Chapter 5

1 NOW you shall go forth in a raid, O daughter of mighty raiders, for they have risen against us and have smitten the shepherd of Israel with a rod upon his cheek.

2 And you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you are little among the thousands of towns of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth a ruler to govern Israel; whose goings forth have been predicted from of old, from eternity.

3 Henceforth he will deliver them, until the time when she who is in travail has brought forth; then the remnant of his brethren shall return to the children of Israel.

4 And he shall arise and rule in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and the people shall return; for now his dominion shall extend to the ends of the earth.

5 And there shall be peace when the Assyrian shall come to invade our country, and shall tread in our palaces; then we will raise up against him seven rulers and eight princes of men.

6 And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod with their anger; thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, that he may not come to our land, and that he may not tread within our borders.

7 And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many nations like the dew from the LORD, like the showers upon the grass, which tarry not for man, nor wait for the sons of men.

8 And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many nations as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, when he selects his prey, cuts and tears in pieces, and there is none to deliver.

9 Your hand shall be lifted up against your adversaries, and all your enemies shall perish.

10 And it shall come to pass in that day, says the LORD, that I will destroy your horses from the midst of you, and will do away with your chariots;

11 And I will lay waste the towns of your land, and demolish all your strongholds.

12 And I will destroy the magicians from within your reach; and you shall have no more soothsayers;

13 And I will destroy your graven images and your high places from the midst of you; and you shall no more worship the work of your hands.

14 And I will destroy your groves from the midst of you; and I will lay waste your cities.

15 And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the nations that did not obey.

Глава 5

1 Ополчайся же, город полчищ: нас взяли в осаду!Палкою по щеке будут бить правителя Исраила.

2 – Но ты, Вифлеем-Ефрафа, пусть ты мал средь городов Иудеи,из тебя Мне выйдет Тот, Кто будет править Исраилом,Чьё родословие ведётся издревле, с давних времён. .

3 Итак, Всевышний оставит народ Исраила до поры, пока роженица не родит Того Правителя;тогда Его оставшиеся братья вернутся к народу Исраила.

4 Он встанет и будет пасти Своё стадо в силе Вечного, в величии имени Вечного, Его Бога.Они будут жить в безопасности, ведь слава Его дойдёт до края земли.

5 Он дарует им мир.
Если явятся в нашу страну ассирийцы и будут топтать наши крепости,мы поднимем на них семерых правителей, . и даже восьмерых вождей.

6 Они будут править мечом в земле ассирийской, обнажённым мечом – в земле Нимрода. .Правитель избавит нас от ассирийцев, если те явятся в нашу страну и будут нарушать её границы.

7 И будут уцелевшие из потомков Якуба среди многих народовточно роса от Вечного, словно ливень на зелени,который ни от кого не зависит и не подвластен смертным.

8 Уцелевшие из потомков Якуба будут между народами, среди многих племён,точно лев среди лесного зверья, словно молодой лев меж овечьих отар,что, подкравшись, набрасывается и разрывает на куски, и никто не в силах избавить от него.

9 Твоя рука будет поднята против твоих неприятелей, все твои враги будут истреблены.

10 – В тот день, – возвещает Вечный, –
Я погублю твоих коней и сломаю твои колесницы.

11 Я погублю города на твоей земле и разрушу все твои крепости.

12 Я погублю твоё чародейство, и волхвов у тебя не станет.

13 Я погублю твои изваяния и твои священные камни –ты больше не будешь поклоняться сделанному твоими руками.

14 Я искореню столбы Ашеры и разрушу твои города.

15 В гневе и ярости Я отомщу народам, которые Меня не послушались.

1 Ополчайся же, город полчищ: нас взяли в осаду!Палкою по щеке будут бить правителя Исраила.

2 – Но ты, Вифлеем-Ефрафа, пусть ты мал средь городов Иудеи,из тебя Мне выйдет Тот, Кто будет править Исраилом,Чьё родословие ведётся издревле, с давних времён. .

3 Итак, Всевышний оставит народ Исраила до поры, пока роженица не родит Того Правителя;тогда Его оставшиеся братья вернутся к народу Исраила.

4 Он встанет и будет пасти Своё стадо в силе Вечного, в величии имени Вечного, Его Бога.Они будут жить в безопасности, ведь слава Его дойдёт до края земли.

5 Он дарует им мир.
Если явятся в нашу страну ассирийцы и будут топтать наши крепости,мы поднимем на них семерых правителей, . и даже восьмерых вождей.

8 Уцелевшие из потомков Якуба будут между народами, среди многих племён,точно лев среди лесного зверья, словно молодой лев меж овечьих отар,что, подкравшись, набрасывается и разрывает на куски, и никто не в силах избавить от него.

9 Your hand shall be lifted up against your adversaries, and all your enemies shall perish.

9 Твоя рука будет поднята против твоих неприятелей, все твои враги будут истреблены.

10 And it shall come to pass in that day, says the LORD, that I will destroy your horses from the midst of you, and will do away with your chariots;

10 – В тот день, – возвещает Вечный, –
Я погублю твоих коней и сломаю твои колесницы.

11 And I will lay waste the towns of your land, and demolish all your strongholds.

11 Я погублю города на твоей земле и разрушу все твои крепости.

12 And I will destroy the magicians from within your reach; and you shall have no more soothsayers;

12 Я погублю твоё чародейство, и волхвов у тебя не станет.

13 And I will destroy your graven images and your high places from the midst of you; and you shall no more worship the work of your hands.

13 Я погублю твои изваяния и твои священные камни –ты больше не будешь поклоняться сделанному твоими руками.

14 And I will destroy your groves from the midst of you; and I will lay waste your cities.

14 Я искореню столбы Ашеры и разрушу твои города.

15 And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the nations that did not obey.
