Chapter 9

1 And he entered1684 into1519 a ship,4143 and passed1276 over,1276 and came2064 into1519 his own2398 city.4172

2 And, behold,2400 they brought4374 to him a man sick3885 of the palsy,3885 lying906 on1909 a bed:2825 and Jesus2424 seeing1492 their faith4102 said4483 to the sick3885 of the palsy;3885 Son,5043 be of good cheer;2293 your sins266 be forgiven863 you.

3 And, behold,2400 certain5100 of the scribes1122 said4483 within1722 themselves,1438 This3778 man blasphemes.987

4 And Jesus2424 knowing1492 their thoughts1761 said,4483 Why2443 5101 think1760 you evil4190 in your5216 hearts?2588

5 For whether5101 is easier,2123 to say,2036 Your sins266 be forgiven863 you; or2228 to say,2036 Arise,1453 and walk?4043

6 But that you may know1492 that the Son5207 of man444 has2192 power1849 on1909 earth1093 to forgive863 sins,266 (then5119 said3004 he to the sick3885 of the palsy,3885) Arise,1453 take142 up your bed,2825 and go5217 to your4675 house.3624

7 And he arose,1453 and departed565 to his house.3624

8 But when the multitudes3793 saw1492 it, they marveled,2296 and glorified1392 God,2316 which3588 had given1325 such5108 power1849 to men.444

9 And as Jesus2424 passed3855 forth3855 from there,1564 he saw1492 a man,444 named3004 Matthew,3156 sitting2521 at1909 the receipt5058 of custom:5058 and he said3004 to him, Follow190 me. And he arose,450 and followed190 him.

10 And it came1096 to pass, as Jesus2424 sat345 at345 meat in the house,3614 behold,2400 many4183 publicans5057 and sinners268 came2064 and sat4873 down347 with him and his disciples.3101

11 And when the Pharisees5330 saw1492 it, they said4483 to his disciples,3101 Why1302 eats2068 your5216 Master1320 with publicans5057 and sinners?268

12 But when Jesus2424 heard191 that, he said4483 to them, They that be whole2480 need2192 5532 not a physician,2395 but they that are sick.2192 2560

13 But go4198 you and learn3129 what5101 that means,2076 I will2309 have mercy,1656 and not sacrifice:2378 for I am not come2064 to call2564 the righteous,1342 but sinners268 to repentance.3341

14 Then5119 came4334 to him the disciples3101 of John,2491 saying,3004 Why1302 do we and the Pharisees5330 fast3522 oft,4183 but your disciples3101 fast3522 not?

15 And Jesus2424 said4483 to them, Can1410 the children5207 of the bridal chamber3567 mourn,3996 as long1909 as the bridegroom3566 is with them? but the days2250 will come,2064 when3752 the bridegroom3566 shall be taken522 from them, and then5119 shall they fast.3522

16 No3762 man3762 puts1911 a piece1915 of new46 cloth4470 to an old3820 garment,2440 for that which is put in to fill4138 it up takes142 from the garment,2440 and the rent4978 is made1096 worse.5501

17 Neither3761 do men put906 new3501 wine3631 into1519 old3820 bottles:779 else1490 the bottles779 break,4486 and the wine3631 runs1632 out, and the bottles779 perish:622 but they put906 new3501 wine3631 into1519 new2537 bottles,779 and both297 are preserved.4933

18 While he spoke2980 these5023 things to them, behold,2400 there came2064 a certain ruler,758 and worshipped4352 him, saying,3004 My daughter2364 is even737 now737 dead:5053 but come2064 and lay2007 your hand5495 on her, and she shall live.2198

19 And Jesus2424 arose,1453 and followed190 him, and so did his disciples.3101

20 And, behold,2400 a woman,1135 which was diseased with an issue131 of blood131 twelve1427 years,2094 came4334 behind3693 him, and touched680 the hem2899 of his garment:2440

21 For she said3004 within1722 herself,1438 If1437 I may but touch680 his garment,2440 I shall be whole.4982

22 But Jesus2424 turned1994 him about,1994 and when he saw1492 her, he said,2036 Daughter,2364 be of good comfort;2293 your faith4102 has made4982 you whole.4982 And the woman1135 was made4982 whole4982 from that hour.5610

23 And when Jesus2424 came2064 into1519 the ruler's758 house,3614 and saw1492 the minstrels834 and the people3793 making2350 a noise,2350

24 He said3004 to them, Give402 place:402 for the maid2877 is not dead,599 but sleeps.2518 And they laughed2606 him to scorn.2606

25 But when3753 the people3793 were put1544 forth,1544 he went1525 in, and took2902 her by the hand,5495 and the maid2877 arose.1453

26 And the fame5345 hereof3778 went1831 abroad1831 into1519 all3650 that land.1093

27 And when Jesus2424 departed3855 there,1564 two1417 blind5185 men followed190 him, crying,2896 and saying,3004 You son5207 of David,1138 have mercy1653 on us.

28 And when he was come2064 into1519 the house,3614 the blind5185 men came4334 to him: and Jesus2424 said3004 to them, Believe4100 you that I am able1410 to do4160 this?5124 They said3004 to him, Yes,3483 Lord.2962

29 Then5119 touched680 he their eyes,3788 saying,3004 According2596 to your5216 faith4102 be it to you.

30 And their eyes3788 were opened;455 and Jesus2424 straightly charged1690 them, saying,3004 See3708 that no3762 man3367 know1097 it.

31 But they, when they were departed,1831 spread1310 abroad1310 his fame1310 in all3650 that country.1093

32 As they went1831 out, behold,2400 they brought4374 to him a dumb2974 man444 possessed1139 with a devil.1139

33 And when the devil1140 was cast1544 out, the dumb2974 spoke:2980 and the multitudes3793 marveled,2296 saying,3004 It was never3763 so3779 seen5316 in Israel.2474

34 But the Pharisees5330 said,3004 He casts1544 out devils1140 through1722 the prince758 of the devils.1140

35 And Jesus2424 went4013 about4013 all3956 the cities4172 and villages,2968 teaching1321 in their synagogues,4864 and preaching2784 the gospel2098 of the kingdom,932 and healing2323 every3956 sickness3554 and every3956 disease3119 among1722 the people.2992

36 But when he saw1492 the multitudes,3793 he was moved4697 with compassion4697 on4012 them, because3754 they fainted,1590 and were scattered4496 abroad,4496 as sheep4263 having2192 no3361 shepherd.4166

37 Then5119 said3004 he to his disciples,3101 The harvest2326 truly3303 is plenteous,4183 but the laborers2040 are few;3641

38 Pray1189 you therefore3767 the Lord2962 of the harvest,2326 that he will send1544 forth1544 laborers2040 into1519 his harvest.2326

Chapter 9

1 SO he went up into the boat, and crossed over and came to his own city.

2 And they brought to him a paralytic, lying on a quilt-bed; and Jesus saw their faith, and he said to the paralytic, Have courage, my son; your sins have been forgiven.

3 Some of the scribes said among themselves, This man blasphemes.

4 But Jesus knew their thoughts; so he said to them, Why do you think evil in your hearts?

5 For which is easier to say, Your sins have been forgiven, or to say, Arise and walk?

6 But that you might know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins, then he said to the paralytic, Arise, take up your quilt-bed, and go to your home.

7 And he rose up and went to his home.

8 But when the crowds saw it, they were frightened, and they glorified God, because he had given such power as this to men.

9 And as Jesus passed from that place, he saw a man whose name was Matthew, sitting in the custom house, and he said to him, Follow me; and he got up and went after him.

10 And while they were guests in the house, a great many publicans and sinners came, and they sat as guests with Jesus and with his disciples.

11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, Why does your master eat with publicans and sinners?

12 But when Jesus heard it, he said to them, Those who are well need no doctor, but those who are seriously sick.

13 Go and learn what this means, I want mercy and not sacrifice; for I came not to invite righteous men, but sinners.

14 Then the disciples of John came up to him, and said, Why do we and the Pharisees fast a great deal, and your disciples never fast?

15 Jesus said to them, Is it possible for those at the wedding feast to fast as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days are coming, when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and then they will fast.

16 No man puts a new patch on an old garment, so as not to weaken that garment, and make the hole larger.

17 Neither do they pour new wine into worn out skins, so as not to rend the skins, and spill the wine, and the wine runs out, and the skins are ruined; but they pour new wine into new skins, and both of them are well preserved.

18 While he was speaking these things with them, a leader of the synagogue came near and worshipped him; and he said, My daughter has just died, but come and put your hand on her and she will live.

19 And Jesus and his disciples rose up and went with him.

20 And behold a woman who had had the hemorrhage for twelve years, came up from behind him, and she touched the edge of his cloak;

21 For she was saying to herself, If I can only touch his garment, I will be healed.

22 And Jesus turned around and saw her and said to her, Have courage, my daughter, your faith has healed you; and the woman was healed in that very hour.

23 So Jesus arrived at the house of the synagogue leader, and saw the singers and the excited crowds.

24 And he said to them, That is enough; for the little girl is not dead, but she is asleep; and they laughed at him.

25 But when he had put the people out, he went in and held her by her hand, and the little girl got up.

26 And this news spread all over that country.

27 And as Jesus passed from there, he was delayed by two blind men, who were crying out and saying, Have mercy on us, O son of David.

28 And when he came into the house, the same blind men came up to him. Jesus said to them, Do you believe that I can do this? They said to him, Yes, our Lord.

29 Then he touched their eyes and said, Let it be to you according to your faith.

30 And immediately their eyes were opened; and Jesus charged them and said, See that no one knows it.

31 But they went out and spread the news all over that country.

32 And when Jesus went out, they brought to him a dumb man who was demented.

33 And as soon as he was restored, the dumb man spoke, and the people were amazed and said, Such a thing has never been seen in Israel.

34 But the Pharisees said, He is casting out devils by the help of the prince of devils.

35 And Jesus travelled in all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of sickness and disease.

36 When Jesus saw the multitudes, he had compassion on them, because they were tired out and scattered, like sheep which have no shepherd.

37 So he said to his disciples, The harvest is great, and the laborers are few;

38 Therefore urge the owner of the harvest to bring more laborers to his harvest.

1 And he entered1684 into1519 a ship,4143 and passed1276 over,1276 and came2064 into1519 his own2398 city.4172

1 SO he went up into the boat, and crossed over and came to his own city.

12 But when Jesus2424 heard191 that, he said4483 to them, They that be whole2480 need2192 5532 not a physician,2395 but they that are sick.2192 2560

12 But when Jesus heard it, he said to them, Those who are well need no doctor, but those who are seriously sick.

13 But go4198 you and learn3129 what5101 that means,2076 I will2309 have mercy,1656 and not sacrifice:2378 for I am not come2064 to call2564 the righteous,1342 but sinners268 to repentance.3341

13 Go and learn what this means, I want mercy and not sacrifice; for I came not to invite righteous men, but sinners.

14 Then5119 came4334 to him the disciples3101 of John,2491 saying,3004 Why1302 do we and the Pharisees5330 fast3522 oft,4183 but your disciples3101 fast3522 not?

14 Then the disciples of John came up to him, and said, Why do we and the Pharisees fast a great deal, and your disciples never fast?

15 Jesus said to them, Is it possible for those at the wedding feast to fast as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days are coming, when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and then they will fast.

16 No3762 man3762 puts1911 a piece1915 of new46 cloth4470 to an old3820 garment,2440 for that which is put in to fill4138 it up takes142 from the garment,2440 and the rent4978 is made1096 worse.5501

18 While he was speaking these things with them, a leader of the synagogue came near and worshipped him; and he said, My daughter has just died, but come and put your hand on her and she will live.

19 And Jesus2424 arose,1453 and followed190 him, and so did his disciples.3101

19 And Jesus and his disciples rose up and went with him.

20 And, behold,2400 a woman,1135 which was diseased with an issue131 of blood131 twelve1427 years,2094 came4334 behind3693 him, and touched680 the hem2899 of his garment:2440

21 For she was saying to herself, If I can only touch his garment, I will be healed.

22 But Jesus2424 turned1994 him about,1994 and when he saw1492 her, he said,2036 Daughter,2364 be of good comfort;2293 your faith4102 has made4982 you whole.4982 And the woman1135 was made4982 whole4982 from that hour.5610

22 And Jesus turned around and saw her and said to her, Have courage, my daughter, your faith has healed you; and the woman was healed in that very hour.

23 And when Jesus2424 came2064 into1519 the ruler's758 house,3614 and saw1492 the minstrels834 and the people3793 making2350 a noise,2350

23 So Jesus arrived at the house of the synagogue leader, and saw the singers and the excited crowds.

24 He said3004 to them, Give402 place:402 for the maid2877 is not dead,599 but sleeps.2518 And they laughed2606 him to scorn.2606

24 And he said to them, That is enough; for the little girl is not dead, but she is asleep; and they laughed at him.

25 But when3753 the people3793 were put1544 forth,1544 he went1525 in, and took2902 her by the hand,5495 and the maid2877 arose.1453

25 But when he had put the people out, he went in and held her by her hand, and the little girl got up.

26 And the fame5345 hereof3778 went1831 abroad1831 into1519 all3650 that land.1093

26 And this news spread all over that country.

27 And when Jesus2424 departed3855 there,1564 two1417 blind5185 men followed190 him, crying,2896 and saying,3004 You son5207 of David,1138 have mercy1653 on us.

27 And as Jesus passed from there, he was delayed by two blind men, who were crying out and saying, Have mercy on us, O son of David.

28 And when he was come2064 into1519 the house,3614 the blind5185 men came4334 to him: and Jesus2424 said3004 to them, Believe4100 you that I am able1410 to do4160 this?5124 They said3004 to him, Yes,3483 Lord.2962

28 And when he came into the house, the same blind men came up to him. Jesus said to them, Do you believe that I can do this? They said to him, Yes, our Lord.

29 Then5119 touched680 he their eyes,3788 saying,3004 According2596 to your5216 faith4102 be it to you.

29 Then he touched their eyes and said, Let it be to you according to your faith.

30 And their eyes3788 were opened;455 and Jesus2424 straightly charged1690 them, saying,3004 See3708 that no3762 man3367 know1097 it.

30 And immediately their eyes were opened; and Jesus charged them and said, See that no one knows it.

31 But they, when they were departed,1831 spread1310 abroad1310 his fame1310 in all3650 that country.1093

31 But they went out and spread the news all over that country.

32 As they went1831 out, behold,2400 they brought4374 to him a dumb2974 man444 possessed1139 with a devil.1139

32 And when Jesus went out, they brought to him a dumb man who was demented.

33 And when the devil1140 was cast1544 out, the dumb2974 spoke:2980 and the multitudes3793 marveled,2296 saying,3004 It was never3763 so3779 seen5316 in Israel.2474

33 And as soon as he was restored, the dumb man spoke, and the people were amazed and said, Such a thing has never been seen in Israel.

34 But the Pharisees5330 said,3004 He casts1544 out devils1140 through1722 the prince758 of the devils.1140

34 But the Pharisees said, He is casting out devils by the help of the prince of devils.

35 And Jesus travelled in all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of sickness and disease.

36 But when he saw1492 the multitudes,3793 he was moved4697 with compassion4697 on4012 them, because3754 they fainted,1590 and were scattered4496 abroad,4496 as sheep4263 having2192 no3361 shepherd.4166

36 When Jesus saw the multitudes, he had compassion on them, because they were tired out and scattered, like sheep which have no shepherd.

37 Then5119 said3004 he to his disciples,3101 The harvest2326 truly3303 is plenteous,4183 but the laborers2040 are few;3641

37 So he said to his disciples, The harvest is great, and the laborers are few;

38 Pray1189 you therefore3767 the Lord2962 of the harvest,2326 that he will send1544 forth1544 laborers2040 into1519 his harvest.2326

38 Therefore urge the owner of the harvest to bring more laborers to his harvest.
