Chapter 6

1 BE careful concerning your alms, not to do them in the presence of men, merely that they may see them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father in heaven.

2 Therefore when you give alms, do not blow a trumpet before you, just as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the market places, so that they may be glorified by men. Truly I say to you, that they have already received their reward.

3 But when you give alms, let not your left hand know what your right hand is doing;

4 So that your alms may be done secretly, and your Father who sees in secret, shall himself reward you openly.

5 And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who like to pray, standing in the synagogues and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, that they have already received their reward.

6 But you, when you pray, enter into your inner chamber, and lock your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret he himself shall reward you openly.

7 And when you pray, do not repeat your words like the pagans, for they think that because of much talking they will be heard.

8 Therefore, do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need, before you ask him.

9 Therefore pray in this manner: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven so on earth.

11 Give us bread for our needs from day to day.

12 And forgive us our offences, as we have forgiven our offenders;

13 And do not let us enter into temptation, but deliver us from error. Because thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

14 For if you forgive men their faults, your Father in heaven will also forgive you.

15 But if you do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive even your faults.

16 When you fast, do not look sad like the hypocrites; for they disfigure their faces, so that they may appear to men that they are fasting. Truly I say to you, that they have already received their reward.

17 But you, when you fast, wash your face and anoint your head;

18 So that it may not appear to men that you are fasting, but to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret, he will reward you.

19 Do not lay up for yourselves treasures buried in the ground, a place where rust and moth destroy, and where thieves break through and steal.

20 But lay up for yourselves a treasure in heaven, where neither rust nor moth destroy, and where thieves do not break through and steal.

21 For where your treasure is, there also is your heart.

22 The eye is the lamp of the body; if therefore your eye be clear, your whole body is also lighted.

23 But if your eye is diseased, your whole body will be dark. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how much more will be your darkness.

24 No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and like the other; or he will honor one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (wealth).

25 For this reason, I say to you, Do not worry for your life, what you will eat, and what you will drink, nor for your body, what you will wear. Behold, is not life much more important than food, and the body than clothing?

26 Watch the birds of the sky, for they do not sow, neither do they harvest, nor gather into barns, and yet your Father in heaven feeds them. Are you not much more important than they?

27 Who is among you who by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

28 Why do you worry about clothing? Observe the wild flowers, how they grow; they do not get tired out, nor do they spin.

29 But I say to you, that not even Solomon with all of his glory was covered like one of them.

30 Now if God clothes in such fashion the grass of the field, which today is and tomorrow falls into the fireplace, is he not much more to you, O you of little faith?

31 Therefore do not worry or say, What will we eat, or what will we drink, or with what will we be clothed?

32 For worldly people seek after all these things. Your Father in heaven knows that all of these things are also necessary for you.

33 But you seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all of these things shall be added to you.

34 Therefore do not worry for tomorrow; for tomorrow will look after its own. Sufficient for each day, is its own trouble.

1 «Остерегайтесь совершать богоугодные поступки при людях, иначе не получите вознаграждения от вашего Отца Небесного.

2 Поэтому, когда подаёшь неимущему, не труби об этом, как делают лицемеры в синагогах и на улицах, чтобы люди похвалили их. Правду вам говорю: это единственная награда, которая будет дана им.

3 У тебя же, когда подаёшь неимущему, пусть даже твоя левая рука не ведает, что творит правая,

4 чтобы подаяние твоё было втайне. И тогда твой Отец, видящий тайное, вознаградит тебя».

5 «И когда молишься, не уподобляйся лицемерам, которые любят стоять в синагогах и на углах улиц и молиться напоказ перед людьми. Правду вам говорю: это единственная награда, которая будет дана им.

6 Ты же, когда молишься, скройся в отдалённой комнате и, закрыв плотно дверь, молись твоему Отцу, Который находится повсюду, и Он, видящий тайное, вознаградит тебя.

7 И когда молишься, не болтай напрасно как язычники, которые считают, что будут услышаны благодаря своему многословию.

8 Не уподобляйтесь им, потому что ваш Отец знает, в чём вы нуждаетесь, прежде чем вы попросите Его об этом.

9 А потому молитесь вот как: „Отец наш Небесный, пусть будет свято имя Твоё.

10 Пусть наступит Царство Твоё. Пусть исполнится воля Твоя на земле, как и на небе.

11 Пошли нам хлеб насущный на каждый день

12 и прости нам наши грехи, как мы простили тех, кто причинил нам зло.

13 Не подвергай нас искушению, но избавь нас от лукавого”. [Так как Тебе принадлежат и Царство, и сила, и слава вовеки. Аминь!]

14 Потому что если вы простите людей за их грехи, то и Отец ваш Небесный тоже простит вам.

15 Если же вы не простите тех, кто причинил вам зло, то и Отец ваш не простит ваши грехи».

16 «А когда поститесь, не уподобляйтесь лицемерам с унылыми лицами, потому что они принимают мрачный вид, чтобы люди видели, что они постятся. Правду вам говорю: это единственная награда, которая будет дана им.

17 Ты же, когда постишься, приведи себя в порядок и умой своё лицо,

18 чтобы не видели люди, что ты постишься, а только твой Отец, Который находится повсюду. И тогда Он, видящий тайное, вознаградит тебя за это».

19 «Не накапливайте сокровищ на земле, где тлен и ржавчина разрушают их и воры врываются и крадут.

20 Лучше копите себе сокровища на небе, где ничто: ни тлен, ни ржавчина — не уничтожит их, и куда воры не могут проникнуть и украсть.

21 Ведь где твоё сокровище, там и сердце твоё будет».

22 «Глаз — источник света для тела, и потому если твои глаза здоровы, то и всё тело полно света.

23 Но если твои глаза больны, то и всё тело полно тьмы! И если тьма твой единственный источник света, то как же ужасна эта тьма!»

24 «Никто не может служить двум господам, так как этот человек будет ненавидеть одного господина и любить другого или станет верным слугой одному и нерадивым другому. Вы не можете быть слугой и Богу, и деньгам».

25 «Поэтому говорю вам: не заботьтесь о том, что есть и что пить для поддержания вашей жизни, ни об одежде для вашего тела. Ведь жизнь значит больше пищи, а тело — одежды.

26 Посмотрите на птиц в небе! Они не сеют и не жнут, не собирают урожая, а ваш Отец Небесный кормит их. Разве вы не значите гораздо больше, чем они?

27 Да и кто из вас может волнением продлить свою жизнь хоть на час?

28 И зачем беспокоитесь об одежде? Посмотрите на полевые цветы, как они растут: они не трудятся и не шьют себе одежды.

29 Говорю вам, что даже Соломон со всем своим великолепием не носил таких одеяний, какие имеют они.

30 И если Бог с такой роскошью одевает полевые растения, которые сегодня есть, а завтра будут брошены в печь, то разве Он не оденет вас, маловеров, ещё лучше?

31 Так не беспокойтесь и не говорите: „Что нам есть?” — или: „Что нам пить?” — или: „Во что одеться?”

32 Язычники беспокоятся обо всём этом. Ваш же Отец Небесный знает все ваши нужды.

33 Заботьтесь прежде всего о Царстве Божьем и о том, что Бог требует, а тогда всё необходимое будет вам дано.

34 И не заботьтесь о завтрашнем дне, потому что завтрашний день принесёт с собой свои заботы. Каждый день полон своих забот».

7 And when you pray, do not repeat your words like the pagans, for they think that because of much talking they will be heard.	7 И когда молишься, не болтай напрасно как язычники, которые считают, что будут услышаны благодаря своему многословию.
8 Therefore, do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need, before you ask him.	8 Не уподобляйтесь им, потому что ваш Отец знает, в чём вы нуждаетесь, прежде чем вы попросите Его об этом.
9 Therefore pray in this manner: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be thy name.	9 А потому молитесь вот как: „Отец наш Небесный, пусть будет свято имя Твоё.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven so on earth.	10 Пусть наступит Царство Твоё. Пусть исполнится воля Твоя на земле, как и на небе.
11 Give us bread for our needs from day to day.	11 Пошли нам хлеб насущный на каждый день
12 And forgive us our offences, as we have forgiven our offenders;	12 и прости нам наши грехи, как мы простили тех, кто причинил нам зло.
13 And do not let us enter into temptation, but deliver us from error. Because thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.	13 Не подвергай нас искушению, но избавь нас от лукавого”. [Так как Тебе принадлежат и Царство, и сила, и слава вовеки. Аминь!]
14 For if you forgive men their faults, your Father in heaven will also forgive you.	14 Потому что если вы простите людей за их грехи, то и Отец ваш Небесный тоже простит вам.
15 But if you do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive even your faults.	15 Если же вы не простите тех, кто причинил вам зло, то и Отец ваш не простит ваши грехи».

Truly I say to you, that they have already received their reward.	16 «А когда поститесь, не уподобляйтесь лицемерам с унылыми лицами, потому что они принимают мрачный вид, чтобы люди видели, что они постятся. Правду вам говорю: это единственная награда, которая будет дана им.
17 But you, when you fast, wash your face and anoint your head;	17 Ты же, когда постишься, приведи себя в порядок и умой своё лицо,
18 So that it may not appear to men that you are fasting, but to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret, he will reward you.	18 чтобы не видели люди, что ты постишься, а только твой Отец, Который находится повсюду. И тогда Он, видящий тайное, вознаградит тебя за это».
19 Do not lay up for yourselves treasures buried in the ground, a place where rust and moth destroy, and where thieves break through and steal.	19 «Не накапливайте сокровищ на земле, где тлен и ржавчина разрушают их и воры врываются и крадут.
20 But lay up for yourselves a treasure in heaven, where neither rust nor moth destroy, and where thieves do not break through and steal.	20 Лучше копите себе сокровища на небе, где ничто: ни тлен, ни ржавчина — не уничтожит их, и куда воры не могут проникнуть и украсть.
21 For where your treasure is, there also is your heart.	21 Ведь где твоё сокровище, там и сердце твоё будет».
22 The eye is the lamp of the body; if therefore your eye be clear, your whole body is also lighted.	22 «Глаз — источник света для тела, и потому если твои глаза здоровы, то и всё тело полно света.
23 But if your eye is diseased, your whole body will be dark. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how much more will be your darkness.	23 Но если твои глаза больны, то и всё тело полно тьмы! И если тьма твой единственный источник света, то как же ужасна эта тьма!»
24 No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and like the other; or he will honor one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (wealth).	24 «Никто не может служить двум господам, так как этот человек будет ненавидеть одного господина и любить другого или станет верным слугой одному и нерадивым другому. Behold, is not life much more important than food, and the body than clothing?	25 «Поэтому говорю вам: не заботьтесь о том, что есть и что пить для поддержания вашей жизни, ни об одежде для вашего тела. Ведь жизнь значит больше пищи, а тело — одежды.
