 оное тебе.

4 Но он возвратил7725 серебро3701 матери517 своей. Мать517 его взяла3947 двести3967 сиклей серебра3701 и отдала5414 их плавильщику.6884 Он сделал6213 из них истукан6459 и литый4541 кумир,4541 который и находился в доме1004 Михи.4321

6 В те дни3117 не было царя4428 у Израиля;3478 каждый376 делал6213 то, что ему казалось5869 справедливым.3477

7 Один юноша5288 из Вифлеема1035 Иудейского,3063 из колена4940 Иудина,3063 левит,3881 тогда жил1481 там;

8 этот человек376 пошел3212 из города5892 Вифлеема1035 Иудейского,3063 чтобы пожить,1481 где случится,4672 и идя6213 дорогою,1870 пришел935 на гору2022 Ефремову669 к дому1004 Михи.4318

9 И сказал559 ему Миха:4318 откуда370 ты идешь?935 Он сказал559 ему: я левит3881 из Вифлеема1035 Иудейского3063 и иду1980 пожить,1481 где случится.4672

10 И сказал559 ему Миха:4318 останься3427 у меня и будь у меня отцом1 и священником;3548 я буду5414 давать5414 тебе по десяти6235 сиклей серебра3701 на год,3117 потребное6187 одеяние899 и пропитание.4241

11 Левит3881 пошел3212 к нему и согласился2974 левит3881 остаться3427 у этого человека,376 и был юноша5288 у него, как один259 из сыновей1121 его.

12 Миха4318 посвятил43903027 левита,3881 и этот юноша5288 был у него священником3548 и жил в доме1004 у Михи.4318

13 И сказал559 Миха:4318 теперь я знаю,3045 что Господь3068 будет3190 мне благотворить,3190 потому что левит3881 у меня священником.3548

13 Then said Micah, Now I know that the LORD will do me good, seeing that the Levite has become my priest.
