Chapter 11

1 AND when Nabin king of Hazur heard of these things, he sent to Jobab king of Meron, and to the king of Shamrin, and to the king of Achshaph,

2 And to the kings that were north of him in the mountains, and to the south, and in the plain of Chinnereth, and in the valleys and in Napotdor on the west,

3 And to the Canaanites on the east and on the west, and to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Jebusites in the mountains, and to the Hivites below mount Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.

4 And they came out with all their hosts, many people, as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with many horses and chariots.

5 And when all these kings were met together, they came and encamped together at the waters of Meron, and prepared to fight against Israel.

6 And the LORD said to Joshua, Do not be afraid of them; for tomorrow about this time I will cause them to be routed before Israel; and I will annihilate their horses and burn their chariots with fire.

7 So Joshua came suddenly to the waters of Meron, he and all the people of war who were with him; and they fell upon them.

8 And the LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them and pursued them as far as great Zidon, and to the lake, and as far as the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, and they left none remaining.

9 And Joshua did to them as the LORD had told him: he utterly destroyed their horses and burned their chariots with fire.

10 And Joshua at that time turned back and took Hazor, and slew its king with the sword; for Hazor before had been the head of all those kingdoms.

11 And they smote with the edge of the sword all the people that were in it, utterly destroying them; there was not a soul left among them; and he burned Hazor with fire.

12 And all the cities of those kings, and all their kings, Joshua took and smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded him.

13 And all the towns that stood on the hills did Israel burn, and Joshua burned Hazor.

14 And all the spoil of these cities and the cattle, the children of Israel took for themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword until they had annihilated them, and they did not leave a soul among them.

15 Just as the LORD had commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD had commanded Moses.

16 So Joshua took all that land, the mountain country and all the south country and all the land of the plain and all the mountains and their lowlands;

17 From mount Paleg that goes up to Seir, as far as Gadgad in the valley of Lebanon below mount Hermon; and all their kings Joshua took and slew.

18 Joshua made war for a long time with all those kings.

19 There was not a city that was not delivered up to the children of Israel, and they destroyed it, except the Hivites who dwell in Gibeon, whom Joshua allowed to live, and work for Israel. Now all these kingdoms are seven in number, and Joshua destroyed them all.

20 For it was of the LORD to encourage their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that they might destroy them utterly, and that they might not have compassion upon them, but that they might destroy them, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

21 And at that time came Joshua and smote the giants who were in the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Gebal and from all the mountains of Judah and from all the mountains of Israel; Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.

22 There was none of the giants left remaining in the land of the children of Israel; only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, did any remain.

23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD had spoken to Moses; and Joshua gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

4 Diese zogen aus3318 mit all ihrem Heer4264, ein groß7227 Volk5971, so viel7230 als des Sandes2344 am Meer3220, und8193 sehr3966 viele7227 Rosse5483 und Wagen7393.

5 Alle diese Könige4428 versammelten sich3259 und kamen935 und lagerten sich2583 zuhauf3162 an das Wasser4325 Merom4792, zu streiten3898 mit Israel3478.

6 Und der HErr3068 sprach559 zu Josua3091: Fürchte3372 dich nicht vor6440 ihnen, denn morgen4279 um diese Zeit6256 will ich sie alle erschlagen2491 geben5414 vor6440 den Kindern Israel3478; ihre Rosse5483 sollst du verlähmen und ihre Wagen4818 mit Feuer784 verbrennen8313.

7 Und Josua3091 kam935 plötzlich6597 über sie5971, und alles Kriegsvolk mit ihm, am Wasser4325 Merom4792 und überfielen5307 sie.

8 Und der HErr3068 gab5414 sie in die Hände3027 Israels3478; und schlugen5221 sie und jagten7291 sie bis gen großen7227 Zidon und bis an die warmen Wasser4956 und bis an die Breite zu Mizpe4708 gegen4217 dem Morgen; und schlugen5221 sie, bis daß niemand8300 unter ihnen überblieb.

9 Da tat ihnen Josua3091, wie der HErr3068 ihm gesagt559 hatte6213, und8313 verlähmte6131 ihre Rosse5483 und verbrannte ihre Wagen4818.

10 Und3091 kehrete um7725 zu derselben Zeit6256 und gewann3920 Hazor2674 und schlug5221 ihren König4428 mit6440 dem Schwert2719 (denn Hazor2674 war vorhin die Hauptstadt7218 aller dieser Königreiche4467).

11 Und8313 schlugen5221 alle Seelen5315; die drinnen waren, mit der Schärfe6310 des Schwerts2719 und verbanneten sie2763; und ließ3498 nichts überbleiben, das den Odem5397 hatte; und verbrannte Hazor2674 mit Feuer784.

12 Dazu alle Städte5892 dieser Könige4428 gewann3920 Josua3091 mit ihren Königen4428; und schlug5221 sie2763 mit der Schärfe6310 des Schwerts2719 und verbannete sie, wie Mose4872, der Knecht5650 des HErrn3068, geboten hatte6680.

13 Doch verbrannten8313 die Kinder Israel3478 keine Städte5892, die auf5975 Hügeln8510 stunden, sondern2108 Hazor2674 allein verbrannte Josua3091.

14 Und allen Raub7998 dieser Städte5892 und das Vieh929 teileten die Kinder1121 Israel3478 unter sich; aber alle Menschen120 schlugen5221 sie962 mit der Schärfe6310 des Schwerts2719, bis sie die vertilgeten, und ließen7604 nichts überbleiben, das den Odem5397 hatte8045.

15 Wie der HErr3068 Mose4872, seinem Knechte5650, und Mose4872 Josua3091 geboten6680 hatte6680, so tat6213 Josua3091, daß nichts fehlete an allem, das1697 der HErr3068 Mose4872 geboten hatte6680.

16 Also nahm3947 Josua3091 all dies Land776 ein auf dem Gebirge2022 und alles, was gegen Mittag5045 liegt, und alles Land776 Gosen1657 und die Gründe8219 und Felder und das Gebirge2022 Israel3478 mit seinen Gründen,

17 von dem Gebirge2022 an5927, das das Land1237 hinauf gen Seir8165 scheidet, bis gen Baal-Gad1171, in der Breite des Berges Libanon3844, unten am Berge2022 Hermon2768. Alle ihre Könige4428 gewann3920 er und schlug5221 sie und tötete4191 sie.

18 Er3091 stritt6213 aber eine lange7227 Zeit3117 mit diesen Königen4428.

19 Es war aber keine Stadt5892, die sich3427 mit Frieden7999 ergäbe den Kindern1121 Israel3478, ausgenommen die Heviter2340, die zu Gibeon1391 wohneten, sondern sie3947 gewannen sie alle mit Streit4421

20 Und das geschah also von dem HErrn3068, daß ihr Herz3820 verstockt würde, mit Streit4421 zu begegnen7125 den Kindern Israel3478, auf daß sie2388 verbannet würden2763, und ihnen keine Gnade8467 widerführe, sondern8045 vertilget würden, wie der HErr3068 Mose4872 geboten hatte6680.

21 Zu der Zeit6256 kam935 Josua3091 und3091 rottete aus3772 die Enakim von dem Gebirge2022, von Hebron2275, von Debir1688, von Anab6024, von allem Gebirge2022 Juda3063 und von allem Gebirge2022 Israel3478, und verbannete sie2763 mit ihren Städten5892.

22 Und ließ7604 keine Enakim überbleiben im Lande776 der Kinder1121 Israel3478, ohne zu Gasa, zu Gath1661, zu Asdod795, da blieben ihrer übrig3498.

23 Also nahm3947 Josua3091 alles Land776 ein, allerdinge wie der HErr3068 zu Mose4872 geredet hatte1696, und3091 gab5414 sie Israel3478 zum Erbe5159, einem jeglichen4256 Stamm7626 sein Teil. Und das Land776 hörete auf8252 zu kriegen4421.
