Chapter 3

1 HEAR this word that the LORD has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,

2 You only have I known of all the peoples and of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

3 Will two men go on a journey together unless they have made an appointment?

4 Does a lion roar in the forest when he has no prey? Or does a lion cry out of his den if he has taken no prey?

5 Will a bird fall into a snare upon the earth without a hunter? Or can a trap spring up from the ground and catch the prey without being set?

6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people be not afraid? Or shall there be misfortune in a city and the LORD has not done it?

7 Surely the LORD God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.

8 The lion has roared, who will not fear? The LORD God has spoken, who can but prophesy?

9 Proclaim it in the palaces of Ashdod and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountain of Samaria, and see the great tumults in the midst thereof and the oppression which is in it.

10 For they do not know how to reprove, says the LORD, but they store up plunder and spoil in their palaces.

11 Therefore thus says the LORD: A calamity shall surround the land; and its strength shall be brought down, and its palaces shall be spoiled.

12 Thus says the LORD: As the shepherd takes out of the mouth of the lion two legs or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel be delivered who dwell in Samaria, along with the people who dwell in Damascus, by a staff that strikes suddenly.

13 Hear, and testify in the house of Jacob, says the LORD God, the God of hosts of Israel,

14 That in the day that I punish the transgressions of Israel I will also punish the altars of Beth-el; and the horns of the altars shall be cut off and fall to the ground.

15 And I will destroy the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and great houses shall be demolished, says the LORD.

1 Слушай это слово, которое Вечный изрёк против тебя, о народ Исраила, против всех родов, которые Я вывел из Египта:

2 – Вы единственные, кого Я избрал из всех народов земли;поэтому Я накажу вас за все ваши грехи.

3 Разве пойдут двое вместе, если не сговорятся заранее?

4 Разве ревёт в чаще лев, когда нет у него добычи?Разве рычит молодой лев в своём логове, когда он ничего не поймал?

5 Разве птица попадётся в петлю на земле, если для неё не положили приманку?Разве поднимется с земли петля, когда ничего в неё не попало?

6 Когда в городе звучит рог, разве народ не трепещет?Когда в город приходит беда, разве не Вечный наслал её?

7 Также Владыка Вечный не делает ничего, не открыв Своего замысла Своим рабам пророкам.

8 Лев заревел – кто не испугается?Владыка Вечный сказал – кто не станет пророчествовать?

9 Объявите крепостям Ашдода и Египта: – Соберитесь на горах Самарии;посмотрите на великие бесчинства в ней, на притеснения среди её народа.

10 – Они не знают, как поступать праведно, – возвещает Вечный, –те, кто копит в своих крепостях добро, собранное насилием и грабежом.

11 Поэтому так говорит Владыка Вечный:
– Враг заполонит землю; он разрушит твои твердыни и разграбит твои крепости.

12 Так говорит Вечный:
– Как пастух иногда вырывает из пасти льва две голени или часть уха,так спасены будут исраильтяне, те, кто сидят в Самариина краю своих постелей и на своих ложах из Дамаска. .

13 – Слушайте это и свидетельствуйте против потомков Якуба, – возвещает Владыка Вечный, Бог Сил.

14 – В день, когда Я накажу Исраил за его грехи, Я разрушу и жертвенники Вефиля; .рога жертвенника будут отсечены и упадут на землю.

15 Я разорю зимний дом вместе с летним домом;украшенные слоновой костью дома будут уничтожены, и особняки будут снесены, – возвещает Вечный.

1 Слушай это слово, которое Вечный изрёк против тебя, о народ Исраила, против всех родов, которые Я вывел из Египта:

8 Лев заревел – кто не испугается?Владыка Вечный сказал – кто не станет пророчествовать?

9 Объявите крепостям Ашдода и Египта: – Соберитесь на горах Самарии;посмотрите на великие бесчинства в ней, на притеснения среди её народа.

13 – Слушайте это и свидетельствуйте против потомков Якуба, – возвещает Владыка Вечный, Бог Сил.
