Chapter 15

1 Then said559 the LORD3068 unto413 me, Though518 Moses4872 and Samuel8050 stood5975 before6440 me, yet my mind5315 could not369 be toward413 this2088 people:5971 cast7971 them out of4480 5921 my sight,6440 and let them go forth.3318

2 And it shall come to pass,1961 if3588 they say559 unto413 thee, Whither575 shall we go forth?3318 then thou shalt tell559 413 them, Thus3541 saith559 the LORD;3068 Such as834 are for death,4194 to death;4194 and such as834 are for the sword,2719 to the sword;2719 and such as834 are for the famine,7458 to the famine;7458 and such as834 are for the captivity,7628 to the captivity.7628

3 And I will appoint6485 over5921 them four702 kinds,4940 saith5002 the LORD:3068 853 the sword2719 to slay,2026 and the dogs3611 to tear,5498 and the fowls5775 of the heaven,8064 and the beasts929 of the earth,776 to devour398 and destroy.7843

4 And I will cause5414 them to be removed2189 into all3605 kingdoms4467 of the earth,776 because of1558 Manasseh4519 the son1121 of Hezekiah3169 king4428 of Judah,3063 for5921 that which834 he did6213 in Jerusalem.3389

5 For3588 who4310 shall have pity2550 upon5921 thee, O Jerusalem?3389 or who4310 shall bemoan5110 thee? or who4310 shall go aside5493 to ask7592 how thou doest?7965

6 Thou859 hast forsaken5203 me, saith5002 the LORD,3068 thou art gone1980 backward:268 therefore will I stretch out5186 853 my hand3027 against5921 thee, and destroy7843 thee; I am weary3811 with repenting.5162

7 And I will fan2219 them with a fan4214 in the gates8179 of the land;776 I will bereave7921 them of children, I will destroy6 853 my people,5971 since they return7725 not3808 from their ways.4480 1870

8 Their widows490 are increased6105 to me above the sand4480 2344 of the seas:3220 I have brought935 upon them against5921 the mother517 of the young men970 a spoiler7703 at noonday:6672 I have caused him to fall5307 upon5921 it suddenly,6597 and terrors928 upon the city.5892

9 She that hath borne3205 seven7651 languisheth:535 she hath given up5301 the ghost;5315 her sun8121 is gone down935 while5750 it was yet day:3119 she hath been ashamed954 and confounded:2659 and the residue7611 of them will I deliver5414 to the sword2719 before6440 their enemies,341 saith5002 the LORD.3068

10 Woe188 is me, my mother,517 that3588 thou hast borne3205 me a man376 of strife7379 and a man376 of contention4066 to the whole3605 earth!776 I have neither3808 lent on usury,5383 nor3808 men have lent to me on usury;5383 yet every one3605 of them doth curse7043 me.

11 The LORD3068 said,559 Verily518 3808 it shall be well2896 with thy remnant;7611 verily518 3808 I will cause853 the enemy341 to entreat6293 thee well in the time6256 of evil7451 and in the time6256 of affliction.6869

12 Shall iron1270 break7489 the northern4480 6828 iron1270 and the steel?5178

13 Thy substance2428 and thy treasures214 will I give5414 to the spoil957 without3808 price,4242 and that for all3605 thy sins,2403 even in all3605 thy borders.1366

14 And I will make thee to pass5674 with854 thine enemies341 into a land776 which thou knowest3045 not:3808 for3588 a fire784 is kindled6919 in mine anger,639 which shall burn3344 upon5921 you.

15 O LORD,3068 thou859 knowest:3045 remember2142 me, and visit6485 me, and revenge5358 me of my persecutors;4480 7291 take3947 me not408 away in thy longsuffering:750 639 know3045 that for5921 thy sake I have suffered5375 rebuke.2781

16 Thy words1697 were found,4672 and I did eat398 them; and thy word1697 was1961 unto me the joy8342 and rejoicing8057 of mine heart:3824 for3588 I am called7121 by5921 thy name,8034 O LORD3068 God430 of hosts.6635

17 I sat3427 not3808 in the assembly5475 of the mockers,7832 nor rejoiced;5937 I sat3427 alone910 because4480 6440 of thy hand:3027 for3588 thou hast filled4390 me with indignation.2195

18 Why4100 is1961 my pain3511 perpetual,5331 and my wound4347 incurable,605 which refuseth3985 to be healed?7495 wilt thou be altogether1961 1961 unto me as3644 a liar,391 and as waters4325 that fail?3808 539

19 Therefore3651 thus3541 saith559 the LORD,3068 If518 thou return,7725 then will I bring thee again,7725 and thou shalt stand5975 before6440 me: and if518 thou take forth3318 the precious3368 from the vile,4480 2151 thou shalt be1961 as my mouth:6310 let them return7725 unto413 thee; but return7725 not3808 thou859 unto413 them.

20 And I will make5414 thee unto this2088 people5971 a fenced1219 brazen5178 wall:2346 and they shall fight3898 against413 thee, but they shall not3808 prevail3201 against thee: for3588 I589 am with854 thee to save3467 thee and to deliver5337 thee, saith5002 the LORD.3068

21 And I will deliver5337 thee out of the hand4480 3027 of the wicked,7451 and I will redeem6299 thee out of the hand4480 3709 of the terrible.6184

Chapter 15

1 THEN the LORD said to me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me pleading, yet my soul would not be pleased with this people; but I will cast them out of my sight and let them go.

2 And it shall come to pass, if they say to you, Where shall we go? Then you shall tell them, Thus says the LORD: Those numbered for death, to death; and those numbered for the sword, to the sword; and those numbered for famine, to famine; and those numbered for captivity, to captivity.

3 And I will decree against them four kinds of afflictions, says the LORD: The sword to slay, the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the air and the wild beasts of the earth to devour and destroy.

4 And I will cause them to be a horror in all the kingdoms of the earth, because of the transgressions of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem.

5 For who shall have pity upon you, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan you? or who shall go aside to inquire about your peace?

6 You have forsaken me, says the LORD, you are gone backward; therefore I will stretch out my hand against you and destroy you; and I shall not spare you again.

7 And I will fan them with a fan in the cities of the earth; I have bereaved them of their children. I have destroyed my people, and yet they did not return from their ways.

8 Their widows are increased in number more than the sand of the sea; I have brought against them, both against the mother and against the young men, robbers at noonday; I have caused terror and trembling to fall upon them suddenly.

9 She who has borne seven children languishes; her pride is gone; her sun has gone down while it was yet day; she has been ashamed and confounded; and the rest of them I will deliver to the sword before their enemies, says the LORD.

10 Woe is me, my mother, that you have borne me a judge, a rebuker to the whole earth. I am neither a debtor, nor a creditor; yet all of them curse me.

11 The LORD said, Verily I shall not leave you at ease, but I will cause an enemy from the north to encounter you in the time of tribulation and in the time of evil;

12 For he is hard as iron and as brass.

13 Your riches, your treasures, and all your borders, I will give to the spoil, because of your sins.

14 And I shall cause you to be enslaved to your enemies in a land which you do not know; for a fire is kindled in my anger, which shall burn upon you.

15 O LORD, thou knowest; remember me and save me and avenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering; know that for thy sake I have suffered reproach.

16 Thy commandments have I kept and carried out, thy word was to me a delight and the joy of my heart; for I am called by thy name.

17 O LORD God of hosts, I did not sit in the assembly of the mockers, but I was afraid because of thy hand, and I sat alone; for thou hast filled me with indignation.

18 Why is my pain so grievous and my wound so severe that it refuses to be healed? Wilt thou be to me as a mirage that cannot be believed?

19 Therefore thus says the LORD, If you repent, then I will bring you back again, and you shall stand before me; and if you bring forth the precious words and not the vile, you shall be as my mouth, says the LORD; the people shall turn to you; but you shall not turn to them.

20 I have made you to this people as a fortified wall of brass; and they shall fight against you. but they shall not prevail; for I am with you to save you and to deliver you, says the LORD.

21 And I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and I will save you from the hand of the mighty.
