2 And he sent7971 853 Eliakim,471 who834 was over5921 the household,1004 and Shebna7644 the scribe,5608 and the elders2205 of the priests3548 covered3680 with sackcloth,8242 unto413 Isaiah3470 the prophet5030 the son1121 of Amoz.531

3 And they said559 unto413 him, Thus3541 saith559 Hezekiah,2396 This2088 day3117 is a day3117 of trouble,6869 and of rebuke,8433 and of blasphemy:5007 for3588 the children1121 are come935 to5704 the birth,4866 and there is not369 strength3581 to bring forth.3205

6 And Isaiah3470 said559 unto413 them, Thus3541 shall ye say559 unto413 your master,113 Thus3541 saith559 the LORD,3068 Be not afraid3372 408 of4480 6440 the words1697 that834 thou hast heard,8085 wherewith834 the servants5288 of the king4428 of Assyria804 have blasphemed1442 me.

7 Behold,2009 I will send5414 a blast7307 upon him, and he shall hear8085 a rumor,8052 and return7725 to413 his own land;776 and I will cause him to fall5307 by the sword2719 in his own land.776

8 So Rab-shakeh7262 returned,7725 and found4672 853 the king4428 of Assyria804 warring3898 against5921 Libnah:3841 for3588 he had heard8085 that3588 he was departed5265 from Lachish.4480 3923

9 And he heard8085 say559 concerning5921 Tirhakah8640 king4428 of Ethiopia,3568 He is come forth3318 to make war3898 with854 thee. And when he heard8085 it, he sent7971 messengers4397 to413 Hezekiah,2396 saying,559

10 Thus3541 shall ye speak559 to413 Hezekiah2396 king4428 of Judah,3063 saying,559 Let not408 thy God,430 in whom834 thou859 trustest,982 deceive5377 thee, saying,559 Jerusalem3389 shall not3808 be given5414 into the hand3027 of the king4428 of Assyria.804

11 Behold,2009 thou859 hast heard8085 what834 the kings4428 of Assyria804 have done6213 to all3605 lands776 by destroying them utterly;2763 and shalt thou859 be delivered?5337

12 Have the gods430 of the nations1471 delivered5337 them which834 my fathers1 have destroyed,7843 as853 Gozan,1470 and Haran,2771 and Rezeph,7530 and the children1121 of Eden5729 which834 were in Telassar?8515

13 Where346 is the king4428 of Hamath,2574 and the king4428 of Arphad,774 and the king4428 of the city5892 of Sepharvaim,5617 Hena,2012 and Ivah?5755

14 And Hezekiah2396 received3947 853 the letter5612 from the hand4480 3027 of the messengers,4397 and read7121 it: and Hezekiah2396 went up5927 unto the house1004 of the LORD,3068 and spread6566 it before6440 the LORD.3068

15 And Hezekiah2396 prayed6419 unto413 the LORD,3068 saying,559

16 O LORD3068 of hosts,6635 God430 of Israel,3478 that dwellest3427 between the cherubims,3742 thou859 art the God,430 even thou alone,905 of all3605 the kingdoms4467 of the earth:776 thou859 hast made6213 853 heaven8064 and earth.776

17 Incline5186 thine ear,241 O LORD,3068 and hear;8085 open6491 thine eyes,5869 O LORD,3068 and see:7200 and hear8085 853 all3605 the words1697 of Sennacherib,5576 which834 hath sent7971 to reproach2778 the living2416 God.430

18 Of a truth,551 LORD,3068 the kings4428 of Assyria804 have laid waste2717 853 all3605 the nations,776 and their countries,776

19 And have cast5414 853 their gods430 into the fire:784 for3588 they1992 were no3808 gods,430 but3588 518 the work4639 of men's120 hands,3027 wood6086 and stone:68 therefore they have destroyed6 them.

20 Now6258 therefore, O LORD3068 our God,430 save3467 us from his hand,4480 3027 that all3605 the kingdoms4467 of the earth776 may know3045 that3588 thou859 art the LORD,3068 even thou only.905

21 Then Isaiah3470 the son1121 of Amoz531 sent7971 unto413 Hezekiah,2396 saying,559 Thus3541 saith559 the LORD3068 God430 of Israel,3478 Whereas834 thou hast prayed6419 to413 me against413 Sennacherib5576 king4428 of Assyria: 804

22 This2088 is the word1697 which834 the LORD3068 hath spoken1696 concerning5921 him; The virgin,1330 the daughter1323 of Zion,6726 hath despised936 thee, and laughed thee to scorn;3932 the daughter1323 of Jerusalem3389 hath shaken5128 her head7218 at310 thee.

23 853 Whom4310 hast thou reproached2778 and blasphemed?1442 and against5921 whom4310 hast thou exalted7311 thy voice,6963 and lifted up5375 thine eyes5869 on high?4791 even against413 the Holy One6918 of Israel.3478

24 By3027 thy servants5650 hast thou reproached2778 the Lord,136 and hast said,559 By the multitude7230 of my chariots7393 am I589 come up5927 to the height4791 of the mountains,2022 to the sides3411 of Lebanon;3844 and I will cut down3772 the tall6967 cedars730 thereof, and the choice4005 fir trees1265 thereof: and I will enter935 into the height4791 of his border,7093 and the forest3293 of his Carmel.3759

25 I589 have digged,6979 and drunk8354 water;4325 and with the sole3709 of my feet6471 have I dried up2717 all3605 the rivers2975 of the besieged places.4693

26 Hast thou not3808 heard8085 long ago,4480 7350 how I have done6213 it; and of ancient6924 times,4480 3117 that I have formed3335 it? now6258 have I brought it to pass,935 that thou shouldest be1961 to lay waste7582 defensed1219 cities5892 into ruinous5327 heaps.1530

27 Therefore their inhabitants3427 were of small7116 power,3027 they were dismayed2865 and confounded:954 they were1961 as the grass6212 of the field,7704 and as the green3419 herb,1877 as the grass2682 on the housetops,1406 and as corn blasted7711 before6440 it be grown up.7054

28 But I know3045 thy abode,3427 and thy going out,3318 and thy coming in,935 and thy rage7264 against413 me.

29 Because3282 thy rage7264 against413 me, and thy tumult,7600 is come up5927 into mine ears,241 therefore will I put7760 my hook2397 in thy nose,639 and my bridle4964 in thy lips,8193 and I will turn thee back7725 by the way1870 by which834 thou camest.935

30 And this2088 shall be a sign226 unto thee, Ye shall eat398 this year8141 such as groweth of itself;5599 and the second8145 year8141 that which springeth of the same:7823 and in the third7992 year8141 sow2232 ye, and reap,7114 and plant5193 vineyards,3754 and eat398 the fruit6529 thereof.

31 And the remnant7604 that is escaped6413 of the house1004 of Judah3063 shall again3254 take root8328 downward,4295 and bear6213 fruit6529 upward: 4605

32 For3588 out of Jerusalem4480 3389 shall go forth3318 a remnant,7611 and they that escape6413 out of mount4480 2022 Zion:6726 the zeal7068 of the LORD3068 of hosts6635 shall do6213 this.2063

33 Therefore3651 thus3541 saith559 the LORD3068 concerning413 the king4428 of Assyria,804 He shall not3808 come935 into413 this2063 city,5892 nor3808 shoot3384 an arrow2671 there,8033 nor3808 come before6923 it with shields,4043 nor3808 cast8210 a bank5550 against5921 it.

34 By the way1870 that834 he came,935 by the same shall he return,7725 and shall not3808 come935 into413 this2063 city,5892 saith5002 the LORD.3068

35 For I will defend1598 5921 this2063 city5892 to save3467 it for mine own sake,4616 and for my servant5650 David's1732 sake.4616

36 Then the angel4397 of the LORD3068 went forth,3318 and smote5221 in the camp4264 of the Assyrians804 a hundred3967 and fourscore8084 and five2568 thousand:505 and when they arose early7925 in the morning,1242 behold,2009 they were all3605 dead4191 corpses.6297

37 So Sennacherib5576 king4428 of Assyria804 departed,5265 and went1980 and returned,7725 and dwelt3427 at Nineveh.5210

38 And it came to pass,1961 as he1931 was worshiping7812 in the house1004 of Nisroch5268 his god,430 that Adrammelech152 and Sharezer8272 his sons1121 smote5221 him with the sword;2719 and they1992 escaped4422 into the land776 of Armenia:780 and Esar-haddon634 his son1121 reigned4427 in his stead.8478

3 daß sie559 zu ihm sprächen: So spricht559 Hiskia2396: Das ist935 ein Tag3117 des Trübsals, Scheltens8433 und Lästerns5007, und gehet gleich, als wenn3117 die Kinder1121 bis an die Geburt4866 kommen sind, und ist keine Kraft3581 da zu gebären3205.

4 Daß doch der HErr3068, dein GOtt430, hören wollte die Worte1697 des Erzschenken7262, welchen sein Herr113, der König4428 zu8085 Assyrien804, gesandt7971 hat8085, zu lästern2778 den lebendigen2416 GOtt430 und zu schelten mit solchen Worten1697, wie der HErr3068, dein GOtt430, gehört hat3198! Und du wollest dein Gebet8605 erheben5375 für die Übrigen7611, die noch vorhanden sind4672.

5 Und die Knechte5650 des Königs4428 Hiskia2396 kamen935 zu Jesaja3470.

6 Jesaja3470 aber sprach559 zu8085 ihnen: So saget eurem Herrn3068: Der HErr113 spricht559 also: Fürchte3372 dich nicht vor den Worten, die du559 gehört hast1697, mit welchen mich6440 die Knaben5288 des Königs4428 zu Assyrien804 geschmähet haben1442.

7 Siehe, ich will5307 ihm einen andern Mut7307 machen5414, und soll etwas8052 hören8085, daß er wieder7725 heimziehe in sein Land776; und will ihn durchs Schwert2719 fällen in seinem Lande776.

8 Da aber der Erzschenke7262 wiederkam7725, fand4672 er den König4428 zu8085 Assyrien804 streiten3898 wider Libna3841; denn er hatte gehört, daß er von Lachis3923 gezogen5265 war.

9 Denn es kam8085 ein Gerücht von3318 Thirhaka8640, der Mohren3568 Könige4428, sagend559: Er7971 ist ausgezogen, wider dich zu8085 streiten3898.

10 Da er nun solches hörete, sandte er Boten zu Hiskia2396 und ließ ihm sagen559: Saget Hiskia, dem Könige4428 Judas, also: Laß dich982 deinen GOtt430 nicht betrügen5377, auf den du559 dich verlässest und sprichst559: Jerusalem3389 wird nicht in die Hand3027 des Königs4428 zu Assyrien804 gegeben5414 werden.

11 Siehe, du hast8085 gehört, was die Könige4428 zu Assyrien804 getan6213 haben allen Landen776 und sie2763 verbannet; und du solltest errettet werden5337?

12 Haben auch5337 die Götter430 der Heiden1471 die Länder errettet, welche meine Väter1 verderbet7843 haben, als Gosan1470, Haran2771, Rezeph7530 und die Kinder1121 Eden5729 zu Thelassar8515?

13 Wo ist der König4428 zu Hamath2574 und der König4428 zu Arpad774 und der König4428 der Stadt5892 Sepharvaim5617, Hena2012 und Iwa5755?

14 Und da Hiskia2396 den Brief5612 von3027 den Boten4397 empfangen3947 und gelesen hatte, ging5927 er7121 hinauf in das Haus1004 des HErrn3068 und breitete6566 ihn aus vor6440 dem HErrn3068.

15 Und Hiskia2396 betete6419 zum HErrn3068 und sprach559:

16 HErr3068 Zebaoth6635, du GOtt430 Israels3478, der du über den Cherubim3742 sitzest3427, du bist alleine GOtt430 über alle Königreiche4467 auf Erden776; du hast Himmel8064 und Erde776 gemacht6213.

17 HErr3068, neige5186 deine Ohren241 und höre doch! HErr3068, tue deine Augen5869 auf6491 und siehe7200 doch! Höre doch alle die Worte1697 Sanheribs5576, die er gesandt7971 hat8085, zu8085 schmähen2778 den lebendigen2416 GOtt430!

18 Wahr551 ist‘s, HErr3068, die Könige4428 zu Assyrien804 haben2717 wüste gemacht alle Königreiche776 samt ihren Landen776

19 und haben ihre Götter430 ins3027 Feuer784 geworfen; denn sie5414 waren nicht Götter430, sondern Menschenhände120 Werk4639, Holz6086 und Stein68. Die sind umgebracht6.

20 Nun aber, HErr3068, unser GOtt430, hilf3467 uns von seiner Hand3027, auf daß alle Königreiche4467, auf Erden776 erfahren3045, daß du HErr3068 seiest alleine.

21 Da sandte Jesaja3470, der Sohn1121 Amoz531, zu Hiskia2396 und ließ7971 ihm sagen559: So spricht der HErr3068, der GOtt430 Israels3478: Daß du559 mich gebeten hast6419 des Königs4428 Sanherib5576 halben zu Assyrien804,

22 so ist das1697, das der HErr3068 von ihm redet1696: Die Jungfrau1330 Tochter1323 Zion6726 verachtet959 dich und spottet3932 dein, und die Tochter1323 Jerusalem3389 schüttelt5128 das Haupt7218 dir nach310.

23 Wen hast2778 du geschmähet und gelästert1442? Über wen hast5375 du die Stimme6963 erhoben4791? und hebest deine Augen5869 empor7311 wider den Heiligen6918 in Israel3478.

24 Durch935 deine Knechte5650 hast du559 den HErrn136 geschändet2778 und sprichst: Ich bin durch die Menge7230 meiner Wagen7393 herauf gezogen auf5927 die Höhe4791 der Berge2022 an3027 den Seiten Libanons3844 und habe3772 seine hohen4791 Zedern730 abgehauen samt seinen auserwählten4005 Tannen1265 und bin durch die Höhe6967 bis ans Ende7093 kommen, an diesen Wald3293 auf dem Lande.

25 Ich habe gegraben6979 und getrunken8354 die4693 Wasser4325 und habe mit meinen Fußsohlen3709 ausgetrocknet alle verwahrten Wasser2975.

26 Hast8085 du3335 aber nicht gehört, daß ich vorzeiten also getan6213 habe935 und vor6924 alters so gehandelt und tue jetzt3117 auch also, daß feste1219 Städte5892 zerstöret werden7582 zu Steinhaufen5327,

27 und ihre Einwohner3427 geschwächt und zaghaft2865 werden3027 und mit Schanden bestehen und werden954 zu Feldgras und zu grünem Kraut6212, als Heu2682 auf6440 den Dächern1406, welches dorret, ehe denn es reif wird7054?

28 Ich kenne3045 aber deine Wohnung3427, deinen Auszug und3318 Einzug und935 dein Toben7264 wider mich.

29 Weil du denn wider mich tobest und dein Stolz7600 herauf5927 vor meine Ohren241 kommen ist7760, will935 ich dir einen Ring2397 an8193 die Nase639 legen und ein Gebiß4964 in dein Maul und will dich des Weges1870 wieder7725 heimführen, des du kommen bist.

30 Das sei dir aber das Zeichen226: Iß398 dies Jahr8141, was zertreten ist, das, andere8145 Jahr8141, was selbst wächset; des dritten7992 Jahrs säet2232 und erntet7114, pflanzet5193 Weinberge3754 und esset398 ihre Früchte6529.

31 Denn die Erretteten7604 vom Hause1004 Juda3063 und6213 die überbleiben werden noch3254 wiederum unter4295 sich wurzeln8328 und über4605 sich Frucht6529 tragen.

32 Denn von3318 Jerusalem3389 werden noch ausgehen, die überblieben sind7611, und die Erretteten6413 von dem Berge2022 Zion6726. Solches wird tun6213 der Eifer7068 des HErrn3068 Zebaoth6635.

33 Darum spricht der HErr3068 also vom Könige4428 zu Assyrien804: Er3384 soll nicht kommen935 in diese Stadt5892 und soll auch keinen Pfeil2671 daselbst hinschießen und kein Schild4043 davor kommen6923 und soll keinen Wall5550 um sie559 schütten8210,

34 sondern des Weges1870, des er kommen ist935, soll er wiederkehren7725, daß er in diese Stadt5892 nicht komme935, spricht5002 der HErr3068.

35 Denn ich will diese Stadt5892 schützen1598, daß ich ihr aushelfe3467 um, meinetwillen und5650 um meines Dieners Davids1732 willen.

36 Da fuhr aus3318 der Engel4397 des HErrn3068 und3967 schlug5221 im assyrischen804 Lager4264 hundertundfünfundachtzigtausend Mann. Und da sie sich7925 des Morgens1242 früh aufmachten, siehe, da lag es alles505 eitel tote4191 Leichname6297.

37 Und der König4428 zu Assyrien804, Sanherib5576, brach auf, zog5265 weg3212 und kehrete wieder7725 heim und blieb3427 zu Ninive5210.

38 Es begab sich7812 auch, da er anbetete im Hause1004 Nisrochs5268, seines Gottes430, schlugen5221 ihn seine Söhne1121 Adramelech und Sarezer8272 mit dem Schwert2719; und sie flohen4422 ins Land776 Ararat780. Und sein Sohn1121 Assar-Haddon634 ward König4427 an seiner Statt.

33 Darum spricht der HErr3068 also vom Könige4428 zu Assyrien804: Er3384 soll nicht kommen935 in diese Stadt5892 und soll auch keinen Pfeil2671 daselbst hinschießen und kein Schild4043 davor kommen6923 und soll keinen Wall5550 um sie559 schütten8210,

34 By the way1870 that834 he came,935 by the same shall he return,7725 and shall not3808 come935 into413 this2063 city,5892 saith5002 the LORD.3068

34 sondern des Weges1870, des er kommen ist935, soll er wiederkehren7725, daß er in diese Stadt5892 nicht komme935, spricht5002 der HErr3068.
