Chapter 18

1 THEN the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.

2 And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes which had not yet received their inheritance.

3 And Joshua said to the children of Israel, How long will you be backward about going in and possessing the land which the LORD God of your fathers has given you?

4 Choose for yourselves three men from each tribe; and I will send them, and they shall rise and go through the land, and survey and describe it according to their inheritance; and they shall come again to me.

5 And they shall divide the land into seven parts; Judah shall remain in their territory on the south, and the house of Joseph shall remain in their territory on the north.

6 And you shall therefore map out the land into seven parts, and then bring the map here, and I will cast lots for you here before the LORD our God.

7 But the Levites have no part among you; for the priesthood of the LORD is their inheritance; and Gad and Reuben and half the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan to the east, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave them.

8 And the men arose and went away; and Joshua charged those who went to map the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and map it, and come again here to me, that I may cast lots for you before the LORD in Shiloh.

9 And the men went and passed through the land, and mapped it by towns into seven parts on a scroll, and came again to Joshua at the city of Shiloh.

10 And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the LORD; and there Joshua divided the land to the children of Israel into districts.

11 And the lot of the tribe of Benjamin came up according to their families; and the territory of their inheritance came forth between the children of Judah and the children of Joseph.

12 And their border on the north side was from the Jordan; and the border went up to the side of Jericho on the north side, and went up through the mountain westward; and the extreme limits thereof were at the wilderness of Beth-aon.

13 And the border went over from thence toward Luz, to the side of Luz, that is Beth-el, southward; then the border descended to Ataroth-adar, upon the mountain that lies south of lower Beth-hauran.

14 And the border extended to the side of the sea southward, from the mountain that lies before Beth-hauran southward; and the limits thereof were at Koriath-baal, which is Koriath-narin, a city of the children of Judah: this is the sea side.

15 And the southern boundary was from the end of Koriath-narin, and the border went out to the sea, and went out to the fountain of waters of Naphtali:

16 Then the border descended to the end of the mountain that lies before the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is in the valley of the Giants on the north, and went down to the valley of the son of Hinnom, to the side of the Jebusites on the south, then descended to En-dogel,

17 And was drawn from the north, and went to the En-shemesh, and thence towards Galilee, which is opposite the ascent of Ramin, then descended to Leban, and Bohan which belonged to the son of Reuben,

18 And passed along towards the side which is opposite the plain northward, and went down to the plain;

19 Then the border passed along to the side of Beth-hoglah northward; and the limits of the border were at the northern bay of the Salt Sea at the side of the Jordan southward; this was the south border.

20 And the Jordan was its border on the east side. This was the inheritance of the children of Benjamin, by the borders thereof round about, according to their families.

21 Now the cities of the tribe of the children of Benjamin according to their families were Jericho, Beth-hoglah, Amak, and Keziz,

22 Beth-arabah, Zemaraim, Beth-el,

23 Avin, Parah, Ophrah,

24 Chephar-aomka, Ophli, and Gaba; fourteen cities with their villages;

25 Gibeon, Ramtha, Beeroth,

26 Mizpah, Chepirah, Mozah,

27 Rakim, Repeel, Taralah,

28 Zelah, Geberah, and Jebusi, that is, Jerusalem, Gibeath, and Koriathaim; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the children of Benjamin according to their families.

4 Schaffet euch1980 aus jeglichem Stamm7626 drei7969 Männer582, daß6310 ich sie3789 sende7971, und sie sich aufmachen und durchs Land776 gehen935 und beschreiben es5159 nach ihren Erbteilen und kommen6965 zu3051 mir.

5 Teilet das Land in sieben7651 Teile2505. Juda3063 soll bleiben auf5975 seiner Grenze1366 von Mittag5045 her, und2506 das Haus1004 Joseph3130 soll bleiben auf5975 seiner Grenze1366 von Mitternacht6828 her.

6 Ihr aber beschreibet das Land776 der sieben7651 Teile und2506 bringet sie3789 zu mir6440 hieher, so will935 ich euch das Los1486 werfen3384 vor dem HErrn3068, unserm GOtt430.

7 Denn die Leviten3881 haben kein Teil2506 unter7130 euch, sondern das Priestertum3550 des HErrn3068 ist3947 ihr Erbteil5159. Gad1410 aber und Ruben7205 und der halbe2677 Stamm7626 Manasse4519 haben ihr Teil genommen jenseit5676 des Jordans3383 gegen4217 dem Morgen, das ihnen Mose4872, der Knecht5650 des HErrn3068, gegeben5414 hat.

8 Da machten sich die Männer582 auf6965, daß sie3789 hingingen. Und Josua3091 gebot6680 ihnen, da sie3789 hin3212 wollten gehen3212, das Land776 zu beschreiben, und sprach559: Gehet1980 hin und durchwandelt das Land776 und beschreibet es und kommt wieder7725 zu mir6440, daß ich euch1980 hie das Los1486 werfe7993 vor dem HErrn3068 zu Silo7887.

9 Also gingen3212 die Männer582 hin und2506 durchzogen das Land776 und beschrieben3789 es auf einen Brief5612 nach den Städten5892 in5674 sieben7651 Teile; und kamen935 zu Josua3091 ins Lager4264 gen Silo7887.

10 Da warf7993 Josua3091 das776 Los1486 über sie zu Silo7887 vor dem HErrn3068 und3091 teilete daselbst das Land2505 aus unter6440 die Kinder1121 Israel3478, einem jeglichen sein Teil4256.

11 Und das Los1486 des Stamms der Kinder1121 Benjamin1144 fiel nach ihren Geschlechtern4940, und die Grenze1366 ihres Loses ging5927 aus3318 zwischen den Kindern1121 Juda3063 und den Kindern1121 Joseph3130.

12 Und1366 ihre Grenze1366 war an5927 der Ecke3802 gegen Mitternacht6828 vom Jordan3383 an und6828 gehet herauf5927 an der Seite6285 Jerichos3405 von mitternachtwärts; und8444 kommt aufs Gebirge2022 gegen abendwärts3220 und gehet aus an der Wüste4057 Beth-Aven1007;

13 und1366 gehet5674 von dannen gen Lus3870, an der Seite3802 her an Lus3870 gegen mittagwärts5045, das ist Bethel, und1366 kommt hinab3381 gen Atharoth-Adar5853 an dem Berge2022, der vom Mittag5045 liegt an dem niedern Beth-Horon8481.

14 Danach neiget sie sich und1366 lenket sich um5437 zur Ecke6285 des Abends gegen Mittag5045 von dem Berge2022, der vor6440 Beth-Horon1032 gegen mittagwärts5045 liegt, und8444 endet sich an Kiriath-Baal7154, das ist Kiriath-Jearim7157, die Stadt5892 der Kinder1121 Juda3063; das ist die Ecke6285 gegen Abend3220.

15 Aber die4325 Ecke6285 gegen Mittag5045 ist von7097 Kiriath-Jearim7157 an und1366 gehet aus3318 gegen Abend3220 und kommt3318 hinaus zum Wasserbrunnen4599 Nephthoah;

16 und1366 gehet herab3381 an des Berges2022 Ende7097, der vor6440 dem Tal1516 des Sohns Hinnoms2011 liegt, welches im Grunde Raphaim gegen Mitternacht6828 liegt; und gehet herab3381 durchs Tal6010 Hinnom2011 an der Seite3802 der Jebusiter am Mittag5045 und kommt hinab3381 zum Brunnen Rogel5883;

17 und6828 zeucht sich8388 von3318 mitternachtwärts und1121 kommt3318 hinaus gen En-Semes5885 und kommt hinaus zu den Haufen, die gegen5227 Adumim hinauf4608 liegen, und kommt herab3381 zum Stein68 Bohen, des Sohns Rubens7205;

18 und gehet5674 zur Seite3802 hin neben4136 dem Gefilde6160, das gegen Mitternacht6828 liegt, und kommt hinab3381 aufs Gefilde6160;

19 und1366 gehet5674 an der Seite3802 Beth-Haglas, die gegen Mitternacht6828 liegt, und1366 ist sein Ende8444 an der Zunge3956 des Salzmeers4417 gegen Mitternacht6828 an dem Ort7097 des Jordans3383 gegen Mittag5045. Das ist die Mittagsgrenze.

20 Aber1379 die Ecke gegen Morgen6924 soll der Jordan3383 enden6285. Das ist das Erbteil5159 der Kinder1121 Benjamin1144 in ihren Grenzen1367 umher5439 unter ihren Geschlechtern4940.
