Послание к галатам

Глава 2

1 Затем, по истечении четырнадцати лет, я снова пошел в Иерусалим вместе с Варнавой, взяв с собой и Тита;

2 пошел же по откровению и изложил им и отдельно тем, которые были почитаемы, то Евангелие, которое я проповедую среди язычников: не бегу или не бежал ли я впустую.

3 Но и Тит, бывший со мною, хотя и Еллин, не был принужден к обрезанию:

4 а из-за вкравшихся лжебратьев, которые проникли выследить нашу свободу, которую мы имеем во Христе Иисусе, чтобы нас поработить:

5 им мы не уступили и не подчинились ни на час, чтобы истина Евангелия сохранилась у вас.

6 Со стороны же тех, которые почитались кем-то, — кем бы когда они ни были, мне совсем неважно: на лицо человека Бог не смотрит — так вот почитаемые не наложили на меня ничего более.

7 Но, наоборот, увидев, что мне вверено Евангелие для необрезанных, как Петру для обрезанных,

8 — ибо Содействовавший Петру в апостольстве у обрезанных содействовал и мне у язычников, —

9 и узнав о благодати, данной мне, Иаков и Кифа и Иоанн, которые были почитаемы столпами, подали мне и Варнаве руку общения, чтобы нам идти к язычникам, а им к обрезанным;

10 только бы мы помнили о нищих: это именно я и постарался исполнить.

11 Когда же пришел Кифа в Антиохию, я противостал ему самолично, потому что он был виноват.

12 Ибо до прибытия некоторых от Иакова он ел вместе с язычниками; а когда те пришли, начал уклоняться и сторониться, опасаясь тех, которые были из обрезанных;

13 и вместе с ним предались лицемерию и прочие Иудеи, так что и Варнава дал себя увлечь их лицемерием.

14 Но когда я увидел, что они не прямо поступают по истине Евангелия, я сказал Кифе в присутствии всех: если ты, будучи Иудей, живешь по-язычески, а не по-иудейски, как же ты язычников принуждаешь иудействовать?

15 Мы по природе Иудеи, а не из язычников грешники;

16 однако, узнав, что не делами Закона получает оправдание человек, но только чрез веру в Иисуса Христа, — и мы во Христа Иисуса уверовали, чтобы быть оправданными верою во Христа, а не делами Закона, потому что делами Закона не будет оправдана никакая плоть.

17 Если же, ища оправдания во Христе, мы и сами оказались грешниками, — значит Христос есть служитель греха? Отнюдь нет.

18 Ибо, если я снова созидаю то, что разрушил, я самого себя выставляю преступником.

19 Ибо я чрез Закон умер для Закона, чтобы жить для Бога. Я распят со Христом.

20 И живу больше не я, но живет во мне Христос. А что я теперь живу во плоти, то живу в вере в Сына Божия, возлюбившего меня и предавшего Себя за меня.

21 Не отвергаю я благодати Божией; ибо, если чрез Закон — оправдание, — значит Христос напрасно умер.

Galatians

Chapter 2

1 THEN, fourteen years later, I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also.

2 And I went up because of a revelation, and I declared to them the gospel which I preached among the Gentiles, and I privately explained to those who were considered leaders among us, lest by any means I had labored, or should labor in vain.

3 And Titus, also, who was with me, being Syrian, was not compelled to be circumcised,

4 But because of the false brethren who had been brought in unknown to us to spy out the freedom which we have in Jesus Christ, with the intention of enslaving us;

5 To those false brothers we did not submit, not even for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might remain with you.

6 Now those who were considered to be important (what they are makes no difference to me, for God does not discriminate among men), even these very persons did not contribute additional knowledge to me.

7 But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was entrusted to me, as the gospel of the circumcision was entrusted to Peter,

8 (For he who made Cephas vigorous in the apostleship of the circumcision, has also made me mighty in the apostleship of the Gentiles:)

9 And when they knew that the grace had been given to me, then James, Cephas, and John, who were considered to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship; that we might labor among the Gentiles, and they, among the people of circumcision.

10 Only they would that we should remember the poor; and that I have endeavored to do.

11 But when Cephas came to An'ti-och, I reproved him to his face, because he was to be blamed.

12 For before certain men came from James, Cephas ate with the Gentiles: but after they came, he withdrew and separated himself, because he was afraid of them who belonged to the circumcision.

13 And all the other Jewish converts cast their lots with him on this issue, insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away by their dissimulation.

14 But when I saw that they were not following uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter, in the presence of them all, If you being a Jew live after the manner of Gentiles and not as do the Jews, why do you compel the Gentile converts to live as do the Jews?

15 For if we who are of Jewish origin, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

16 Know that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith in Christ and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no human being be justified.

17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore our LORD Jesus Christ a minister of sin? Far be it.

18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I will prove myself to be a transgressor of the law.

19 For through the law I am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

20 I am crucified with Christ: henceforth it is not I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life which now I live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness comes by means of the law, then Christ died in vain.

3 And Titus, also, who was with me, being Syrian, was not compelled to be circumcised,

4 а из-за вкравшихся лжебратьев, которые проникли выследить нашу свободу, которую мы имеем во Христе Иисусе, чтобы нас поработить:

4 But because of the false brethren who had been brought in unknown to us to spy out the freedom which we have in Jesus Christ, with the intention of enslaving us;

5 им мы не уступили и не подчинились ни на час, чтобы истина Евангелия сохранилась у вас.

5 To those false brothers we did not submit, not even for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might remain with you.

6 Со стороны же тех, которые почитались кем-то, — кем бы когда они ни были, мне совсем неважно: на лицо человека Бог не смотрит — так вот почитаемые не наложили на меня ничего более.

6 Now those who were considered to be important (what they are makes no difference to me, for God does not discriminate among men), even these very persons did not contribute additional knowledge to me.

7 Но, наоборот, увидев, что мне вверено Евангелие для необрезанных, как Петру для обрезанных,

7 But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was entrusted to me, as the gospel of the circumcision was entrusted to Peter,

8 — ибо Содействовавший Петру в апостольстве у обрезанных содействовал и мне у язычников, —

8 (For he who made Cephas vigorous in the apostleship of the circumcision, has also made me mighty in the apostleship of the Gentiles:)

9 и узнав о благодати, данной мне, Иаков и Кифа и Иоанн, которые были почитаемы столпами, подали мне и Варнаве руку общения, чтобы нам идти к язычникам, а им к обрезанным;

9 And when they knew that the grace had been given to me, then James, Cephas, and John, who were considered to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship; that we might labor among the Gentiles, and they, among the people of circumcision.

10 только бы мы помнили о нищих: это именно я и постарался исполнить.

10 Only they would that we should remember the poor; and that I have endeavored to do.

11 Когда же пришел Кифа в Антиохию, я противостал ему самолично, потому что он был виноват.

11 But when Cephas came to An'ti-och, I reproved him to his face, because he was to be blamed.

12 Ибо до прибытия некоторых от Иакова он ел вместе с язычниками; а когда те пришли, начал уклоняться и сторониться, опасаясь тех, которые были из обрезанных;

12 For before certain men came from James, Cephas ate with the Gentiles: but after they came, he withdrew and separated himself, because he was afraid of them who belonged to the circumcision.

13 и вместе с ним предались лицемерию и прочие Иудеи, так что и Варнава дал себя увлечь их лицемерием.

13 And all the other Jewish converts cast their lots with him on this issue, insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away by their dissimulation.

14 Но когда я увидел, что они не прямо поступают по истине Евангелия, я сказал Кифе в присутствии всех: если ты, будучи Иудей, живешь по-язычески, а не по-иудейски, как же ты язычников принуждаешь иудействовать?

14 But when I saw that they were not following uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter, in the presence of them all, If you being a Jew live after the manner of Gentiles and not as do the Jews, why do you compel the Gentile converts to live as do the Jews?

15 Мы по природе Иудеи, а не из язычников грешники;

15 For if we who are of Jewish origin, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

16 однако, узнав, что не делами Закона получает оправдание человек, но только чрез веру в Иисуса Христа, — и мы во Христа Иисуса уверовали, чтобы быть оправданными верою во Христа, а не делами Закона, потому что делами Закона не будет оправдана никакая плоть.

16 Know that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith in Christ and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no human being be justified.

17 Если же, ища оправдания во Христе, мы и сами оказались грешниками, — значит Христос есть служитель греха? Отнюдь нет.

17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore our LORD Jesus Christ a minister of sin? Far be it.

18 Ибо, если я снова созидаю то, что разрушил, я самого себя выставляю преступником.

18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I will prove myself to be a transgressor of the law.

19 Ибо я чрез Закон умер для Закона, чтобы жить для Бога. Я распят со Христом.

19 For through the law I am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

20 И живу больше не я, но живет во мне Христос. А что я теперь живу во плоти, то живу в вере в Сына Божия, возлюбившего меня и предавшего Себя за меня.

20 I am crucified with Christ: henceforth it is not I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life which now I live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

21 Не отвергаю я благодати Божией; ибо, если чрез Закон — оправдание, — значит Христос напрасно умер.

21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness comes by means of the law, then Christ died in vain.
