Глава 30

1 Слова Агура, сына Яке, собирателя пословиц. Сказал сей муж: «Я изнемог, о Боже, я изнемог, о Боже, обессилел!

2 Я безрассуден, и нет глупей меня, нет во мне разуменья человеческого.

3 Мудрости я не выучился, не познал, не постиг Святого.

4 Кто восходил на небеса или сходил с небес? Кто ветер в пригоршне удержал? Кто завернул пучину в свое одеяние? И кто установил все пределы земли? Как его имя? Какое имя у сына его? Скажи, если знаешь…»

5 Всякое слово Бога огнем испытано, Он — щит для тех, кто в Нем прибежище находит.

6 К словам Его ничего не прибавляй, чтобы Бог не обличил тебя и ты не оказался перед Ним лжецом.

7 Двух вещей у Тебя прошу, не откажи мне, пока я еще не умер:

8 лицемерие и ложь от меня удали, не давай мне ни бедности, ни богатства, хлебом насущным меня питай,

9 чтоб, пресытившись, не отверг Тебя, не сказал: «Кто такой ГОСПОДЬ?», а впав в нищету, не стал бы воровать и кощунствовать, бесчестя имя Бога моего.

10 Не злословь раба перед хозяином, иначе проклянет он тебя, и на тебя вина ляжет.

11 Есть люди, что клянут своих отцов и родных матерей не благословляют.

12 Есть такие, что мнят себя чистыми, а от собственного кала не отмыты.

13 Есть такие, что смотрят надменно, взгляды свысока бросают!

14 Это — племя, чьи зубы — мечи, челюсти — словно отточенный нож, чтоб поглотить бедняка на земле, нищего — средь людей.

15 Две дочери у пиявки: «Дай! Дай!» Три вещи в этом мире ненасытны, да и четвертая никогда не скажет: «Довольно!»

16 Шеол и бесплодная утроба, земля, что водой никак не насытится, и огонь, который никогда не скажет: «Довольно!»

17 Глаза тех, что над отцом глумятся и послушанием матери пренебрегают, — выклюет их ворон, что живет в долине, сожрут молодые стервятники.

18 Три вещи для меня непостижимы, даже четыре, которых мне не понять:

19 путь орла в небе, путь змеи на скале, путь корабля среди моря, и путь мужчины к сердцу девушки.

20 Путь жены прелюбодейной таков — наестся она, губы утрет и скажет: «Ничего худого я не сделала!»

21 От трех вещей земля содрогнется, четыре — она не вынесет:

22 раба, который воцарился, негодного человека, который ест досыта,

23 женщину злобную, что замуж вышла, и служанку, что выгнала свою госпожу.

24 Вот четверо на земле неимоверно малы, но они — мудрейшие из мудрых.

25 Среди них муравьи — народ не сильный, а запасы свои они собирают с лета.

26 Даманы — народ не могучий, а дома свои они строят на скалах.

27 Саранча — нет у нее царя, а выступает она вся, как единое войско.

28 Ящерка — может уместиться в ладони, а в царских чертогах бывает.

29 У трех величавый шаг, у четырех величавая поступь:

30 у льва, сильнейшего средь зверей, — ни перед кем он не отступит;

31 у петуха-задиры, у козла и у царя, перед которым никто не устоит.

32 Если ты превознесся и поступил постыдно, если недоброе задумывал — руку положи на уста!

33 Ведь когда молоко взбивают, получается масло, по носу бьют — льется кровь, а вспышка гнева разжигает раздор.

10 Не злословь раба перед хозяином, иначе проклянет он тебя, и на тебя вина ляжет.

11 Есть люди, что клянут своих отцов и родных матерей не благословляют.

12 Есть такие, что мнят себя чистыми, а от собственного кала не отмыты.
