Chapter 52

1 ZEDEKIAH was twenty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

2 And he did that which was evil before the LORD. according to all that Jehoiakim had done.

3 Because of these evils the anger of the LORD came against Jerusalem and against Judah till he had cast them out from his presence, and King Zedekiah rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

4 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem and encamped against it and built forts against it round about.

5 So the city was besieged till the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

6 And in the fifth month, on the ninth day of the month, the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

7 Then the city was breached, and all the men of war fled and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden (now the Chaldeans were round about the city), and they went by the way of the plain.

8 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook Zedekiah in the plain of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.

9 Then they took the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Diblath in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.

10 And the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes; he slew also all the princes of Judah in Diblath.

11 Then he put out the eyes of Zedekiah and bound him in chains, and the king of Babylon carried him to Babylon and put him in prison till the day of his death.

12 Now in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan, the general of the guard, came and stood before the king of Babylon to serve him in Jerusalem;

13 And he burned the house of the LORD and the house of the king of Judah and all the houses of Jerusalem and all the houses of the princes he burned with fire;

14 And all the army of the Chaldeans that were with the general of the guard broke down all the walls of Jerusalem round about.

15 Then Nebuzaradan, the general of the guard, carried away captive some of the poor of the people and the rest of the people who were left in the city and those who had fled to the king of Babylon and the rest of the people of the land.

16 But Nebuzaradan, the general of the guard, left some of the poor of the land for vine-dressers and for other work.

17 And the pillars of brass and the wine vessels and the bronze sea that were in the house of the LORD the Chaldeans broke in pieces, and they took all the brass of them and carried it to Babylon.

18 The pots, also, and the caldrons and the hanging pots and the sprinklers and the spoons and all the vessels of brass with which they ministered they took away.

19 And the braziers and the censers and the bowls and the pots and the candlesticks, and the spoons and the cups which were made of gold and of silver the general of the guard took away.

20 The two bronze pillars, one sea, the twelve bronze bulls which were under the sea, which King Solomon had made for the house of the LORD; the brass of all these vessels was without weight.

21 And as for the pillars, the height of one pillar was eighteen cubits, and a fillet of twelve cubits encircled it, and its thickness was four fingers, and it was hollow.

22 And a capital of brass was upon it; and the height of one chapiter was five cubits, with network and pomegranates upon the capitals round about, all of brass. The second pillar and the pomegranates were the same.

23 And there were ninety-six pomegranates on the side; all the pomegranates upon the network were one hundred round about.

24 And the general of the guard took Sheraiah the chief priest and Zephaniah the second priest and the three keepers of the doors;

25 He took also from the city a eunuch who had been in charge of the men of war, and seven prominent men who had attended the king's person, who were found in the city, and the scribe the commander in chief of the army, who mustered the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land, who were found in the midst of the city.

26 So Nebuzaradan, the general of the guard, took them and brought them to the king of Babylon to Diblath.

27 And the king of Babylon smote them and put them to death in Diblath in the land of Hamath. Thus Judah was carried away captive out of his own land.

28 This is the number of people whom Nebuchadnezzar carried away captive in the seventh year of his reign: three thousand and twenty-three Jews;

29 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred and thirty-two persons;

30 In the twenty-third year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon Nebuzaradan, the general of the guard, carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred and forty-five persons: all the persons were four thousand and six hundred.

31 And it came to pass in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiakim king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the twenty-fifth day of the month, Aol-merodach king of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, honored Jehoiakim king of Judah and brought him out of prison.

32 And he spoke kindly to him and set his throne above the thrones of the kings who were with him in Babylon,

33 And changed his prison garments; and he did continually eat bread before him all the days of his life.

34 And for his portion, there was a continual allowance given him of the king of Babylon, every day until the day of his death, all the days of his life.

1 Zedekia6667 war einundzwanzig6242 Jahre8141 alt1121, da er König4427 ward4427, und regierete elf Jahre8141 zu Jerusalem3389. Seine Mutter517 hieß8034 Hamutal2537, eine259 Tochter1323 Jeremias zu Libna3841.

2 Und tat, das dem7451 HErrn3068 übel gefiel5869, gleichwie Jojakim3079 getan6213 hatte6213.

3 Denn es ging des HErrn3068 Zorn über Jerusalem3389 und Juda3063, bis er7993 sie von6440 seinem Angesicht639 verwarf. Und Zedekia6667 fiel ab4775 vom Könige4428 zu5921 Babel894.

4 Aber im neunten8671 Jahr8141 seines Königreichs, am zehnten6224 Tage2320 des zehnten6218 Monden2320, kam935 Nebukadnezar5019, der König4427 zu Babel894, samt all seinem Heer2428 wider Jerusalem3389 und4428 belagerten sie2583 und1129 machten eine Schanze ringsumher5439.

5 Und blieb also, die Stadt5892 belagert4692 bis935 ins elfte Jahr8141 des Königs4428 Zedekia6667.

6 Aber am neunten8672 Tage2320 des vierten7243 Monden2320 nahm2388 der Hunger7458 überhand in der Stadt5892, und hatte das776 Volk5971 vom Lande nichts mehr zu essen3899.

7 Da brach man1234 in die Stadt5892; und alle Kriegsleute582 gaben die Flucht1272 und zogen3212 zur Stadt5892 hinaus3318 bei der Nacht3915, des Weges1870 zum Tor8179 zwischen den zwo Mauern2346, zum Garten1588 des Königs4428. Aber die Chaldäer3778 lagen um1870 die Stadt5892 her5439.

8 Und da310 diese zogen des Weges durchs Feld, jagte der Chaldäer3778 Heer2428 dem Könige4428 nach7291 und ergriffen5381 Zedekia6667 in dem Felde6160 bei Jericho3405; da zerstreuete sich6327 all sein Heer2428 von ihm.

9 Und sie8610 fingen den König4428 und brachten ihn hinauf5927 dem Könige4428 zu Babel894 gen Riblath, die im Lande776 Hemath liegt; der sprach1696 ein Urteil4941 über ihn.

10 Allda ließ der König4428 zu Babel894 die Kinder1121 Zedekias6667 vor seinen Augen5869 erwürgen7819 und erwürgete alle Fürsten8269 Judas zu Riblath.

11 Aber Zedekia6667 ließ5786 er die Augen5869 ausstechen und5178 ließ ihn mit zwo Ketten binden631; und3117 führete ihn also der König4428 zu Babel894 gen Babel894 und legte5414 ihn ins Gefängnis, bis935 daß er starb4194.

12 Am zehnten6218 Tag des fünften2549 Monden2320, welches ist5975 das neunzehnte Jahr8141 Nebukadnezars5019, des Königs4428 zu Babel894, kam935 Nebusar-Adan, der Hauptmann7227, der stets um den6440 König4428 zu Babel894 war, gen Jerusalem3389

13 und8313 verbrannte des HErrn3068 Haus1004 und8313 des Königs4428 Haus1004 und alle Häuser1004 zu Jerusalem3389; alle großen1419 Häuser1004 verbrannte er mit Feuer784.

14 Und das ganze Heer2428, der Chaldäer3778, so7227 bei dem Hauptmann war, rissen um5439 alle Mauern2346 zu Jerusalem3389 ringsumher.

15 Aber das arme1803 Volk5971 und3499 andere Volk5971, so7227 noch übrig3499 war1540 in der Stadt5892, und die5307 zum König4428 zu Babel894 fielen5307, und das übrige7604 Handwerksvolk527 führete Nebusar-Adan, der Hauptmann, gefangen weg.

16 Und vom armen1803 Volk auf dem Lande776 ließ Nebusar-Adan, der Hauptmann7227, bleiben7604 Weingärtner3755 und Ackerleute3009.

17 Aber die ehernen Säulen5982 am Hause1004 des HErrn3068 und5178 das Gestühle4350 und5178 das eherne5178 Meer3220 am Hause1004 des HErrn3068 zerbrachen7665 die Chaldäer3778 und führeten all das Erz von denselbigen gen Babel894.

18 Und5178 die Kessel5518, Schaufeln3257, Messer4212, Becken4219, Kellen3709 und alle8334 ehernen Gefäße3627, die man im Gottesdienst pflegte zu brauchen, nahmen3947 sie weg.

19 Dazu nahm3947 der Hauptmann7227, was2091 gülden und3701 silbern3701 war, an Bechern, Räuchtöpfen4289, Becken5592, Kesseln5518, Leuchtern4501, Löffeln3709 und Schalen4219,

21 Der zwo Säulen5982 aber war eine259 jegliche achtzehn6240 Ellen520 hoch6967, und eine Schnur2339 zwölf6240 Ellen520 lang reichte um5437 sie her5672, und war vier702 Finger676 dick und inwendig hohl5014.

22 Und5178 stund auf jeglicher ein259 eherner Knauf5982, fünf2568 Ellen520 hoch6967, und Reife3805 und Granatäpfel7416 waren an jeglichem Knauf ringsumher5439, alles ehern; und war eine Säule wie die andere8145, die Granatäpfel7416 auch.

23 Es waren der Granatäpfel7416 sechsundneunzig8337 dran, und7307 aller Granatäpfel7416 waren hundert3967 an einem Reif ringsumher5439.

24 Und3548 der Hauptmann7227 nahm3947 den7218 Priester Seraja8304 aus der ersten Ordnung und3548 den Priester Zephanja6846 aus der andern4932 Ordnung und drei7969 Türhüter8104
