Chapter 13

1 Let every3956 soul5590 be subject5293 to the higher5242 powers.1849 For there is no3756 power1849 but of God:2316 the powers1849 that be are ordained5021 of God.2316

2 Whoever3588 therefore5620 resists498 the power,1849 resists436 the ordinance1296 of God:2316 and they that resist436 shall receive2983 to themselves1438 damnation.2917

3 For rulers758 are not a terror5401 to good18 works,2041 but to the evil.2556 Will2309 you then1161 not be afraid5399 of the power?1849 do4160 that which is good,18 and you shall have2192 praise1868 of the same:846

4 For he is the minister1249 of God2316 to you for good.18 But if1437 you do4160 that which is evil,2556 be afraid;5399 for he bears5409 not the sword3162 in vain:1500 for he is the minister1249 of God,2316 a revenger1558 to execute wrath3709 on him that does4238 evil.2556

11 And that, knowing1492 the time,2540 that now2236 it is high time5610 to awake1453 out of sleep:5258 for now3568 is our salvation4991 nearer1452 than2228 when3753 we believed.4100

12 The night3571 is far spent,4298 the day2250 is at1448 hand:1448 let us therefore3767 cast656 off659 the works2041 of darkness,4655 and let us put1746 on1746 the armor3696 of light.5457

13 Let us walk4043 honestly,2156 as in the day;2250 not in rioting2970 and drunkenness,3178 not in chambering2845 and wantonness,766 not in strife2054 and envying.2205

Розділ 13

1 Нехай кожна люди́на ко́риться вищій вла́ді, бо немає вла́ди, як не від Бога, і вла́ди існуючі встановлені від Бога.

2 Тому той, хто противиться вла́ді, противиться Божій постанові; а ті, хто противиться, самі ві́зьмуть о́суд на себе.

3 Бо володарі — по́страх не на добрі діла, а на злі. Хочеш не боятися вла́ди? Роби добро, і матимеш похвалу́ від неї,

4 бо володар — Божий слуга, тобі на добро. А як чиниш ти зле, то бійся, бо неда́рмо він носить меча́, він бо Божий слуга, ме́сник у гніві злочи́нцеві!

5 Тому треба кори́тися не тільки ради стра́ху кари, але й ради сумління.

6 Через це ви й пода́тки даєте, бо вони служи́телі Божі, саме тим за́вжди зайняті.

7 Тож віддайте належне усім: кому податок — податок, кому ми́то — мито, кому страх — страх, кому честь — честь.

8 Не будьте винні ніко́му нічо́го, крім того, щоб любити один о́дного. Бо хто іншого любить, той виконав Зако́на.

9 Бо заповіді: „Не чини пере́любу“, „Не вбивай“, „Не кради́“, „Не свідку́й неправдиво“, „Не пожада́й“ й які інші, вони мі́стяться всі в цьому слові: „Люби свого бли́жнього, як самого себе!“

10 Любов не чинить зла ближньому, тож любов — викона́ння Зако́ну.

11 І це тому́, що знаєте час, що пора нам уже пробуди́тись від сну. Бо тепер спасі́ння ближче до нас, аніж тоді, коли ми ввірували.

12 Ніч минула, а день набли́зився, тож відкиньмо вчинки те́мряви й зодягнімось у зброю світла.

13 Як удень, поступаймо доброчесно, не в гульні та п'я́нстві, не в пере́любі та розпусті, не в сварні́ та за́здрощах,

14 але зодягні́ться Господом Ісусом Христо́м, а дого́дження тілу не обе́ртайте на пожадли́вість!
