Chapter 10

1 A WISE son makes his father glad, but a foolish son brings shame to his mother.

2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; but righteousness delivers from death.

3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish; but he casts away the substance of the wicked.

4 Poverty humbles a man; but the hands of diligent men make rich.

5 He who works in summer is a wise man; but he who sleeps in harvest is a son that causes shame.

6 Blessings are upon the head of the righteous; but iniquity covers the mouth of the wicked.

7 The memory of the just is a blessing; but the heir of the wicked shall be extinct.

8 The wise in heart will receive commandments; but one whose lips are full of folly shall be caught.

9 He who walks uprightly walks in hope; but he who perverts his ways shall be known.

10 He who winks with his eyes deceitfully causes sorrow; but he who reproves openly makes peace.

11 The mouth of a righteous man is a fountain of life; but the mouth of the wicked is covered with iniquity.

12 Hatred stirs up strife; shame shall cover all the wicked.

13 He who brings forth wisdom out of his lips shall beat with a rod him that lacks understanding.

14 Wise men conceal knowledge; but a hasty mouth is near destruction.

15 The rich men's wealth is their strong cities; the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

16 The labor of the righteous tends to life; the harvest of the wicked to sin.

17 The true way of life brings discipline; but he who hates reproof is a fool.

18 The lips of the wicked are full of deceits, and he who utters a curse is a fool.

19 The wicked cannot be delivered by a multitude of words; but he who refrains his lips is wise.

20 The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver; the heart of the wicked is full of bitterness.

21 The lips of the righteous are full of mercy; but the fools die for want of wisdom.

22 The blessings of the LORD bring riches, and there shall be no sorrow in them.

23 It is sport to a fool to do mischief; but a man of understanding has wisdom.

24 The wicked shall be dragged to ruin; but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

25 As the whirlwind passes suddenly, so wicked men shall perish and be no more; but the righteous are an everlasting foundation.

26 As unripe grapes are hurtful to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so does wickedness hurt those who indulge in it.

27 Reverence for the LORD prolongs life; but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness; but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

29 The way of the LORD is strength to the upright; but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

30 The righteous shall never be removed; but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

31 The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom; but a perverse tongue shall be silenced.

32 The lips of the righteous know what is good; but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse things.

1 Притчи Соломоновы. Мудрый сын радует отца; а глупый сын - горе для матери своей.

2 Неправедные сокровища не помогут; а правда спасет от смерти.

3 Иегова душу праведника не допустит до голода, а алчность беззаконных отринет.

4 Ленивая рука сделает бедным, а рука прилежная обогатит.

5 Умный сын летом запасается; срамный сын во время жатвы спит.

6 Благословения главе праведника; а уста беззаконных осыплет поношение.

7 Память праведного благословенна; а имя беззаконных истлеет.

8 Человек с мудрым сердцем приемлет наставления, а с глупыми устами стремглав падет.

9 Кто ходит в непорочности, тот безопасно ходит; а кто кривит дороги свои, тот будет узнан.

10 Кто косо глядит глазом, тот навлечет беду на себя; и человек с глупыми устами стремглав падет.

11 Уста праведника источник жизни; а уста беззаконных осыплет поношение.

12 Ненависть пробуждает раздоры, а любовь прикрывает всякие проступки.

13 В устах разумного премудрость находится; а на спине малоумного - палка.

14 Мудрые держат у себя в запасе ведение; а уста глупого - близкое разорение.

15 Имение богатого есть крепкий город его; а бедным удар самая бедность их.

16 Праведнику возмездие - к жизни; а приобретение беззаконному - на один грех.

17 Стезя к жизни: соблюдающий добрые правила; а отвергший наставления вводит в заблуждение.

18 Кто скрывает ненависть, у того уста лживые; но глуп и тот, кто сыплет ругательства.

19 При многословии грех неминуем, а кто крепко держит свои уста, тот разумен.

20 Язык праведника есть наилучшее серебро; сердце беззаконных ничего не стоит.

21 Уста праведника пасут многих; а чрез малоумного умирают глупые.

22 Благословение Иеговы - оно обогащает; а горький труд ничего не прибавит к нему.

23 Для глупого увеселением служит дурное дело; и премудрость дает разумение человеку.

24 Чего боится беззаконник, то и постигнет его; и желание праведника сбудется.

25 Пронесся вихрь, и беззаконника не стало; а праведник - на основании вечном.

26 Что уксус для зубов и дым для глаз, то ленивый для посылающих его.

27 Страх Иеговы прибавит дней, а годы беззаконных сократятся.

28 Ожидание праведных - радость; а надежда беззаконных погибнет.

29 Твердыня непорочного - путь Иеговы; а для злодеев - ужас.

30 Праведник вечно непоколебим; а беззаконные не будут жить на земле.

31 Уста праведника приносят плод - премудрость; а развратный язык истребится.

32 Уста праведника знают благоволение; а уста беззаконных - развраты.
