2 З плоду уст чоловік споживає добро́, а жадо́ба зрадливих — наси́льство. |

3 Хто уста свої стереже́, той душу свою береже́, а хто гу́би свої розпуска́є, — на того поги́біль. |
|
4 Пожадає душа лінюха́, та даре́мно, душа ж роботя́щих наси́титься. |
|
5 Нена́видить праведний слово брехливе, безбожний же чинить лихе, і себе засоро́млює. |
|
6 Праведність оберігає невинного на дорозі його, а безбожність погу́блює грішника. |
|
7 Дехто вдає багача́, хоч нічо́го не має, а дехто вдає бідака́, хоч маєток великий у нього. |
|
8 Викуп за душу люди́ни — багатство її, а вбогий й доко́ру не чує. |
|
9 Світло праведних ве́село світить, а світильник безбожних пога́сне. |
|
10 Тільки сварка пихо́ю зчиня́ється, а мудрість із тими, хто ра́диться. |
|
11 Багатство, заско́ро здобуте, — поме́ншується, хто ж збирає пома́лу — примно́жує. |
|
12 Задовга надія — неду́га для серця, а бажа́ння, що спо́внюється, — це дерево життя. |
|
13 Хто пого́рджує словом Господнім, той шкодить собі, хто ж страх має до заповіді, тому надолу́житься. |
|
14 Наука премудрого — крини́ця життя, щоб віддали́тися від пасток сме́рти. |
|
15 Добрий розум прино́сить приємність, а дорога зрадли́вих — погу́ба для них. |
|
16 Кожен розумний за мудрістю робить, а безу́мний глупо́ту показує. |
|
17 Безбожний посо́л у нещастя впаде́, а вірний посол — немов лік. |
|
18 Хто ламає поу́ку — убозтво та га́ньба тому́, а хто береже осторо́гу — шанований він. |
|
19 Ви́конане побажа́ння приємне душі, а вступи́тись від зла — то оги́да безумним. |
|
20 Хто з мудрими ходить, той мудрим стає, а хто товаришу́є з безу́мним, той лиха набу́де. |
|
21 Грішників зло доганя́є, а праведним Бог надолу́жить добром. |
|
22 Добрий лишає спа́док і ону́кам, маєток же грішника схо́ваний буде для праведного. |
|
23 Убогому буде багато поживи і з поля невпра́вного, та деякі гинуть з безпра́в'я. |
|
24 Хто стримує різку свою, той нена́видить сина свого, хто ж кохає його, той шукає для ньо́го карта́ння. |

25 Праведний їсть, скільки схоче душа, живіт же безбожників за́всіди брак відчуває. |

|
1 WISE son hears his father's instructions; but an evil son does not listen to rebuke. |
|
2 A good man shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; but the souls of the wicked shall perish. |
|
3 He who guards his mouth keeps his life; he who speaks too much shall bring ruin upon himself. |
|
4 A sluggard is always craving; but the soul of the diligent shall be enriched. |
|
5 A righteous man hates lying; but a wicked man is loathsome, and shall be ashamed and confounded. |
|
6 Righteousness keeps him that is upright in his way; but wickedness overthrows the sinner. |
|
7 There are some who pretend to be rich, yet have nothing; there are others who pretend to be poor, yet have great riches. |
|
8 The ransom of a man's life is his riches; but the poor ignores a rebuke. |
|
9 The light of the righteous shall rejoice; but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. |
|
10 A wicked man commits shameful things; but with the well-advised is wisdom. |
|
11 Wealth acquired unjustly will diminish; but he who gathers justly shall increase his wealth. |
|
12 Blessed is the man who is willing to help; more blessed is he than he who merely rests in hope, as a tree of life he bears fruit. |
|
13 He who despises counsel shall be destroyed by it; but he who fears the commandment shall be spared. A deceitful man shall not benefit; but a wise man whose works are good shall prosper. |
|
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life to those who depart from the snares of death. |
|
15 Good understanding brings mercy; but the way of transgressors leads to destruction. |
|
16 Every prudent man deals wisely; but a fool speaks foolishness. |
|
17 A wicked messenger falls into mischief; but a faithful ambassador is a healer. |
|
18 Poverty and shame shall be to him who refuses instruction; but he who regards reproof shall be honored. |
|
19 A noble desire is sweet to the soul; but the abomination of the wicked is far away from knowledge. |
|
20 He who walks with wise men shall be wise; but a companion of fools shall suffer harm. |
|
21 Evil pursues sinners; but to the righteous good shall be repaid. |
|
22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children; and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous. |
|
23 Those who do not understand the manner of life are destroyed by riches; yea, many men are destroyed completely. |
|
24 He who spares his rod hates his son; but he who loves his son disciplines him diligently. |
|
25 The righteous man eats and is satisfied; but the belly of the wicked shall want. |
