1 Zu der Zeit3117 war kein König4428 in Israel3478. Und ein levitischer3881 Mann376 war Fremdling1481 an der Seite3411 des Gebirges2022 Ephraim669 und hatte3947 ihm ein Kebsweib zum Weibe genommen von Bethlehem-Juda3063.

1 And it came1961 to pass in those1992 days,3117 when there was no369 king4428 in Israel,3478 that there was a certain376 Levite3881 sojourning1481 on the side3411 of mount2022 Ephraim,669 who took3947 to him a concubine6370 out of Bethlehemjudah.1035

3 Und ihr Mann376 machte sich auf6965 und zog3212 ihr nach310, daß er freundlich3820 mit ihr redete1696 und sie wieder7725 zu sich holete; und hatte935 einen Knaben5288 und ein Paar6776 Esel2543 mit sich. Und sie führete ihn7125 in ihres Vaters1 Haus1004. Da ihn aber der Dirne5291 Vater1 sah7200, ward er froh8055 und empfing ihn.

3 And her husband376 arose,6965 and went3212 after310 her, to speak1696 friendly3820 to her, and to bring7725 her again,7725 having his servant5288 with him, and a couple6776 of asses:2543 and she brought935 him into her father's1 house:1004 and when the father1 of the damsel5291 saw7200 him, he rejoiced8055 to meet7125 him.

4 And his father2859 in law,2859 the damsel's5291 father,1 retained2388 him; and he stayed3427 with him three7969 days:3117 so they did eat398 and drink,8354 and lodged3885 there.8033

5 Des vierten7243 Tages3117 machten sie sich7925 des Morgens1242 frühe auf6965; und er stund auf und wollte ziehen3212. Da310 sprach559 der Dirne5291 Vater1 zu seinem Eidam2860: Labe5582 dein Herz3820 zuvor mit einem Bissen6595 Brots3899, danach sollt ihr ziehen3212.

5 And it came1961 to pass on the fourth7243 day,3117 when they arose7925 early7925 in the morning,1242 that he rose6965 up to depart:3212 and the damsel's5291 father1 said559 to his son2860 in law,2859 Comfort5582 your heart3820 with a morsel6595 of bread,3899 and afterward310 go3212 your way.

6 Und3190 sie setzen sich3427 und aßen398 beide8147 miteinander3162 und tranken8354. Da sprach559 der Dirne5291 Vater1 zu dem Mann376: Lieber, bleib2974 über Nacht3885 und laß dein Herz3820 guter Dinge sein.

6 And they sat3427 down, and did eat398 and drink8354 both8147 of them together:3162 for the damsel's5291 father1 had said559 to the man,376 Be content,2974 I pray4994 you, and tarry3885 all3885 night, and let your heart3820 be merry.3190

7 Da aber der Mann376 aufstund und wollte ziehen3212, nötigte6484 ihn sein7725 Schwäher, daß er über Nacht3885 da blieb.

7 And when the man376 rose6965 up to depart,3212 his father2859 in law2859 urged6484 him: therefore he lodged3885 there8033 again.7725

8 Des Morgens1242 am fünften2549 Tage3117 machte er sich7925 früh auf und wollte ziehen3212. Da sprach559 der Dirne5291 Vater1: Lieber, labe5582 dein Herz3824 und laß uns verziehen4102, bis sich5186 der Tag3117 neiget. Und aßen398 also die beiden8147 miteinander.

8 And he arose7925 early7925 in the morning1242 on the fifth2549 day3117 to depart;3212 and the damsel's5291 father1 said,559 Comfort5582 your heart,3824 I pray4994 you. And they tarried4102 until5704 afternoon,5186 3117 and they did eat398 both8147 of them.

9 Und der Mann376 machte sich2583 auf6965 und wollte ziehen3212 mit seinem Kebsweibe6370 und mit seinem Knaben5288. Aber sein Schwäher, der Dirne5291 Vater1, sprach559 zu1980 ihm2859: Siehe, der Tag3117 läßt ab7503, und will3190 Abend werden6150; bleib über Nacht3885. Siehe, hie ist Herberge noch diesen Tag3117; bleib hie über Nacht3885 und laß dein Herz3824 guter Dinge sein; morgen4279 so stehet ihr früh auf7925 und ziehet eures Weges1870 zu deiner Hütte168.

9 And when the man376 rose6965 up to depart,3212 he, and his concubine,6370 and his servant,5288 his father2859 in law,2859 the damsel's5291 father,1 said559 to him, Behold,2009 now4994 the day3117 draws7503 toward evening,6150 I pray4994 you tarry3885 all3885 night: behold,2009 the day3117 grows2583 to an end,2583 lodge3885 here,6311 that your heart3824 may be merry;3190 and to morrow4279 get you early7925 on your way,1870 that you may go1980 home.168

10 Aber der Mann376 wollte14 nicht über Nacht bleiben3885, sondern machte sich auf6965 und zog3212 hin und kam935 bis vor5227 Jebus2982, das ist, Jerusalem3389, und sein Paar6776 Esel2543 beladen2280, und sein Kebsweib6370 mit ihm.

10 But the man376 would14 not tarry3885 that night, but he rose6965 up and departed,3212 and came935 over5227 against5227 Jebus,2982 which1958 is Jerusalem;3389 and there were with him two6776 asses2543 saddled,2280 his concubine6370 also was with him.

11 Da sie5493 nun bei Jebus2982 kamen3212, fiel der Tag3117 fast dahin. Und der Knabe5288 sprach559 zu3966 seinem Herrn113: Lieber, zeuch und laß uns in diese Stadt5892 der Jebusiter2983 einkehren und über Nacht drinnen bleiben3885.

11 And when they were by Jebus,2982 the day3117 was far3966 spent;7286 and the servant5288 said559 to his master,113 Come,3212 I pray4994 you, and let us turn5493 in into413 this2063 city5892 of the Jebusites,2983 and lodge3885 in it.

12 Aber sein Herr113 sprach559 zu ihm: Wir wollen nicht5493 in5674 der Fremden5237 Stadt5892 einkehren, die nicht sind von den Kindern1121 Israel3478, sondern wollen hinüber gen Gibea1390.

12 And his master113 said559 to him, We will not turn5493 aside here into413 the city5892 of a stranger,5237 that is not of the children1121 of Israel;3478 we will pass5674 over5674 to Gibeah.1390

13 Und sprach559 zu seinem Knaben5288: Gehe3212 fort, daß wir hinzukommen7126 an einen259 Ort4725 und über Nacht zu Gibea1390 oder zu Rama7414 bleiben3885.

13 And he said559 to his servant,5288 Come,3212 and let us draw near7126 to one259 of these places4725 to lodge3885 all3885 night, in Gibeah,1390 or176 in Ramah.7414

14 Und sie zogen3212 fort und wandelten, und die Sonne8121 ging5674 ihnen unter935 hart bei681 Gibea1390, die da liegt unter Benjamin1144.

14 And they passed5674 on and went3212 their way;3212 and the sun8121 went935 down on them when they were by Gibeah,1390 which834 belongs to Benjamin.1144

15 Und sie kehreten daselbst ein5493, daß sie hineinkämen935 und über Nacht3885 zu Gibea1390 blieben. Da er376 aber hineinkam, setzte er sich3427 in der Stadt5892 Gasse7339; denn es war935 niemand, der sie die Nacht3885 im Hause1004 herbergen wollte622.

15 And they turned5493 aside thither,8033 to go935 in and to lodge3885 in Gibeah:1390 and when he went935 in, he sat3427 him down in a street7339 of the city:5892 for there was no369 man376 that took622 them into his house1004 to lodging.3885

16 Und2205 siehe, da kam ein376 alter Mann376 von seiner Arbeit4639 vom Felde7704 am Abend6153; und er war auch vom Gebirge2022 Ephraim669 und ein Fremdling1481 zu Gibea1390; aber die Leute582 des Orts4725 waren935 Kinder Jemini.

16 And, behold,2009 there came935 an old2205 man376 from his work4639 out of the field7704 at even,6153 which was also of mount2022 Ephraim;669 and he sojourned1481 in Gibeah:1390 but the men582 of the place4725 were Benjamites.1145

17 Und5892 da er376 seine Augen5869 aufhub und2205 sah7200 den Gast732 auf5375 der Gasse7339, sprach559 er zu ihm: Wo370 willst du hin3212? und wo kommst du her935?

17 And when he had lifted5375 up his eyes,5869 he saw7200 a wayfaring732 man376 in the street7339 of the city:5892 and the old2205 man376 said,559 Where575 go3212 you? and from where370 come935 you?

18 Er376 aber antwortete559 ihm: Wir reisen3212 von Bethlehem-Juda3063, bis wir kommen5674 an die Seite3411 des Gebirges2022 Ephraim669, daher ich bin1980; und1004 bin gen Bethlehem-Juda3063 gezogen und ziehe jetzt zum Hause1004 des HErrn3068, und niemand will mich herbergen.

18 And he said559 to him, We are passing5674 from Bethlehemjudah1035 toward5704 the side3411 of mount2022 Ephraim;669 from there8033 am I: and I went3212 to Bethlehemjudah,1035 but I am now going1980 to the house1004 of the LORD;3068 and there is no369 man376 that receives622 me to house.1004

19 Wir haben3426 Stroh8401 und Futter4554 für unsere Esel2543 und Brot3899 und Wein3196 für mich und deine Magd519 und für den Knaben5288, der mit deinem Knechte5650 ist, daß uns nichts1697 gebricht4270.

19 Yet1571 there is both1571 straw8401 and provender4554 for our asses;2543 and there is bread3899 and wine3196 also1571 for me, and for your handmaid,519 and for the young5288 man which is with your servants:5650 there is no369 want4270 of any3605 thing.1697

20 Der alte2205 Mann376 sprach559: Friede7965 sei mit dir! Alles, was dir mangelt4270, findest du bei mir; bleibe nur7535 nicht über Nacht3885 auf der Gasse7339!
|
20 And the old2205 man376 said,559 Peace7965 be with you; howsoever7535 let all3605 your wants4270 lie on me; only7535 lodge3885 not in the street.7339
|
|
21 Und führete ihn in sein935 Haus1004 und gab den Eseln Futter1101; und sie2543 wuschen7364 ihre Füße7272 und aßen398 und tranken8354.
|
21 So he brought935 him into his house,1004 and gave provender1101 to the asses:2543 and they washed7364 their feet,7272 and did eat398 and drink.8354
|
|
22 Und3190 da ihr Herz3820 nun guter Dinge war1121, siehe, da kamen935 die Leute582 der Stadt5892, böse1100 Buben, und559 umgaben5437 das Haus1004 und376 pochten1849 an die Tür1817 und sprachen559 zu dem alten2205 Manne376, dem Hauswirt: Bringe den Mann1167 heraus, der in dein Haus kommen3318 ist, daß wir582 ihn5437 erkennen3045!

22 Now as they were making their hearts3820 merry,3190 behold,2009 the men582 of the city,5892 certain582 sons1121 of Belial,1100 beset5437 the house1004 round5437 about, and beat1849 at5921 the door,1817 and spoke559 to the master1167 of the house,1004 the old2205 man,376 saying,559 Bring3318 forth3318 the man376 that came935 into413 your house,1004 that we may know3045 him.

23 Aber der Mann376, der Hauswirt1004, ging935 zu6213 ihnen heraus und376 sprach559 zu ihnen: Nicht408, meine Brüder251, tut nicht so übel7489, nachdem310 dieser Mann1167 in mein Haus1004 kommen3318 ist; tut nicht eine solche Torheit5039!

23 And the man,376 the master1167 of the house,1004 went3318 out to them, and said559 to them, No,408 my brothers,251 no, I pray4994 you, do not so wickedly;7489 seeing310 that this2088 man376 is come935 into413 my house,1004 do6213 not this2063 folly.5039

24 Siehe, ich habe6213 eine Tochter1323, noch eine Jungfrau1330, und dieser2063 ein Kebsweib6370; die will ich euch herausbringen3318, die möget ihr zuschanden machen6031 und tut6213 mit1697 ihnen5869, was euch gefällt2896; aber an diesem Manne376 tut nicht eine solche Torheit5039!

24 Behold,2009 here is my daughter1323 a maiden,1330 and his concubine;6370 them I will bring3318 out now,4994 and humble6031 you them, and do6213 with them what seems5869 good2896 to you: but to this2088 man376 do6213 not so2063 vile5039 a thing.1697

25 Aber5953 die Leute582 wollten ihm nicht14 gehorchen. Da fassete der Mann376 sein Kebsweib und brachte sie2388 zu8085 ihnen hinaus2351. Die erkannten sie6370 und zerarbeiteten sich3045 die ganze Nacht3915 bis an den Morgen1242; und da die Morgenröte7837 anbrach5927, ließen7971 sie sie gehen3318.

25 But the men582 would14 not listen8085 to him: so the man376 took2388 his concubine,6370 and brought3318 her forth3318 to them; and they knew3045 her, and abused5953 her all3605 the night3915 until5704 the morning:1242 and when the day7837 began to spring,5927 they let her go.7971

26 Da kam935 das Weib802 hart vor6437 Morgens1242 und fiel nieder5307 vor der Tür6607 am Hause1004 des Mannes376, da ihr Herr113 innen war, und lag da, bis es licht216 ward.

26 Then came935 the woman802 in the dawning6437 of the day,1242 and fell5307 down at the door6607 of the man's376 house1004 where834 8033 her lord113 was, till5704 it was light.216

27 Da nun ihr802 Herr113 des Morgens1242 aufstund und die Tür1817 auftat6605 am Hause1004 und herausging3318, daß er seines Weges1870 zöge3212, siehe, da lag5307 sein Kebsweib vor der Tor6607 des Hauses1004 und ihre Hände3027 auf6965 der Schwelle5592.

27 And her lord113 rose6965 up in the morning,1242 and opened6605 the doors1817 of the house,1004 and went3318 out to go3212 his way:1870 and, behold,2009 the woman802 his concubine6370 was fallen5307 down at the door6607 of the house,1004 and her hands3027 were on the threshold.5592

28 Er376 aber sprach559 zu ihr: Stehe auf6965, laß uns ziehen3212! Aber sie antwortete6030 nicht. Da nahm3947 er sie auf6965 den Esel2543, machte sich auf und zog3212 an seinen Ort4725.

28 And he said559 to her, Up, and let us be going.3212 But none369 answered.6030 Then the man376 took3947 her up on an ass,2543 and the man376 rose6965 up, and got3212 him to his place.4725
|

29 Als er nun heimkam1004, nahm3947 er ein Messer3979 und fassete sein935 Kebsweib und stockte sie2388 mit Bein6106 und mit allem in zwölf6240 Stücke5409 und sandte7971 sie6370 in alle Grenzen1366 Israels3478.
|
29 And when he was come935 into413 his house,1004 he took3947 a knife,3979 and laid hold2388 on his concubine,6370 and divided5408 her, together with her bones,6106 into twelve8147 6240 pieces,5409 and sent7971 her into all3605 the coasts1366 of Israel.3478

30 Wer das2063 sah7200, der sprach559: Solches ist7760 nicht geschehen noch gesehen, seit der Zeit3117 die Kinder1121 Israel3478 aus Ägyptenland776 gezogen sind, bis auf5927 diesen Tag3117. Nun bedenket euch über dem und1961 gebet Rat und saget1696 an7200!

30 And it was so, that all3605 that saw7200 it said,559 There was no3808 such2063 deed done1961 nor3808 seen7200 from the day3117 that the children1121 of Israel3478 came5927 up out of the land776 of Egypt4714 to this2088 day:3117 consider7760 of it, take advice,5779 and speak1696 your minds.
