1 В то время израильтяне повели себя подобно тем людям, которые выражают свое недовольство ГОСПОДУ по поводу любых неприятностей. Услышал это ГОСПОДЬ и вознегодовал. И тогда огонь, Им ниспосланный, вспыхнул среди возроптавших и начал бушевать на краю стана.

2 Люди возопили и бросились к Моисею. Воззвал Моисей к ГОСПОДУ — и погас огонь.

3 (Место это назвали Тавера, пожарище, ибо там среди них вспыхнул огонь ГОСПОДЕНЬ.)

4 Люди пришлые, примкнувшие к израильтянам при исходе из Египта, стали выказывать вожделение лучшей пищи. Вслед за ними возопили вновь и сыны Израилевы. «О если бы у нас было мясо! — стенали они. —

5 Мы же помним, как ели рыбу в Египте — она доставалась нам даром, — и огурцы, и арбузы, и лук-порей, и чеснок, и лук репчатый.

6 А теперь в пустыне мы совсем иссохли — ничего, кроме манны, не видим».

7 (Эта манна была похожа на семя кориандра, молочно-белого цвета.

8 По утрам люди собирали ее, чтобы молоть в жерновах или в ступках толочь, а потом варили в котлах или делали из нее лепешки, по вкусу как оладьи с маслом.

9 Манна выпадала на стан вместе с ночной росой.)

10 Моисей слышал ропот и вопли людей: каждая семья плакала у входа в шатры свои. Велико было негодование ГОСПОДА, и Моисей был сильно огорчен.

11 Поэтому сказал он ГОСПОДУ: «Зачем Ты навел беду эту на раба Своего? Чем провинился я перед Тобой, что Ты оставляешь меня одного нести бремя всего народа?

12 Разве я мать им? Разве я родил их, что Ты обязал меня нести их на руках, — как кормилица носит младенца, — в ту страну, которую Ты отцам их пообещал?

13 Да откуда же мне взять столько мяса, чтобы накормить весь народ? А они плачутся: „Дай нам мяса, накорми нас!“

14 Весь народ сей — слишком тяжкое бремя для меня, не понести мне его одному!

15 Если Ты хочешь и впредь так со мной поступать, тогда убей меня поскорее! Сделай это, коли обрел я благоволение Твое, дабы мне избавиться от горя, меня терзающего».

16 ГОСПОДЬ сказал Моисею: «Собери семьдесят человек из числа старейшин Израиля, о которых знаешь, что они мудрые старейшины и приставники народа; призови их к Шатру Откровения, пусть станут они там вместе с тобой.

17 Тогда сойду Я к вам и буду говорить там с тобою. Возьму от Того Духа, Который на тебе, и ниспошлю Его на этих семьдесят человек. Они помогут тебе нести бремя народа сего, чтобы ты не один это делал.

18 А народу скажи: „Освятитесь, чтобы быть вам готовыми к завтрашнему дню, — будете есть мясо. Вы же хотели, чтобы услышал вас ГОСПОДЬ, когда вопили: „Если бы только было у нас мясо! И точно — в Египте жилось нам лучше!“ Вот и даст вам ГОСПОДЬ мясо, накормит вас.

19 И не один день будете есть это мясо, не два, не пять, не десять, не двадцать дней,

20 а целый месяц, до тех пор, пока не пойдет оно из ноздрей ваших, пока тошнить вас не станет. Это будет вам за то, что пренебрегли вы ГОСПОДОМ, живущим среди вас, и плакались пред Ним, говоря: „Ради чего мы вышли из Египта?““»

21 «Как? — удивился Моисей. — Только взрослых мужчин вокруг меня шестьсот тысяч, а Ты говоришь: „Дам им мяса на целый месяц“.

22 Даже если всех быков и овец заколоть, достанет ли этого для них? Или если выловить всю рыбу морскую, будет ли для них ее вдоволь?»

23 А ГОСПОДЬ сказал Моисею: «Разве коротка рука ГОСПОДНЯ? Ныне же увидишь, сбудется слово Мое или нет».

24 Моисей вышел к народу и пересказал ему то, что услышал от ГОСПОДА. Затем созвал он семьдесят человек из старейшин народа и поставил их вокруг Шатра Откровения.

25 Там явился им ГОСПОДЬ в облаке и говорил с Моисеем. Взял ГОСПОДЬ от Того Духа, что был на Моисее, и наделил Им всех собравшихся здесь старейшин. И когда низошел на них Дух, стали они пророчествовать, однако не делали этого вновь.

26 В то время двое из старейшин, Эльдад и Мейдад, оставались в стане. Но и на них низошел Дух, ибо они тоже были записаны, к семидесяти причислены. Потому и эти двое, хоть и не вышли к Шатру, стали пророчествовать в стане.

27 Некий юноша прибежал к Моисею и сказал ему: «Эльдад и Мейдад пророчествуют в стане!»

28 Тогда Иисус Навин, служитель Моисея, один из самых близких ему молодых людей, вмешался: «Моисей, повелитель мой, останови их!»

29 Но Моисей сказал ему: «Не ревнуешь ли ты из-за меня? Пусть бы все в народе ГОСПОДНЕМ становились пророками и ГОСПОДЬ мог бы ниспослать Дух Свой на каждого из них!»

30 И тогда возвратился Моисей вместе с избранными старейшинами Израиля в стан.

31 Поднялся ветер, посланный ГОСПОДОМ, и принес со стороны моря тучи перепелов и разбросал их по земле — и в стане, и поодаль от него на расстоянии, которое можно было пройти за день во всех направлениях. Почти на два локтя покрыли они землю.

32 Весь день и всю ночь и весь следующий день сыны Израилевы выходили и собирали этих перепелов. И у тех, кто собрал меньше всех, птиц было не менее десяти хомеров. И разложили все собранное вокруг стана.

33 Случилось же так, что, не успели еще израильтяне и прожевать как следует то мясо, прогневался на них ГОСПОДЬ — поразил Он великим бедствием народ израильский.

34 Потому и назвали то место Киврот-Хаттаава, гробницей вожделений, ибо похоронили там народ, вожделению предавшийся.

35 А потом от Киврот-Хаттаавы народ двинулся в Хацерот и, достигнув его, остановился.

1 And when the people5971 complained,596 it displeased7451 241 the LORD:3068 and the LORD3068 heard8085 it; and his anger639 was kindled;2734 and the fire784 of the LORD3068 burnt1197 among them, and consumed398 them that were in the uttermost7097 parts of the camp.4264

2 And the people5971 cried6817 to Moses;4872 and when Moses4872 prayed6419 to the LORD,3068 the fire784 was quenched.8257

3 And he called7121 the name8034 of the place4725 Taberah:8404 because3588 the fire784 of the LORD3068 burnt1197 among them.

4 And the mixed multitude628 that was among7130 them fell a lusting:8378 and the children1121 of Israel3478 also1571 wept1058 again,7725 and said,559 Who4310 shall give us flesh1320 to eat?398

5 We remember2142 the fish,1710 which834 we did eat398 in Egypt4714 freely;2600 the cucumbers,7180 and the melons,20 and the leeks,2682 and the onions,1211 and the garlic:7762

6 But now6258 our soul5315 is dried3001 away: there is nothing369 3605 at all,3605 beside1115 this2088 manna,4478 before our eyes.5869

7 And the manna4478 was as coriander1407 seed,2233 and the color5869 thereof as the color5869 of bdellium.916

8 And the people5971 went7751 about,7751 and gathered3950 it, and ground2912 it in mills,7347 or176 beat1743 it in a mortar,4085 and baked1310 it in pans,6517 and made6213 cakes5692 of it: and the taste2940 of it was as the taste2940 of fresh3955 oil.8081

9 And when the dew2919 fell3381 on the camp4264 in the night,3915 the manna4478 fell3381 on it.

10 Then Moses4872 heard8085 the people5971 weep1058 throughout their families,4940 every man376 in the door6607 of his tent:168 and the anger639 of the LORD3068 was kindled2734 greatly;3966 Moses4872 also was displeased.5869

11 And Moses4872 said559 to the LORD,3068 Why4100 have you afflicted7489 your servant?5650 and why4100 have I not found4672 favor2580 in your sight,5869 that you lay7760 the burden4853 of all3605 this2088 people5971 on me?

12 Have I conceived2029 all3605 this2088 people?5971 have I begotten3205 them, that you should say559 to me, Carry5375 them in your bosom,2436 as a nursing539 father bears5375 the sucking3243 child, to the land127 which834 you swore7650 to their fathers?1

13 From where370 should I have flesh1320 to give5414 to all3605 this2088 people?5971 for they weep1058 to me, saying,559 Give5414 us flesh,1320 that we may eat.398

14 I am not able3201 to bear5375 all3605 this2088 people5971 alone,905 because3588 it is too heavy3515 for me.

15 And if518 you deal6213 thus3602 with me, kill2026 me, I pray4994 you, out of hand,2026 if518 I have found4672 favor2580 in your sight;5869 and let me not see7200 my wretchedness.7451

16 And the LORD3068 said559 to Moses,4872 Gather622 to me seventy7657 men376 of the elders2205 of Israel,3478 whom834 you know3045 to be the elders2205 of the people,5971 and officers7860 over them; and bring3947 them to the tabernacle168 of the congregation,4150 that they may stand3320 there8033 with you.

17 And I will come3381 down3381 and talk1696 with you there:8033 and I will take680 of the spirit7307 which834 is on you, and will put7760 it on them; and they shall bear5375 the burden4853 of the people5971 with you, that you bear5375 it not yourself alone.905

18 And say559 you to the people,5971 Sanctify6942 yourselves against to morrow,4279 and you shall eat398 flesh:1320 for you have wept1058 in the ears241 of the LORD,3068 saying,559 Who4310 shall give us flesh1320 to eat?398 for it was well2895 with us in Egypt:4714 therefore the LORD3068 will give5414 you flesh,1320 and you shall eat.398

19 You shall not eat398 one259 day,3117 nor3808 two days,3117 nor3808 five2568 days,3117 neither3808 ten6235 days,3117 nor3808 twenty6242 days;3117

20 But even5704 a whole3117 month,2320 until5704 it come3318 out at your nostrils,639 and it be loathsome2214 to you: because3282 that you have despised3988 the LORD3068 which834 is among7130 you, and have wept1058 before6440 him, saying,559 Why4100 came3318 we forth3318 out of Egypt?4714

21 And Moses4872 said,559 The people,5971 among7130 whom834 I am, are six8337 hundred3967 thousand505 footmen;7273 and you have said,559 I will give5414 them flesh,1320 that they may eat398 a whole3117 month.2320

22 Shall the flocks6629 and the herds1241 be slain7819 for them, to suffice4672 them? or shall all3605 the fish1709 of the sea3220 be gathered622 together for them, to suffice4672 them?

23 And the LORD3068 said559 to Moses,4872 Is the LORD's3068 hand3027 waxed short?7114 you shall see7200 now6258 whether my word1697 shall come7136 to pass to you or not.

24 And Moses4872 went3318 out, and told1696 the people5971 the words1697 of the LORD,3068 and gathered622 the seventy7657 men376 of the elders2205 of the people,5971 and set5975 them round5439 about the tabernacle.168

25 And the LORD3068 came3381 down3381 in a cloud,6051 and spoke1696 to him, and took680 of the spirit7307 that was on him, and gave5414 it to the seventy7657 elders:2205 and it came1961 to pass, that, when the spirit7307 rested5117 on them, they prophesied,5012 and did not cease.3254

26 But there remained7604 two8147 of the men582 in the camp,4264 the name8034 of the one259 was Eldad,419 and the name8034 of the other8145 Medad:4312 and the spirit7307 rested5117 on them; and they were of them that were written,3789 but went3318 not out to the tabernacle:168 and they prophesied5012 in the camp.4264

27 And there ran7323 a young5288 man, and told5046 Moses,4872 and said,559 Eldad419 and Medad4312 do prophesy5012 in the camp.4264

28 And Joshua3091 the son1121 of Nun,5126 the servant8334 of Moses,4872 one of his young979 men, answered6030 and said,559 My lord113 Moses,4872 forbid3607 them.

29 And Moses4872 said559 to him, Envy7065 you for my sake? would4310 5414 God that all3605 the LORD's3068 people5971 were prophets,5030 and that the LORD3068 would4310 5414 put5414 his spirit7307 on them!

30 And Moses4872 got622 him into413 the camp,4264 he and the elders2205 of Israel.3478

31 And there went5265 forth5265 a wind7307 from the LORD,3068 and brought1468 quails7958 from the sea,3220 and let them fall5203 by the camp,4264 as it were a day's3117 journey1870 on this3541 side,3541 and as it were a day's3117 journey1870 on the other3541 side,3541 round5439 about the camp,4264 and as it were two cubits520 high on the face6440 of the earth.776

32 And the people5971 stood6965 up all3605 that day,3117 and all3605 that night,3915 and all3605 the next4283 day,3117 and they gathered622 the quails:7958 he that gathered least4591 gathered622 ten6235 homers:2563 and they spread7849 them all3605 abroad7849 for themselves1992 round5439 about the camp.4264

33 And while the flesh1320 was yet5750 between996 their teeth,8127 ere2962 it was chewed,3772 the wrath639 of the LORD3068 was kindled2734 against the people,5971 and the LORD3068 smote5221 the people5971 with a very3966 great7227 plague.4347

34 And he called7121 the name8034 of that place4725 Kibrothhattaavah:6914 because3588 there8033 they buried6912 the people5971 that lusted.183

35 And the people5971 journeyed5265 from Kibrothhattaavah6914 to Hazeroth;2698 and stayed1961 at Hazeroth.2698

16 ГОСПОДЬ сказал Моисею: «Собери семьдесят человек из числа старейшин Израиля, о которых знаешь, что они мудрые старейшины и приставники народа; призови их к Шатру Откровения, пусть станут они там вместе с тобой.

16 And the LORD3068 said559 to Moses,4872 Gather622 to me seventy7657 men376 of the elders2205 of Israel,3478 whom834 you know3045 to be the elders2205 of the people,5971 and officers7860 over them; and bring3947 them to the tabernacle168 of the congregation,4150 that they may stand3320 there8033 with you.

17 Тогда сойду Я к вам и буду говорить там с тобою. Возьму от Того Духа, Который на тебе, и ниспошлю Его на этих семьдесят человек. Они помогут тебе нести бремя народа сего, чтобы ты не один это делал.

19 И не один день будете есть это мясо, не два, не пять, не десять, не двадцать дней,

29 Но Моисей сказал ему: «Не ревнуешь ли ты из-за меня? Пусть бы все в народе ГОСПОДНЕМ становились пророками и ГОСПОДЬ мог бы ниспослать Дух Свой на каждого из них!»

30 И тогда возвратился Моисей вместе с избранными старейшинами Израиля в стан.

31 Поднялся ветер, посланный ГОСПОДОМ, и принес со стороны моря тучи перепелов и разбросал их по земле — и в стане, и поодаль от него на расстоянии, которое можно было пройти за день во всех направлениях. Почти на два локтя покрыли они землю.

32 Весь день и всю ночь и весь следующий день сыны Израилевы выходили и собирали этих перепелов. И у тех, кто собрал меньше всех, птиц было не менее десяти хомеров. И разложили все собранное вокруг стана.

33 Случилось же так, что, не успели еще израильтяне и прожевать как следует то мясо, прогневался на них ГОСПОДЬ — поразил Он великим бедствием народ израильский.

33 And while the flesh1320 was yet5750 between996 their teeth,8127 ere2962 it was chewed,3772 the wrath639 of the LORD3068 was kindled2734 against the people,5971 and the LORD3068 smote5221 the people5971 with a very3966 great7227 plague.4347

34 Потому и назвали то место Киврот-Хаттаава, гробницей вожделений, ибо похоронили там народ, вожделению предавшийся.

34 And he called7121 the name8034 of that place4725 Kibrothhattaavah:6914 because3588 there8033 they buried6912 the people5971 that lusted.183

35 А потом от Киврот-Хаттаавы народ двинулся в Хацерот и, достигнув его, остановился.

35 And the people5971 journeyed5265 from Kibrothhattaavah6914 to Hazeroth;2698 and stayed1961 at Hazeroth.2698
