Глава 31

1 Горе всякому, кто за помощью идет в Египет, на конницу его надеется, на войско колесничное — так-де оно велико! — и на всадников, которые силою своею славятся, а на Святого Бога Израилева не смотрит, ГОСПОДА не ищет.

2 Но Он мудр! Он бедствие наведет и слов Своих не отменит, встанет против нечестивого народа, против тех, кто пособничает злодеям.

3 Смертны египтяне, ведь они люди, а не Бог, лошади их — животные, а не духи. Стоит ГОСПОДУ протянуть руку, и тот, кто помогал, сам споткнется, и тот, кому помогали, тоже падет — сгинут оба разом.

4 Вот что сказал мне ГОСПОДЬ: «Как лев, молодой лев, который рычит над добычей, пусть и много пастухов вокруг соберется, не дрогнет от криков их и от толпы не оробеет, так и ГОСПОДЬ Воинств выйдет сражаться, сойдет на гору Сион, на высоты ее.

5 Как птица парящая за птенцами смотрит, так и ГОСПОДЬ Воинств укроет Иерусалим: Он заслонит и спасет его, пощадит и избавит.

6 Сыны Израилевы, обратитесь к Тому, Кому вы сильно противились!

7 В тот день отвергнет каждый идолов своих серебряных и золотых, которых собственными руками сотворил на грех себе.

8 Поразит Ассирию меч, но не меч смертного, погубит ее меч, но не по воле человека — побежит она от меча, станут юноши ее людьми подневольными.

9 Падут твердыни ее в страхе, вожди ее в смятении бросят знамя свое», — таково слово ГОСПОДА. Огонь жертвенника Его — на Сионе, горнило — в Иерусалиме.

Chapter 31

1 WOE to those who go down to Egypt for help and trust in horses and rely on chariots because they are many, and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they do not trust in the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!

2 Yet in his wisdom, he will bring a calamity, and will not alter his words; but will arise against the house of evildoers and against the help of those who work iniquity.

3 Now the Egyptians are men and not God; and their horses are flesh and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both the helper shall be overthrown, and he that is helped shall fall down, and they all shall be annihilated together.

4 For thus has the LORD spoken to me: As the lion, even the young lion, roars over his prey when a multitude of shepherds shout against him, is not afraid of their voice nor terrified by their multitude; so shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion and for the hill thereof.

5 As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts alight on Jerusalem; he shall alight to deliver, rescue, and help.

6 Repent, O children of Israel, for you have made your punishment severe.

7 For in that day every man shall despise the idols of gold and the idols of silver which your own hands have made for yourselves for a sin.

8 Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not with the sword of men; neither the sword of mighty men shall devour him; but he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be discomfited.

9 And he shall dwell in his rocky habitation, and his princes shall be defeated from before the standard, says the LORD, whose fire is in Zion and his furnace in Jerusalem.
