1 Доброе имя дороже любого богатства, добрая слава дороже серебра и злата.

2 Пересекаются пути богача и бедняка: каждого ГОСПОДЬ создал.

3 Разумный, завидев беду, спешит укрыться, а неискушенный идет прямиком, за что и поплатится.

4 Смирение и благоговенье пред ГОСПОДОМ принесут и богатство, и добрую славу, и жизнь.

5 У коварного на пути — ловушки и тернии, но кто душу свою бережет, их избежит.

6 Наставляй юношу в начале его пути, тогда и в старости он с него не свернет.

7 Богач бедняками правит, и должник — раб заимодавца.

8 Сеющий зло пожнет беду, и жезла гнева его не станет.

9 Благословен человек с добрым сердцем, ибо хлебом своим с бедняками делится.

10 Прогони прочь бесстыдного человека — и утихнет раздор, не станет брани и ссор.

11 Кто любит чистоту сердца, у кого на устах доброе слово, с теми и царь дружен.

12 Слова разумного — под чутким оком ГОСПОДА, а слова вероломного Он отвергнет.

13 Говорит лентяй: «Лев за воротами! На улице я погибну!»

14 Уста чужой жены — что яма глубокая, на кого ГОСПОДЬ разгневан, тот в нее попадет.

15 Если глупость завелась в сердце юноши, наставление с розгой ее прогонит.

16 Кто бедного угнетает ради достатка и взятки дает богачу — обнищает.

17 Настрой свой слух, внимай словам мудрецов, обрати свой разум к моему знанию.

18 Как отрадно будет тебе хранить слова эти в сердце! Пусть всегда покоятся они на устах твоих!

19 Тебя, тебя сегодня я им научу, чтобы уповал ты на ГОСПОДА.

20 Для тебя написал я эти тридцать изречений с наставлениями и советами,

21 чтобы научился ты правде и словам истины, чтобы смог дать ответ тем, кто поставлен над тобою.

22 Беден бедняк, но ты не угнетай его и нищего не обижай на суде,

23 ибо Сам ГОСПОДЬ за них в тяжбе вступится и у тех, кто обирал их, отберет жизнь.

24 Не дружись с гневливым, не водись со вспыльчивым,

25 иначе пойдешь по их дороге, самому себе приготовишь ловушку.

26 Не будь среди тех, кто за другого ручается, берет на себя чужие долги.

27 Если нечем тебе будет платить — даже постель вытащат из-под тебя!

28 Не нарушай древней межи, которую установили предки твои.

29 Видел ты человека, искусного в своем деле? Царям он будет служить, а не черни.
