1 Перед святом же Пасхи Ісус, знавши, що настала годи́на Йому́ перейти до Отця з цього світу, полюбивши Своїх, що на світі були́, до кінця полюбив їх.

2 Під час же вече́рі, як диявол уже був укинув у серце синові Си́мона — Юді Іскаріотському, щоб він видав Його́,

3 то Ісус, знавши те, що Отець віддав все Йому в руки, і що від Бога прийшов Він, і до Бога відходить,

4 устає від вечері, і здіймає одежу, бере рушника́ й підпері́зується.

5 Пото́му налив Він води до вмива́льниці, та й зачав обмивати ноги учням, і витирати рушнико́м, що ним був підпере́заний.

6 І підходить до Си́мона Петра, а той каже Йому: „Ти, Господи, ми́тимеш но́ги мені?“

7 Ісус відказав і промовив йому: „Що́ Я роблю́, ти не знаєш тепер, але опісля́ зрозумієш“.

8 Говорить до Нього Петро: „Ти повік мені ніг не обмиєш!“ Ісус відповів йому: „Коли́ Я не вмию тебе, — ти не матимеш частки зо Мною“.

9 До Нього проказує Си́мон Петро: „Господи, — не самі мої но́ги, а й руки та го́лову!“

10 Ісус каже йому: „Хто обмитий, тільки но́ги обмити потребу́є, бо він чистий увесь. І ви чисті, — та не всі“.

11 Бо Він знав Свого зра́дника, тому то сказав: „Ви чисті не всі“.

12 Коли ж пообмива́в їхні но́ги, і одежу Свою Він надів, засів зно́ву за стіл і промовив до них: „Чи знаєте ви, що́ Я зробив вам?

13 Ви Мене називаєте: Учитель і Госпо́дь, — і добре ви кажете, бо Я є.

14 А коли обмив ноги вам Я, Госпо́дь і Вчитель, то повинні й ви один о́дному ноги вмивати.

15 Бо то Я вам при́клада дав, щоб і ви те чинили, як Я вам учинив.

16 Поправді, поправді кажу́ вам: Раб не більший за пана свого́, послане́ць же не більший від того, хто вислав його.

17 Коли знаєте це, то блаженні ви, якщо таке чините!

18 Не про всіх вас кажу́. Знаю Я, кого вибрав, але щоб збуло́ся Писа́ння: „Хто хліб споживає зо Мною, підняв той на Мене п'яту́ свою!“

19 Уже тепер вам кажу́, перше ніж те настане, щоб як станеться, ви ввірували, що то Я.

20 Поправді, поправді кажу́ вам: Хто приймає Мого посланця́, той приймає Мене; хто ж приймає Мене, той приймає Того, Хто послав Мене!“

21 Промовивши це, затривожився духом Ісус, і осві́дчив, говорячи: „Поправді, поправді кажу́ вам, що один із вас видасть Мене!“

22 І озиралися учні один на одно́го, непевними бувши, про кого Він каже.

23 При столі, при Ісусовім лоні, був один з Його учнів, якого любив Ісус.

24 От цьому кивну́в Си́мон Петро та й шепну́в: „Запитай, — хто б то був, що про нього Він каже?“

25 І, пригорну́вшись до ло́ня Ісусового, той говорить до Нього: „Хто́ це, Господи?“

26 Ісус же відказує: „Це той, кому, умочивши, подам Я куска́“. І, вмочивши куска́, подав синові Си́мона, — Юді Іскаріо́тському!

27 За тим же куско́м тоді в нього ввійшов сатана́. А Ісус йому каже: „Що́ ти робиш — роби швидше“.

28 Але жоден із тих, хто був при столі, того не зрозумів, до чо́го сказав Він йому.

29 А тому́, що тримав Юда скриньку на гроші, то деякі ду́мали, ніби каже до нього Ісус: „Купи, що потрібно на свято для нас“, або щоб убогим подав що.

30 А той, узявши кусок хліба, зараз вийшов. Була ж ніч.

31 Тоді, як він вийшов, промовляє Ісус: „Тепер ось просла́вивсь Син Лю́дський, і в Ньому просла́вився Бог.

32 Коли в Ньому прославився Бог, то і Його Бог просла́вить у Собі, і зараз прославить Його!

33 Мої дітоньки, не довго вже бути Мені з вами! Ви шукати Мене будете, але́ — як сказав Я юдеям: „Куди Я йду, туди ви прибути не можете“, — те й вам говорю́ Я тепер.

34 Нову́ заповідь Я вам даю: Любіть один о́дного! Як Я вас полюбив, так любіть один о́дного й ви!

35 По то́му пізнають усі, що ви учні Мої, як бу́дете мати любов між собою“.

36 А Симон Петро Йому каже: „Куди, Господи, ідеш Ти?“ Ісус відповів: „Куди Я йду, туди ти́ тепер іти за Мною не можеш, але по́тім ти підеш за Мною“.

37 Говорить до Нього Петро: „Чому, Господи, іти за Тобою тепер я не мо́жу? За Те́бе я душу свою́ покладу́!“

38 Ісус відповідає: За Ме́не покладе́ш ти душу свою́? Поправді, поправді кажу́ Я тобі: Півень не заспіває, як ти тричі зречешся Мене́.

Chapter 13

1 NOW before the feast of the passover, Jesus knew the hour had come to depart from this world to his Father. And he loved his own who were in this world, and he loved them unto the end.

2 During supper, Satan put into the heart of Judas, son of Simon of Iscariot, to deliver him.

3 But Jesus, because he knew that the Father had given everything into his hands, and that he came from God, and was going to God,

4 He rose from supper and laid aside his robes; and he took an apron and tied it around his loins.

5 Then he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the feet of his disciples, and to wipe them with the apron which was tied around his loins.

6 When he came to Simon Peter, Simon said to him, You, my Lord, are you going to wash my feet?

7 Jesus answered and said to him, What I am doing, you do not know now, but later you will understand.

8 Then Simon Peter said to him, You will never wash my feet. Jesus said to him, If I do not wash you, you have no part with me.

9 Simon Peter said to him, Then, my Lord, wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.

10 Jesus said to him, He who has bathed does not need except to wash his feet only, for he is already all clean; so you are all clean, but not everyone of you.

11 For Jesus knew him who was to betray him; therefore he said, Not everyone of you is clean.

12 When he had washed their feet, he put on his robes and sat down; and he said to them, Do you know what I have done to you?

13 You call me, our Teacher and our Lord; and what you say is well, for I am.

14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, how much more should you wash one another's feet?

15 For I have given you this as an example, so that just as I have done to you, you should also do.

16 Truly, truly, I say to you, There is no servant who is greater than his master; and no apostle who is greater than he who sent him.

17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

18 I do not say this concerning all of you, for I know those whom I have chosen; but that the scripture might be fulfilled, He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.

19 I tell you now before it happens, that when it happens, you may believe that I am he.

20 Truly, truly, I say to you, He who receives him whom I send, receives me; and he who receives me receives him who sent me.

21 Jesus said these things, and he was disturbed in spirit, and testified and said, Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.

22 The disciples then looked at each other, because they did not know concerning whom he spoke.

23 Now there was one of his disciples who was leaning on his bosom, the one whom Jesus loved.

24 Simon Peter winked at to him, to ask him of whom he spoke.

25 So that disciple leaned himself on the breast of Jesus, and said to him, My Lord, who is he?

26 Jesus answered and said, The one for whom I dip bread and give to him. So Jesus dipped the bread, and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon of Iscariot.

27 And after the bread, Satan took possession of him. So Jesus said to him, What you are going to do, do it soon.

28 But no man of those who were sitting at the table understood what he said to him.

29 For some of them thought, because the purse was with Judas, that he ordered him to buy what was needed for the feast; or to give something to the poor.

30 Judas then received the bread and went outside immediately; it was night when he went out.

31 Jesus then said, Now the Son of man is glorified, and God is glorified by him.

32 If God is glorified by him, God will also glorify him by himself, and he will glorify him at once.

33 My sons, I am with you yet a little while, and you will want me. And just as I said to the Jews, Where I go you cannot come; so now I tell you also.

34 A new commandment I give you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

35 By this every man shall know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another.

36 Simon Peter said to him, Our Lord, where are you going? Jesus answered and said to him, Where I go, you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later.

37 Simon Peter said to him, My Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will even lay down my life for you.

38 Jesus said to him, Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, The cock shall not crow, until you have denied me three times.

1 Перед святом же Пасхи Ісус, знавши, що настала годи́на Йому́ перейти до Отця з цього світу, полюбивши Своїх, що на світі були́, до кінця полюбив їх.

1 NOW before the feast of the passover, Jesus knew the hour had come to depart from this world to his Father. And he loved his own who were in this world, and he loved them unto the end.

2 Під час же вече́рі, як диявол уже був укинув у серце синові Си́мона — Юді Іскаріотському, щоб він видав Його́,

2 During supper, Satan put into the heart of Judas, son of Simon of Iscariot, to deliver him.

3 то Ісус, знавши те, що Отець віддав все Йому в руки, і що від Бога прийшов Він, і до Бога відходить,

3 But Jesus, because he knew that the Father had given everything into his hands, and that he came from God, and was going to God,

4 устає від вечері, і здіймає одежу, бере рушника́ й підпері́зується.

4 He rose from supper and laid aside his robes; and he took an apron and tied it around his loins.

5 Пото́му налив Він води до вмива́льниці, та й зачав обмивати ноги учням, і витирати рушнико́м, що ним був підпере́заний.

5 Then he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the feet of his disciples, and to wipe them with the apron which was tied around his loins.

6 І підходить до Си́мона Петра, а той каже Йому: „Ти, Господи, ми́тимеш но́ги мені?“

6 When he came to Simon Peter, Simon said to him, You, my Lord, are you going to wash my feet?

7 Ісус відказав і промовив йому: „Що́ Я роблю́, ти не знаєш тепер, але опісля́ зрозумієш“.

7 Jesus answered and said to him, What I am doing, you do not know now, but later you will understand.

8 Говорить до Нього Петро: „Ти повік мені ніг не обмиєш!“ Ісус відповів йому: „Коли́ Я не вмию тебе, — ти не матимеш частки зо Мною“.

8 Then Simon Peter said to him, You will never wash my feet. Jesus said to him, If I do not wash you, you have no part with me.

9 До Нього проказує Си́мон Петро: „Господи, — не самі мої но́ги, а й руки та го́лову!“

9 Simon Peter said to him, Then, my Lord, wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.

10 Ісус каже йому: „Хто обмитий, тільки но́ги обмити потребу́є, бо він чистий увесь. І ви чисті, — та не всі“.

10 Jesus said to him, He who has bathed does not need except to wash his feet only, for he is already all clean; so you are all clean, but not everyone of you.

11 Бо Він знав Свого зра́дника, тому то сказав: „Ви чисті не всі“.

11 For Jesus knew him who was to betray him; therefore he said, Not everyone of you is clean.

12 Коли ж пообмива́в їхні но́ги, і одежу Свою Він надів, засів зно́ву за стіл і промовив до них: „Чи знаєте ви, що́ Я зробив вам?

12 When he had washed their feet, he put on his robes and sat down; and he said to them, Do you know what I have done to you?

13 Ви Мене називаєте: Учитель і Госпо́дь, — і добре ви кажете, бо Я є.

13 You call me, our Teacher and our Lord; and what you say is well, for I am.

14 А коли обмив ноги вам Я, Госпо́дь і Вчитель, то повинні й ви один о́дному ноги вмивати.

14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, how much more should you wash one another's feet?

15 Бо то Я вам при́клада дав, щоб і ви те чинили, як Я вам учинив.

15 For I have given you this as an example, so that just as I have done to you, you should also do.

16 Поправді, поправді кажу́ вам: Раб не більший за пана свого́, послане́ць же не більший від того, хто вислав його.

16 Truly, truly, I say to you, There is no servant who is greater than his master; and no apostle who is greater than he who sent him.

17 Коли знаєте це, то блаженні ви, якщо таке чините!

17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

18 Не про всіх вас кажу́. Знаю Я, кого вибрав, але щоб збуло́ся Писа́ння: „Хто хліб споживає зо Мною, підняв той на Мене п'яту́ свою!“

18 I do not say this concerning all of you, for I know those whom I have chosen; but that the scripture might be fulfilled, He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.

19 Уже тепер вам кажу́, перше ніж те настане, щоб як станеться, ви ввірували, що то Я.

19 I tell you now before it happens, that when it happens, you may believe that I am he.

20 Поправді, поправді кажу́ вам: Хто приймає Мого посланця́, той приймає Мене; хто ж приймає Мене, той приймає Того, Хто послав Мене!“

20 Truly, truly, I say to you, He who receives him whom I send, receives me; and he who receives me receives him who sent me.

21 Промовивши це, затривожився духом Ісус, і осві́дчив, говорячи: „Поправді, поправді кажу́ вам, що один із вас видасть Мене!“

21 Jesus said these things, and he was disturbed in spirit, and testified and said, Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.

22 І озиралися учні один на одно́го, непевними бувши, про кого Він каже.

22 The disciples then looked at each other, because they did not know concerning whom he spoke.

23 При столі, при Ісусовім лоні, був один з Його учнів, якого любив Ісус.

23 Now there was one of his disciples who was leaning on his bosom, the one whom Jesus loved.

24 От цьому кивну́в Си́мон Петро та й шепну́в: „Запитай, — хто б то був, що про нього Він каже?“

24 Simon Peter winked at to him, to ask him of whom he spoke.

25 І, пригорну́вшись до ло́ня Ісусового, той говорить до Нього: „Хто́ це, Господи?“

25 So that disciple leaned himself on the breast of Jesus, and said to him, My Lord, who is he?

26 Ісус же відказує: „Це той, кому, умочивши, подам Я куска́“. І, вмочивши куска́, подав синові Си́мона, — Юді Іскаріо́тському!

26 Jesus answered and said, The one for whom I dip bread and give to him. So Jesus dipped the bread, and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon of Iscariot.

27 За тим же куско́м тоді в нього ввійшов сатана́. А Ісус йому каже: „Що́ ти робиш — роби швидше“.

27 And after the bread, Satan took possession of him. So Jesus said to him, What you are going to do, do it soon.

28 Але жоден із тих, хто був при столі, того не зрозумів, до чо́го сказав Він йому.

28 But no man of those who were sitting at the table understood what he said to him.

29 А тому́, що тримав Юда скриньку на гроші, то деякі ду́мали, ніби каже до нього Ісус: „Купи, що потрібно на свято для нас“, або щоб убогим подав що.

29 For some of them thought, because the purse was with Judas, that he ordered him to buy what was needed for the feast; or to give something to the poor.

30 А той, узявши кусок хліба, зараз вийшов. Була ж ніч.

30 Judas then received the bread and went outside immediately; it was night when he went out.

31 Тоді, як він вийшов, промовляє Ісус: „Тепер ось просла́вивсь Син Лю́дський, і в Ньому просла́вився Бог.

31 Jesus then said, Now the Son of man is glorified, and God is glorified by him.

32 Коли в Ньому прославився Бог, то і Його Бог просла́вить у Собі, і зараз прославить Його!

32 If God is glorified by him, God will also glorify him by himself, and he will glorify him at once.

33 Мої дітоньки, не довго вже бути Мені з вами! Ви шукати Мене будете, але́ — як сказав Я юдеям: „Куди Я йду, туди ви прибути не можете“, — те й вам говорю́ Я тепер.

33 My sons, I am with you yet a little while, and you will want me. And just as I said to the Jews, Where I go you cannot come; so now I tell you also.

34 Нову́ заповідь Я вам даю: Любіть один о́дного! Як Я вас полюбив, так любіть один о́дного й ви!

34 A new commandment I give you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

35 По то́му пізнають усі, що ви учні Мої, як бу́дете мати любов між собою“.

35 By this every man shall know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another.

36 А Симон Петро Йому каже: „Куди, Господи, ідеш Ти?“ Ісус відповів: „Куди Я йду, туди ти́ тепер іти за Мною не можеш, але по́тім ти підеш за Мною“.

36 Simon Peter said to him, Our Lord, where are you going? Jesus answered and said to him, Where I go, you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later.

37 Говорить до Нього Петро: „Чому, Господи, іти за Тобою тепер я не мо́жу? За Те́бе я душу свою́ покладу́!“

37 Simon Peter said to him, My Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will even lay down my life for you.

38 Ісус відповідає: За Ме́не покладе́ш ти душу свою́? Поправді, поправді кажу́ Я тобі: Півень не заспіває, як ти тричі зречешся Мене́.

38 Jesus said to him, Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, The cock shall not crow, until you have denied me three times.
