3 Плеть — для коня, узда — для осла, а палка — для спины глупцов.

4 Не отвечай невежде по глупости его, а то сам ему уподобишься.

5 Ответь невежде по глупости его, иначе он возомнит себя мудрым.

6 Кто дело глупцу поручит, тот с ног собьется и хлебнет горя.

7 Как ноги хромому не служат — так бесполезна притча на устах глупца.

8 Оказывать почет глупцу — что камень вкладывать в пращу.

9 Что пьяный, хватающийся за колючую ветку, — то и глупец, изрекающий притчи.

10 Как из лука стрелять не целясь, так и глупца нанимать, что нанимать бродягу.

11 Как пес возвращается к изблеванному им, так глупец свою глупость повторяет.

12 Видел ты человека, что мудр в собственных глазах? Даже у глупца не всё так безнадежно, как у него!

13 Говорит лентяй: «Лев на улице! Царь зверей на площади!»

14 Вертится дверь на петлях, а лентяй — на своей кровати.

15 Запустит лентяй руку в чашку, а до рта трудно еду донести.

16 В собственных глазах лентяй мудрее семерых, отвечающих разумно.

17 Что бродячего пса хватать за уши, то встревать в чужую ссору.

18 Безумцу, что горящие головешки разбрасывает и пускает смертоносные стрелы,

19 подобен тот, кто ближнего своего обманул, а потом сказал: «Я лишь пошутил!»

20 Без дров — огонь погаснет, без сплетника — раздор утихнет.

21 От углей — жаркая зола, от дров — огонь, от вздорного человека — ссора.

22 Слова сплетника — что лакомый кусочек, глубоко, до нутра они проникают.

23 Как изгарь, что покрывает глиняный сосуд, так речи льстивые при злобном сердце.

24 Речи врага притворно любезны, но в сердце он таит коварство.

25 Хоть и любезно говорит он, не верь ему! Семь мерзостей в сердце у него!

26 Скрывает он свою ненависть обманом, но откроется его злоба перед всеми!

27 Кто роет яму — сам в нее попадет, кто толкает камень — по тому он и прокатится.

28 Лживый язык ненавидит тех, кто им повержен, льстивые уста готовят погибель.
