Proverbs

Chapter 10

1 A WISE son makes his father glad, but a foolish son brings shame to his mother.

2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; but righteousness delivers from death.

3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish; but he casts away the substance of the wicked.

4 Poverty humbles a man; but the hands of diligent men make rich.

5 He who works in summer is a wise man; but he who sleeps in harvest is a son that causes shame.

6 Blessings are upon the head of the righteous; but iniquity covers the mouth of the wicked.

7 The memory of the just is a blessing; but the heir of the wicked shall be extinct.

8 The wise in heart will receive commandments; but one whose lips are full of folly shall be caught.

9 He who walks uprightly walks in hope; but he who perverts his ways shall be known.

10 He who winks with his eyes deceitfully causes sorrow; but he who reproves openly makes peace.

11 The mouth of a righteous man is a fountain of life; but the mouth of the wicked is covered with iniquity.

12 Hatred stirs up strife; shame shall cover all the wicked.

13 He who brings forth wisdom out of his lips shall beat with a rod him that lacks understanding.

14 Wise men conceal knowledge; but a hasty mouth is near destruction.

15 The rich men's wealth is their strong cities; the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

16 The labor of the righteous tends to life; the harvest of the wicked to sin.

17 The true way of life brings discipline; but he who hates reproof is a fool.

18 The lips of the wicked are full of deceits, and he who utters a curse is a fool.

19 The wicked cannot be delivered by a multitude of words; but he who refrains his lips is wise.

20 The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver; the heart of the wicked is full of bitterness.

21 The lips of the righteous are full of mercy; but the fools die for want of wisdom.

22 The blessings of the LORD bring riches, and there shall be no sorrow in them.

23 It is sport to a fool to do mischief; but a man of understanding has wisdom.

24 The wicked shall be dragged to ruin; but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

25 As the whirlwind passes suddenly, so wicked men shall perish and be no more; but the righteous are an everlasting foundation.

26 As unripe grapes are hurtful to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so does wickedness hurt those who indulge in it.

27 Reverence for the LORD prolongs life; but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness; but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

29 The way of the LORD is strength to the upright; but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

30 The righteous shall never be removed; but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

31 The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom; but a perverse tongue shall be silenced.

32 The lips of the righteous know what is good; but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse things.

Глава 10

1 Притчи Соломона: Мудрый сын — радость своего отца, а глупый сын — горе своей матери.

2 Не приносят блага сокровища, нажитые неправдой, а праведность спасает от смерти.

3 Не допустит Господь, чтобы праведник голодал, и не даст нечестивым исполнить свои желания.

4 Ленивые руки ввергают в бедность, а усердные руки приносят богатство.

5 Собирающий плоды летом — разумный сын, а спящий в пору жатвы — сын беспутный.

6 Головы праведников венчают благословения, но на устах нечестивых — жестокость.

7 Память о праведнике будет благословенна, а имя нечестивых сгниет.

8 Мудрый сердцем внимает повелениям, а глупца болтливого ждет крушение.

9 Идущие честно, идут в безопасности, но искривляющие свой путь будут уличены.

10 Лукаво подмигивающий накличет беду, а болтливого глупца ждет крушение.

11 Уста праведника — источник жизни, а уста нечестивых таят насилие.

12 Ненависть будит раздоры, а любовь покрывает все грехи.

13 На губах разумного находится мудрость, но розга — для спины безрассудного.

14 Мудрецы сберегают знание, но уста глупца приближают гибель.

15 Состояние богатого — укрепленный город, а нищета бедных — их гибель.

16 Плата праведному — это жизнь, прибыль нечестивых — грешить опять.

17 Внемлющий наставлению — на пути жизни, но сбивается с пути не слушающий укора.

18 Лживые губы у таящего ненависть, и глуп, кто разносит клевету.

19 При многословии не избежать греха, но тот, кто язык удерживает, разумен.

20 Язык праведника — отборное серебро, но грош цена разуму нечестивых.

21 Многих питают уста праведника, а глупцы умирают от недостатка разума.

22 Благословение Господа обогащает, и не прилагает Он скорби к богатству.

23 Забава глупца — поступать порочно, а мудрость — радость разумного.

24 Что пугает нечестивых, то и постигнет их, а желания праведных будут исполнены.

25 Пронесется буря — и нет нечестивых, а праведные устоят вовеки.

26 Как уксус зубам и дым глазам, так и лентяй для тех, кто его посылает.

27 Страх перед Господом прибавит жизни, а лета нечестивого будут кратки.

28 Надежда праведных ведет к радости, а предвкушение нечестивых не сбудется.

29 Путь Господень — убежище для непорочных, но погибель для тех, кто творит зло.

30 Праведник не искоренится вовеки, но нечестивые на земле не останутся.

31 Уста праведника изрекают мудрость, а порочный язык будет отсечен.

32 Губы праведника знают уместное, а уста нечестивых — порочное.

20 The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver; the heart of the wicked is full of bitterness.	20 Язык праведника — отборное серебро, но грош цена разуму нечестивых.
21 The lips of the righteous are full of mercy; but the fools die for want of wisdom.	21 Многих питают уста праведника, а глупцы умирают от недостатка разума.
