Exodus
Chapter 18
1 Und3548 da Jethro3503, der Priester in Midian4080, Moses4872 Schwiegervater2859, hörete alles, was GOtt430 getan6213 hatte8085 mit Mose4872 und seinem Volk5971 Israel3478, daß der HErr3068 Israel3478 hätte aus3318 Ägypten4714 geführet,
1 When3588 Jethro,3503 the priest3548 of Midian,4080 Moses'4872 father2859 in law,2859 heard8085 of all3605 that God430 had done6213 for Moses,4872 and for Israel3478 his people,5971 and that the LORD3068 had brought3318 Israel3478 out of Egypt;4714
2 nahm3947 er3503 Zipora, Moses4872 Weib802, die er hatte zurückgesandt7964,
2 Then Jethro,3503 Moses'4872 father2859 in law,2859 took3947 Zipporah,6855 Moses'4872 wife,802 after310 he had sent7964 her back,
3 samt ihren zween Söhnen1121, der eine hieß8034 Gersom; denn er sprach559: Ich bin ein259 Gast1616 worden in fremdem5237 Lande776;
3 And her two8147 sons;1121 of which834 the name8034 of the one259 was Gershom;1648 for he said,559 I have been1961 an alien1616 in a strange5237 land:776
4 und der8034 andere259 Elieser461; denn er sprach: Der GOtt430 meines Vaters1 ist meine Hilfe5828 gewesen und hat mich errettet5337 von dem Schwert2719 Pharaos6547.
4 And the name8034 of the other259 was Eliezer;461 for the God430 of my father,1 said he, was my help,5828 and delivered5337 me from the sword2719 of Pharaoh:6547
5 Da nun Jethro3503, Moses4872 Schwäher, und4872 seine Söhne1121 und sein Weib802 zu ihm2859 kamen935 in die Wüste4057, an den Berg2022 Gottes430, da er sich2583 gelagert hatte,
5 And Jethro,3503 Moses'4872 father2859 in law,2859 came935 with his sons1121 and his wife802 to Moses4872 into413 the wilderness,4057 where834 8033 he encamped2583 at the mount2022 of God:430
6 ließ er Mose4872 sagen559: Ich, Jethro3503, dein Schwäher, bin zu dir kommen935, und dein Weib802 und ihre beiden8147 Söhne1121 mit ihr.
6 And he said559 to Moses,4872 I your father2859 in law2859 Jethro3503 am come935 to you, and your wife,802 and her two8147 sons1121 with her.
7 Da ging3318 ihm2859 Mose4872 entgegen7125 hinaus und neigte sich7812 vor ihm und küssete ihn7965. Und da sie5401 sich untereinander376 gegrüßet hatten, gingen935 sie in die Hütte168.
7 And Moses4872 went3318 out to meet7125 his father2859 in law,2859 and did obeisance,7812 and kissed5401 him; and they asked7592 each other7453 of their welfare;7965 and they came935 into the tent.168
8 Da erzählete Mose4872 seinem Schwäher alles, was der HErr3068 Pharao6547 und den Ägyptern4714 getan hatte6213 Israels3478 halben182, und alle die Mühe8513, die ihnen auf dem Wege1870 begegnet4672 war5608, und daß sie der HErr3068 errettet hätte5337.
8 And Moses4872 told5608 his father2859 in law2859 all3605 that the LORD3068 had done6213 to Pharaoh6547 and to the Egyptians4714 for Israel's3478 sake,182 and all3605 the travail8513 that had come4672 on them by the way,1870 and how the LORD3068 delivered5337 them.
9 Jethro3503 aber freuete sich2302 all des Guten2896, das der HErr3068 Israel3478 getan hatte6213, daß er sie errettet hatte5337 von der Ägypter4714 Hand3027.
9 And Jethro3503 rejoiced2302 for all3605 the goodness2896 which834 the LORD3068 had done6213 to Israel,3478 whom834 he had delivered5337 out of the hand3027 of the Egyptians.4714
10 Und Jethro3503 sprach559: Gelobet sei1288 der HErr3068, der euch errettet hat5337 von3027 der Ägypter4714 und Pharaos6547 Hand3027, der weiß sein Volk5971 von der Ägypter4714 Hand3027 zu erretten5337.
10 And Jethro3503 said,559 Blessed1288 be the LORD,3068 who834 has delivered5337 you out of the hand3027 of the Egyptians,4714 and out of the hand3027 of Pharaoh,6547 who834 has delivered5337 the people5971 from under8478 the hand3027 of the Egyptians.4714
11 Nun weiß3045 ich, daß der HErr3068 größer1419 ist denn alle Götter430, darum1697 daß sie Hochmut an ihnen geübet haben2102.
11 Now6258 I know3045 that the LORD3068 is greater1419 than all3605 gods:430 for in the thing1697 wherein834 they dealt proudly2102 he was above5921 them.
12 Und Jethro3503, Moses4872 Schwäher, nahm3947 Brandopfer5930 und opferte GOtt430. Da kam935 Aaron175 und alle Ältesten2205 in Israel3478, mit Moses4872 Schwäher das Brot3899 zu essen398 vor6440 GOtt430.
12 And Jethro,3503 Moses'4872 father2859 in law,2859 took3947 a burnt5930 offering and sacrifices2077 for God:430 and Aaron175 came,935 and all3605 the elders2205 of Israel,3478 to eat398 bread3899 with Moses'4872 father2859 in law2859 before6440 God.430
13 Des andern4283 Morgens setzte5975 sich3427 Mose4872, das Volk5971 zu richten8199; und das Volk5971 stund um Mose4872 her von Morgen1242 an bis zu Abend6153.
13 And it came1961 to pass on the morrow,4283 that Moses4872 sat3427 to judge8199 the people:5971 and the people5971 stood5975 by Moses4872 from the morning1242 to the evening.6153
14 Da aber sein Schwäher sah7200 alles, was er5324 mit dem Volk5971 tat6213, sprach559 er: Was ist, das du tust mit dem Volk5971? Warum sitzest du allein, und4872 alles Volk5971 stehet um1697 dich3427 her von Morgen1242 an bis zu6213 Abend6153?
14 And when Moses'4872 father2859 in law2859 saw7200 all3605 that he did6213 to the people,5971 he said,559 What4100 is this2088 thing1697 that you do6213 to the people?5971 why4069 sit3427 you yourself859 alone,905 and all3605 the people5971 stand5324 by you from morning1242 to even?6153
15 Mose4872 antwortete559 ihm2859: Das Volk5971 kommt935 zu mir und fragen1875 GOtt430 um Rat.
15 And Moses4872 said559 to his father2859 in law,2859 Because3588 the people5971 come935 to me to inquire1875 of God:430
16 Denn wo sie was zu schaffen haben1697, kommen935 sie zu mir, daß ich richte8199 zwischen einem jeglichen376 und seinem Nächsten7453 und zeige3045 ihnen Gottes430 Rechte und seine Gesetze2706.
16 When3588 they have1961 a matter,1697 they come935 to me; and I judge8199 between996 one376 and another,7453 and I do make5414 them know3045 the statutes2706 of God,430 and his laws.8451
17 Sein4872 Schwäher sprach559 zu6213 ihm2859: Es ist nicht gut2896, das1697 du tust.
17 And Moses'4872 father2859 in law2859 said559 to him, The thing1697 that you do6213 is not good.2896
18 Du machest dich zu5034 müde, dazu das1697 Volk5971 auch, das mit dir ist. Das Geschäft ist dir zu schwer3515, du kannst3201 es allein nicht ausrichten.
18 You will surely wear5034 away, both1571 you, and this2088 people5971 that is with you: for this thing1697 is too heavy3515 for you; you are not able3201 to perform6213 it yourself alone.905
19 Aber gehorche meiner Stimme6963; ich will935 dir raten3289, und GOtt430 wird mit dir sein1961. Pflege du8085 des Volks5971 vor GOtt430 und bringe die Geschäfte1697 vor GOtt430;
19 Listen8085 now6258 to my voice,6963 I will give you counsel,3289 and God430 shall be with you: Be you for the people5971 to God-ward,4136 430 that you may bring935 the causes1697 to God:430
20 und stelle2094 ihnen853 Rechte und Gesetze2706, daß du3045 sie lehrest den Weg1870, darin sie wandeln3212, und die Werke4639, die sie tun6213 sollen.
20 And you shall teach2094 them ordinances2706 and laws,8451 and shall show3045 them the way1870 wherein they must walk,3212 and the work4639 that they must do.6213
21 Sieh dich aber um2372 unter allem Volk5971 nach redlichen2428 Leuten582, die GOtt430 fürchten3373, wahrhaftig571 und dem Geiz1215 feind8130 sind; die setze7760 über8269 sie, etliche582 über8269 tausend505, über8269 hundert3967, über8269 fünfzig2572 und über zehn6235,
21 Moreover you shall provide2372 out of all3605 the people5971 able2428 men,582 such as fear3373 God,430 men582 of truth,571 hating8130 covetousness;1215 and place7760 such over5921 them, to be rulers8269 of thousands,505 and rulers8269 of hundreds,3967 rulers8269 of fifties,2572 and rulers8269 of tens:6235
22 daß sie das1697 Volk5971 allezeit richten8199; wo aber eine große1419 Sache1697 ist935, daß sie dieselbe an dich bringen, und6256 sie alle geringen6996 Sachen richten8199. So wird dir‘s leichter werden7043, und sie mit dir tragen5375.
22 And let them judge8199 the people5971 at all3605 seasons:6256 and it shall be, that every3605 great1419 matter1697 they shall bring935 to you, but every3605 small6996 matter1697 they shall judge:8199 so shall it be easier7043 for yourself, and they shall bear5375 the burden with you.
23 Wirst du das1697 tun6213, so kannst du ausrichten5975, was dir GOtt430 gebeut6680, und all dies Volk5971 kann3201 mit Frieden7965 an seinen Ort4725 kommen935.
23 If518 you shall do6213 this2088 thing,1697 and God430 command6680 you so, then you shall be able3201 to endure,5975 and all3605 this2088 people5971 shall also1571 go935 to their place4725 in peace.7965
24 Mose4872 gehorchte8085 seines Schwähers Wort6963 und tat6213 alles, was er sagte559,
24 So Moses4872 listened8085 to the voice6963 of his father2859 in law,2859 and did6213 all3605 that he had said.559
25 und4872 redliche2428 Leute aus dem ganzen Israel3478 und machte5414 sie zu Häuptern7218 über8269 das Volk5971, etliche582 über8269 tausend505, über8269 hundert3967, über8269 fünfzig2572 und über zehn6235
25 And Moses4872 chose977 able2428 men582 out of all3605 Israel,3478 and made5414 them heads7218 over5921 the people,5971 rulers8269 of thousands,505 rulers8269 of hundreds,3967 rulers8269 of fifties,2572 and rulers8269 of tens.6235
26 daß sie1992 das1697 Volk5971 allezeit richteten8199, was aber schwere7186 Sachen wären, zu Mose4872 brächten935, und6256 die kleinen6996 Sachen sie richteten8199.
26 And they judged8199 the people5971 at all3605 seasons:6256 the hard7186 causes1697 they brought935 to Moses,4872 but every3605 small6996 matter1697 they judged8199 themselves.1992
27 Also ließ7971 Mose4872 seinen Schwäher in sein Land776 ziehen3212.
27 And Moses4872 let his father2859 in law2859 depart;7971 and he went3212 his way into413 his own land.776
