Hebrews

Chapter 8

1 Now1161 of the things which we have spoken3004 this is the sum:2774 We have2192 such5108 an high749 priest,749 who3739 is set2523 on1722 the right1188 hand of the throne2362 of the Majesty3172 in the heavens;3772

2 A minister3011 of the sanctuary,39 and of the true228 tabernacle,4633 which3739 the Lord2962 pitched,4078 and not man.444

3 For every3956 high749 priest749 is ordained2525 to offer4374 gifts1435 and sacrifices:2378 why3606 it is of necessity316 that this5126 man have2192 somewhat5100 also2532 to offer.4374

4 For if1487 he were on1909 earth,1093 he should not be a priest,2409 seeing that there are priests2409 that offer4374 gifts1435 according2596 to the law:3551

5 Who3748 serve3000 to the example5262 and shadow4639 of heavenly2032 things, as Moses3475 was admonished5537 of God5537 when he was about3195 to make2005 the tabernacle:4633 for, See,3708 said5346 he, that you make4160 all3956 things according2596 to the pattern5179 showed1166 to you in the mount.3735

6 But now3570 has he obtained5177 a more excellent1313 ministry,3009 by how3745 much3745 also2532 he is the mediator3316 of a better2909 covenant,1242 which3748 was established3549 on better2909 promises.1860

7 For if1487 that first4413 covenant had been2258 faultless,273 then should no3756 place5117 have been sought2212 for the second.1208

8 For finding fault3201 with them, he said,3004 Behold,2400 the days2250 come,2064 said3004 the Lord,2962 when I will make4931 a new2537 covenant1242 with the house3624 of Israel2474 and with the house3624 of Judah:2455

9 Not according2596 to the covenant1242 that I made4160 with their fathers3962 in the day2250 when I took1949 them by the hand5495 to lead1806 them out of the land1093 of Egypt;125 because3754 they continued1696 not in my covenant,1242 and I regarded272 them not, said3004 the Lord.2962

10 For this3778 is the covenant1242 that I will make1303 with the house3624 of Israel2474 after3326 those1565 days,2250 said3004 the Lord;2962 I will put1325 my laws3551 into1519 their mind,1271 and write1924 them in their hearts:2588 and I will be to them a God,2316 and they shall be to me a people:2992

11 And they shall not teach1321 every1538 man his neighbor,4139 and every1538 man his brother,80 saying,3004 Know1097 the Lord:2962 for all3956 shall know1492 me, from the least3398 to the greatest.3173

12 For I will be merciful2436 to their unrighteousness,93 and their sins266 and their iniquities458 will I remember3415 no3364 more.2089

13 In that he said,3004 A new2537 covenant, he has made3822 the first4413 old.3822 Now1161 that which decays3822 and waxes1095 old1095 is ready1451 to vanish854 away.

Hebrews

Chapter 8

1 NOW above all we have a high priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven;

2 And he has become the minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which God pitched and not man.

3 For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices, therefore it is necessary that this man have something to offer also.

4 For if he were on earth, he would not be a priest, because there are priests who offer gifts according to the law:

5 Who serve the semblance and shadow of heavenly things, just as it was commanded to Moses when he was about to make the tabernacle: See that you make all things according to the pattern showed to thee in the mount.

6 But now Jesus Christ has received a ministry which is greater than that; just as the covenant in which he was made a mediator, is greater, so are the promises greater than those given in the old covenant.

7 For if the first covenant had been faultless, then there would have been no need for the second.

8 For he found fault with them, and said, Behold, the day is coming, saith the LORD, when I will perfect a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand and led them out of the land of Egypt; and because they abode not in my covenant, I rejected them, saith the LORD.

10 For this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law into their minds, and I will write it on their hearts: and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

11 And no man shall teach his neighbor, neither his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for all shall know me, from the youngest to the oldest.

12 And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will no longer remember their sins.

13 By that which he has said, With a new covenant, the first one has become old, and that which is old and obsolete is near destruction.
