Chapter 43

1 AND it came to pass when Jeremiah had finished speaking to all the people all the words of the LORD their God, for which the LORD their God had sent him to them to speak to them all these words,

2 Then Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the wicked men said to Jeremiah, You speak falsely; the LORD our God has not sent you to say to us, You shall not go into Egypt to sojourn there;

3 But Baruch the son of Neriah stirred you up against us to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans that they might kill us or carry us away captives into Babylon.

4 So Johanan the son of Kareah and all the officers of the forces and all the people did not obey the voice of the LORD their God, to dwell in the land of Judah.

5 But Johanan the son of Kareah took all the officers of the forces and all the remnant of the people who were left from the house of Judah,

6 Men and women and children and the king's household and every person whom Nebuzaradan the general of the guard had left with Gedeliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet and Baruch the son of Neriah.

7 So they came into the land of Egypt; for they did not obey the voice of the LORD; thus they came as far as Tahpanhes.

8 Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,

9 Take large stones in your hands and hide them in the mortar in the brickkiln which is at the entrance of Pharaoh's house in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah;

10 And say to them. Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon. my servant, and will set his throne above these stones that I have hid; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them.

11 And he shall come and smite the land of Egypt, and he shall deliver those who are for death to death and those who are for captivity to captivity and those who are for the sword to the sword.

12 And he shall kindle a fire in the house of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them and carry them away captives; and he shall conquer the land of Egypt as easily as a shepherd puts on his woolen cloak; and he shall go away from thence peacefully.

13 He shall break also in pieces the image of Beth-shemesh which is in the land of Egypt; and the temples of the gods of the Egyptians he shall burn with fire.

2 тогда сказал559 Азария,5838 сын1121 Осаии,1955 и Иоанан,3110 сын1121 Карея,7143 и все дерзкие2086 люди582 сказали559 Иеремии:3414 неправду8267 ты говоришь,1696 не посылал7971 тебя Господь3068 Бог430 наш сказать:559 «не ходите935 в Египет,4714 чтобы жить1481 там»;

3 а Варух,1263 сын1121 Нирии,5374 возбуждает5496 тебя против нас, чтобы4616 предать5414 нас в руки3027 Халдеев,3778 чтобы они умертвили4191 нас или отвели1540 нас пленными1540 в Вавилон.894

4 И не послушал8085 Иоанан,3110 сын1121 Карея,7143 и все военные2428 начальники8269 и весь народ5971 гласа6963 Господа,3068 чтобы остаться3427 в земле776 Иудейской.3063

5 И взял3947 Иоанан,3110 сын1121 Карея,7143 и все военные2428 начальники8269 весь остаток7611 Иудеев,3063 которые возвратились7725 из всех народов,1471 куда они были5080 изгнаны,5080 чтобы жить1481 в земле776 Иудейской,3063

6 мужей1397 и жен,802 и детей,2945 и дочерей1323 царя,4428 и всех5315 тех, которых Навузардан,5018 начальник7227 телохранителей,2876 оставил3240 с Годолиею,1436 сыном1121 Ахикама,296 сына1121 Сафанова,8227 и Иеремию3414 пророка,5030 и Варуха,1263 сына1121 Нирии;5374

7 и пошли935 в землю776 Египетскую,4714 ибо не послушали8085 гласа6963 Господня,3068 и дошли935 до Тафниса.8471

8 И было слово1697 Господне3068 к Иеремии3414 в Тафнисе:8471

9 возьми3947 в руки3027 свои большие1419 камни68 и скрой2934 их в смятой4404 глине4423 при входе6607 в дом1004 фараона6547 в Тафнисе,8471 пред глазами5869 Иудеев,5823064

10 и скажи559 им: так говорит559 Господь3068 Саваоф,6635 Бог430 Израилев:3478 вот, Я пошлю7971 и возьму3947 Навуходоносора,5019 царя4428 Вавилонского,894 раба5650 Моего, и поставлю7760 престол3678 его на4605 этих камнях,68 скрытых2934 Мною, и раскинет5186 он над ним великолепный8237 шатер8237 свой

11 и придет,935 и поразит5221 землю776 Египетскую:4714 кто обречен на смерть,4194 тот предан будет смерти;4194 и кто в плен,7628 пойдет в плен;7628 и кто под меч,2719 под меч.2719

12 И зажгу3341 огонь784 в капищах1004 богов430 Египтян;4714 и он сожжет8313 оные, а их пленит,7617 и оденется5844 в землю776 Египетскую,4714 как пастух7462 надевает5844 на себя одежду899 свою, и выйдет3318 оттуда спокойно,7965

13 и сокрушит7665 статуи4676 в Бефсамисе,1053 что в земле776 Египетской,4714 и капища1004 богов430 Египетских4714 сожжет8313 огнем.784

7 So they came into the land of Egypt; for they did not obey the voice of the LORD; thus they came as far as Tahpanhes.

8 Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,
