Chapter 16

1 AND the lot of the descendants of Joseph fell from the Jordan by Jericho to the waters of Jericho on the east, into the wilderness that goes up from Jericho to mount Beth-el,

2 And goes out from Beth-el to Luz, and then passes along to the border of Ebra and Ataroth,

3 And goes down westward to the border of Palta, as far as the border of Beth-hauran, the lower, then to Gadar; and its limits extended to the sea.

4 So the descendants of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, received their inheritance.

5 And the border of the descendants of Ephraim according to their families was thus: the boundary of their inheritance was Ataroth and Addar, as far as Beth-hauran, the upper;

6 Then the border went westward to the northern portion; after which the border turned eastward below Shiloh, and passed by it on the east of Jaloh;

7 And it went down from Jaloh to Ataroth and Jagrath and Pagar, and came to Jericho, and went out of Tappuah to the Jordan;

8 And the border went out westward to the river Kabah; and the limits thereof were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the descendants of Ephraim by their families.

9 And the cities which were set apart for the descendants of Ephraim were within the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.

10 And they did not destroy the Canaanites that dwelt in Gadar; so the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites to this day, but they were brought into subjection, and they pay tribute.

2 und kommt von3318 Bethel heraus gen Lus3870 und gehet5674 durch die Grenze1366 Archi-Atharoths;

3 und zeucht sich hernieder3381 gegen abendwärts3220 zu der Grenze1366 Japhletis bis an die Grenze1366 des niedern Beth-Horon1032 und bis gen Gaser; und das Ende8444 ist am Meer3220.

4 Das haben5157 zum Erbteil genommen die Kinder1121 Josephs3130, Manasse4519 und Ephraim669.

5 Die Grenze1366 der Kinder1121 Ephraims669 unter ihren Geschlechtern4940, ihres Erbteils5159 von aufgangwärts4217, war Atharoth-Adar5853 bis gen obern5945 Beth-Horon1032;

6 und1366 gehet5674 aus3318 gegen4217 Abend3220 bei Michmethath4366, die gegen4217 Mitternacht6828 liegt; daselbst lenket sie sich5437 herum gegen den Aufgang der Stadt Thaenath-Silo8387 und1366 gehet da durch von aufgangwärts gen Janoha3239;

7 und kommt herab3381 von Janoha3239 gen Atharoth und Naaratha und stößt an6293 Jericho3405 und gehet aus3318 am Jordan3383.

8 Von Thapuah gehet sie gegen abendwärts3220 gen Nahal-Kana7071; und1366 ihr Ende8444 ist am Meer3220. Das ist das Erbteil5159 des Stamms der Kinder1121 Ephraims669 unter3212 ihren Geschlechtern4940.

9 Und5892 alle Grenzstädte samt ihren Dörfern2691 der Kinder1121 Ephraims669 waren gemenget unter8432 dem Erbteil5159 der Kinder1121 Manasses4519.

10 Und5647 sie3427 vertrieben3423 die3427 Kanaaniter3669 nicht, die zu Gaser wohneten. Also blieben die Kanaaniter3669 unter7130 Ephraim669 bis auf diesen Tag3117 und wurden zinsbar4522.
