Chapter 27

1 WHEN it was morning, the high priests and the elders of the people took counsel concerning Jesus, how to put him to death.

2 So they bound him, and took him and delivered him to Pilate the governor.

3 Then Judas the traitor, when he saw that Jesus was convicted, repented, and went away and brought back the same thirty pieces of silver to the high priests and the elders.

4 And he said, I have sinned, because I have betrayed innocent blood. But they said to him, What is that to us? You know better.

5 Then he threw the silver in the temple, and departed; and he went and hanged himself.

6 The high priests took the silver and said, It is not lawful to put it in the house of offerings, because it is the price of blood.

7 And they took counsel, and bought with it the potter's field, for a cemetery for strangers.

8 On this account that field was called The field of blood, to this day.

9 Then what was spoken by the prophet was fulfilled, who said, I took the thirty pieces of silver, the costly price which was bargained with the children of Israel.

10 And I gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me.

11 And Jesus stood before the governor; and the governor asked him and said to him, Are you the King of the Jews? Jesus said to him, You say that.

12 And while the chief priests and elders were accusing him, he gave no answer.

13 Then Pilate said to him, Do you not hear how much they testify against you?

14 But he did not answer him, not even a word; and because of this Pilate marvelled greatly.

15 Now on every feast day it was the custom of the governor to release one prisoner to the people, anyone whom they wanted.

16 They had a well-known prisoner, called Bar-Abbas, who was bound.

17 When they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, Whom do you want me to release to you? Bar-Abbas, or Jesus who is called the Christ?

18 For Pilate knew that because of envy they had delivered him.

19 When the governor was sitting on his judgment seat, his wife sent to him and said to him, Have nothing to do with that righteous man; for today I have suffered a great deal in my dream because of him.

20 But the high priests and the elders urged the people to ask for Bar-Abbas, and to destroy Jesus.

21 And the governor answered and said to them, Which of these two do you want me to release to you? They said, Bar-Abbas.

22 Pilate said to them, What shall I then do with Jesus who is called the Christ? They all said, Let him be crucified.

23 Pilate said to them, What evil has he done? But they cried out the more and said, Let him be crucified.

24 Now when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but that instead confusion was increasing, he took water and washed his hands before the people, and said, I am innocent of the blood of this righteous man; do as you please.

25 All the people then answered and said, Let his blood be on us and on our children.

26 Then he released to them Bar-Abbas, and had Jesus scourged with whips, and delivered to be crucified.

27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium, and the whole company gathered around him.

28 And they removed his clothes and put on him a scarlet robe.

29 And they wove a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they knelt on their knees before him, and they were mocking him and saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

30 And they spat in his face, and took the reed and struck him on his head.

31 And when they had mocked him, they took off the robe from him and put on him his own clothes, and took him away to be crucified.

32 And as they were going out, they found a man of Cyrene, whose name was Simon, whom they compelled to carry his cross.

33 And they came to a place which is called Golgotha, which is interpreted The Skull.

34 And they gave him to drink vinegar mixed with gall; and he tasted it, but he would not drink.

35 And when they had crucified him, they divided his clothes by casting lots.

36 And they were sitting there and watching him.

37 And they placed above his head in writing the reason for his death: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

38 And there were crucified with him two bandits, one on his right and one on his left.

39 And those who passed by blasphemed against him, nodding their heads,

40 And saying, O you who can tear down the temple and build it in three days, deliver yourself, if you are the Son of God, and come down from the cross.

41 The high priests likewise were mocking, together with the scribes, the elders and the Pharisees.

42 And they were saying, He saved others, but he cannot save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, so that we may see and believe in him.

43 He trusted in God; let him save him now, if he is pleased with him; for he said, I am God's Son.

44 The bandits also, who were crucified with him were reproaching him.

45 Now from the sixth hour, there was darkness over all the land, until the ninth hour.

46 And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice and said, Eli, Eli, lmana shabachthani! which means, My God, my God, for this I was kept! *

47 Some of the men who were standing by, when they heard it, said, This man has called for Elijah.

48 And immediately one of them ran and took a sponge and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.

49 But the rest said, Hush, let us see if Elijah will come to save him.

50 But Jesus again cried out with a loud voice, and gave up his breath.

51 And immediately the door curtains of the temple were rent in two, from the top to the bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks split;

52 And the tombs were opened; and the bodies of a great many saints who were sleeping in death rose up,

53 And they went out; and after his resurrection, they entered into the holy city, and appeared to a great many.

54 When the centurion and those who were with him watching Jesus, saw the earthquake and all that happened, they were very much frightened, and they said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

55 There were also many women there, who were looking from afar, those who had followed Jesus from Galilee, and who used to minister to him.

56 One of them was Mary of Magdala; and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

57 When evening came, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, whose name was Joseph, who was also a disciple of Jesus.

58 He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. And Pilate commanded that the body should be given to him.

59 So Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a shroud of fine linen,

60 And laid it in his own new tomb which was hewn in a rock; and they rolled a large stone, and placed it against the door of the tomb, and went away.

61 And there were there Mary of Magdala and the other Mary, who were sitting opposite the tomb.

62 The next day, which is after Friday, the high priests and the Pharisees together came to Pilate,

63 And they said to him, Our lord, we have just remembered that that deceiver used to say when he was alive, After three days I will rise again.

64 Now, therefore, command that precautions be taken at the tomb for three days. It is probable that his disciples may come and steal him at night, and then say to the people, He has risen from the dead; and the last deception will be worse than the first.

65 Pilate said to them, You have guards; go and take precautions as best you know.

66 So they went and kept a watch at the tomb, and together with the guards they sealed the stone.

1 На следующее утро все главные священники и старейшины народа собрали совет, на котором решили предать Иисуса смерти.

2 Связав, они отвели и передали Его правителю Пилату.

3 Когда Иуда, предавший Иисуса, увидел, что Его осудили, то раскаялся и возвратил тридцать серебреников главным священникам и старейшинам.

4 Он сказал: «Я согрешил, предав невинную кровь». Но они сказали: «Что нам до этого? Это твоя забота!»

5 Тогда он бросил серебряные монеты в храме, пошёл и повесился.

6 Главные священники же подобрали монеты и сказали: «Не по закону класть их в храмовую копилку, так как это — цена крови».

7 Посоветовавшись, они купили на эти деньги участок земли, называвшийся полем Горшечника, чтобы там хоронить чужестранцев.

8 По этой причине это поле и по сей день называется Кровавым полем.

9 Так исполнилось пророчество, сказанное Иеремией: «Они взяли тридцать серебреников, такую цену назначили люди Израиля за Его жизнь,

10 и отдали их за поле Горшечника, как указал мне Господь».

11 Когда Иисус предстал перед Пилатом, правитель спросил Его: «Ты ли Царь Иудейский?» Иисус ответил ему: «Ты прав говоря, что Я — Царь Иудейский».

12 А когда Его обвиняли главные священники и старейшины, то Он им ничего не отвечал.

13 Тогда Пилат сказал Иисусу: «Разве Ты не слышишь все эти обвинения против Тебя?»

14 Но Он не ответил ему ни на одно обвинение, так что правитель был весьма удивлён.

15 На праздник Пасхи правитель по обычаю отпускал одного из заключённых, за которого просил народ.

16 В то время в тюрьме был известный преступник по имени Варавва.

17 И когда толпа собралась, Пилат спросил у людей: «Кого вы хотите, чтобы я освободил: Варавву или Иисуса, называемого Христом?»

18 Пилат знал, что только из зависти главные священники и старейшины доставили Иисуса к нему.

19 В то время как Пилат заседал в суде, его жена прислала к нему слугу с таким сообщением: «Не осуждай этого Праведника, потому что прошлой ночью мне приснился сон про Него, и я очень встревожена».

20 Но главные священники и старейшины убедили толпу просить за Варавву, а Иисуса предать смерти.

21 Тогда правитель спросил их: «Кого из двоих вы хотите, чтобы я отпустил?» Они ответили: «Варавву».

22 Пилат спросил: «Что сделать мне с Иисусом, называемым Христом?» И они все закричали: «Пусть распнут Его!»

23 Пилат спросил: «Почему? Что Он сделал плохого?» Но они продолжали кричать ещё громче: «Пусть распнут Его!»

24 Тогда Пилат, видя, что он не сможет убедить народ и что может начаться бунт, взял воды и на глазах у толпы умыл руки, сказав: «Я неповинен в крови Этого Человека, решайте сами».

25 Народ ответил: «Пусть Его кровь падёт на нас и на наших детей!»

26 Затем Пилат отпустил Варавву, Иисуса же он приказал избить плетью и отвести на распятие.

27 Тогда солдаты Пилата отвели Иисуса во дворец правителя, и вокруг Него собрался весь полк.

28 Раздев Его донага, они надели на Него багровые одежды.

29 Солдаты свили из колючек венок, надели Ему на голову, дали в руки посох и, издеваясь над Иисусом, пали перед Ним на колени, говоря: «Приветствуем Тебя, Царь Иудейский!»

30 Они плевали в Него, а потом взяли посох из Его руки и стали бить Иисуса по голове.

31 Наиздевавшись вдоволь, они сняли с Христа багровые одежды, надели на Него Его собственную одежду и повели на распятие.

32 По дороге солдаты встретили одного киринеянина по имени Симон и заставили его нести крест Иисуса.

33 Когда они пришли к месту под названием Голгофа, что означает «Лобное место»,

34 то дали Иисусу выпить вина, смешанного с жёлчью. Он же, попробовав, отказался его пить.

35 Распяв Христа, они бросили между собой жребий, кому что достанется из Его одежды,

36 а потом сели и стали охранять Его.

37 У Него над головой солдаты прикрепили табличку со словами обвинения: «это Иисус, Царь Иудейский».

38 Одновременно с Ним были распяты два разбойника: один справа, а другой слева от Иисуса.

39 Проходившие мимо люди выкрикивали оскорбления, кивая в Его сторону

40 и говоря: «Эй, Ты, Который собирался разрушить храм и восстановить его в три дня, спаси же Себя. Если Ты Сын Божий, сойди с креста!»

41 Главные священники вместе с законоучителями и старейшинами тоже издевались над Иисусом, говоря:

42 «Он спасал других, а Себя спасти не может. Если Он действительно Царь израильский, так пусть теперь сойдёт с креста, и мы поверим в Него!

43 Он верит в Бога, так пусть же Бог спасёт Его теперь, если Он Ему угоден. Ведь Сам Он говорил: „Я — Сын Божий”».

44 И разбойники, распятые вместе с Ним, тоже осыпали Его оскорблениями.

45 В полдень на землю опустилась тьма и не рассеивалась до трёх часов.

46 А около трёх часов Иисус воскликнул громким голосом: «Эли, Эли, лема савахтани?» — что означает: «Боже Мой, Боже Мой! Почему же Ты покинул Меня?»

47 Некоторые из тех, кто стояли поблизости, услышав это, сказали: «Он взывает к Илии!»

48 И тут же один из них побежал, намочил губку в уксусе, надел её на палку и дал Ему пить.

49 Но остальные говорили: «Оставь Его в покое. Посмотрим, появится ли Илия, чтобы спасти Его?»

50 И ещё раз закричал Иисус громким голосом и испустил дух.

51 После Его смерти завеса храма разорвалась надвое: сверху донизу, и всколыхнулась земля, и раскололись камни,

52 и открылись гробницы, и воскресло множество усопших святых,

53 и, выйдя из своих гробниц после Его воскресения, они пришли в святой город и явились множеству людей.

54 Центурион и те, кто вместе с ним сторожил Иисуса, при виде землетрясения и всех других происшествий очень перепугались и сказали: «Воистину это был Сын Божий!»

55 За этим издалека наблюдали и многие женщины, которые пришли с Иисусом из Галилеи, чтобы прислуживать Ему.

56 Среди них были Мария Магдалина, а также Мария, мать Иакова и Иосифа, и мать сыновей Зеведея.

57 Когда наступил вечер, из Аримафеи пришёл один богач по имени Иосиф, который тоже был учеником Иисуса.

59 Иосиф взял тело, завернул его в чистый льняной покров

60 и положил в свою собственную новую гробницу, высеченную в скале. Привалив большой камень к входу в гробницу, он ушёл.

61 А Мария Магдалина и другая Мария сели напротив гробницы.

62 Всё это случилось в день Приготовления. На следующий день главные священники и фарисеи пришли к Пилату

63 и сказали: «Господин, мы вспомнили, что тот обманщик, когда был жив, сказал: „Через три дня Я воскресну”.

64 Поэтому прикажи хорошенько охранять гробницу до наступления третьего дня, чтобы не пришли Его ученики, не выкрали тело и не сказали всем: „Он воскрес из мёртвых”. Тогда последний обман будет хуже первого».

65 Пилат сказал им: «Возьмите с собой стражников и охраняйте гробницу как знаете».

66 Они пошли, наглухо закрыли гробницу, запечатали её и оставили там стражу.

14 But he did not answer him, not even a word; and because of this Pilate marvelled greatly.	14 Но Он не ответил ему ни на одно обвинение, так что правитель был весьма удивлён.

55 There were also many women there, who were looking from afar, those who had followed Jesus from Galilee, and who used to minister to him.	55 За этим издалека наблюдали и многие женщины, которые пришли с Иисусом из Галилеи, чтобы прислуживать Ему.

57 When evening came, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, whose name was Joseph, who was also a disciple of Jesus.	57 Когда наступил вечер, из Аримафеи пришёл один богач по имени Иосиф, который тоже был учеником Иисуса.
58 He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. And Pilate commanded that the body should be given to him.	58 Он пришёл к Пилату и попросил у него, чтобы тот отдал ему тело Иисуса. Пилат приказал, чтобы тело Иисуса отдали ему.

63 And they said to him, Our lord, we have just remembered that that deceiver used to say when he was alive, After three days I will rise again.	63 и сказали: «Господин, мы вспомнили, что тот обманщик, когда был жив, сказал: „Через три дня Я воскресну”.
64 Now, therefore, command that precautions be taken at the tomb for three days. It is probable that his disciples may come and steal him at night, and then say to the people, He has risen from the dead; and the last deception will be worse than the first.	64 Поэтому прикажи хорошенько охранять гробницу до наступления третьего дня, чтобы не пришли Его ученики, не выкрали тело и не сказали всем: „Он воскрес из мёртвых”. Тогда последний обман будет хуже первого».
65 Pilate said to them, You have guards; go and take precautions as best you know.	65 Пилат сказал им: «Возьмите с собой стражников и охраняйте гробницу как знаете».
66 So they went and kept a watch at the tomb, and together with the guards they sealed the stone.	66 Они пошли, наглухо закрыли гробницу, запечатали её и оставили там стражу.
