2 Идите и посмотрите в Халне, оттуда идите в великий город Емаф, а потом отправляйтесь в Геф филистимский. Лучше ли вам живётся, чем этим царствам? Их земли больше ваших!
3 Вы спешите навстречу дню наказания и приближаете время, когда насилие восторжествует.
4 Вы возлежите на ложах из слоновой кости и нежитесь на диванах. Вы едите лучших ягнят, отобранных из отар, и молодых телят из стада.
5 Вы играете на арфах и упражняетесь на музыкальных инструментах, как Давид.
6 Вы пьёте вино из красивых чаш и употребляете самые лучшие притирания, но не горюете о бедствиях народа Иосифа.
7 Поэтому вы будете среди первых, кто отправится в изгнание, и закончатся ваши празднования и нега.
8 Господь, Бог наш, поклялся Своим именем, сказав: «Я ненавижу всё, чем гордится Иаков, Я ненавижу крепости его. Поэтому Я предам врагам этот город и всё, что находится в нём».
9 И если в каком-то доме останется десять человек, то умрут и они.
10 И если родственник придёт, чтобы унести и предать тело умершего сожжению, и спросит тех людей, которые прячутся в доме: «Есть ли в доме тела умерших?» — а ему ответят: «Нет…», то он скажет: «Тише! Мы не должны упоминать имени Господа».
11 Потому что Господь даст повеление, и большие дома развалятся на куски, а маленькие — на мелкие кусочки.
12 Скачут ли кони по скалам? Нет! Никто не распахивает землю на коровах. Вы же всё извратили, превратив правосудие и правду в горькую отраву.
13 Вы счастливы после победы над Ло-Деваром и хвалитесь: «Мы захватили Карнаим своей собственной силой?»
14 Господь, Бог Всемогущий сказал: «Я приведу против вас народ, который поработит всю вашу страну от Лево-Емафа до источника Арава».
