1 THEN, fourteen years later, I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also. |
|
2 And I went up because of a revelation, and I declared to them the gospel which I preached among the Gentiles, and I privately explained to those who were considered leaders among us, lest by any means I had labored, or should labor in vain. |
|
3 And Titus, also, who was with me, being Syrian, was not compelled to be circumcised, |
|
4 But because of the false brethren who had been brought in unknown to us to spy out the freedom which we have in Jesus Christ, with the intention of enslaving us; |
|
5 To those false brothers we did not submit, not even for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might remain with you. |
|
6 Now those who were considered to be important (what they are makes no difference to me, for God does not discriminate among men), even these very persons did not contribute additional knowledge to me. |
|
7 But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was entrusted to me, as the gospel of the circumcision was entrusted to Peter, |
|
8 (For he who made Cephas vigorous in the apostleship of the circumcision, has also made me mighty in the apostleship of the Gentiles:) |
|
9 And when they knew that the grace had been given to me, then James, Cephas, and John, who were considered to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship; that we might labor among the Gentiles, and they, among the people of circumcision. |
|
10 Only they would that we should remember the poor; and that I have endeavored to do. |
|
11 But when Cephas came to An'ti-och, I reproved him to his face, because he was to be blamed. |
|
12 For before certain men came from James, Cephas ate with the Gentiles: but after they came, he withdrew and separated himself, because he was afraid of them who belonged to the circumcision. |
|
13 And all the other Jewish converts cast their lots with him on this issue, insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away by their dissimulation. |
|
14 But when I saw that they were not following uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter, in the presence of them all, If you being a Jew live after the manner of Gentiles and not as do the Jews, why do you compel the Gentile converts to live as do the Jews? |
|
15 For if we who are of Jewish origin, and not sinners of the Gentiles, |
|
16 Know that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith in Christ and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no human being be justified. |
|
17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore our LORD Jesus Christ a minister of sin? Far be it. |
|
18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I will prove myself to be a transgressor of the law. |
|
19 For through the law I am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. |
|
20 I am crucified with Christ: henceforth it is not I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life which now I live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. |
|
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness comes by means of the law, then Christ died in vain. |

2 А пішов я за об'явленням. І подав їм Єва́нгелію, що її проповідую між поганами, особливо знатнішим, чи не дарма́ змагаюся я чи змагався. |
|
3 Але й Тит, що зо мною, бувши греком, не був до обрі́зання змушений. |
|
4 А щодо прибулих фальшивих братів, що прийшли підгляда́ти нашу вільність, яку маємо в Христі Ісусі, щоб нас понево́лити, |
|
5 то ми їх не послухали ані на хвилю, і не піддали́ся були, щоб тривала в вас правда Єва́нгелії. |
|
6 Щождо тих, що за що́сь уважають себе, та якими колись вони були, то ні в чо́му різниці для мене нема, — не дивиться Бог на осо́бу люди́ни! Бо ті, що за щось уважають себе, нічого мені не додали́, |
|
7 але навпаки́, — побачивши, що мені припору́чена Єва́нгелія для необрізаних, як Петрові для обрізаних, - |
|
8 бо Той, хто помагав Петрові в апо́стольстві між обрізаними, помагав і мені між поганами, - |
|
9 і, пізнавши ту благода́ть, що да́на мені, Яків, і Кифа, і Іван, що стовпа́ми вважаються, подали мені та Варна́ві прави́ці спільно́ти, щоб ми для поган працювали, вони ж — для обрізаних, |
|
10 тільки щоб ми пам'ята́ли про вбогих, що я й пильнував був чинити таке. |
|
11 |
|
12 Бо він перед тим, як прийшли були дехто від Якова, споживав із поганами. А коли прибули́, став ховатися та відлучатися, боячи́ся обрі́заних. |
|
13 А з ним лицемі́рили й інші юдеї, так що навіть Варна́ва пристав був до їхнього лицемірства. |
|
14 А коли я побачив, що не йдуть вони рівно за єва́нгельською правдою, то перед усіма сказав Кифі: „Коли ти, бувши юдеєм, живеш по-поганському, а не по-юдейському, то на́що поган ти примушуєш жити по-юдейському“? |
|
15 Ми юдеї природою, а не грішники з поган... |
|
16 |
|
17 Коли ж, шукаючи виправда́ння в Христі, ми й самі показалися грішниками, то хіба Христос слуга гріху? Зовсім ні! |
|
18 Бо коли я будую знов те, що був зруйнував, то самого себе роблю́ злочинцем. |
|
19 Бо Зако́ном я вмер для Зако́ну, щоб жити для Бога. Я розп'я́тий з Христом. |
|
20 І живу вже не я, а Христос проживає в мені. А що я живу в тілі тепер, — живу вірою в Божого Сина, що мене полюбив, і видав за мене Само́го Себе. |
|
21 Божої благода́ті я не відкидаю. Бо коли набувається праведність Зако́ном, то Христос нада́рмо умер! |

3 Але й Тит, що зо мною, бувши греком, не був до обрі́зання змушений. |
|
4 But because of the false brethren who had been brought in unknown to us to spy out the freedom which we have in Jesus Christ, with the intention of enslaving us; |
4 А щодо прибулих фальшивих братів, що прийшли підгляда́ти нашу вільність, яку маємо в Христі Ісусі, щоб нас понево́лити, |

5 To those false brothers we did not submit, not even for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might remain with you. |
5 то ми їх не послухали ані на хвилю, і не піддали́ся були, щоб тривала в вас правда Єва́нгелії. |
|

7 But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was entrusted to me, as the gospel of the circumcision was entrusted to Peter, |
7 але навпаки́, — побачивши, що мені припору́чена Єва́нгелія для необрізаних, як Петрові для обрізаних, - |
|
8 (For he who made Cephas vigorous in the apostleship of the circumcision, has also made me mighty in the apostleship of the Gentiles:) |
8 бо Той, хто помагав Петрові в апо́стольстві між обрізаними, помагав і мені між поганами, - |
|
9 And when they knew that the grace had been given to me, then James, Cephas, and John, who were considered to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship; that we might labor among the Gentiles, and they, among the people of circumcision. |
9 і, пізнавши ту благода́ть, що да́на мені, Яків, і Кифа, і Іван, що стовпа́ми вважаються, подали мені та Варна́ві прави́ці спільно́ти, щоб ми для поган працювали, вони ж — для обрізаних, |

10 Only they would that we should remember the poor; and that I have endeavored to do. |
10 тільки щоб ми пам'ята́ли про вбогих, що я й пильнував був чинити таке. |

12 Бо він перед тим, як прийшли були дехто від Якова, споживав із поганами. А коли прибули́, став ховатися та відлучатися, боячи́ся обрі́заних. |

13 And all the other Jewish converts cast their lots with him on this issue, insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away by their dissimulation. |
13 А з ним лицемі́рили й інші юдеї, так що навіть Варна́ва пристав був до їхнього лицемірства. |

14 А коли я побачив, що не йдуть вони рівно за єва́нгельською правдою, то перед усіма сказав Кифі: „Коли ти, бувши юдеєм, живеш по-поганському, а не по-юдейському, то на́що поган ти примушуєш жити по-юдейському“? |

15 Ми юдеї природою, а не грішники з поган... |
|

17 Коли ж, шукаючи виправда́ння в Христі, ми й самі показалися грішниками, то хіба Христос слуга гріху? Зовсім ні! |

18 Бо коли я будую знов те, що був зруйнував, то самого себе роблю́ злочинцем. |

19 For through the law I am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. |
19 Бо Зако́ном я вмер для Зако́ну, щоб жити для Бога. Я розп'я́тий з Христом. |
|
20 I am crucified with Christ: henceforth it is not I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life which now I live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. |
20 І живу вже не я, а Христос проживає в мені. А що я живу в тілі тепер, — живу вірою в Божого Сина, що мене полюбив, і видав за мене Само́го Себе. |
|
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness comes by means of the law, then Christ died in vain. |
21 Божої благода́ті я не відкидаю. Бо коли набувається праведність Зако́ном, то Христос нада́рмо умер! |
