Chapter 33

1 MOREOVER, the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the guard, saying,

2 Thus says the LORD who made you and formed you and established you: the LORD is his name:

3 Call to me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you know not.

4 For thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which the robbers have uprooted by the sword:

5 They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is to fill the streets with the dead bodies of men whom I have slain in my anger and in my wrath; for I have turned my face from this city because of the evil which they did before me.

6 Behold, I will bring to it a long period of healing, and I will heal them and will reveal to them the paths of peace and truth.

7 And I will bring back the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel, and I will build them as at first.

8 And I will cleanse them from their iniquity whereby they have committed evil against me; and I will pardon all their trespasses whereby they have sinned against me, and whereby they have transgressed against me.

9 And Israel shall be to me for a name and for a delight, and for rejoicing and for glory before all the nations of the earth, who shall hear of all the good that I do to them; and they shall fear and be angry because of all the goodness and all the peace that I bring to them.

10 Thus says the LORD: Again there shall be heard in this country which you say is a waste without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, which are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without beast,

11 The voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who say, Praise the LORD of hosts; for the LORD is good and pleasant, and his mercy endures for ever; even of those who bring a sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will bring back the captivity of the land, as at the first, says the LORD of hosts.

12 Thus says the LORD of hosts: From henceforth in this place which is waste, without men and without beast, and in all its cities there shall be habitations of shepherds and folds of the flocks.

13 In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the plain and in the cities of the south and in the land of Benjamin and in the places about Jerusalem and in the cities of Judah, flocks shall again pass under the hands of those who count them, says the LORD.

14 Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will perform the good things which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and concerning the house of Judah, says the LORD.

15 In those days and at that time I will cause an heir of righteousness to rise up to David; and he shall rule over the kingdom and shall have understanding and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

16 In those days Judah shall be saved and Jerusalem shall dwell safely; and this is the name by which they shall call him: The LORD our righteousness.

17 For thus says the LORD, David shall never lack an heir to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;

18 Neither shall the priests and the Levites lack a man before me to offer burnt offerings and to burn meat offerings and to do sacrifice and to burn incense continually.

19 And the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying,

20 Thus says the LORD: if they can break my ordinances of the day, and my ordinances of the night, so that there should not be day and night in their appointed time;

21 Then may also my covenant which I made with David my servant be broken, so that he should not have an heir to reign upon his throne; and my covenant with the priests and the Levites, my ministers.

22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured; so will I multiply the descendants of David my servant and of the Levites who minister to me.

23 Moreover the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying,

24 Have you not considered what this people are saying, The two families which the LORD has chosen, he has rejected? Thus they have provoked my people to anger, that they should be no more a nation before me.

25 Thus says the LORD: If my covenant be not in effect with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;

26 Then I will reject the descendants of Jacob and of David my servant so that I will not take any of his descendants to be rulers over the house of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; for I will bring them back from their exile and will have mercy upon them.

3 воззови7121 ко Мне — и Я отвечу6030 тебе, покажу5046 тебе великое1419 и недоступное,1219 чего ты не знаешь.3045

4 Ибо так говорит559 Господь,3068 Бог430 Израилев,3478 о домах1004 города5892 сего и о домах1004 царей4428 Иудейских,3063 которые разрушаются5422 для завалов5550 и для сражения2719

5 пришедшими935 воевать3898 с Халдеями,3778 чтобы наполнить4390 домы трупами6297 людей,120 которых Я поражу5221 во гневе639 Моем и в ярости2534 Моей, и за все беззакония7451 которых Я сокрыл5641 лице6440 Мое от города5892 сего.

6 Вот, Я приложу5927 ему пластырь724 и целебные4832 средства,4832 и уврачую7495 их, и открою1540 им обилие6283 мира7965 и истины,571

7 и возвращу7725 плен7622 Иуды3063 и плен7622 Израиля3478 и устрою1129 их, как вначале,7223

8 и очищу2891 их от всего нечестия5771 их, которым они грешили2398 предо Мною, и прощу5545 все беззакония5771 их, которыми они грешили2398 предо Мною и отпали6586 от Меня.

9 И будет для меня Иерусалим радостным8342 именем,8034 похвалою8416 и честью8597 пред всеми народами1471 земли,776 которые услышат8085 о всех благах,2896 какие Я сделаю6213 ему, и изумятся6342 и затрепещут7264 от всех благодеяний2896 и всего благоденствия,7965 которое Я доставлю6213 ему.

10 Так говорит559 Господь:3068 на этом месте,4725 о котором вы говорите:559 «оно пусто,2720 без людей120 и без скота»,929 — в городах5892 Иудейских3063 и на улицах2351 Иерусалима,3389 которые пусты,8074 без людей,120 без жителей,3427 без скота,929

11 опять будет8085 слышен8085 голос6963 радости8342 и голос6963 веселья,8057 голос6963 жениха2860 и голос6963 невесты,3618 голос6963 говорящих:559 «славьте3034 Господа3068 Саваофа,6635 ибо благ2896 Господь,3068 ибо вовек5769 милость2617 Его», и голос6963 приносящих935 жертву8426 благодарения8426 в доме1004 Господнем;3068 ибо Я возвращу7725 плененных7622 сей земли776 в прежнее7223 состояние,7223 говорит559 Господь.3068

15 В те дни3117 и в то время6256 возращу6779 Давиду1732 Отрасль6780 праведную,6666 и будет6213 производить6213 суд4941 и правду6666 на земле.776

16 В те дни3117 Иуда3063 будет3467 спасен3467 и Иерусалим3389 будет7931 жить7931 безопасно,983 и нарекут7121 имя Ему: «Господь3072 оправдание3072 наше!»

20 так говорит559 Господь:3068 если можете6565 разрушить6565 завет1285 Мой о дне3117 и завет1285 Мой о ночи,3915 чтобы день3119 и ночь3915 не приходили в свое время,6256

21 то может6565 быть6565 разрушен6565 и завет1285 Мой с рабом5650 Моим Давидом,1732 так что не будет у него сына,1121 царствующего4427 на престоле3678 его, и также с левитами-священниками,38813548 служителями8334 Моими.

23 И было слово1697 Господне3068 к Иеремии:3414

24 не видишь7200 ли, что народ5971 этот говорит:1696 «те два8147 племени,4940 которые избрал977 Господь,3068 Он отверг?3988» и чрез это они презирают5006 народ5971 Мой, как бы он уже не был народом1471 в глазах3942 их.

25 Так говорит559 Господь:3068 если завета1285 Моего о дне3119 и ночи3915 и уставов2708 неба8064 и земли776 Я не утвердил,7760

6 Behold, I will bring to it a long period of healing, and I will heal them and will reveal to them the paths of peace and truth.

7 And I will bring back the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel, and I will build them as at first.

9 And Israel shall be to me for a name and for a delight, and for rejoicing and for glory before all the nations of the earth, who shall hear of all the good that I do to them; and they shall fear and be angry because of all the goodness and all the peace that I bring to them.

10 Thus says the LORD: Again there shall be heard in this country which you say is a waste without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, which are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without beast,

20 Thus says the LORD: if they can break my ordinances of the day, and my ordinances of the night, so that there should not be day and night in their appointed time;

23 Moreover the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying,

25 Thus says the LORD: If my covenant be not in effect with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;
