Jeremiah

Chapter 50

1 CONCERNING Babylon, the word that the LORD spoke against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.

2 Declare among the nations and publish and raise an ensign; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is fallen, Merodach is put to shame, her idols are confounded and her graven images are broken in pieces.

3 For out of the north there comes up a nation against her which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell in it; they shall flee, they shall depart, both man and beast.

4 In those days and in that time, says the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping and seeking the LORD their God.

5 They shall ask the way to Zion, with their faces towards it, saying, Come, let us join ourselves to the LORD in an everlasting covenant which shall not be forgotten.

6 My people have been like lost sheep; their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have scattered them on the mountains; they have gone from mountains to hills, they have forgotten their fold.

7 All who found them have devoured them; and their adversaries have said, We shall not spare them, because they have sinned against the LORD and against his righteous habitation; even the LORD, the hope of their families.

8 Flee from the midst of Babylon and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he-goats before the flocks.

9 For, behold, I will stir up and cause to come against Babylon a multitude of many nations from the north country; and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken; their arrows shall be as those of an expert archer; none shall return empty.

10 And the land of the Chaldeans shall be a spoil; all that plunder her shall be satisfied, says the LORD.

11 Because you were glad, because you rejoiced over the destruction of my heritage, you leaped for joy like fat heifers and you danced like the rams of the flock:

12 Your mother is exceedingly ashamed; she who bore you is confounded: behold, the last of the nations shall become wilderness, waste, and desolation.

13 Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate; every one who passes by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her wounds.

14 Set yourselves in array against Babylon round about; all you that know how to bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows; for she has sinned against the LORD.

15 Shout against her round about; she has surrendered, her foundations are fallen, her walls are demolished; for it is the vengeance of the LORD. Take vengeance upon her; as she has done to others, do so to her.

16 Cut off from Babylon both the sower and him that handles the sickle in the time of harvest; because of the fear of the oppressing sword, they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land.

17 Israel is a lost ewe; the lions have caused him to go astray; first the king of Assyria has devoured him; and at last this Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has inflicted a more grievous wound than the other.

18 Therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.

19 And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and on Mathnin and mount Ephraim and Gilead; and his soul shall be satisfied.

20 In those days and in that time, says the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found; for I will pardon those whom I reserve as a remnant.

21 Go up against the rebellious land, go up against it, and against its inhabitants; unsheath the sword and destroy them, says the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded you.

22 A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.

23 How is the mighty one of the whole earth defeated and taken! How has Babylon become an amazement among the nations!

24 Babylon has stumbled and she is taken; she did not know that she stood up against the LORD.

25 The LORD has opened his armory and brought forth weapons of his indignation; for this is the work of the LORD God of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans.

26 Come against her from round about her, open her gates; leave her as a naked woman and destroy her utterly; let nothing be left of her.

27 Destroy her; and let all her offspring be delivered to the slaughter; woe to them! for their day is come, the time of their punishment.

28 The voice of those who flee and escape from the land of Babylon to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple.

29 Call together great armies against Babylon: all who know how to bend the bow shoot against her round about; let none be spared; recompense her according to her works; according to all that she had done, do to her; for she has ventured against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.

30 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all her men of war shall be silenced on that day.

31 Behold, I am against you, O boaster, says the LORD God of hosts; for your day has come, the time of your punishment.

32 And the boaster shall be overthrown and fall, and none shall raise him up; and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.

33 Thus says the LORD of hosts: The children of Israel and the children of Judah are oppressed together; and all who took them captive have held them fast; they refused to let them go.

34 Their Saviour is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name; he shall thoroughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth, and disquiet all the inhabitants of Babylon.

35 A sword is upon the Chaldeans, says the LORD, and upon all the inhabitants of Babylon and upon her princes and upon her wise men.

36 A sword is upon her soothsayers, and they shall be dismayed; a sword is upon her mighty men, and they shall be defeated.

37 A sword is upon her horses and upon her chariots and upon all sojourners that are in the midst of her; and they shall become cowards; a sword is upon her treasures, and they shall be plundered.

38 A drought is upon her waters, and they shall be dried up; for she is the land of the makers of images, who boast in their idols.

39 Therefore screech-owls shall dwell in her, and ostriches shall inhabit her; and she shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall she be inhabited throughout generations.

40 She shall become like Sodom and Gomorrah when God destroyed them and their inhabitants; so no man shall dwell there, neither shall any son of man live there.

41 Behold, a people is coming from the north, a great nation, and many kings shall be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

42 They are armed with bows and lances; they are cruel and have no mercy; their voices are like the roaring of the sea, and they ride upon horses, arrayed as mighty men to the battle against you, O daughter of Babylon.

43 The king of Babylon has heard the report of them, and his hands weakened; anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.

44 Behold, the enemy shall come up like a lion from the thickets of Jordan against the folds of Athan; and I will make the people suddenly run away from Babylon; and I will charge young warriors against her; for who is like me? Or who shall assail me? Or what leader is there who can prevail against me?

45 Therefore, hear the counsel of the LORD which he has taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he has proposed against the land of the Chaldeans; for they shall shear even the least of the flock, and they shall make their folds a desolation upon them.

46 At the noise of the capture of Babylon the earth is moved and her wailing is heard among the nations.

1 Эта весть от Господа — о Вавилоне и его народе, которую Господь передал через пророка Иеремию:

2 «Возвести это всем народам, флаг подними и весть объяви, скажи, ничего не скрывая: „Вавилон будет пленён, будет бог Вил опозорен, и перепуган бог Меродах. Идолы вавилонские будут посрамлены, его ничтожные боги устрашатся”.

3 На Вавилон нагрянут народы с севера и в пустыню его превратят. Никто не будет там жить, и люди, и животные — все поднимутся и уйдут оттуда».

4 Господь говорит: «Тогда люди Иудеи и Израиля будут вместе плакать, а затем вместе отправятся на поиски Господа Бога,

5 и будут они спрашивать, как пройти на Сион. И, двинувшись в ту сторону, скажут: „Пойдём и воссоединимся с Господом, и вечный с Ним заключим союз, который мы не забудем никогда”.

6 Люди Мои были словно заблудшие овцы, их пастухи вели неправильной дорогой. Они разбрелись по холмам и горам и забыли место своего отдыха.

7 Каждый встречный им боль причинял, при этом оправдываясь: „Мы невиновны, потому что эти люди согрешили перед Богом”. Господь был их истинным пристанищем, Господь был Богом, Которому доверяли их отцы.

8 Бегите из Вавилона, оставьте его земли, будьте козлам подобны, идущим впереди стада.

9 Я приведу с севера много разных народов, которые будут готовы завоевать Вавилон. И пленят Вавилон северяне, много стрел в него выпустят, и те стрелы будут словно воины, которые не возвращаются с пустыми руками с войны.

10 Всё богатство Халдеи станет добычей врага, и солдаты возьмут всё, что захотят». Так говорит Господь:

11 «Ты, Вавилон, счастлив и радости полон, потому что Мою ты землю захватил. Ты танцуешь словно телёнок, попавший на луг, укрытый молодой травой; твой смех подобен счастливому ржанию коней.

12 Теперь твоей матери будет стыдно за то, что она тебя родила. Вавилон среди всех народов будет самым последним, земля его станет пустыней сухой.

13 Свой гнев Господь покажет, поэтому в живых там не останется никого. Вавилон опустеет, и каждый человек, идущий мимо, будет испуган и головою будет качать, увидев, как Вавилон разрушен.

14 Готовьтесь к войне с Вавилоном, лучники, пустите все стрелы в его сторону, не жалейте стрел, потому что Вавилон согрешил пред Богом.

15 Солдаты, осаждавшие Вавилон, о победе кричите. Пал Вавилон, сдался, рухнули башни его. Господь даёт Вавилону заслуженное наказание. И вы накажите его: все народы, творите с ним то, что с другими народами сделал Вавилон.

16 Не позволяйте вавилонянам сеять и убирать урожай. Много людей пленила армия Вавилона, но теперь каждый пленный вернётся домой к своему народу.

17 Израиль подобен овечьему стаду, разбросанному по земле и спасающему свою жизнь ото львов. Первый лев — царь Ассирии, последний — Навуходоносор, царь Вавилона, который кости Израиля раскрошил».

18 Поэтому Господь Всемогущий, Бог Израиля, говорит: «Я скоро накажу царя Вавилона и царство его, как Я наказал прежде ассирийского царя.

19 Я Израиль верну на его пастбища, и он будет пастись у горы Кармел и в земле Васан; он будет есть и насытится на холмах Ефрема и в Галааде».

20 Господь говорит: «В это время люди будут стараться найти повод, чтобы обвинить Иудею, но безгрешна она будет, поскольку Я спасу всех тех, кто в Иудеи выжил, и все грехи их прощу».

21 Господь говорит: «Нападайте на землю Мирафаима, не щадите людей, живущих в Пекоте, убейте и истребите их! Сделайте всё, как Я велю!

22 Грохот битвы и великого разрушения повсюду слышен.

23 Вавилон назывался „молотом всей земли”, но теперь этот „молот” разбит! Нет больше страны на земле, которая была бы разрушена подобно Вавилону!

24 Я расставил для тебя сети, Вавилон, и ты попался в них, того не ожидая. Вавилон, ты боролся с Богом, и потому ты теперь пленён.

25 Господь Своё хранилище открыл и взял орудие гнева Своего, потому что Господь, Бог Всемогущий, должен исполнить всё, что задумал с землёй Халдейской.

26 Издалека придите на Вавилон, взломайте все его житницы, полностью уничтожьте его народ, никого не щадите, а мёртвых снопами сложите.

27 Всех юношей Вавилона убейте, словно быков заколите их, потому что пришёл день смерти, наступил день наказания их.

28 Люди бегут из Вавилона, спасаются оттуда бегством. Они приходят к Сиону и каждому говорят о заслуженном наказании Вавилона. Вавилон разрушил храм Господа, и поэтому Бог мстит Вавилону за него.

29 Созовите всех лучников, пусть они выпускают стрелы и окружают город, чтобы никто не убежал из него. Воздайте ему по делам его, сделай с ним то, что он сделал с другими народами. Бога не чтил Вавилон, грубо обходясь со святынями Израиля. Так накажите Вавилон!

30 Погибнут на улицах юноши, полягут все его воины в этот день». Так говорит Господь.

31 «Ты слишком горд, Вавилон, и поэтому Я против тебя. — Господь, Бог Всемогущий, говорит. — Я против тебя, и время для наказания пришло.

32 Споткнётся и упадёт гордец Вавилон, и никто ему встать не поможет. Я огонь в его городах разожгу, и всех тот огонь поглотит».

33 Господь Всемогущий говорит: «Народы Израиля и Иудеи в рабстве, потому что их враг захватил и не хочет отпускать,

34 но Господь их вернёт назад. Его имя — Господь Всемогущий, Он защитит людей Своих и успокоит их землю, но жителям Вавилона Он не дарует покоя».

35 Господь говорит: «Меч, порази живущих в Вавилоне, властителей и мудрецов его.

36 Меч, покарай их священников, чтобы стали они глупцами, и наведи ужас на вавилонских воинов.

37 Меч, коней с колесницами посеки, покарай наёмников, напугай их как женщин. Меч, уничтожь сокровища Вавилона, пусть их разграбят.

38 Меч, порази воды Вавилона, чтобы высохли они. У Вавилона много идолов, по которым видно, что эти люди безумны, и их постигнет горе.

39 Вавилон никогда больше не будет населён людьми. Шакалы, страусы и различные звери пустыни будут там обитать, но людей там больше никогда не будет.

40 Господь до основания разрушил Содом и Гоморру, а также все города вокруг них. Та же участь постигнет и Вавилон, и никто больше не поселится в нём.

41 Смотрите, вот идёт народ с севера, сыны великих народов, много царей собираются вместе из разных краёв.

42 Их войско вооружено копьями и луками, их солдаты жестоки, нет милосердия в них. Быстро они скачут, голоса их словно рокот моря, они готовы к битве с тобой, Вавилон.

43 Царь Вавилона слышал о них прежде. Испуган он, и руки его опустились, он страхом мучим словно женщина во время родов».

44 Господь говорит: «Порою выходит лев из густых кустов, растущих на берегах Иордана, и направляется на пастбища, где пасутся стада. Я как лев буду преследовать Вавилон. Кого Мне выбрать, чтобы он смог это совершить? Нет подобного Мне, никто не решится Мне противостоять! Нет пастуха, который может прогнать Меня! Я буду преследовать Вавилон».

45 Вот что Господь намерен сделать с Вавилоном и жителями его: «Враги уведут малых из стада его, пастбища его опустеют и будут безмолвными.

46 Вся земля содрогнётся от падения Вавилона и все народы услышат о его разрушении».

8 Flee from the midst of Babylon and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he-goats before the flocks.	8 Бегите из Вавилона, оставьте его земли, будьте козлам подобны, идущим впереди стада.

И пленят Вавилон северяне, много стрел в него выпустят, и те стрелы будут словно воины, которые не возвращаются с пустыми руками с войны.
10 And the land of the Chaldeans shall be a spoil; all that plunder her shall be satisfied, says the LORD.	10 Всё богатство Халдеи станет добычей врага, и солдаты возьмут всё, что захотят». Так говорит Господь:
11 Because you were glad, because you rejoiced over the destruction of my heritage, you leaped for joy like fat heifers and you danced like the rams of the flock:	11 «Ты, Вавилон, счастлив и радости полон, потому что Мою ты землю захватил. Ты танцуешь словно телёнок, попавший на луг, укрытый молодой травой; твой смех подобен счастливому ржанию коней.
12 Your mother is exceedingly ashamed; she who bore you is confounded: behold, the last of the nations shall become wilderness, waste, and desolation.	12 Теперь твоей матери будет стыдно за то, что она тебя родила. Вавилон среди всех народов будет самым последним, земля его станет пустыней сухой.
13 Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate; every one who passes by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her wounds.	13 Свой гнев Господь покажет, поэтому в живых там не останется никого. Вавилон опустеет, и каждый человек, идущий мимо, будет испуган и головою будет качать, увидев, как Вавилон разрушен.
14 Set yourselves in array against Babylon round about; all you that know how to bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows; for she has sinned against the LORD.	14 Готовьтесь к войне с Вавилоном, лучники, пустите все стрелы в его сторону, не жалейте стрел, потому что Вавилон согрешил пред Богом.
15 Shout against her round about; she has surrendered, her foundations are fallen, her walls are demolished; for it is the vengeance of the LORD. Take vengeance upon her; as she has done to others, do so to her.	15 Солдаты, осаждавшие Вавилон, о победе кричите. Пал Вавилон, сдался, рухнули башни его. Господь даёт Вавилону заслуженное наказание. И вы накажите его: все народы, творите с ним то, что с другими народами сделал Вавилон.
16 Cut off from Babylon both the sower and him that handles the sickle in the time of harvest; because of the fear of the oppressing sword, they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land.	16 Не позволяйте вавилонянам сеять и убирать урожай. Много людей пленила армия Вавилона, но теперь каждый пленный вернётся домой к своему народу.
17 Israel is a lost ewe; the lions have caused him to go astray; first the king of Assyria has devoured him; and at last this Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has inflicted a more grievous wound than the other.	17 Израиль подобен овечьему стаду, разбросанному по земле и спасающему свою жизнь ото львов. Первый лев — царь Ассирии, последний — Навуходоносор, царь Вавилона, который кости Израиля раскрошил».
18 Therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.	18 Поэтому Господь Всемогущий, Бог Израиля, говорит: «Я скоро накажу царя Вавилона и царство его, как Я наказал прежде ассирийского царя.
19 And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and on Mathnin and mount Ephraim and Gilead; and his soul shall be satisfied.	19 Я Израиль верну на его пастбища, и он будет пастись у горы Кармел и в земле Васан; он будет есть и насытится на холмах Ефрема и в Галааде».

21 Go up against the rebellious land, go up against it, and against its inhabitants; unsheath the sword and destroy them, says the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded you.	21 Господь говорит: «Нападайте на землю Мирафаима, не щадите людей, живущих в Пекоте, убейте и истребите их! Сделайте всё, как Я велю!
22 A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.	22 Грохот битвы и великого разрушения повсюду слышен.
23 How is the mighty one of the whole earth defeated and taken! How has Babylon become an amazement among the nations!	23 Вавилон назывался „молотом всей земли”, но теперь этот „молот” разбит! Нет больше страны на земле, которая была бы разрушена подобно Вавилону!
24 Babylon has stumbled and she is taken; she did not know that she stood up against the LORD.	24 Я расставил для тебя сети, Вавилон, и ты попался в них, того не ожидая. Вавилон, ты боролся с Богом, и потому ты теперь пленён.

26 Come against her from round about her, open her gates; leave her as a naked woman and destroy her utterly; let nothing be left of her.	26 Издалека придите на Вавилон, взломайте все его житницы, полностью уничтожьте его народ, никого не щадите, а мёртвых снопами сложите.
27 Destroy her; and let all her offspring be delivered to the slaughter; woe to them! for their day is come, the time of their punishment.	27 Всех юношей Вавилона убейте, словно быков заколите их, потому что пришёл день смерти, наступил день наказания их.
28 The voice of those who flee and escape from the land of Babylon to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple.	28 Люди бегут из Вавилона, спасаются оттуда бегством. Они приходят к Сиону и каждому говорят о заслуженном наказании Вавилона. Вавилон разрушил храм Господа, и поэтому Бог мстит Вавилону за него.

Воздайте ему по делам его, сделай с ним то, что он сделал с другими народами. Бога не чтил Вавилон, грубо обходясь со святынями Израиля. Так накажите Вавилон!
30 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all her men of war shall be silenced on that day.	30 Погибнут на улицах юноши, полягут все его воины в этот день». Так говорит Господь.
31 Behold, I am against you, O boaster, says the LORD God of hosts; for your day has come, the time of your punishment.	31 «Ты слишком горд, Вавилон, и поэтому Я против тебя. — Господь, Бог Всемогущий, говорит. — Я против тебя, и время для наказания пришло.
32 And the boaster shall be overthrown and fall, and none shall raise him up; and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.	32 Споткнётся и упадёт гордец Вавилон, и никто ему встать не поможет. Я огонь в его городах разожгу, и всех тот огонь поглотит».
33 Thus says the LORD of hosts: The children of Israel and the children of Judah are oppressed together; and all who took them captive have held them fast; they refused to let them go.	33 Господь Всемогущий говорит: «Народы Израиля и Иудеи в рабстве, потому что их враг захватил и не хочет отпускать,
34 Their Saviour is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name; he shall thoroughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth, and disquiet all the inhabitants of Babylon.	34 но Господь их вернёт назад. Его имя — Господь Всемогущий, Он защитит людей Своих и успокоит их землю, но жителям Вавилона Он не дарует покоя».
35 A sword is upon the Chaldeans, says the LORD, and upon all the inhabitants of Babylon and upon her princes and upon her wise men.	35 Господь говорит: «Меч, порази живущих в Вавилоне, властителей и мудрецов его.
36 A sword is upon her soothsayers, and they shall be dismayed; a sword is upon her mighty men, and they shall be defeated.	36 Меч, покарай их священников, чтобы стали они глупцами, и наведи ужас на вавилонских воинов.
37 A sword is upon her horses and upon her chariots and upon all sojourners that are in the midst of her; and they shall become cowards; a sword is upon her treasures, and they shall be plundered.	37 Меч, коней с колесницами посеки, покарай наёмников, напугай их как женщин. Меч, уничтожь сокровища Вавилона, пусть их разграбят.
38 A drought is upon her waters, and they shall be dried up; for she is the land of the makers of images, who boast in their idols.	38 Меч, порази воды Вавилона, чтобы высохли они. У Вавилона много идолов, по которым видно, что эти люди безумны, и их постигнет горе.
39 Therefore screech-owls shall dwell in her, and ostriches shall inhabit her; and she shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall she be inhabited throughout generations.	39 Вавилон никогда больше не будет населён людьми. Шакалы, страусы и различные звери пустыни будут там обитать, но людей там больше никогда не будет.
40 She shall become like Sodom and Gomorrah when God destroyed them and their inhabitants; so no man shall dwell there, neither shall any son of man live there.	40 Господь до основания разрушил Содом и Гоморру, а также все города вокруг них. Та же участь постигнет и Вавилон, и никто больше не поселится в нём.
41 Behold, a people is coming from the north, a great nation, and many kings shall be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.	41 Смотрите, вот идёт народ с севера, сыны великих народов, много царей собираются вместе из разных краёв.
42 They are armed with bows and lances; they are cruel and have no mercy; their voices are like the roaring of the sea, and they ride upon horses, arrayed as mighty men to the battle against you, O daughter of Babylon.	42 Их войско вооружено копьями и луками, их солдаты жестоки, нет милосердия в них. Быстро они скачут, голоса их словно рокот моря, они готовы к битве с тобой, Вавилон.
43 The king of Babylon has heard the report of them, and his hands weakened; anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.	43 Царь Вавилона слышал о них прежде. Испуган он, и руки его опустились, он страхом мучим словно женщина во время родов».
44 Behold, the enemy shall come up like a lion from the thickets of Jordan against the folds of Athan; and I will make the people suddenly run away from Babylon; and I will charge young warriors against her; for who is like me? Or who shall assail me? Or what leader is there who can prevail against me?	44 Господь говорит: «Порою выходит лев из густых кустов, растущих на берегах Иордана, и направляется на пастбища, где пасутся стада. Я как лев буду преследовать Вавилон. Кого Мне выбрать, чтобы он смог это совершить? Нет подобного Мне, никто не решится Мне противостоять! Нет пастуха, который может прогнать Меня! Я буду преследовать Вавилон».
45 Therefore, hear the counsel of the LORD which he has taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he has proposed against the land of the Chaldeans; for they shall shear even the least of the flock, and they shall make their folds a desolation upon them.	45 Вот что Господь намерен сделать с Вавилоном и жителями его: «Враги уведут малых из стада его, пастбища его опустеют и будут безмолвными.
46 At the noise of the capture of Babylon the earth is moved and her wailing is heard among the nations.	46 Вся земля содрогнётся от падения Вавилона и все народы услышат о его разрушении».
