Chapter 14

1 THEN the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

2 Speak to the children of Israel that they turn back and encamp by the inlet of Kheritha, between Migdol and the sea, in front of Baal-zephon; opposite it shall you encamp by the sea.

3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are strangers in the land, the wilderness has shut them in.

4 And the LORD said to Moses, I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them; and I will triumph over Pharaoh, and over all his army; and the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD. And they did so.

5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people had gone away; and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants changed against the people, and they said, What have we done that we have let Israel go from serving us?

6 And he made ready his chariots and took his people with him:

7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots and all chariots of the Egyptians and warriors over every one of them.

8 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, king of Egypt and he pursued the children of Israel; but the children of Israel had gone out victoriously.

9 And the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen and his army, and overtook them encamping by the inlet of Kheritha, before Baal-zephon.

10 And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes and saw the Egyptians marching after them; and they were terribly afraid; and the children of Israel prayed before the LORD.

11 And they said to Moses, Is it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt thus with us, and brought us out of Egypt?

12 Is not this the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in this wilderness.

13 And Moses said to the people. Fear not, wait, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will perform for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall see them again no more for ever.

14 The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.

15 And the LORD said to Moses. Why do you pray before me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward;

16 And as for you, lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it; and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the sea.

17 And, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, so that they shall follow them; and I will triumph over Pharaoh and over all his army, his chariots, and his horsemen.

18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have been triumphant over Pharaoh, over all his army, his chariots, and his horsemen.

19 And the angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of he cloud moved from before them and stood behind them:

20 And it came between the army of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was cloudy and dark all the night, but it gave light all the night to the children of Israel, so that they could not draw near one to another all the night.

21 And Moses lifted up his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground; and the waters were like a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

23 And the Egyptians pursued and went into the sea after them, all of Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

24 And it came to pass that in the morning watch the LORD appeared to the Egyptians army in a pillar of fire and of cloud, and threw the Egyptian army into confusion,

25 Thus clogging their chariot wheels that they drew heavily, so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from before the house of Israel; for the LORD fights for them against Egypt.

26 And the LORD said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the sea that the waters may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots and upon their horsemen.

27 And Moses lifted up his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its place when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.

28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots and the horsemen and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not a single one of them.

29 But the children of Israel walked through the sea as if they were walking on the dry land; and the waters were like a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead upon the seashore.

31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did against the Egyptians; and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD and his servant Moses.

1 ГОСПОДЬ сказал Моисею:

2 «Вели сынам Израилевым повернуть назад и временно устроить стоянку у Пи-Хахирота, между Мигдолем и морем. Стан ваш должен располагаться у моря прямо перед Бааль-Цефоном,

3 тогда фараон подумает, что сыны Израилевы бесцельно ходят туда и сюда: пустыня не дает им уйти.

4 Я попущу фараону коснеть в упрямстве своем, и он погонится за вами, позволю ему и войску его преследовать вас, но обернется это тем, что и язычники будут чтить Меня; египтяне должны будут признать, что Я — ГОСПОДЬ». Сыны Израилевы сделали, как им было сказано.

5 Лишь только царю египетскому доложили, что израильтяне бежали, фараон и придворные его внезапно осознали, что значил для них этот народ, и стали говорить друг другу: «Как могли мы так поступить? Ведь мы отпустили рабов своих, израильтян, что нам служили!»

6 Фараон приказал приготовить колесницы; собрал он свое войско,

7 шестьсот отборных колесниц и все прочие колесницы египетские, с воином-щитоносцем на каждой из них.

8 А ГОСПОДЬ, как и говорил, дозволил фараону, царю египетскому, проявить упрямство, и тот отправился в погоню за сынами Израилевыми, спокойно и смело ушедшими от него.

9 Гнались за ними египтяне на конях и колесницах фараона, со всадниками и всем войском его и настигли их у моря, где они раскинули стан у Пи-Хахирота в виду Баал-Цефона.

10 Когда фараон был уже недалеко и сыны Израилевы вдруг увидели, что египтяне гонятся за ними, они пришли в ужас и воззвали к ГОСПОДУ о помощи.

11 «Разве не было могил в Египте, что ты увел нас умирать в пустыню? На что обрек нас, уведя из Египта? — обрушились они с упреками на Моисея. —

12 Не об этом ли мы вели речь с тобой еще в Египте, когда просили: „Оставь нас в покое, мы будем служить египтянам“?! Уж лучше быть рабами египтян, чем умереть в пустыне!»

13 «Не бойтесь! — ответил им Моисей. — Стойте и увидите, что совершит сегодня ГОСПОДЬ и какое спасение вам Он уготовил! Египтян, на которых вы ныне со страхом смотрите, уже никогда не увидите.

14 ГОСПОДЬ будет сражаться за вас, вы же будьте спокойны».

15 ГОСПОДЬ сказал Моисею: «К чему эти вопли ко Мне? Скажи сынам Израилевым, чтобы они снимались со стоянки.

16 Ты же, подняв свой посох высоко, простри руку к морю, чтобы воды расступились и сыны Израилевы могли через море пройти по суше.

17 А Я, как и прежде, дозволю египтянам упрямствовать: они устремятся вслед за вами, но кончится это тем, что благодаря фараону, всему войску его, колесницам и всадникам его Меня язычники почитать будут.

18 И именно благодаря фараону, его колесницам и всадникам Я буду возвеличен, и узнают тогда египтяне, что Я — ГОСПОДЬ».

19 Тем временем Ангел Божий, шедший впереди всего строя израильтян, прошел назад и замкнул их шествие. И столп облачный, что был впереди, передвинулся и встал позади,

20 отделив египтян от израильтян. Всю ту ночь облако держало во мраке одних и светило другим — и они не сошлись друг с другом в ту ночь.

21 А Моисей, как и сказано было ему, простер руку свою к морю, и ГОСПОДЬ сделал так, что сильный восточный ветер гнал воды моря всю ночь и превратил море в сушу. Воды расступились —

22 сыны Израилевы прошли по суше среди моря, справа и слева от них стояли стены из воды.

23 Египтяне устремились за ними, и вся конница фараона, колесницы и всадники его бросились по дну моря догонять их —

24 происходило то уже на рассвете. Тогда стоило ГОСПОДУ только взглянуть из столпа огненного и облачного на египтян — всё войско их пришло в смятение:

25 застопорилось движение колес у колесниц — трудно было стронуть их с места. «Прочь бежим от израильтян! — кричали египтяне. — За них Сам ГОСПОДЬ, это Он сражается с нами!»

26 И сказал ГОСПОДЬ Моисею: «Простри руку свою к морю, чтобы хлынули воды на египтян, на их колесницы и всадников».

27 Моисей простер руку свою к морю, и к утру вода, хлынув с силою на египтян, бежавших ей навстречу, возвратилась на прежнее место. Так потопил ГОСПОДЬ египтян в море.

28 Вода возвратилась и покрыла колесницы и всадников, всё войско фараоново, что вступило в пределы морские. Ни одному египтянину не удалось спастись.

29 А сыны Израилевы прошли по сухому дну посреди моря, стены воды стояли и справа, и слева от них.

30 В тот день освободил ГОСПОДЬ Израиль из-под власти Египта. Когда увидели израильтяне трупы египтян на берегу моря

31 и увидели, какую великую силу явил ГОСПОДЬ в победе над египтянами, охватил их благоговейный трепет перед ГОСПОДОМ, и поверили они Ему и Моисею, слуге Его.

1 THEN the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

2 «Вели сынам Израилевым повернуть назад и временно устроить стоянку у Пи-Хахирота, между Мигдолем и морем. Стан ваш должен располагаться у моря прямо перед Бааль-Цефоном,

3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are strangers in the land, the wilderness has shut them in.

3 тогда фараон подумает, что сыны Израилевы бесцельно ходят туда и сюда: пустыня не дает им уйти.

4 And the LORD said to Moses, I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them; and I will triumph over Pharaoh, and over all his army; and the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD. And they did so.

4 Я попущу фараону коснеть в упрямстве своем, и он погонится за вами, позволю ему и войску его преследовать вас, но обернется это тем, что и язычники будут чтить Меня; египтяне должны будут признать, что Я — ГОСПОДЬ». Сыны Израилевы сделали, как им было сказано.

5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people had gone away; and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants changed against the people, and they said, What have we done that we have let Israel go from serving us?

5 Лишь только царю египетскому доложили, что израильтяне бежали, фараон и придворные его внезапно осознали, что значил для них этот народ, и стали говорить друг другу: «Как могли мы так поступить? Ведь мы отпустили рабов своих, израильтян, что нам служили!»

6 And he made ready his chariots and took his people with him:

6 Фараон приказал приготовить колесницы; собрал он свое войско,

7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots and all chariots of the Egyptians and warriors over every one of them.

7 шестьсот отборных колесниц и все прочие колесницы египетские, с воином-щитоносцем на каждой из них.

8 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, king of Egypt and he pursued the children of Israel; but the children of Israel had gone out victoriously.

8 А ГОСПОДЬ, как и говорил, дозволил фараону, царю египетскому, проявить упрямство, и тот отправился в погоню за сынами Израилевыми, спокойно и смело ушедшими от него.

9 And the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen and his army, and overtook them encamping by the inlet of Kheritha, before Baal-zephon.

9 Гнались за ними египтяне на конях и колесницах фараона, со всадниками и всем войском его и настигли их у моря, где они раскинули стан у Пи-Хахирота в виду Баал-Цефона.

10 And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes and saw the Egyptians marching after them; and they were terribly afraid; and the children of Israel prayed before the LORD.

10 Когда фараон был уже недалеко и сыны Израилевы вдруг увидели, что египтяне гонятся за ними, они пришли в ужас и воззвали к ГОСПОДУ о помощи.

11 And they said to Moses, Is it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt thus with us, and brought us out of Egypt?

11 «Разве не было могил в Египте, что ты увел нас умирать в пустыню? На что обрек нас, уведя из Египта? — обрушились они с упреками на Моисея. —

12 Is not this the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in this wilderness.

12 Не об этом ли мы вели речь с тобой еще в Египте, когда просили: „Оставь нас в покое, мы будем служить египтянам“?! Уж лучше быть рабами египтян, чем умереть в пустыне!»

13 And Moses said to the people. Fear not, wait, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will perform for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall see them again no more for ever.

13 «Не бойтесь! — ответил им Моисей. — Стойте и увидите, что совершит сегодня ГОСПОДЬ и какое спасение вам Он уготовил! Египтян, на которых вы ныне со страхом смотрите, уже никогда не увидите.

14 The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.

14 ГОСПОДЬ будет сражаться за вас, вы же будьте спокойны».

15 And the LORD said to Moses. Why do you pray before me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward;

15 ГОСПОДЬ сказал Моисею: «К чему эти вопли ко Мне? Скажи сынам Израилевым, чтобы они снимались со стоянки.

16 And as for you, lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it; and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the sea.

16 Ты же, подняв свой посох высоко, простри руку к морю, чтобы воды расступились и сыны Израилевы могли через море пройти по суше.

17 And, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, so that they shall follow them; and I will triumph over Pharaoh and over all his army, his chariots, and his horsemen.

17 А Я, как и прежде, дозволю египтянам упрямствовать: они устремятся вслед за вами, но кончится это тем, что благодаря фараону, всему войску его, колесницам и всадникам его Меня язычники почитать будут.

18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have been triumphant over Pharaoh, over all his army, his chariots, and his horsemen.

18 И именно благодаря фараону, его колесницам и всадникам Я буду возвеличен, и узнают тогда египтяне, что Я — ГОСПОДЬ».

19 And the angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of he cloud moved from before them and stood behind them:

19 Тем временем Ангел Божий, шедший впереди всего строя израильтян, прошел назад и замкнул их шествие. И столп облачный, что был впереди, передвинулся и встал позади,

20 And it came between the army of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was cloudy and dark all the night, but it gave light all the night to the children of Israel, so that they could not draw near one to another all the night.

20 отделив египтян от израильтян. Всю ту ночь облако держало во мраке одних и светило другим — и они не сошлись друг с другом в ту ночь.

21 And Moses lifted up his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

21 А Моисей, как и сказано было ему, простер руку свою к морю, и ГОСПОДЬ сделал так, что сильный восточный ветер гнал воды моря всю ночь и превратил море в сушу. Воды расступились —

22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground; and the waters were like a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

22 сыны Израилевы прошли по суше среди моря, справа и слева от них стояли стены из воды.

23 And the Egyptians pursued and went into the sea after them, all of Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

23 Египтяне устремились за ними, и вся конница фараона, колесницы и всадники его бросились по дну моря догонять их —

24 And it came to pass that in the morning watch the LORD appeared to the Egyptians army in a pillar of fire and of cloud, and threw the Egyptian army into confusion,

24 происходило то уже на рассвете. Тогда стоило ГОСПОДУ только взглянуть из столпа огненного и облачного на египтян — всё войско их пришло в смятение:

25 Thus clogging their chariot wheels that they drew heavily, so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from before the house of Israel; for the LORD fights for them against Egypt.

25 застопорилось движение колес у колесниц — трудно было стронуть их с места. «Прочь бежим от израильтян! — кричали египтяне. — За них Сам ГОСПОДЬ, это Он сражается с нами!»

26 And the LORD said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the sea that the waters may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots and upon their horsemen.

26 И сказал ГОСПОДЬ Моисею: «Простри руку свою к морю, чтобы хлынули воды на египтян, на их колесницы и всадников».

27 And Moses lifted up his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its place when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.

27 Моисей простер руку свою к морю, и к утру вода, хлынув с силою на египтян, бежавших ей навстречу, возвратилась на прежнее место. Так потопил ГОСПОДЬ египтян в море.

28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots and the horsemen and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not a single one of them.

28 Вода возвратилась и покрыла колесницы и всадников, всё войско фараоново, что вступило в пределы морские. Ни одному египтянину не удалось спастись.

29 But the children of Israel walked through the sea as if they were walking on the dry land; and the waters were like a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

29 А сыны Израилевы прошли по сухому дну посреди моря, стены воды стояли и справа, и слева от них.

30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead upon the seashore.

30 В тот день освободил ГОСПОДЬ Израиль из-под власти Египта. Когда увидели израильтяне трупы египтян на берегу моря

31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did against the Egyptians; and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD and his servant Moses.

31 и увидели, какую великую силу явил ГОСПОДЬ в победе над египтянами, охватил их благоговейный трепет перед ГОСПОДОМ, и поверили они Ему и Моисею, слуге Его.
