Chapter 16

1 NOW Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, started a faction;

2 And they rose up before Moses with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty chiefs of the assembly, who at that time were men of renown;

3 And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said to them, Is it not enough for you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them; wherefore then do you lift up yourselves above the whole congregation of the LORD?

4 And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face;

5 And he spoke to Korah and to all his company and said to them, In the morning the LORD will show who are his, and who are holy; and he will cause them to come near to him; and those whom he has chosen will he cause to come near to him.

6 This do: Take for yourselves censers, you Korah, and all your company;

7 And put fire into them, and put incense into them before the LORD tomorrow; and it shall be that the man whom the LORD chooses, he shall be holy; this is enough for you, O you sons of Levi.

8 And Moses said to Korah, Hear again, O you sons of Levi;

9 Is it not enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the whole congregation of Israel and brought you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD and to stand before the congregation to minister to them?

10 And he has brought you near to him, and all your brethren the sons of Levi with you; and do you seek the priesthood also?

11 Therefore both you and all your company gather yourselves together before the LORD tomorrow; and what is Aaron, that you should murmur against him?

12 And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab; but they said, We will not come up;

13 Is it not enough for you that you have brought us out of a land that flows with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but that you should also make yourselves princes over us?

14 Moreover you have not brought us into a land that flows with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards; even if you should put out our eyes, we will not come up.

15 And Moses was greatly displeased, and said to the LORD, Respect not thou their offerings, because I have not taken an ass from one of them, neither have I hurt one of them.

16 And Moses said to Korah, Present yourselves, you and all your company before the LORD, you and they and Aaron, tomorrow;

17 And take every man his censer, and put fire into it, and put incense into it, and bring before the LORD every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; you also and Aaron, each of you his censer.

18 So they took every man his censer, and put fire into it, and laid incense upon it, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron.

19 And Korah gathered all the congregation against them at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation; and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the congregation.

20 And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

21 Separate yourselves from the midst of this congregation, that I may destroy them in a moment.

22 And they fell upon their faces and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and shall the wrath come upon all the congregation?

23 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

24 Speak to all the congregation, saying, Keep away from about the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.

25 And Moses rose up and went to Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him.

26 And he spoke to all the congregation and said to them, Depart from the tents of these sinful men and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be consumed in their sins.

27 So they withdrew from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram; and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents with their wives and their sons and their little ones.

28 And Moses said, Hereby you shall know that the LORD has sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of my own mind.

29 If these men die the common death of all men or if they be visited after the visitation of all men, then the LORD has not sent me.

30 But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up with all things that belong to them, and they go down alive with all that belongs to them into Sheol, then you shall know that these men have provoked the LORD.

31 And when Moses had finished speaking these words, the ground split asunder under them;

32 And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up with their households and all the men who were with Korah and all their goods.

33 They, and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol, and the earth closed upon them, and they perished from among the congregation.

34 And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them, saying, Lest the earth swallow us up also.

35 And there came out a fire from before the LORD and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.

36 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

37 Speak to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, to take up the censers from among the burned men and scatter the fire yonder; for they are sanctified.

38 The censers of these who sinned against their own souls, make them thin plates for a covering of the altar; for they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are holy; and they shall be a sign to the children of Israel.

39 So Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers, with which they who were burned had offered incense, and they were made thin plates for a covering of the altar,

40 To be a memorial to the children of Israel, so that no stranger, who is not of the descendants of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the LORD; that he be not as Korah and all his company, whom the earth opened its mouth and swallowed, just as the LORD had spoken by the hand of Moses.

41 But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron, saying, You have killed the people of the LORD.

42 And when all the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, they turned toward the tabernacle of the congregation; and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared.

43 And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.

44 And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

45 Get you away from the midst of this congregation, that I may destroy them in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.

46 And Moses said to Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and carry it quickly to the congregation, and make an atonement for them; for wrath has gone out from before the LORD; the plague has already begun among the people.

47 And Aaron took it as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague had already begun among the people; and he put on incense, and made atonement for the people.

48 And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague ceased.

49 Now those who died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, besides those who died in the sedition of Korah.

50 And Aaron returned to Moses at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation; and the plague had ceased.

26 И сказал1696 обществу:5712 отойдите5493 от шатров168 нечестивых7563 людей582 сих, и не прикасайтесь5060 ни к чему, что принадлежит им, чтобы не погибнуть5595 вам во всех грехах2403 их.

28 И сказал559 Моисей:4872 из сего узнаете,3045 что Господь3068 послал7971 меня делать6213 все дела4639 сии, а не по своему произволу3820 я делаю сие:

29 если они умрут,4191 как умирают4194 все люди,120 и постигнет6485 их такое наказание,6486 какое постигает всех людей,120 то не Господь3068 послал7971 меня;

30 а если Господь3068 сотворит1254 необычайное,1278 и земля127 разверзет6475 уста6310 свои и поглотит1104 их и все, что у них, и они живые2416 сойдут3381 в преисподнюю,7585 то знайте,3045 что люди582 сии презрели5006 Господа.3068

31 Лишь только он сказал36151696 слова1697 сии, расселась1234 земля127 под ними;

32 и разверзла6605 земля776 уста6310 свои, и поглотила1104 их и домы1004 их, и всех людей120 Кореевых7141 и все имущество;7399

33 и сошли3381 они со всем, что принадлежало им, живые2416 в преисподнюю,7585 и покрыла3680 их земля,776 и погибли6 они из среды8432 общества.6951

34 И все Израильтяне,3478 которые были вокруг5439 них, побежали5127 при их вопле,6963 дабы, говорили559 они, и нас не поглотила1104 земля.776

39 И взял3947 Елеазар499 священник3548 медные5178 кадильницы,4289 которые принесли7126 сожженные,8313 и разбили7554 их в листы7554 для покрытия6826 жертвенника,4196

40 в память2146 сынам1121 Израилевым,3478 чтобы8344616 никто376 посторонний,2114 который не от семени2233 Аарона,175 не приступал7126 приносить6999 курение7004 пред лице3942 Господне,3068 и не было с ним, что с Кореем7141 и сообщниками5712 его, как говорил1696 ему Господь3068 чрез3027 Моисея.4872

41 На другой4283 день4283 все общество5712 сынов1121 Израилевых3478 возроптало3885 на Моисея4872 и Аарона175 и говорило:559 вы умертвили4191 народ5971 Господень.3068

42 И когда собралось6950 общество5712 против Моисея4872 и Аарона,175 они обратились6437 к скинии168 собрания,4150 и вот, облако6051 покрыло3680 ее, и явилась7200 слава3519 Господня.3068

48 стал5975 он между мертвыми4191 и живыми,2416 и поражение4046 прекратилось.6113

49 И умерло4191 от поражения4046 четырнадцать7026240 тысяч505 семьсот76513967 человек, кроме умерших4191 по делу1697 Корееву.7141

18 So they took every man his censer, and put fire into it, and laid incense upon it, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron.

19 And Korah gathered all the congregation against them at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation; and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the congregation.

20 And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

27 И отошли5927 они со5439 всех5439 сторон5439 от жилища4908 Корея,7141 Дафана1885 и Авирона;48 а Дафан1885 и Авирон48 вышли3318 и стояли5324 у дверей6607 шатров168 своих с женами802 своими и сыновьями1121 своими и с малыми2945 детьми2945 своими.

28 And Moses said, Hereby you shall know that the LORD has sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of my own mind.

28 И сказал559 Моисей:4872 из сего узнаете,3045 что Господь3068 послал7971 меня делать6213 все дела4639 сии, а не по своему произволу3820 я делаю сие:

29 If these men die the common death of all men or if they be visited after the visitation of all men, then the LORD has not sent me.

29 если они умрут,4191 как умирают4194 все люди,120 и постигнет6485 их такое наказание,6486 какое постигает всех людей,120 то не Господь3068 послал7971 меня;

30 But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up with all things that belong to them, and they go down alive with all that belongs to them into Sheol, then you shall know that these men have provoked the LORD.

30 а если Господь3068 сотворит1254 необычайное,1278 и земля127 разверзет6475 уста6310 свои и поглотит1104 их и все, что у них, и они живые2416 сойдут3381 в преисподнюю,7585 то знайте,3045 что люди582 сии презрели5006 Господа.3068

31 And when Moses had finished speaking these words, the ground split asunder under them;

31 Лишь только он сказал36151696 слова1697 сии, расселась1234 земля127 под ними;

32 And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up with their households and all the men who were with Korah and all their goods.

32 и разверзла6605 земля776 уста6310 свои, и поглотила1104 их и домы1004 их, и всех людей120 Кореевых7141 и все имущество;7399

33 They, and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol, and the earth closed upon them, and they perished from among the congregation.

33 и сошли3381 они со всем, что принадлежало им, живые2416 в преисподнюю,7585 и покрыла3680 их земля,776 и погибли6 они из среды8432 общества.6951

34 And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them, saying, Lest the earth swallow us up also.

34 И все Израильтяне,3478 которые были вокруг5439 них, побежали5127 при их вопле,6963 дабы, говорили559 они, и нас не поглотила1104 земля.776

35 And there came out a fire from before the LORD and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.

35 И вышел3318 огонь784 от Господа3068 и пожрал398 тех двести3967 пятьдесят2572 мужей,376 которые принесли7126 курение.7004

36 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

36 И сказал1696 Господь3068 Моисею,4872 говоря:559

37 Speak to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, to take up the censers from among the burned men and scatter the fire yonder; for they are sanctified.

37 скажи559 Елеазару,499 сыну1121 Аарона,175 священнику,3548 пусть он соберет7311 кадильницы4289 сожженных8316 и огонь784 выбросит2219 вон;1973 ибо освятились6942

38 The censers of these who sinned against their own souls, make them thin plates for a covering of the altar; for they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are holy; and they shall be a sign to the children of Israel.

38 кадильницы4289 грешников24005315 сих смертью их, и пусть разобьют6213 их в листы75556341 для покрытия6826 жертвенника,4196 ибо они принесли7126 их пред лице3942 Господа,3068 и они сделались6942 освященными;6942 и будут они знамением226 для сынов1121 Израилевых.3478

39 So Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers, with which they who were burned had offered incense, and they were made thin plates for a covering of the altar,

39 И взял3947 Елеазар499 священник3548 медные5178 кадильницы,4289 которые принесли7126 сожженные,8313 и разбили7554 их в листы7554 для покрытия6826 жертвенника,4196

40 To be a memorial to the children of Israel, so that no stranger, who is not of the descendants of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the LORD; that he be not as Korah and all his company, whom the earth opened its mouth and swallowed, just as the LORD had spoken by the hand of Moses.

40 в память2146 сынам1121 Израилевым,3478 чтобы8344616 никто376 посторонний,2114 который не от семени2233 Аарона,175 не приступал7126 приносить6999 курение7004 пред лице3942 Господне,3068 и не было с ним, что с Кореем7141 и сообщниками5712 его, как говорил1696 ему Господь3068 чрез3027 Моисея.4872

41 But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron, saying, You have killed the people of the LORD.

41 На другой4283 день4283 все общество5712 сынов1121 Израилевых3478 возроптало3885 на Моисея4872 и Аарона175 и говорило:559 вы умертвили4191 народ5971 Господень.3068

42 And when all the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, they turned toward the tabernacle of the congregation; and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared.

42 И когда собралось6950 общество5712 против Моисея4872 и Аарона,175 они обратились6437 к скинии168 собрания,4150 и вот, облако6051 покрыло3680 ее, и явилась7200 слава3519 Господня.3068

43 And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.

43 И пришел935 Моисей4872 и Аарон175 к3942 скинии168 собрания.4150

44 And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

44 И сказал1696 Господь3068 Моисею,4872 говоря:559

45 Get you away from the midst of this congregation, that I may destroy them in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.

45 отсторонитесь7426 от8432 общества5712 сего, и Я погублю3615 их во мгновение.7281 Но они пали5307 на5921 лица6440 свои.

46 And Moses said to Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and carry it quickly to the congregation, and make an atonement for them; for wrath has gone out from before the LORD; the plague has already begun among the people.

46 И сказал559 Моисей4872 Аарону:175 возьми3947 кадильницу4289 и положи5414 в нее огня784 с жертвенника4196 и всыпь7760 курения,7004 и неси3212 скорее4120 к обществу5712 и заступи3722 их, ибо вышел3318 гнев7110 от Господа,3068 и началось2490 поражение.5063

47 And Aaron took it as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague had already begun among the people; and he put on incense, and made atonement for the people.

47 И взял3947 Аарон,175 как сказал1696 Моисей,4872 и побежал7323 в среду8432 общества,6951 и вот, уже началось2490 поражение5063 в народе.5971 И он положил5414 курения7004 и заступил3722 народ;5971

48 And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague ceased.

48 стал5975 он между мертвыми4191 и живыми,2416 и поражение4046 прекратилось.6113

49 Now those who died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, besides those who died in the sedition of Korah.

49 И умерло4191 от поражения4046 четырнадцать7026240 тысяч505 семьсот76513967 человек, кроме умерших4191 по делу1697 Корееву.7141

50 And Aaron returned to Moses at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation; and the plague had ceased.

50 И возвратился7725 Аарон175 к Моисею,4872 ко входу6607 скинии168 собрания,4150 после того как поражение4046 прекратилось.6113
