Chapter 33

1 AND the LORD said to Moses, Depart, and go up hence, you and the people whom you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, To your descendants will I give it;

2 And I will send an angel before you; and he will destroy the Canaanites, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites;

3 Go to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up among you; for you are a stiff-necked people; lest I consume you on the way.

4 And when the people heard this bad news, they mourned; and no man did put on him his armor.

5 Then the LORD said to Moses, Say to the children of Israel, You are a stiff-necked people; I will come up among you in a moment, and consume you; therefore now put off your armor from you, that I may know what to do to you.

6 And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their armor by mount Horeb.

7 And Moses took his tent and pitched it outside the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass that every one who sought to inquire of the LORD went out to the tabernacle of the congregation, which was outside the camp.

8 And it came to pass when Moses went out to the tabernacle that all the people rose up and stood every man at his tent door and looked after Moses until he entered the tabernacle.

9 And it came to pass as Moses entered into the tabernacle the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle and the LORD talked with Moses.

10 And all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the door of the tabernacle; and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.

11 And the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he returned to the camp; but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not from the tabernacle.

12 And Moses said to the LORD, See, thou sayest to me, Bring up this people; and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know you by name, and thou hast also found favor in my sight.

13 Now therefore, if I have found favor in thy sight, show me now the way that I may know thee, that I may find favor in thy sight; and consider that this thy people is a great nation.

14 And the LORD said to Moses, Go ahead of me, and I will give you rest.

15 And he said to him, If thou thyself will not go with us, let us not leave this place.

16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found mercy in thy sight? Is it not in that thou goest with us? So that we be distinguished, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

17 And the LORD said to Moses, I will do this thing also that you have spoken; for you have found grace in my sight, and I know you by your name.

18 And Moses said, Show me thy glory.

19 And he said. I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.

20 And he said, You cannot see my face; for no man can see me and live.

21 And the LORD said to Moses, Behold, there is a place in front of me, and you shall stand upon the rock;

22 And it shall come to pass when my glory passes by that I will put you in a cave of the rock and will rest my hand upon you till I pass by;

23 And I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen.

1 «Теперь, — сказал ГОСПОДЬ Моисею, — снимайтесь со стоянки и идите — и ты, и весь народ, что вывел ты из Египта, — идите в ту землю, которую Я клятвенно обещал Аврааму, Исааку и Иакову: „Потомкам твоим дам ее“.

2 Я пошлю перед вами Ангела и прогоню ханаанеев, амореев, хеттов, периззеев, хиввеев и евусеев.

3 Вы придете в землю, что источает молоко и мед, но Сам Я с вами не пойду, чтобы Мое пребывание среди вас не обернулось погибелью для вас в этом пути, ибо вы — народ упрямый».

4 Загоревал народ, услышав такой суровый приговор, и никто не решался надевать на себя украшений своих.

5 А ГОСПОДЬ сказал тогда Моисею: «Объясни сынам Израилевым: если Я пойду с ними — даже какое-то короткое время, может случиться, что Мне придется их уничтожить из-за их же упрямства. Пусть они снимут с себя украшения, а Я решу, что делать Мне с ними».

6 (И сняли сыны Израилевы украшения свои у горы Хорив.)

7 Пока не было построено Святилище, Моисей обычно разбивал особый шатер вне стана и называл его Шатром Откровения. Тогда всякий, кто искал ответа от ГОСПОДА, мог пойти за стан к Шатру этому.

8 И когда Моисей направлялся к Шатру, все израильтяне вставали, выходили из своих жилищ и взглядом провожали вождя, покуда не входил он в Шатер.

9 Всякий раз в тот самый момент, когда Моисей оказывался в Шатре, столп облачный опускался и стоял у входа в Шатер, — и Господь говорил с Моисеем.

10 Все люди при виде сего столпа, что стоял у входа в Шатер Моисеев, поднимались со своих мест и в благоговейном трепете падали ниц у своих жилищ.

11 А ГОСПОДЬ в это время разговаривал с Моисеем так, как обычно говорит кто со своим другом. Потом Моисей возвращался в стан; молодой помощник же его, Иисус Навин, от Шатра не удалялся.

12 И сказал однажды Моисей ГОСПОДУ: «Вот Ты говоришь мне: „Веди народ сей“. Но не открыл, кого пошлешь Ты со мной, хотя и объявил мне: „Избрал тебя, ты снискал Мое расположение“.

13 Но если я действительно угоден Тебе, открой, молю, намерения Твои, помоги постигать Тебя, дабы и впредь я оставался угодным Тебе, Господи. И еще молю, помни, что люди эти — Твой народ».

14 ГОСПОДЬ ответил ему: «А если явные знаки Моей любви будут сопровождать тебя на всем пути, будешь ли ты спокоен?»

15 «Если не будет с нами этих явных знаков Твоей заботы и любви, — отозвался Моисей, — то лучше и не уводи нас отсюда.

16 А то как же узнаем мы, я и народ Твой, что обрели благоволение Твое? Не по тому ли, что Ты Сам пойдешь с нами? Это и отличит нас от всех народов на земле».

17 ГОСПОДЬ заверил Моисея: «Сделаю то, о чем ты просишь. Ибо ты снискал Мое расположение, и Я избрал тебя».

18 И когда Моисей попросил: «Позволь же мне увидеть славу Твою»,

19 ГОСПОДЬ ответил: «Я непременно это сделаю: Моей всеблагости дам перед тобою открыться и тем возвещу тебе, что несет в себе имя ГОСПОДЬ: Я милую, кого хочу помиловать, и кого хочу пожалеть — пожалею.

20 Но лик Мой нельзя тебе видеть, ибо не может человек, увидевший Меня, в живых остаться».

21 И еще сказал ГОСПОДЬ: «Смотри, есть место возле Меня, где ты можешь стоять на скале.

22 И как только здесь появится свет славы Моей, сокрою тебя в расселине скалы сей и рукою Своей заслоню тебя, пока не пройду мимо.

23 А когда отведу руку, ты сзади посмотришь на Меня; лик же Мой не увидишь».

3 Вы придете в землю, что источает молоко и мед, но Сам Я с вами не пойду, чтобы Мое пребывание среди вас не обернулось погибелью для вас в этом пути, ибо вы — народ упрямый».

4 And when the people heard this bad news, they mourned; and no man did put on him his armor.

4 Загоревал народ, услышав такой суровый приговор, и никто не решался надевать на себя украшений своих.

5 Then the LORD said to Moses, Say to the children of Israel, You are a stiff-necked people; I will come up among you in a moment, and consume you; therefore now put off your armor from you, that I may know what to do to you.

5 А ГОСПОДЬ сказал тогда Моисею: «Объясни сынам Израилевым: если Я пойду с ними — даже какое-то короткое время, может случиться, что Мне придется их уничтожить из-за их же упрямства. Пусть они снимут с себя украшения, а Я решу, что делать Мне с ними».

6 And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their armor by mount Horeb.

6 (И сняли сыны Израилевы украшения свои у горы Хорив.)

7 Пока не было построено Святилище, Моисей обычно разбивал особый шатер вне стана и называл его Шатром Откровения. Тогда всякий, кто искал ответа от ГОСПОДА, мог пойти за стан к Шатру этому.

8 And it came to pass when Moses went out to the tabernacle that all the people rose up and stood every man at his tent door and looked after Moses until he entered the tabernacle.

8 И когда Моисей направлялся к Шатру, все израильтяне вставали, выходили из своих жилищ и взглядом провожали вождя, покуда не входил он в Шатер.

9 And it came to pass as Moses entered into the tabernacle the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle and the LORD talked with Moses.

9 Всякий раз в тот самый момент, когда Моисей оказывался в Шатре, столп облачный опускался и стоял у входа в Шатер, — и Господь говорил с Моисеем.

10 And all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the door of the tabernacle; and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.

10 Все люди при виде сего столпа, что стоял у входа в Шатер Моисеев, поднимались со своих мест и в благоговейном трепете падали ниц у своих жилищ.

11 And the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he returned to the camp; but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not from the tabernacle.

11 А ГОСПОДЬ в это время разговаривал с Моисеем так, как обычно говорит кто со своим другом. Потом Моисей возвращался в стан; молодой помощник же его, Иисус Навин, от Шатра не удалялся.

12 And Moses said to the LORD, See, thou sayest to me, Bring up this people; and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know you by name, and thou hast also found favor in my sight.

12 И сказал однажды Моисей ГОСПОДУ: «Вот Ты говоришь мне: „Веди народ сей“. Но не открыл, кого пошлешь Ты со мной, хотя и объявил мне: „Избрал тебя, ты снискал Мое расположение“.

13 Now therefore, if I have found favor in thy sight, show me now the way that I may know thee, that I may find favor in thy sight; and consider that this thy people is a great nation.

13 Но если я действительно угоден Тебе, открой, молю, намерения Твои, помоги постигать Тебя, дабы и впредь я оставался угодным Тебе, Господи. И еще молю, помни, что люди эти — Твой народ».

14 And the LORD said to Moses, Go ahead of me, and I will give you rest.

14 ГОСПОДЬ ответил ему: «А если явные знаки Моей любви будут сопровождать тебя на всем пути, будешь ли ты спокоен?»

15 And he said to him, If thou thyself will not go with us, let us not leave this place.

15 «Если не будет с нами этих явных знаков Твоей заботы и любви, — отозвался Моисей, — то лучше и не уводи нас отсюда.

16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found mercy in thy sight? Is it not in that thou goest with us? So that we be distinguished, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

16 А то как же узнаем мы, я и народ Твой, что обрели благоволение Твое? Не по тому ли, что Ты Сам пойдешь с нами? Это и отличит нас от всех народов на земле».

17 And the LORD said to Moses, I will do this thing also that you have spoken; for you have found grace in my sight, and I know you by your name.

17 ГОСПОДЬ заверил Моисея: «Сделаю то, о чем ты просишь. Ибо ты снискал Мое расположение, и Я избрал тебя».

18 And Moses said, Show me thy glory.

18 И когда Моисей попросил: «Позволь же мне увидеть славу Твою»,

19 And he said. I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.

19 ГОСПОДЬ ответил: «Я непременно это сделаю: Моей всеблагости дам перед тобою открыться и тем возвещу тебе, что несет в себе имя ГОСПОДЬ: Я милую, кого хочу помиловать, и кого хочу пожалеть — пожалею.

20 And he said, You cannot see my face; for no man can see me and live.

20 Но лик Мой нельзя тебе видеть, ибо не может человек, увидевший Меня, в живых остаться».

21 And the LORD said to Moses, Behold, there is a place in front of me, and you shall stand upon the rock;

21 И еще сказал ГОСПОДЬ: «Смотри, есть место возле Меня, где ты можешь стоять на скале.

22 And it shall come to pass when my glory passes by that I will put you in a cave of the rock and will rest my hand upon you till I pass by;

22 И как только здесь появится свет славы Моей, сокрою тебя в расселине скалы сей и рукою Своей заслоню тебя, пока не пройду мимо.
